Join us as we head out of the secretive, scary, slightly sicky first trimester and into the bump emerging, supposedly blossoming, energy boosting second trimester.

My new maternity jeans are the business! They arrived this morning and I am loving them already. Only 11 pounds from New Look online sale, they are still there. I got the lighter blue ones with the narrow bump band and the dark indigo ones with the full on bump band that I can save for a few weeks. The comfort difference in having no zip and button is amazing!

I have itching too. I think it is my clexane bruises that are itching me though.

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead · 22/10/2011 15:58

I'm feeling shit again, was ill after the swine flu one too (think I already said that...?)
Have had a few hours sleep, but am aching like fuck :(

No queue at my doctors, but it was like an assembly line so that may be why. I was literally in with the doctor for about 10 seconds!
Walked through the door and they said "yep, shes pregnant". Feel fat now [hgrin]

Uglymush · 22/10/2011 17:37

Kat I have exactly the same jeans - live in both pairs already - partly just to make me feel pregnant and partly cos they are so comfy. Half term next week so I don't have to wear a suit and can be comfy in my jeans each day - so happy about that one!! Grin

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead · 22/10/2011 19:19

Just been sick for the third time today :(

mumofwilliam · 22/10/2011 19:51

aprilal - my feet grew a size with DS and so far not gone back to normal! Am really hoping they don't go up anymore.... A friend told me hers went back to normal after a few years so keeping all my old shoes in case - i now work with a very limited shoe collection!

Oh can i just feel bad on here and moan ... my temper and patience is at an all time low - I keep finding myself startgin to loose it with DS and then after i have shouted at him lots feel bad and cry. I even put him outside the back door today (it is glass so could see him) as was so cross thought i might do something bad! Really hoping this will improve soon - feel so much better in other ways.

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead · 22/10/2011 21:06

Four times :(
DH is making me some toast now. The only thing that has stayed down so far today.

SurprisEs · 22/10/2011 23:03

Hi everyone!

Had a very stressful day yesterday so just went to bed as soon as we got home from groceries shopping. The whole family did.

Me and DD woke up late (9ish) which was nice although she's rarely up before 8:30 am. About 10 am I noticed a huge red patch on DD's back but ignored it because she likes to be undressed so I just though it was carpet burn. It got bigger and bigger but no symptoms of illness so I took her to the chemist as my local GP had no appointments. They were really worried because it just kept growing and it was really hot to touch so I went to the out of hours GP.

Because it was a rash they made us wait in a separate room. It was the corridor to the nurses' rooms. No windows, REALLY hot. DD's back was really itchy and hot so I thought no harm in taking her t-shirt off. She was desperate. It took over 1.5hrs for her to be seen. By then she was in her knickers as the rash had gone from her shoulder blades all down her back and covered her bum cheeks. Everytime a door opened poor thig ran and said "I need to get out of here". It took less than minute to prescribe some antihistamines (sp?) and that was it.

If they thought it was that bad of an illness to lock her in a damn corridor for so long then they should have seen her quickly. Otherwise she should have been in aire suitable room. She's only two!

Then we had to go shopping. We were all exhausted! I'm still grumpy about it...

Had my daily winge. I feel good now.

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead · 23/10/2011 13:17

SurprisEs I'm Shock that it took hospital that long to see you when they were worried enough to "quarantine" her!! Is she okay today?

Been sick three times already today, coughing all night and feeling rather shit.
Googling flu jab side effects, apparently its not a side effect (I'm a bit Hmm about that considering the timing AND that it happened last time too - Spring jab that time too so not the time of year)
And I also found out that this year they've included the H1N1 vaccine in the general flu one, so I've could be reacting to exactly what I did last time...? (Think that should have been on a poster or something, I might not have had it then knowing how ill I was last time)

Ahh well, I'll be better soon and at least I dont have to worry about flu complications for the rest of this pregnancy one thing off the huge worry list :)
Sorry to moan again btw, just feeling rather sorry for myself!

SurprisEs · 23/10/2011 13:22

DD is fine. Thanks :) . Her shoulder blades are still a bit red but she's loving the medication, weird child, and it seems to not bother her now.

