oeisha stay at home! wish I had stayed at home today. Might take tomorrow off, more than 2 hours continuous sleep would help a lot!!

ghosteditor · 10/11/2011 09:32

best to stay home I think oeisha - and perhaps if they'd given you the breaks you were promised, and needed, you'd have been ok - so don't feel too bad about it!

A colleague has just come up to me and asked if I'm ok as I look really tired - well, yes, I am! I have tomorrow off but tomorrow is the day of the giant Kiddicare shop, plus a lecture and formal hall at my college, then we're spending Saturday in Cambridge shopping and meeting friends, then I'm driving home last thing Saturday as DH will have had a few beers. Then on Sunday we're driving to south London to have lunch with some friends and pick up the baby stuff they've kindly offered to lend us. So, by the end of the weekend we should be nearly sorted with baby things (and broke!), but I'm not sure it's what you'd call a 'restful' weekend Wink

ParsleyLion1 · 10/11/2011 09:38

Make sure you take lots of breaks during that ghost.

I had a similarly busy weekend and the adrenalin kept me going until about Tuesday but I'm paying for it now!

supadupapupascupa · 10/11/2011 09:47

morning lovelies!
everything good here!

I hurt my hip Tues and been very sore indeed. It's my PGP so wasn't surprised at all, just mightily peed off! So last night in an attempt to get comfy i got onto all floors, spread my hips and rocked for a bit. MAGIC! pain mainly gone immediately. The down side? Husband has asked me to do it in private as it was 'distracting' him Grin Blummin' men hey? One track minds!

Oeisha · 10/11/2011 10:02

supa men eh! At least he still finds you sexy and not just Obelix.

I managed not to cry when ringing work, but then did see a text from SIL re: me niece "She still talks about you +DH. She also said when she woke up yesterday that Auntie Oeisha is her best friend!" and that set me off.

Thinking about it, I have a hellishly busy weekend ahead, so maybe some rest now's a good idea anyway. No work, but enough to do. Girly shopping Sat, plus houswarming Sat pm, so won't be home 'til lunch Sun. Mon I have a meeting to go to if I wish (I want to, make the boogers pick up my work) and parents arriving, and antenatal class. Mostly not that stressful, but a lot of time "with people"

Time for some beans on toast to replenish my blood sugars (now I'm fairly sure I'm not gonna puke) and some more sleep.

addictediam · 10/11/2011 10:43

After drinking lots and lots of water the fire sensation has gone and ive had no more problems going to the toilet. Should I still make a dr appointment (I have a mw appointment tpmorrow) my problem is during my last pg I had lots of uti's and was on antibiotics a lot, then because of gbs was given antibiotics at 4 hourly intervals during labour, dd was then given more antibiotics after birth and then when she had a chest infection back in spring didnt respond to any antibiotics and ended up quite ill because of it. I don't mind taking them if i need them, but am worried if I go to the dr will be given them as a matter of course because of the symptoms, and i might really need them later on but not really need them this time. Argh I hate being a sensible adult and parent! What should i do?

shonnomanom · 10/11/2011 10:45

Busy weekend here as well. Birthday dinner tonight, charity race night tommorrow, got to take dp to his night out in Glasgow on Saturday then up early Sunday to drop dd at sil before attending the Remembrance Day parade with the Brownies-i won't be doing the whole parade, just the start and end.

And I really can't be arsed moving off the couch today. My body doesn't feel like its strong enough to support me today. The nursery run was a real struggle this morning.
Wish I too could stay at home all day.

Top tip for us busy ladies this weekend: if we don't need to be on our feet then sit. (although getting back up again may be an issue) Smile

ParsleyLion1 · 10/11/2011 11:10

addicted they should only give you the antibiotics if you have the infection proteins in your urine. If you have them the MW will pick them up tomorrow anyway but I don't think she can prescribe them so you'll end up at the GP anyway.

Having suffered a lot from UTIs when not pregnant, I don't recommend leaving them untreated. In my teens I had them so badly that we thought my periods had started but it was my bladder bleeding due to untreated UTI. I also had one I tried treating with cranberry juice turn into a full blown kidney infection - seriously don't recommend that one.

addictediam · 10/11/2011 11:29

In my last pg they kept giving them to me 'just in case it turns into something' I didn't even question it until dd got really ill and was then told it could have been down to over exposure of ab's. and since ive had a uti already plus 2 kidney infections and will need ab's during labour i guess I'm just being over cautious.

My mw app is also a consultant appointment so he will be able to prescribe ab's if i need them and I trust him more than my gp anyway!

Brownwolf · 10/11/2011 11:51

Hi everyone, hope you getting some rest today oeisha

It is my last day at work today, and I get to finish at 2.15 cos of holiday owing, I can't wait! Sleeping is rubbish and feeling so tired and overwhelmed by work and house etc. So looking forward to having energy to cook some proper food, and sort out the baby's room. Also looking forward to sleep!

