horsey do you mind if I ask what you did with regards to the consultant. When I last saw her she said I was to let her know when I was pregnant again so they could start the follow up and extra scans. But I am only just pregnant so do not know if I should leave it for a couple of weeks.

Everyone else thanks for the welcomes. I watched X factor last night but the show seems to have lost some of its magic. The acts just do not seem very good this year.

Hope everyone else is feeling OK.

ReadySteadyDrink · 23/10/2011 12:53

Hi all,

i'm at my Mum's this week, so getting spoilt which is lovely!

i have all the general symotoms (I won't mention one of them, as thinking about it makes it worse) plus weird, vivid dreams.

my Mum cried when I told her. Saw my bestfriend yesterday and she guessed!!! She said I was glowing! My Mum said this too, but I thought she was trying to make me feel better as I feel terrible. I also thought the 'glow' didn't start until 2nd trimester.

Xx

greengoose · 23/10/2011 13:11

RSDrink GLOWING!!! Thats so lovely!!! I think the only thing anyone has guessed I have so far is a hangover and a tummybug!! I dont think I am one of lifes 'glowers' while pregnant Confused.

Exstatica I also blew my chance of sleep this weekend.... so frustrating when I know that it will be next WE before Im likely to get another!

DH working away at beginning of week, and we are a bit skint, so will try to do local things with DSs for start of week. We have managed to grow some pumpkins so soup and lanterns tomorrow I think!

Onlymydogunderstandsme · 23/10/2011 13:32

Hi ladies, I did post on here and add my stats a few weeks ago but haven't been on that much since! Haven't caught up on the whole thread yet but can see there are lots of symptoms about! I can't believe how different I feel from this time last week...feel so queasy all of the time and then I eat to feel better (and also seem to have a massive appetite) but I don't actually fancy anything iykwim!!! Also my stomach seems to be going from needing the loo every 5 mins to not being able to go at all!!!! So jealous at those being described as glowing....I have the skin of a teenager!! Never mind though it's all worth it in the end and feels positive to have strong symptoms!!!

Has anyone got any remedies for the nausea?!!

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 23/10/2011 13:35

Nausea has taken full hold here! Finding it very hard to be around any smells at all.

Even worse as were staying at the ils for a few days as ds is on ht, and mil is an amazing cook and I can't stomach anything that smells, were not ready to tell people yet.... This is fun :(

Dalrymps · 23/10/2011 13:51

Oh jj awful having to cover it up when you feel like thatSad That's why I ended up telling my pils in the end last time cause I just looked miserable all the time!

Nausea had eased for a few days but it's back yesterday and today and I just feel awful. I just had a week off work as I booked it to visit my sil but we decided it was best not to in the end. Anyway, I'm in from 5-8 tonight and I'm dreading itSad My job is to help the residents (old peoples home) with their tea then put them to bed and help them use the loo etc. The home is always boiling hot with heating on full blast and as you can imagine there are lots of smells to turn my stomachSad What am I going to do?! They know I'm pg but if I call in sick I'll not get paid foe my shift and we need the money. Bugger.

Kayzr · 23/10/2011 14:03

Bleugh bleugh. I am sick of feeling sick. Not been sick but I feel awful.

Sorry that everyone else seems to be feeling ill too.

Dalrymps surely they have to do a risk assessment. I'm pretty positive that it's a legal requirement.

greengoose · 23/10/2011 14:11

Dairymps I feel for you! Can you ask for different duties if you are feeling sick? (It wouldnt do to heave on the old dears)! Failing that, in vaguely similar situation with DS1 I used to put some olbus oil or similar on my sleeve, and sniff it when I was feeling queezy... It fought off the worst of the sickness...

Feeling yucky here. Its difficult because OH isnt the type to ooze with sympathy, and because I am still putting away food he doesnt get how sick I am feeling. I wish he could just feel it for a few hours, then hed KNOW Hmm.

Dalrymps · 23/10/2011 15:19

kayzr risk assessment hasn't been doneHmm When I told them they just said 'don't do any lifting' which is near impossible to do no lifting at all. It's strange for me as my last Jon was for a big company who did everything by the book.

greengoose thanks for the tip, bit even sure I could stand the smell of that but I'll give some a sniff to check what effect it has..

