Hi all,

miniangel - hope you're feeling better and get some rest - good luck with the house hunting!
rrrrayray - long may the no nausea last!
JJ - hope the nausea passes soon, but keep using kidicare as a distraction!

Have had a vvv busy and stressful week and husbund away this weekend, so no rest for me (although I am aware some of you have OH's who are away for a lot longer than mine - hats off to you!)
Slightly jealous that I have nothing to buy for new baby as I already have a son and a daughter, alongside 3 pushchairs to cover all eventualities, so am really struggling to justify buying anything ... in fact, I seem to be upgrading DS & DD's rooms and handing nursery stuff down to the baby - perhaps I'm starting as I mean to go on, but hate the thought of all hand-me-downs!

Hope you all have lovely weekends planned - mine consists of the ballet run and generally trying to remain upbeat and jolly despite the overwhelming tiredness!!!

Rrrrayray · 25/11/2011 19:59

Quick question - from research NHS Def says restaurant sushi is oK as fish has been frozen previously. What's people's thoughts on this? Suposed to
Be having sushi tomorrow. Wouldnt have much raw stuff, just perhaps some salmon sashimi, but just don't want to risk unless safe. Opinions appreciated! Hmm

JjingleBeanplusPudalltheway · 25/11/2011 20:02

kayzr I went very late in the evening as eclipse was ruined by a group of 13yos Hmm and was sat with a lovely group of older ladies who had a good ole twilight gossip with me whilst dp rolled his eyes lol! I'm 23 btw :)

katy I have a boy and girl already too but as dd was hitting 3 we decided to have a huge clear out, whoops, a week later I was pregnant! I kept my playgym, swing, fave toys and huge playmat. And we have dds buggy. But all clothes have gone, steriliser etc. Carseats are going to be our main outgoing. Oh and we have the cotbed as ds and dd used it so it was our keepsake so to speak.

RollerDerbyGirl · 26/11/2011 09:57

Dairy - I've not been my 'regular' self either. My mum was surprised that it happened so soon as there is not very much blocking passages etc yet. After looking at some natural remedies and tablets that all said not to use during pregnancy, I was so unhappy and unwell (not to mention my skin breaking out!) that I ate an entire 250gram bag of dried apricots in one sitting at about 8.30pm. I tell you what, waking up at 2am and completely clearing the system was the shock of my life!
24 hours later I was happy, less nauseous and my skin was completely clear.
Never the less, I now have an emergency bag of dried apricots in the cupboard at all times now!

Stuntnun · 26/11/2011 10:03

I couldn't do up the bottom button on one of my shirts this week so I'm off to Belfast to try and get some maternity tops at only 10 weeks! I hate shopping now the Christmas rush has started so wish me luck!

mrskitchen · 26/11/2011 11:02

Morning ladies,
What a wet, wild and windy night that was. Outside, not inside!
Thanks ecstatica, the scan can't come soon enough. Miniangel, I think you and i are in together on Tuesday, best of luck.
Rrrrayray- I was out for sushi the other day and checked that the fish had definitely been frozen- it had so there should be no worries for you. I didn't have any but only because deep-fried gyoza were calling out to me instead!
Regarding our "regularity" issues, I'm swearing by prune juice in the morning, and trying to be good and swap in complex carbs like baked pots and brown rice for extra fibre. It's the damn pregnancy hormones making our digestive systems sluggish that's to blame, RollerDerbyGirl. Apparently the problem gets even worse when we're bigger and have a bump squashing up against it all! Something to look forward to there!
Have a lovely Saturday, and all you ladies who are on their own with kids, bless you, I don't know how you do it.
x

Glad to hear sickness is calming down for some.... It gives hope to the rest of us!
I had my dating scan yesterday, which was amazing! Because I'm 38 they did the nuchal(?) fold measurement (which was 1.2, which is good they said), but the baby wouldn't turn for them to measure it, so the scan lasted for 1/2hr! I got to watch baby riggling and jumping around for ages, which I've never had at a scan before... And you could even see the little mouth opening, and all the fingers.... It was amazing. They said new due date is 6th june, and baby is 7cms from bum to head! To top off that they actually managed to get bloods easily too, which is usually hell with my veins.... So a really good morning! (well worth how achy my tummy is after all that prodding)!
We told my DSs and they are both really happy... My four year old was shown that the baby is about as long as daddies little finger, and he immediately gave it a kiss and hug while he watched the scan with us.....

Anyway, sorry for long post, but I know how we all love juicy scan stories to help us remember whats making us heave! Good luck all scanning next week... Let us have the details!

JjingleBeanplusPudalltheway · 26/11/2011 14:06

All booked in this morning, my midwife is lovely! Ill get her all the way through :)

Twiglet100 · 26/11/2011 18:19

Hi everyone

Congratulations on the scans and good luck to all of us who have them to come.

