Invoice taped to the bathroom mirror? Darling, only something stapled to his foot would be noticed (and not even that if the staples were in one of the scaly bits we all get with age - BTW, DS is morbidly fascinated with the idea that we have hard bits on our feet which require a pumice stone; he's very afraid indeed that it will be applied to his own soft feet. Poor child!)!

Oh, and you need one or two full outfits to go in the change bag, as you will have poosplosions, especially if breastfeeding.

I guess we should be grateful that our little ones, being winter babies, are going to have lots of blankets to cover up in, should they poo everywhere and through everything!

LittleMissFlustered, I do hope your pram is complete; it would be moderately stressful to discover any missing bits even now, let alone on (ED)D-Day!

BeeMyBaby · 31/10/2011 22:40

ugh, my pelvic floor is slowly giving up... hoping its maybe just baby's position but not sure how likely that is...

also mopsy i saw the sponge baby bath thing as well and finally bought it today, very pleased :)

aethelfleda · 01/11/2011 06:32

Arrrg, can't sleep and DH has turned on the radio so no hope of getting bacl to sleep at all. I am so anti-mornings.

Anyone got a large coffee going spare?

DarciesmumandBump2 · 01/11/2011 06:59

Morning All, I slept surprisingly well last night although ribs on left are very sore!

Babygros - I have about 20 of them and more than enough vests. Also have an outfit for both boy & girl to come home in Smile

We got a maclaren XLR stroller and love it.

What are you ladies packing into your hospital bag? X

msbuggywinkle · 01/11/2011 07:58

Morning! I am on my shiny new IPad! So I'm spending today playing with my new toy and occasionally inserting food into the DDs. Actually I'm having a great day already, DD2 has adjusted to the time change again so slept from 6pm to 7am!

Hello darcies that dress is beautiful, how is the rest of the planning going?

OiMissus · 01/11/2011 08:15

Morning ladies, I am in the office! But on the advice of la physio, I am wearing walking boots/trainers. What a sight. :) I have loads of sleepsuits/babygros (I think 20+, and I know my sis has bought some as well still to come), I bought quite a few from M&P and Tesco, and other people have bought me others - all "newborn" or 0-3mths, and they are a wide variety of sizes. I've put 3 vests and 3 sleepsuits of the tiniest and cutest in the hospital bag, and then the others are in size order in the drawer. :) Not sure where to put the multitude of cardies that MIL has knitted. Am an ungrateful urchin, I know, but they are bloody awful. And one of them is lilac. Can my boy wear lilac? I don't think so. My mum has knitted some really gorgeous ones, but then spoilt them by attaching cutesy buttons - ducks and the like. What can you do?! Grin
I went to bed at 9 last night, and had a really good night's sleep for once - even without DH being there. Got to nip out soon and buy cakes for methe office. have a good day everyone.
My pelvic floor has given up on me, so I'm reciprocating. I'll buy one of those toner things in the future to fix the damage.

Mmmmcheese · 01/11/2011 08:31

I'm another one whose pelvic floor is shot! Also just developed a cough so worried that that's not going to help.

Darcies, love the dress. Can't believe that at this stage you can still fit in it! When is the wedding date?

I have put on 33lbs so far, that seems like a lot but the baby is measuring big so that's my excuse! Usually a size 10 and don't think I look that much fatter but being on bedrest have lost loads of muscle tone. Dread to think what my stomach is going to look like after No.2!

Bit worried as the baby is moving a bit less than usual, not significantly, and still getting lots of kicks, just not quite as many as usual. It's only a small decrease though and I think if I wasn't on bedrest I wouldn't have noticed. Have MW coming this morning so will see what she says. Hope my measurements are more reassuring than last time and no glucose in my urine!

Mmmmcheese · 01/11/2011 08:38

Having posted that, just had 5 mins of constant rib kicking. Think she is trying to reassure me!

mopsytop · 01/11/2011 09:43

hawthers I got a large nightshirt (£4.50 bargain!) with buttons that go down the front a bit, so you can unbutton and breastfeed. Just normal - don't think they do maternity - but I am a size 12 normally (pushing a 14 now I am preg I'd say though) and large is plenty big! I also got some PJ bottoms in a size 16-18 and they go all the way up my bump so that's grand, and a loose top that I can pull down to breastfeed if necessary in a large as well, which is nice and roomy. None of it is maternity and it was all dead cheap!

mopsytop · 01/11/2011 09:49

bee I hope the sponge thing is good, but my friend said it's great and WAY better than an annoying bath support and it was well cheap, wasn't it?!

mopsytop · 01/11/2011 09:50

Beautiful dress Darcies but how on EARTH did you fit into it with a bump?! Amazing!

