MorningHasBroken - I am not sure what the other 2nd/3rd time Mums think, but I found a pregnancy week by week book invaluable during my first pregnancy. I will be looking to glimpse at during this pregnancy. I will see which ones I had. Of course, if money is tight, there is absolutely no need to fork out on a book as there is plenty of info on the internet. But I felt it help me. :)

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 19/10/2011 17:59

Welcome to Morning and Fubble!

Well, decided to try to sort out a booking in appointment....called the GP's just now to get the number for the midwife. Have I had my pregnancy confirmed with them? Why no, I haven't. Right then, one appointment with a GP booked for 31st October in case the midwife wants the GP to start me on any medication! Errr, right. No idea what that's all about!

My name is also now in the midwife's book. What does that mean? She comes to surgery on Monday / Tuesday to pick up her notes and will then call me at some point to arrange to come to my house for first appointment and to let me know whether she does want me to see the GP or not once she's seen my notes.

Right, I see.

Also got a mail from the IM I mailed for further info - price is a little more than hoped but not out of the usual range for IMs. They seem very nice and have urged me to speak to NHS first to see what they can offer, which is very fair of them!

StarlightMcKenzie · 19/10/2011 18:15

LOL Sounds like a rigmorole where you are!

The good news for me is that my GP seems really decent. He gave me the drugs I wanted, even though he knew nothing about them and hasn't prescribed them before, - all based on my wanting them purely because I had them with dd and she seems okay so I'd rather have them again instead of his preferred ones.

Bad news is that although I have anti-sickness drugs and dd is okay, I still don't REALLY want to take them if I can help it so still sitting here feeling bleugh!

So much variation from area to area re midwifes and drs and booking inConfused

My midwife was happy to see me at 4.5 weeks for a chat then made an app for my booking in when I'll be gist under 8 wks. I'm hoping by being in the system my scan will be on time. It seems so far away but I know it'll pass quickly in a way.

Thankfully my sickness has eased again today, of course whilst I'm enjoying the rest from it it also makes me paranoid something could be wrong. I'm trying to just be relaxed and think whatever will be will be.

I've also gone right off sweet things but mostly only whilst I actually feel nauseous. As I feel fine right now I'm off to Tesco shortly to get myself a chocolate treatSmile

Evening.

Congratulations Morning. As already said the NHS is being destroyed so you will have to manage your expectations and do your own research and persist in asking for appointments/reassurance if you need it. The current gov are attacking services and the impact on women/babies will be huge. Dept of Health already withdrawing booklet 0 to 5 for an online version only which may not be too much of a problem for MN folk but for poorer/no Internet access women will result in less informed mothers and harm to babies. (I could go on but I won't).

Starlight sounds like you are doing the best thing and keeping your options open and trying to be informed and have a choice (isn't that what the Tories are supposed to be about Hmm

Florin me too re waking at 4pm and cannot sleep imagining all sort of terrible things and feeling nauseous if too hungry (just scoffed Walkers Salt & Vinegar) which I also craved last time round.

ReadySteadyDrink · 19/10/2011 19:51

I also woke at 4am last night. I try to get back o sleep but was hungry/nauseous so got up at 5am to eat something. At 5.30, I was back in bed and had only just got back to sleep when DS woke at 6.45!!!

So I am in bed now! Bit of MN'ing, news, emails then sleep.

Night all. hope we all sleep better tonight.
Xx

birdofthenorth · 19/10/2011 20:46

Goodnight Ready! I slept terribly last night, woke every hour at least, for no real reason apart from mind racing- been like this since a couple of days before BFP!

birdofthenorth · 19/10/2011 20:48

NovMama I wholly agree with your analysis of this govt & the impact on maternity care. Fc it doesn't get any worse.

mrsshears · 19/10/2011 21:15

I have just had some brown tinged cm,what do you think?should i be worried?

Rrrrayray · 19/10/2011 21:35

Mrsshears - I think it's only bright red blood we are to be concerned about. As brown is old blood. Was it much?

Absolutely wiped out today. Off to bed shortly.

Welcome newbies.

Hope everyone well xx

mrsshears · 19/10/2011 21:38

No it was only a small amount,i googled it too and it looks like it perhaps isnt too worrying,i will keep my eye on it.
Thanks Rrrrayray

Miniangel · 19/10/2011 22:41

It has been quite busy here today. I have felt sick and tired all day today and on top of that work has been quite stressful. Came home only at 20.00. Alright, moan over.

It's been a week since I saw my gp but have not heard from the midwife yet. He said he will refer me to the local hospital where my friend gave birth and I am happy with it. Hope I hear from the mw soon. The private scan I was going to have on the 24th got cancelled as the consultant deciced to take a last min holiday, have booked for 3rd Nov now. More waiting.

My sister is getting engaged on 29th Oct :) so am really pleased for her. I hope she has the wedding for when I can travel. I had a holiday to Dubai booked on 9th Dec and I'll be 11 weeks then. Does anyone know whether it would be safe?

Starlight Thanks for sorting the lists. It makes it easier to read. Also, birthing plans are a good idea I think. My friends found it really useful.

Goodnight everyone. Sleep well.