Just catching up on the news after a busy/stressy week - fought off the team cold, then a migraine and the cat lost the ability to wee. Which sounds like the kind of comedy thing that would happen to him, but is actually rather fundamental to being alive. So I have been taking him round various vets to try and get him sorted. Anyway, it's taken my mind off Monday's scan. Oh, and I was sick for the first time on the eve of 12 weeks, so I don't know what's going on there. MrsKitchen, I quite agree - I don't know how folks manage with toddlers thrown in as well. I'm struggling to get through work and at least the madness stops when I get home!

Warlin, time definitely stretches to epic proportions. Must be all the waiting and the secrecy :)

Right off out to hunt for crumpets.

ecstatica · 26/11/2011 22:13

mrskitchen -- lol at weather update 'outside and not in' :)

Greengoose - Whoo hooo! The kind of scan we love to hear about :) Sounds amazing and your 4 year old is tooooo cute, really happy to hear such lovely scan news.

stuntnun - good luck on the maternity shop.

The usual hello to everyone else further up the list :)

Wedding went well but promptly threw up on return home :( Have thrown up today's lunch that my friend treated us and the children to and have been sat in bed watching movies for the last couple of hours. Am hungry, but damned if I can be sick again. It's been rough these last two days. The bands didn't help at all. Nothing works.

Trousers do not fit anymore. Cannot remember where I purchased last PG's maternity trousers. They were linen, I bought a few pairs, they were short legs (I'm 5'1) and they lasted me the entire PG. Anyone have a recommendation?

Enjoy rest of weekend. Puke. Puke. xx

KatyJ26 · 27/11/2011 07:35

Morning!
Twiglet your post made me LOL! Hope your cat regains the ability to wee shortly!!!! That's all you need to be cleaning up cat pee when you feel rough! My cats keep bringing in animals... yesterday my daughter(4) said she saw a mouse run under the sofa - had a look but couldn't see anything...went out, came back, watched a film and played for a few hours and then noticed that there was a dead mouse in my lovely thick crem rug :( Couldn't face picking it up so went over the road to my neighbour but they weren't there, so I was forced to move it myself - completely disgusting and made me wretch - ah well, onwards and upwards!
ecstatica glad the wedding went well, shame about the meal afterwards though.
Jingle glad you got a nice midwife, it does make a difference - mine is a bit too opinionated for my liking...very critical of the fact I was vegetarian yet she was so obese she was spilling over the edges of my sofa and I found it difficult to accept any dietry advice
greengoose lovely scan story and magical telling your 4 year old - they're old enough to understand and get excited with you (long may it last!)
Mrs kitchen hope the prune juice works!!! (sounds revolting!)
stuntnun hope you survived the shops - I say online all the way!!!!

Enjoy your Sundays everyone, my two woke at 5am yesterday and 5.20 today, so I'm hoping for a peaceful one!!! xx

WhyAlwaysBoris · 27/11/2011 21:52

Hello everyone,
I'm weirdly comforted by the fact that lots of other people are still throwing up, not just me!
Commiserations to all.
I have my scan tomorrow morning so i'm now madly excited.......

10000fireflies · 27/11/2011 21:55

Good luck WAB!

Kayzr · 28/11/2011 06:32

Wab I hope the scan goes well!

I've got tonsillitis Sad it's so horrible and I'm hoping the antibiotics kick in soon as I'm fed up.

Hope everyone is ok!

10000fireflies · 28/11/2011 08:19

Kayzr you poor thing. I hope you're feeling better soon.

Happy Monday everyone!

Dalrymps · 28/11/2011 08:31

Morning ladies Smile

Oh kayzr poor youSad Hope the antibiotics kick in and you feel better soon.

wab Good luck for your scan, exciting!

Sickness seems to be easing a bit for me the past few days, seems at its worst around tea time. Hope it continues to ease.

How is everyone?

Rrrrayray · 28/11/2011 08:31

Good luck with your scan WAB Grin

JjingleBeanplusPudalltheway · 28/11/2011 09:44

Good luck wab I'm currently at clinic waiting for bloods to be done, they started but couldn't get enough so I'm bruised and waiting :(

Kveta · 28/11/2011 09:47

hi everyone. Kayzr hope antibiotics kick in soon, and you feel better!

I am totally knackered. Went to the MN christmas meet up on saturday, and realised that I am no longer capable of staying up past 10pm! and the trains were down, so I had to take the rail replacement bus and managed to vom all over it. Which was lovely... I got to spend some quality time shopping in London yesterday though, which was ace, and I didn't at all go directly to the toy department in Selfridges and get a present for DS, oh no [innocent].

DS was less thrilled with mummy being away, and made up for it last night by not sleeping a wink, so I am propped up at my desk looking like death now. my cough has reappeared too, grr. Should probably take it easy for the next few weeks and try to get some kip some time soon! I got really bad insomnia when pg with DS though, so am not holding out too much hope this time around.