Being sick sucks! I feel for you. I only heave now and again, mucus is an annoying fact of pregnancy for me.
I haven't had the jab. Don't think I will either. Feel guilty at times, but I don't feel at risk.
Hope you feel better soon.

newmummyvicky · 23/10/2011 21:12

hi ladies, i had my flu jab lat week, didnt get any side effects from it, only a dead arm for a few days.

I got my results letter from the downs test, mine was from a blood test.
Im 28 yrs old and its

1:4300
i think thats pretty good? and not a worry.

Ive still sleeping pretty badly last night i was up at 2am, 5am and again at 9am for wee break, its really starting to pee me off!
oh well ive been told its gets worst! lol

My weight gain is about half a stone, but bump is really starting to stick out, people keep saying "ooooh you are showing now!"
im really craving chocolate and seems to want a piece everyday, gone off the noodles now. Just hoping my weight gain isnt down to the chocolate im eating!lol.

My 20 wk is the 8th nov, seem like ages till i see the little baba again.
anyone else think its a wait between the midwife and 20 wk scan? x

SurprisEs · 24/10/2011 00:33

newmummyvicky I wish there was another scan after the 20 weeks scan. I know there's no medical need but I have this unreasonable feeling of wanting to see the baby all the time. Wish my abdomen was see-through.

Actually, no, that would be creepy.

Off to sleep I think. Terrible insomnia. Must be the lack of activity. I need to get moving!

VintageNancy · 24/10/2011 07:24

I'm really struggling with insomnia the last couple of nights Sad Just as well I leave work this week I think!

Yes it seems a long time until the 20 week scan - 17 Nov for me. I think in the US I'll get scanned again once I find an OB. So much to think about... Could explain the sleep issues come to think of it!

Hope you all have good Mondays.

cheaperthantherapy · 24/10/2011 11:20

Hi all,

Monday again... shall I do my work or have a look on mumsnet....

Beyond - I hope you are feeling better now - sounds like an awful reaction to the jab.. I've downloaded a new Iphone app to track the pregnancy - and I've now got 174 days left :)

Suprises - hope your daughter is better - sounds like an awful experience...

Have started feeling flutters (was really early last time with DD too) So exciting to know little bub is laying and moving around... Apparently between weeks 16 - 20 they are the size of an avocado - banana :)

TheVampireEmpusa · 24/10/2011 13:12

Hi everyone, I lost these threads for a little while.

Updates here: I got hospitalised a couple of weeks ago with +4 ketones thanks to 6 weeks of hyperemesis, which was less than fun. Lost almost 2 stone thanks to that. I'm on a combination of pills now to control the hyperemesis and am actually eating again.

Really struggling with the pregnancy though, feeling extremely low and finding it hard to care about the baby. It's proving very hard not to hate it. :(

Hoping that finding out the sex will help me "bond" with it, and stop me thinking of it as a parasite. That sounds awful written down, but is sadly true.

Still no bump here and definitely no kicks/movement. SO far the only signs that I'm pregnant are nausea and vomiting.

How's everyone else doing?

Mackrelmint · 24/10/2011 15:02

oh, Empusa that sounds terrible; poor you.

I think it's understandable to resent the baby. I know people say that in childbirth they end up not caring what happens as long as the baby is healthy, but in the midst of it I remember feeling like I didn't care what happened to me or the baby as long as the pain would just stop - and I felt angry with the baby for causing it and not coming out!

But you won't feel like that once you feel better I'm sure. And I really hope you do feel better soon.

Oh, I really need to get on with some work now... Have spent most of this morning browsing mn and making various lists and generally idling. Was counting the weeks til start of mat leave this morning, but really shouldn't do that and try to actually enjoy work or at least just focus and get on with it - another 5 months to go after all...

AprilAl · 24/10/2011 15:34

Aw Empusa, you really have been through the mill haven't you? Certainly puts all my niggles into perspective. I'm not surprised you're feeling a bit resentful towards the baby at the moment, but hopefully now you're eating again you'll start to feel better and can maybe even start to enjoy your pregnancy. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

SurprisEs · 24/10/2011 20:18

Empusa sorry to read about your troubles. Hope things get better from now.