Hope you all ok

ParsleyLion1 · 10/11/2011 12:01

Good luck for your last day brownwolf Smile

addicted in that case I'd leave it until tomorrow's appt. GPs must all behave differently. Mine was v cautious re the antibiotics and has only given me 3 days worth.

ghosteditor · 10/11/2011 12:02

gosh some busy weekends here! Cake is the answer in most cases I feel - cake causes sitting down, you see Wink. and congrats on starting maternity leave brownwolf!

One of our important authors has gone BSM because a foreign publisher has changed the title of the book to something different in their translated edition. She's fuming because she speaks that language and wanted to receive a translation sample, but she just sort of said 'everyone knows I'm fluent in x, x, and x so you should have known' - of course she didn't mention it to me any one of the 20 times I've emailed her. I feel awful as she's not a very pleasant person and is complaining that her other publisher never does this to her, so this will probably cause problems for my colleagues too. The whole negotiation for this edition happened before I even started in the job so I just want to curl up into a ball and forget about it. We just don't have the resources to check up on every one of the ~300 or so deals we sign each year - I'm only one person!!!

This makes me even more worried that we don't have maternity cover in place yet - I'm actually only in work for another 16 days I think!

[hopes pamplemousse is not picking up on the stress hormones]

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 10/11/2011 12:34

BSM?

I have done my best to add everyone to the FB group now - the downside of it's being secret is that you do need a specific invitation in order to join, so let me know if you still need adding as I'm losing track of people now - especially with the MN vs RL name thing!

Am shattered today after yesterday's working trip into London. I honestly do not know how you do it Fryn, commuting in every day. I was overwhelmed by all the people and stairs and walking and am really feeling it today.

Sorry to hear about the poorly people - hope you improve soon.

Welcome to Murriam - afraid I'm not in Wales either - have you tried Mumsnet Local?

ghosteditor · 10/11/2011 12:38

BSM = batshit mental. it's a phrase reserved for only the most special of my authors...

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 10/11/2011 12:42

Ah hah.

Fryn · 10/11/2011 13:05

cakes - compared to many I have a dead easy commute - 5 stops down the Vicky line and 5 mins walk from there. I suppose I don't know anything different though!

ghost - sit down and repeat after me... "they're only f*cking books". I was taught that by my last boss and it's seen me through many book related disasters, I can tell you!

ghosteditor · 10/11/2011 13:08

Fryn Grin I think you may be right Grin

Nanny01 · 10/11/2011 14:19

Oeisha so sorry your having a rough time. Stay home and rest. I pushed to hard yesterday to do so christmas shopping then had horrendous acid reflux all evening and through up all night. SO tiered but even the puppy eyes couldn't pursued my mum to do the school run. Can't believe I am 31 weeks now so know it won't be long. Any way Oeisha just take it easy, it's easy to wear yourself out at this point.
ghosteditor please don't stress yourself re the maternity cover my dh always says it's their problem and so it is so just look forward to your leave and new baby. Are you in London if so make the most of the decent shopping oppotunitys.

mrsamerican · 10/11/2011 14:25

Hi ladies, sorry I've been away with my DH's sweet granny. She had a stroke and needs some extra help at hospital and at home. My little pregnancy aches and pains seem small compared to nearly losing someone we love so much (and our baby's namesake!). She's quite depressed, as she's a strong Northern lady who has never taken medication (and she's 84). She keeps saying how hard everything is, but she wants to get better for her first great-grandchild's arrival.

I'm home until Tuesday with MW appointments and our antenatal class, but then will be away until the 22nd. I have to admit, I've kind of missed you guys! :)

Nanny01 · 10/11/2011 14:44

MakesCakesWhenStressed is there a fb group would love to join.

At the moment having to face the reality that ds1 may have to go to a residential specialist school to get the sort of education that he needs. Iam so wobbly about it as I had hoped that he would be able to get a place near home but if it isn't any good I will be saying goodbye to my first born shortly after this little boy comes along. :( Dh and I are going to talk to ds tonight about it and he will visit the schools ultimatley I won't force him to go but want him to have the oppotunitys that other kids have. Just never thought we would even have to consider it.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 10/11/2011 14:45

Always nice to be missed! Sorry your granny-in-law has been poorly, I hope she recovers soon

ghosteditor · 10/11/2011 14:47

hey ladies,

Looks like xkatyx from our thread (she's having twins) has been admitted into hospital at 30 weeks and may need a c-section soon - pop over here to give some support

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 10/11/2011 14:50

I don't remember her, but always happy to offer support

greenlady78 · 10/11/2011 16:34

hi ghost just went over and send some love, too! It is very nice of you to keep track of everyone! Smile I am sure it makes a difference to receive positive, caring messages! You guys always 'pick me up' so I am living proof it works Grin

Booked my flu jab (was pondering if I should take it or not....but then everyone is having them!)

I read everything on the thread but my brain is a mush and I can't remember what I wanted to say to whom... Sad, think I am coming down with a cold...(ironic right? now that I have booked my flu jab, etc, etc)

Hugsssss

addictediam · 10/11/2011 16:58
