Hi

I asked inlaws to take son out for a bit so i could go to bed and sleep for a bit but the tighings are still there but irragular - between every 20 and 11 minutes so it must be BH - its just so bloody annoying. And my back hurts now too Sad

MW said that all the baby is developed at 34 weeks and that the next 4-6 weeks the baby just puts fat on and grows bigger. A baby born after 37 weeks is classed as full term.

plupervert · 31/10/2011 15:34

Bluebells, if the pains are shooting, DO NOT DO ANY MORE. Please make someone else move for you, even the "easy" business of stacking stuff in piles. I thought I wasn't overdoing it in our house move (just 'cos I wasn't hauling furniture around as usual - I am a tall, strapping woman and possibly stupidly proud of that!), but I bloody was overdoing it. My back only started feeling better about last month, after we moved in August, and that was with physio. Get outside help and neighbours in if you have to; shame your OH into getting his friends and work friends to help, too.

Hope you get some sleep, cheep!

excitedforbaby · 31/10/2011 16:29

Afternoon all,

Feeling very organised today!! Managed to pack the hospital bag minus a few bits and bobs!Little bit unsure of what to pack for going home after ive had the baby?

Hope everyone is ok, sorry to hear a few of you arent feeling your best :( Ive been hoovering and changing beds today so my back is killing me slightly :(

Xiaoxiong · 31/10/2011 16:43

figgy I've found it very easy to switch off - have not done any work related handover stuff I was meant to do today, but I have been amazingly productive and ordered nearly everything online that I was looking for today. Didn't mean to rub in how pleased I am about finishing work [hsmug] but do feel slightly weak that I made it to 35 weeks working full time and then collapsed. I guess every woman's different, it's not a competition, etc etc...

For those of you interested in cloth nappying I've just ordered 12 size one bambini bamboo nappies, 4 motherease rikki wraps plus six night-time boosters - we'll use those predominantly at night. Then for the day I've ordered 10 one-size bumgenius v4 pocket nappies. Would have gone for all bumgenius but the advice was that they're not suitable for night time, so got the bambini ones for nights. The customer service from the nappy lady online was excellent, highly recommended.

plu £700 of your own money to pay DH's corp tax? I assume that's money he will be paying you back out of company profits?? I would charge interest and my hourly rate as well [hgrin]

Welcome excited!

Cheep it could be starting to kick off, maybe a bath and a bit of sleep might ease things? Agree with aethel it's worth calling your mw to let them know what's going on.

Oi that sounds really painful.

Happy hallows night everyone, I have a 5kg tub of sweets for trick or treaters they better come soon before I decide to dive in.

sevensevenseven · 31/10/2011 17:27

oi if it happens again get down on all fours then bring the painful leg forward so the ankle is in front of your other knee. Stretch out the back leg straight behind you and lean forward as far as you can. I hope that makes sense and apologies if you tried it already. It sorts out my occasional mild sciatica so might be worth a try if it happens again.

DS and I went into town for lunch earlier. I've walked 2 miles today which is more exercise than I've done in months [hblush]. I'll probably spend all night asleep on the sofa now!

Hope everyone has had a good day.

hawthers · 31/10/2011 17:40

well have finally written the list for the hosp bag even if i haven't packed it yet!

what is everyone doing about what to wear in labour? i'm planning on getting a couple of cheap nightshirts from Primark to wear but can't quite work out what size to get - i know a completley ridiculous thing to worry about but do they do a maternity range that everyone is buying from or do you just get a much larger size than you are normally? mopsy perhaps this is one for you as i note you sorted all that stuff out this weekend.

rather confused over a very small and insignificant detail but just can't get my head around it!

Xiaoxiong · 31/10/2011 17:55

I got a stripy racer-back cotton nightie from Sainsbury's for a fiver to wear during labour. It's sleeveless so I won't overheat, I hope, and a size 14 non-maternity comes up short enough once my bump and arse are covered that there isn't loads of fabric flapping about.

excited I was advised to pack stretchy maternity clothes for my hospital transfer bag, as you'll be sore and still look at least 6 months pregnant (v annoying) so I've stuck in loose black yoga trousers and a maternity t-shirt and jumper. I hope I'll have a winter coat and shoes with me anyway if I do ditch my homebirth and transfer to hospital...

OiMissus · 31/10/2011 19:14

There are not enough trick or treaters to decimate my treat stocks. This is not good... but then, I can take them into work tomorrow to stop me eating everything. iT doesn't help that it's raining.
Thanks for the tip seven.
I'm counting on a birth pool, so am thinking a bikini top or vest, but I suppose I should have a back up plan - some kind of nightshirt, I suppose. Hadn't thought of that...

LittleMissFlustered · 31/10/2011 19:18

I came home in jeans and a tee with my son. Was August and all my clothes were too big as I had lost so much weight >_<

This time I'm packing a pair of leggings and a smocky thing as they scrunch up small:) I need to buy pyjamas and knickers, but will do so next week when I am solvent again. Hate buying sodding knickers I have a fabulously comfy old nightie to labour in. It's spag strap and a mid thigh length and cotton jersey. It looks like its been through the mill, because it has:o

LittleMissFlustered · 31/10/2011 19:21

Oi If you fit the Primark size range they have vest tops in the nightwear range that have the inner crop top thing. Friends have said they are ideal for in or out of the pool, and at about two pounds you can have one for wet and dry options:) Mix and match cotton bottoms in same section are about £4. Bargain. Unless you're a fat bird like me:o

excitedforbaby · 31/10/2011 19:42

I'm thinking some maternity leggings and a comfy big jumper to come home in, it's v annoying that I won't know what size I'll be after :-( its only a short drive home anyway so it's not like anyone will see me! LittleMIssFlusteredim jealous, I'm very sure I won't fit back into my jeans right away! I'm mostly just bump but I'm not holding out any hope!