Went to the Natural History Museum today. What was I thinking?!? Completely forgot it was half-term. The que was estimated to be an hour long. Poor DD is only two years old so she struggles with waiting. I try to teach her but don't expect miracles. Luckily one of the security people (or maybe just regular staff I don't know) was a gentleman and asked menif I was ok with lying and saying she needed the toilet. I felt a bit guilty but said yes. The poor girl had already travelled for 1.5 hours.
She loved the dinosaurs and the insects.

Managed to do the whole day out with £24 including travel, food, water and a souvenir. Good value I thought.

Hope everyone else had a good Monday and sorry if you were in that que... Blush

Bearcrumble · 24/10/2011 21:25

Empusa I'm really sorry you've been so ill - and there's no need to feel bad about your emotions with regard to the baby at the moment. They are totally understandable - there's nothing more miserable than constant nausea/vomiting. Hope the medicine continues to help. I think there is a hyperemisis support thread here somewhere - have you seen it?

SurprisEs Funnily enough we went to the Science Museum on Sunday afternoon. It was less busy than I thought it would be and we got to see the bubble show in the basement. DS was amazed at a display of working model tractors and we couldn't drag him away from the rotating earth in the space bit. It's so rarely that he takes his nap early enough to warrant doing anything in the afternoon so I took the opportunity when it arose.

SurprisEs · 24/10/2011 21:39

Bearcrumble I want to take DD to the science museum too. But I'll wait a few more weeks. London is lovely but exhausting! I just won't let myself forget about half-term next time. I don't think luck will strike me twice...

LouisaJF · 25/10/2011 10:34

Hi! I'm 14 weeks today and due on 24th April.

Am I the only one excited aqbout getting a bump?

Mackrelmint · 25/10/2011 10:45

I can't wait for a proper bump - primarily so I have more chance of getting a seat on the tube! But right now I just look a bit pudgy around the middle...

SurprisEs - well done for surviving NHM in half term. Went recently with sister's family and felt very hectic even not in half term. Couldn't cope with Dino gallery so just did a bit of mammals then hung out on the grass outside!

Thaleia · 25/10/2011 17:20

LouisaJF almost the same as me, my due date is 27 April. I'm looking forward to the bump but even more so to my bloated tummy to disappear. I look like a lead balloon and are wearing my "fat clothes" at the moment to cope.

RE half term. Went by there today by bus, the queue in front of the NHS was AROUND the corner. At least it didn't rain until 3pm today!

I'm 13+4 and the sickness is s l o w l y easing but I'm still almost crippled by tiredness. I've only started to take pregnancy vitamins (so far only Folic Acid stayed down), so maybe it's the iron level which needs a few days to be pepped up? I hope so as life is passing me by at the moment :(

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead · 26/10/2011 20:58

Hello all, I'm still dying, but not dead yet [hgrin] melodramatic much?
Yesterday and today I have a cough too, so now my throat is sore on top of everything else! :(
Am hoping so much that this is "it" for illness now, and maybe I can enjoy my pregnancy a bit? Perhaps?
Off up to visit family soon, so at least they can look after DS and I can have a rest.

Hope everyone else is bearing up and REALLY hope noone else gets ill from the flu jab or not the jab?

SurprisEs · 26/10/2011 21:17

Beyond Gosh you do need a break!

I thought I'd enjoy the second trimester with the non sickness. But the fact that I don't feel or look pregnant is making me feel very detached from the baby. I'm just not excited... Feel a bit wrong writing that!

Twittle · 26/10/2011 21:57

Hi, just been reading the posts and everyones down's s test results all seem a lot lower risk than mine which was 1 in 1500 (I'm 32) it only gave this result on the letter and did say that no further tests were needed, is this ok... can't remember last times.... but I am sure it was more like 1 in 7500 has anybody had the same as me this time round??

Also got stung by a wasp yesterday on the finger, my whole hand swelled up in an hour so went to A&E have been given 2 different types of antihistamine (now on piriton) and after going back to the doctor this morning I also have antibiotics - Flucloxicillin to take if the swelling/redness gets worse... it is agony but I am more worried about what these tablets might do to the baby of if I do get an infection what that might do to the baby.... if I wasn't pregnant I would start taking the antibiotics just in case it turns into an infection but because I am I don't want to unless necessary... going to be another sleepless night for all of the above worries and concerns and the fact that my hand is killing me.... sorry for the moaning .... am feeling very sorry for myself! Blush