Dalrymps · 19/10/2011 23:30

mrsshears doesn't sound too worrying but I know every little thing can be a worry at this stage. I think the others are right that bright red blood and/or pain would be more concerning.

Well, I am also worrying as I feel cranky this evening and haven't felt that sick todayHmm Hopefully I'm just being paranoid. Jeez, you would think I'd be used to all this with it being my third time but I just feel like it's more likely my lck will run out.. Silly really.

Anyone experiencing pregnancy brain yet? I tried to peel an apple with a tin opener this morning Grin Apparently pregnancy brain is caused by most of your blood flow being directed away from the brain to the baby.. Not sure how true that is but that's what it said on my pregnancy app on my phoneHmm

Dalrymps · 19/10/2011 23:31

Bloody iPhone!Angry I meant crampy and that's was supposed to say luck

Kayzr · 20/10/2011 06:34

I've been awake since half 2. I think I've got the odd little nap here and there. But I remember looking at the time at 3, half 3, 4 and half 4. After that I stopped looking at the time. Sad

DizzyKipper · 20/10/2011 06:43

Hello all, mind if I join the thread? I'm 4+4 today, had one pregnancy before that ended in MC so right now the days seem to be creeping by incredibly slowly whilst waiting for the 12 week point. Thought it might be nice to go somewhere where the women will be at similar stages to me.

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 20/10/2011 07:01

DizzyKipper - hi and welcome! Good to see you here.

Well, another lousy night's sleep chalked up here. Feel absolutely shocking this morning and now have a drive of about 2.5 hours to spend the day with one of my teams - then the same drive home. Joy. Can't even stop for a good strong coffee on the way. Can you tell I'm still bitter about the caffeine thing?

So tired I turned the timer off halfway through poaching my egg, put relish on the sandwiches instead of chutney and nearly burst into tears when the battery on the kitchen scales went and we didn't have a replacement.

Roll on the weekend so I can have a lie-in!

Dalrymps · 20/10/2011 08:18

Welcome DizzySmile I understand why the days will be passing slowly for you but you'll suddenly find it's 12 wks and wonder where the time went! As some of the other ladies have said, I find it helps to break it up in to small milestones so I keep looking forward to being 1 wk further along. I'm 7 wks today so next goal 8 weeks (fingers crossed).

Seriouslystrong Poor you, I don't admire you having to drive all that way with no caffeine to helpSad I suffered terrible insomnia last time, hope I don't get it again although already sleeping lighter than I used to. I know this because I keep prodding dh for snoring when usually I sleep right through itGrin I had a real problem dropping off last time so I used to have horlicks before bed ten read a book till I felt tired. I got through 3 books in quite a short space of time!

Not feeling too sick this morningSmile in fact only ever so slightly. Going to try and ignore any worries about this and just enjoy the break! No cramping yet today so I think it might have just been wid as we had cabbage with teaBlush

Dalrymps · 20/10/2011 08:19

wind

vix1980 · 20/10/2011 08:47

Helloooo,

Not been on here so much lately, want to know why, I've actually been sleeping, i know i cant believe it either, after the past few weeks of staying up all night i took cartys super amazing advice to try the bach flower remedies and it really works, i want to buy shares in the stuff! i thought it may be a fluke so didnt take it a few nights ago and sure enough i was awake at 5am watching years old house doctor on tv! so for all the people having trouble sleeping please try it for your own sanity if nothing else.

Dalrymps · 20/10/2011 09:01

vix that's great! Which ones are you taking?

scater · 20/10/2011 09:55

Hello All

Feeling a bit grim today but not too bad. It's very cold here so walked through town to work all wrapped up and felt very cozy!

Big day at work today so baby brain needs to stay away for a few hours.
I too am off sweet things but have been seriously craving a roast beef dinner all week, I am promised it will be prepared for me with love on Saturday:)

Tanamera · 20/10/2011 10:02

Morning all - wrote a long post yesterday which seems to have disappeared...

Another one feeling bleurgh. If I eat too much, I feel sick, if I eat too little I feel sick - so I'm settling for very little, very often - and surviving mostly on bread. And eggs seem to be really appealing too...

Any one else feel like their belly is sticking out already? Mine seems to have remembered the size from previous pregnancies and relaxed back in to it straight away...as I won't be telling work until 12 weeks if I can help it, I'll just have to suck it up!!

I've got my booking in appt tomorrow - I live somewhere different this time, so I'll be interested to see how it differs in location, and now we have a different Government. My youngest is 3.5 so it's been a while...

Hope all sicky people feel better, and the days go fast for those who are worrying

TeaandHobnobs · 20/10/2011 10:06

Morning everyone,

Feeling dreadful today Sad. Was awake much of the night with what felt like mild cramps (or trapped wind Blush) but on trying to get up this morning, the pain was much worse and I broke out in a sweat, felt faint and sick. DH sent me back to bed and I've called in sick at work.
Had a warmish bath to try and help with the pain, but it hasn't helped much. The pain is very one-sided which is worrying me a bit...
Can anyone reassure me that this is normal pregnancy woes?

Kayzr · 20/10/2011 10:36

Teaandhobnobs I'd ring your GP and ask what they think. Or make an appointment to go in. It's better to be safe and check. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Vix I need some of that!! I'm exhausted.