I've given in and phoned in sock for my shift today. I won't get paid but I just feel too awful. No idea how I'm going to cope with this long term, don't think I'll be entitled to ssp working p/t.

Can't see how they can change my duties as the time of my shift is 'putting residents to bed' time. There really is nothing else to do that would fill my whole shift at that time. I could make the suppers but that's only in the last hour I'm there. Ho humBiscuit

Dalrymps · 23/10/2011 15:19

Last job

Dalrymps · 23/10/2011 15:28

Damn this phone and the strange spellings it bestows on me!

ecstatica · 23/10/2011 15:59

Sounds terrible but glad to hear everyone is feeling about as shite as me :)

Dalyrmps -- I don't blame you, all i can say is put your feet up and don't feel bad about it (i know it's less pay but what to do?) Will also not say 'hope u feel better' because it doesn't really wash with us does it?

Greengoose - My OH is the same on the sympathy level and is also away during the week .... It is bound to be a long one :( I don't want to tell anyone yet and I'm actually scared of telling mine or my PILs because they will say things like 'Oh God - how did that happen/what are you going to do? It's going to be too much? Remember how you were.......' Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

ReadySD -- sorted! You've got a great mum there :-)

LS - Hello :)

Well, have to somehow motivate myself to get things ready for the week now while my DC are out.... i just want coca-cola on ice and lots of it!

StarlightMcKenzie · 23/10/2011 16:34

Hi again.

Well my dh has been lovely and let me sleep nearly all weekend knowing that it is half term next week.

This would be great, except that I have a tribunal to prepare for for ds' education and I'm running out of time Sad

OP posts:
Dalrymps · 23/10/2011 16:34

ecstatica yes, good to know I'm not alone in my shiteness..

I'm finding it difficult to find a drink that doesn't turn my stomach. Last week cloudy lemonade was ok but now that's too sour. I'm currently on sparkling water (only manageable if freshly opened, half flat won't do) or fizzy orange popHmm so healthy.

Just had a pot noodle.. Glad I'm fitting in some fruit and veg between all this junk food!

greengoose · 23/10/2011 16:49

What I dont get is why my body is telling me I need comfort and junk food at the time it should be urging me to eat healthily Confused.

starlight glad you got some sleep. Sounds like you are going to have quite a bit to tackle.... good luck with the tribunal, it sounds important.

Dairymps its good you are taking it easy. Its so hard when you are in the sort of work that doesnt pay you unless you do it..... Im trying to set up my own business, and seriously falling behind now because I used to do all the work in the evenings and I just cant find the energy. The good bit is I can buy lots of baby stuff at trade or as samples, so there is motivation there at least! Grin

greengoose · 23/10/2011 16:50

I have never had a potnoodle, but right now my body is saying I should have one....... Im going to have mac n cheese for tea instead, almost as bad! Grin.

StarlightMcKenzie · 23/10/2011 16:53

Oh, so now I want a pot noodle!

StarlightMcKenzie · 23/10/2011 16:55

I can eat, but I absolutely can't cook.

Should be lasagna tonight but I absolutely can't face chopping onions and the smell of it bubbling away.

THREE times last week we had to resort to takeaways but we a)can't afford to keep going like that and b)don't think it is a very healthy for any of us.

My cravings are mainly for spicy foods. Two of the takeaways were Indian and one was spicy pasta.

I might have to leave poor DH (who has let me sleep and had the two kids all weekend) instructions on how to make dinner.

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 23/10/2011 18:30

Sorry to hear so many of us feel rotten.

I cant tell my in laws, deffinatly not whilst staying with them, there reaction to dd was um... Awkward.

Kveta · 23/10/2011 18:39

hi all,
still feeling rough here too, although not as bad as many of you seem to be. Just feel like I'm constantly at sea, but have managed to only actually throw up once so far.