BeeMyBaby · 01/11/2011 10:04

mopsy last time we got something that floated on the bath (filled with tiny polystyrene balls), but it seemed to be permanently waterlogged so at least this should be easy to drain properly and seems comfortable for a baby. I got it for £8 but that was because we had John Lewis vouchers so probably more than you paid... but cheaper than the bath floats etc, and cheap enough that it can just be chucked after the one baby.

OiMissus · 01/11/2011 10:27

I bought 2 sets of M&S loungewear snigger in sizes 16-18, baggy tops with buttons that go part way down, so OK for breastfeeding. I need to just wash one set now and get it in my hospital bag. I'll pick up a cheapo nightshirt or something to labour in for if I'm not in a pool - or to wear directly after, as I think they want you to deliver the placenta out of the pool at Bolton.
I bought one of those moulded things for bathing el bambino in - was about £12 from John Lewis - that sits in the bath... just last week... ah well, it'll do. I thought it'd be good for those times when I want to get in too. (I'm probably being INCREDIBLY naive!)
I also bought a cuddledry towel. I know that this is silly luxury, but we saw them demonstrated at the Baby Show and decided we wanted one.

plupervert · 01/11/2011 10:38

Nice baby, reassuring you like that, Mmmmcheese. Mine was quiet last week, but since I got worried and went into hospital on Friday to be checked, she has been "reassuring" me, too! She's now getting a lot of patting on the sticky-out bum and "good girl" praise! Smile

OiMissus, you can always allow DS to "poo" on the lilac cardi, and "have" to dye it navy blue, to cover up the stain! I did that with a lot of my DS's babygros, and they looked denimy and cool! The only thing to remember is not to do the Dylon machine wash, but the handwash dye, in warm (not hot) water. Although, for the record, I like purples and dark pinks on my boy - he's man enough to take it! Wink

Good news about the iPad, msbuggywinkle! I had been wondering about that. Have you now made good everything you lost in the burglary? Is DD1 feeling calmer now?

Any news, cheeptrickortreat?

msbuggywinkle · 01/11/2011 10:59

plu yes, enough money came through to replace everything we needed to replace. Took forever though! DD1 does seem a bit more chilled so far today, I've been making a big effort to do lots of very active stuff with her (lots of running around the house playing with balloons mostly!) which always helps and I do seem to have 'I'll help you calm down, then we'll use words to deal with it' on permanent repeat!

She's going to her first sleep over at her best friend's house on Wednesday, which is really exciting! Not sure how DD2 will take it, she doesn't like it much when DD1 goes out without her, but I'm sure she'll enjoy having us to herself for the evening!

sevensevenseven · 01/11/2011 11:06

Morning, those of you that are still capable don't forget to SQUEEZE!

msbuggy glad they're getting back to normal now.

DS seems very subdued today, I hope he isn't coming down with anything. I'm torn between encouraging him to play and letting him lounge on the sofa. No major plans for today, i need to look through the baby stuff to see what last things I need to buy tomorrow and will put ios5 on my iPhone if I get round to it.

Have a good day!

HoneyLovesCake · 01/11/2011 11:19

Morning All!

Just been catching up on all the messages since I've been up to London for the weekend. Absolutely exhausted now (from trip, not catching up Wink)& I should've started working at least 2 hours ago :(

I went to the new Westfield Centre in Stratford on Saturday which is amazing if you like shopping but far to overwhelming for me at 35 weeks pregnant! Must go back when I've got more energy & it's less of a novelty for visitors...think it's a bit of a tourist attraction at the moment as it was fine first thing but absolutely heaving by midday; I had to get out of there.

Just had a phonecall from GP to tell me to continue with iron as Hb has gone up from 9.5 to a paltry 9.8 which I know is going to cause an argument re my home birth as they want it closer to 12. The moral of this story is; if your GP prescribes a 600mg daily dose of iron & your MW says it's far too high & to drop it to 200mg ignore your MW & listen to your GP even if she is telling you what you want to hear.Blush I've actually been taking 400mg + the 17mg in my pregnacare but clearly that wasn't enough so I'm doing as I'm told (by GP) from now on. Really thought all the green leafy veg was making a massive difference as I feel heaps better but apparently not Hmm

Having loads of BH at the mo' & they're giving me back ache which is making me a bit sulky & I'm feeling battered & bruised from all the kicking but these are all positive signs I suppose so I'm trying to stay upbeat about it. I have tonnes to do to get ready still; I'm going to try & do all my shopping online this week & I have to finish my birth plan before my MW appt on Friday. Can't believe I've let the birth get this close without being organised Shock Trying not to stress but it's a bit scary...LO could be born in less than 2 weeks & be considered full term. There just aren't enough hours in the day!!!