I'm just wearing a bikini top in the birthing pool, don't want the feel of a wet nightie sticking to me!

aethelfleda · 31/10/2011 20:25

I've got a plain black oversized xxl mens tshirt to labour in (with leggings that are coming off when it all gets serious!) and a
Breastfeeding nightshirt to change into as soon as all the gacky bit is over and done with. Going home is another XXl t shirt and maternity leggings. Pair of PJs in case I get kept in (still in maternity equivalent size ie 2 sizes above normal). At least I think that's what's in the bag. Will probably get there and discover the DDs have replaced contents with a Dangermiuse DVD, a sparkly My Little Pony and some Tinkerbell pyjamas....

DarciesmumandBump2 · 31/10/2011 20:37

Hey Ladies,

Sorry not posted, been mega busy and tbh when I get home from work and done all the after school runs I just want to sleep.
just been catching up - hope all babies stay put and come when they should.

I have tremendous heartburn, gives me hot sweats at night and means I can't lay down at night :(
Baby is very active, been head down for the last 6 weeks and in the right position. They did think I might of had gestational diabetes but 2nd set of BTs came back okay :)
my hips are really hurting :( weight of the baby is taking its toll now but only put on 10kgs which I'm happy with. Feeling quite out of breathe too.
Have really bad odema in my legs, feet & ankles, also my hangs so have had to take my rings off.
Haven't packed a hospital bag yet, don't really know what to pack tbh.
Mat leave starts on 25th Nkv so I can then relax before the baby comes.

My highlight of Oct was getting my wedding dress :) at 7.5 months pregnant I can still fit into a size 8 - google Maggie Sottero Celestina - thats my dress :)

Hope everyone is well.

excitedforbaby · 31/10/2011 20:49

DarciesmumandBump2 googled your dress and it's lovely, I'm getting married in April next year, still yet to get a dress tho but would love a maggie sottero :) hope you feel better soon!

Baby is incredibly active tonight,I think she is trying to burst through my belly button :( any one got any tips on how to avoid getting restless legs at night in bed? It's driving me nuts!!!!

OiMissus · 31/10/2011 20:50

Great to hear from you darcies, welcome back! Not so great to hear you're suffering the same 7 trillion and 1 pregnancy symptoms!
Gorgeous dress! How on earth can you fit into it???!

DarciesmumandBump2 · 31/10/2011 20:55

Excited it was a bargain, 1150 knocked down to 850 came in that day straight from designer photo shoot :)

OiMissus Looks like I've swallowed a football lol. hardly looked preggers in it, was well chuffed hehe

excitedforbaby · 31/10/2011 21:06

Wow that is a bargain! I just hope I lose the baby weight before the wedding! When are u getting married ? Or were married darcies?

DarciesmumandBump2 · 31/10/2011 21:11

August 2012, The Langstone Hotel, Hayling Island.

plupervert · 31/10/2011 21:15

Now, this is sounding more cheerful! Have you lot been at the sweets? (I have. A bit.)

Tyelperion, of course I'm getting the money back (and a thank you) - what sort of Mumsnetter do you think I am? I'd die of shame if I had to write that AIBU!

Xiaoxiong · 31/10/2011 21:24

Excellent, excellent plu - just making sure! I still it's important to reckon up your hourly rate plus VAT as well to hammer the message home - perhaps an invoice taped to the bathroom mirror? [hgrin]

I got married last year, can't imagine trying to plan a wedding at the same time as having to decide whether or not we've got enough newborn size sleepsuits (we have six in total - and 10 little white vests with poppers for underneath...is that enough, wise women?)

OP posts:
sevensevenseven · 31/10/2011 21:28

Glad you're back and ok darcies.

I'm going shopping on Wednesday so will pop into Primark and look for a couple of cheap nightshirts. Tbh I hadn't even thought about what to labour in.

sevensevenseven · 31/10/2011 21:32

tyel that sounds like enough vests but I'd get a few more sleepsuits. If you have a very sicky baby you could get through that many in a day! If you think you might have a big baby you could always leave the tags on and return them if they're too small.

DarciesmumandBump2 · 31/10/2011 21:33

Thanks Ladies. Am going to try and get some sleep - very hard when heartburn is irritating - sleeping upright is not the most comfortable :(

LittleMissFlustered · 31/10/2011 21:35

Tyel If you're planning on the baby being a wearer of predominantly sleep suits, no way! Plan for three a day, minimum:o However, hold out on buying more until the bump lands, then you can buy ones that fit, as opposed to the ones that you think might fit. If that makes sense? I have half a dozen early baby and half a dozen newborn (newborn go up to 11lb, most babies I have known have been born at between six and a half and eight pounds) and will hit the supermarket to get more of the right size a couple of days after birth all being well:)

Pondering checking my pram bits are all in the box this week. Seeing as I have had it about six weeks and it is still sealed up and lobbed to the back of the big cupboard in my bedroom >_