I didn't sleep at all last night, as my gut kept me up - constipation is a bloody nuisance! Blush feeling better today though!

cooking wise, we have been resorting to easy and not too strong smelling meals, so spag carbonara (frozen onions, bacon lardons - makes it much much easier to cook!!), fish and oven chips tonight, more pasta tomorrow, probably with the jamie oliver sausage sauce. I have shedloads of frozen veg too, as DS is exceptionally picky about his food, so I'm damned if I'm buying fresh and chucking it. makes meal times a wee bit easier though.

I made a huge batch of proper american oatmeal cookies yesterday, as i had to visit friends today, and had a friend round this morning too, so needed nice biccies. Sadly, I added butterscotch morsels (saved from my last visit to the states) to one half of the mix, and the smell made me heave repeatedly until they were all cooked. Annoying, because i used to like them!!

my boobs still feel like they've been pummelled for a fortnight, and they are excruciating when DS feeds - and for some reason he has ramped up his demands, just going 'milk, pleeeeeease mummy' whenever I say no, and doing the face like puss in boots from shrek. sigh. speaking of which, he's just yelled down the stairs for more milk before bed, so need to go and be a one woman dairy again.

Dalrymps · 23/10/2011 18:52

greengoose what kind of business you setting up?

Starlight we are also having a few to many takeaways. I wanted a curry the night before last but it wasn't spicy which was what I'd wanted. I just felt full and yucky after itSad

Whoever said they were suffering constipation, yep, getting that too. Last time I made myself drink a small glass of chilled probe juice every morning It did help keep me, ahem, regular but I had to down it like a shot. I could have just eaten lots of fruit I guess but the way I feel atm I don't know what I want from one minute to the next.

I'm usually crap at eating fruit, not that I don't like it, i just never particularly fancy it. I have been fancying bananas since falling pg though. I think they're supposed to be good for ms as they have vitamin b12..

Kveta poor you having to feed with sore boobs. That's one thing I haven't got this time. Although it was short lived last time too.

Dalrymps · 23/10/2011 18:53

Jeez... I meant prune juice! Grin I really should preview my posts..

birdofthenorth · 23/10/2011 19:00

Kveta I sympathise about the breastfeeding and the nausea! Except DD1 can't talk yet so is still
In the yank-down-my-top phase... starting to pull a face as if it tastes different but still demanding it!

Felt really nauseas for the past 3 days, suddenly got much worse. Sense of smell gone into overdrive and DD1's poos making me through up!!

DD1 has just started teething again, first new teeth for months, which is unfortunate as I feel rough as a donkey & just want to lie down!

greengoose · 23/10/2011 19:25

Dairymps Ive got one fifth share in a new childrens shop. Ill be selling toys and baby things (a lot of them made by mums doing it as a home business), and slings. I make some things like mobiles and dolls, so Ill be trying to sell them as well. Well have a couch and coffee and run some craft and education classes too. Im really excited, but its hard work. We are meant to be opening in three weeks, and Ive got all the graphics to do too!

We are also eating rather badly here, i just cant stand the thought of cooking.

I cried at the pampers advert today. I really have to stop the waterworks...... my DS just looked at me and laughed!

Kveta · 23/10/2011 19:35

i shall have to look into prune juice I think - didn't have constipation last time, but probably because I barely ate a thing for 4 months! I didn't have heartburn at all last time either, and am guzzling tums like there's no tomorrow this time [hhmm] i tried some rennies tablets and they made me feel sick, but tums seem to be working.

I told my friend I'm expecting again today - we miscarried at the same time in august, but she was much further on than me, and has now got to wait for 6-8 months before TTC again, whilst being monitored. I was dreading telling her, as it's obviously gutting for her, but she was really nice about it. Feel so shit for her though.

bird how old is your DD? DS is 25 months this week, and never ever shuts up for a single minute, just yapping away like a moment of silence is a moment wasted. It's cute, but wearing! he has recently learnt please/thank you and sorry, and uses them a lot to his advantage [hgrin] He nearly made me vomit yesterday though, we were in the park and he is obsessed with dogs, so was chattering to all the hounds galloping about, and one stopped to let him pet it, and I chatted to the owners. But the dog went to lick DS on the mouth and he licked back [bleaurgh] he smelled of doggy breath for ages afterwards. I'm quite glad we haven't got the dog we planned to get this year though, the smell of dog breath + morning sickness does not = a nice experience!!