KateM77 · 01/11/2011 12:46

Hello all. Having a good day so far. After being ill, DD seems to be finally getting back to her normal self and into her normal routine. Don't want to speak too soon though - we'll see what lucnhtime brings and whether she actually wants to eat anything today, or refuse and go into meltdown as she has done for the last few days!

I have now pretty much packed my hospital bag, just a few bits to gather up and then I'll be done. Grin

Going to go out this afternoon and get measured for nursing bras. Pretty sure the normal ones I'm currently wearing are too small now, and based on my amateur home measuring then even the nursing bras I have from last time are too small too! Going to get a professional opinion before spending out on lots of new ones.

lalababy · 01/11/2011 12:46

Hi All... well I have been out for a week... my sister was visiting from New York with her two little girls (2 & 5) who were so super cute but god it was tiring. DH and I finally got a feel for what life is gonna be like with a kid (albiet a toddler!)

Other than that I feel like shit... :( have a cold, sore throat and my rib cage is killing me. It is as if the baby is lying at an oblique angle with his butt/head up my ribs and it is awful. I am constantly uncomfortable even while sitting!

Plus I have been having a wierd feeling in my belly like as if the whole thing goes tight - is completely stretched for a few moments every now and again.

As for nightshirts/labour outfits I bought 2 nightshirts in large (size 16/18) at Primark for £4.50 each plus a pack of undies for £2.50 all of which can be thrown after labour! The nightshirts are button down which allow for breastfeeding - and I suppose can be pulled up for skin-to-skin.

I was also thinking another options would be a vest + skirt.

Cheeptrickortreat · 01/11/2011 12:50

Afternoon everyone

I'm still her and baby still in the oven, cooking Smile. I'm just having lots of BH and i have lost more of the mucus plug.

Son broke my glasses last night so i had to go to vision express to get them fixed, then had starbuck and son was ubersick everywhere, we had to buy new clothes and get him changed in the cafe Blush, i was very grumpy and had a bad mum night - not proud of myself.

I have got haretburn now at night, an ear infection as i'm so run down, son got up this morning at 5.30am and has just crashed out on sofa now. I have ordered mosses basket and other bits and bobs including a new safety gate as son broke one along with the fire guard Shock. Son taking terrible twos to the extream and in the car DH laught at me and said that "son looks like him but his personality and temper is the same as mine - what do i expect from a strong willed, intelllegant 2yo?"

We DH is going to order the travel system tonight. I have written DH a list of all the things he has to do to get house ready for the baby.

I will wear what ever i have on when i go into labour but i have a load of strappy tops for the maternity ward as its always so hot in there. Hospital bag and notes by the door, staying in bag and baby bag is ready and DH knows where it is.

I can't think of anything else to do. I dont think i'm going to do a birth plan as things change and it was ignored last time. Also the baby will not be out of my sight so i can tell them what i want anyway.

Mmmmcheese · 01/11/2011 13:37

lalababy don,t worry, other people,s children always seem more tiring than your own. Thats what i find anway.

cheep glad baby stilk hanging in there but think inwould be getting very impatient if i were you! Im still only 32 weeks so willing mine to get to 35 so i can relax!

Mw didnt turn up this morning and im really annoyed as our doorbell is broken so i have spent all morning straining to listen out for a knock on the door. Called the hospital and my mw isnt even working today. Reduces my faith in the whole system even more. They wer very apologetic and arranged for someone to come out tomorrow but i am still very annoyed!

OiMissus · 01/11/2011 13:59

The lower back pains are back with a vengeance. But they are coming back at intervals - like contractions??? Does this happen? It's purely in my back. The pains come every 7-8 minutes, last a minute, then subside. Could these be BH or real? Advice please!

fusam · 01/11/2011 14:07

Oi, if it's hurting and regular it's probably not BH. Are you at work? If it is real it will escalate, are you alright?

fusam · 01/11/2011 14:07

oh and yeah you can have contractions purely on your back.

Mmmmcheese · 01/11/2011 14:14

oi it does sound like the start of the real thing. Are they getting more intense?
