I really can't stop thinking about bird. It's really shaken me as I thought that at 11 weeks we could kind of relax a bit and then that happens out of the blue.

I had planned to tell a couple of people today and order a book on baby names but I can't bring myself too:(

Anyone else the same?

callmemamma · 22/11/2011 17:52

bird I am so sorry :(
I know exactly how you must be feeling as it happened to me last time at 12 weeks just like that without any warning(had no scan as it was scheduled for 13 weeks)
That's why now at 9 weeks I still can not relax and every evening I go to bed glad that next day is one day closer to my scan...20 days left...

10000fireflies · 22/11/2011 18:02

bird - so sorry to hear your news. Take care.

WhyAlwaysBoris · 22/11/2011 20:40

Warlin sorry i didn't notice your question this morning.

I don't know if you are officially 'allowed' to ask for a different vaccine, I suspect i'm an absolute pain in the arse as far as the nhs are concerned.

I took with me a list of the brands i would have, and those i wouldn't, and as it happened the one they wanted to give me was on the list of those i was happy with, so i don''t know what would have happened if i'd been offered one of the others and refused it.

(My concern was to avoid something called Thiomersal which is a preservative used in some but not all brands which breaks down into mercury in the body. It is now not allowed in vaccines for the under 6 in the US, but the NHS says this is scaremongering and it is perfectly safe. As you can get brands without it in, i decided i wanted to avoid it to be on the safe side. They are probably throwing darts at my image in the surgery right now....)

mrsshears · 22/11/2011 20:54

so very sorry bird, look after yourself, you are in my thoughts xx

Please don't let what happened tonne dampen your excitement, it is rare at this stage & I'm so sure all your beans are meant to be.

ecstatica · 23/11/2011 09:31

Bird -- I am so very sorry :(

Kveta · 23/11/2011 11:11

bird :( I hope you feel better soon, and just think - you can drink this christmas! (tries to find silver lining). enjoy it whilst you can, and try to make the most of such a sad sad time by eating inappropriate foods. And feel free to come back and tell us all about the lovely pate or unpasteurised blue cheese you've just nommed on, so we can all be Envy sorry it's such a shit time for you though :(

I am bloody knackered again today - I didn't sleep a wink last night or the night before, so am running on fumes today. DS was being a delight yesterday afternoon, and I was starting to think maybe he is improving a bit, but this morning he kicked off in a big way because I wouldn't let him take his 'gruffo' to nursery. It's a fricking trunki, so a big thing to carry anywhere, and I am not taking it with us to nursery on his whim! So he screamed and screamed until he made himself throw up again. Grr. Apparently I did exactly the same as a child, so I guess I shouldn't get too angry, but it is so irritating! He then fell asleep as we pulled up to work, so had to carry a sleeping toddler to nursery. 2 year olds are HEAVY. I'm hoping to sleep a bit tonight, or the commute tomorrow will be a bit hairy.

Is anyone else looking at the amazon black friday deals btw? I got a Harry Potter DVD on monday, and REALLY want the Toy Story Blu-Ray box set this evening! We have no child friendly films in our small collection, except Wallace and Gromit (which DS LOVES), so I am building up a wee collection of Disney films - got the Lion King last week, and hopefully Toy Story tonight!