Warlin · 28/11/2011 10:02

Morning all

Good luck wab

Sorry for all the sickness everyone. I'm starting to feel bit better thankfully and even managed a gym workout on sat (albeait a pretty light one as my heart was racing after very little activity)!

greengoose that's brilliant news...so exciting for you! I@m having the nucal test in 2 weeks. Hope it's ok. My scan and booking apt is on Fri...roll on. I'm just dying to have a scan like yours but will no doubt fret all week that there is really nothing there and it's all in my head. Makes it real to see it moving and so cute about your DS!

Hi everyone....hope you all had a good weekend.

Depressing it's Monday again...just want next few weeks over, scans etc and then able to tell everyone as fed up with the secrets!!!

millyv · 28/11/2011 10:44

Morning all!

Sorry for the absence of late but I went to London on Thursday and came back last night, had a fab time but have realised how unfit I have become in these last few weeks of missing the gym, slept 12 hours last night (less 3 wee stops!)

I have my scan this afternoon and am nervously excited, it will be the first time someone will have confirmed I'm actually pregnant and I've not made it all up!

It feels like the tiredness cloud seems to be lifting, I managed to stay up over 10pm on the weekend, so hoping I can start exercising again soon!

Hope everyone else is ok and the sickness starts lifting soon for you! Enjoy the scans those of you like me nervously waiting today!

Xx

ecstatica · 28/11/2011 11:26

Great news! will be checking in later to hear about your scans :)

I haven't seen Seriously Strong Cheddar for a while (or did I miss a post) -- just hoping you're ok. And how is Starlight Mac and anyone else who hasn't posted in a while?

KatyJ26 -- Hope your DC have woken a little earlier! Bleugh at mouse...I think I could only have moved it as a last resort.

Kv -- Did you enjoy the MN meet up despite the return home? Hope you had a good time.

KZ -- sorry to hear about tonsilitis. Hoping you get some well deserved rest soon.

Dalrymps Happy to hear your sickness is easing i wish i could say the same. Must feel a whole lot better.

JJ -- Oh no! I feel for you, i really do! I hate getting bloods done, they usually refer me to the hospital but this time i'm braving the clinic. Has it always been difficult? I had to have blood infusions when PG with DS3 and I think the cock-up they made trying to find veins scarred me for life. I walked out on the 3rd attempt of the last lot.

Warlin It won't be long :) I think everything will get so busy during the month of December we'll suddenly realize that we're getting through the second trimester :) well here's hoping!

WAB very much in the same boat. You are welcome to sail with me but bring a sick bag/bowl :)

I stayed in bed from 3pm yesterday, sleeping on and off and being sick. A bit better today and have done all cooking and urgent jobs before it kicks in again. I seem to get bad after lunchtime. At least there are 3 pots of food on the hob as it is a nightmare cooking when you want to crawl into bed and be sick.

Pop in later to see scan news xxx

Warlin · 28/11/2011 11:36

ecstatica thanks, hope you're right. I suppose once Jan comes we'll all be headed for 20 weeks scans!

A friend of mine had a baby girl last night and a girl in work had a wee boy so it's all baby news at the moment. Two more of my friends are due before chrimbo so iit's great to hear the good stories..!

Good luck with the scan milly. My tiredness cloud is lifting too and I started backto the gym at the weekend. I was a bit nervous though as my heart was really fluttering so I avoided the treadmill. Felt better for it though.

Katy I'm veggie too (well sort of but I eat fish). I haven't had meat for 12 years but am strangely craving it. I'm thinking of trying some meat over christmas but I'm scared as it's been so long. Just doesn't feel right. I'm fed up with my diet though and reckon I might feel less tired. Would you consider it? I just don't know if I could stomach it.

JJ good luck with the bloods

Have a feeling this will be a long week as I wait for Friday's booking apt and scan.....

KatyJ26 · 28/11/2011 12:21

Hi,

Warlin I've been veggie for about 18years, I have tried eating meat again, but I just don't like it any more - there is no ethical reason behind it and I cook meat for the rest of the family. If I fancied it now, I'd eat it! If there's no moral conflict and your body tells you to eat it, I'd go with it! (I have adopted that principle with Haribo, in fact). Don't know if that helps or not!!!! xx

Warlin · 28/11/2011 14:20

Thanks katy

I stopped for ethical reasons around the first foot and mouth outbreak. I always get grief about about fish as the same applies but I go so bored with veggie food. I would feel terrible eating meat but could maybe cope with organic, free range stuff (as long as they've had a good life). Def won't be having any foie gras!

Thing is, I don't know if I could stomach it. I don't want people putting me under pressure so I might surprise everyone on christmas day and try a tiny bit of turkey or something. But I might not!!!

I do feel a bit like my bodys telling me to
