oohh greengoose that's me too, anything pickled especially picallili mmmhh!

I had my booking in visit today with the midwife, just got to nip out but with dd2 will post later when i get in.

Kveta · 18/10/2011 18:50

oh god, just the thought of beetroot or pickle is making me

nausea has kicked in big time since this morning, am sitting very still on the sofa until DH gets home because any movement is making me heave. just had a bit of a fight with DS over his bath, but he's had an early night, so I can slump for a few minutes.

could really kill for a baked potato right now!!

MammaInTheMaking · 18/10/2011 19:04

So my dating scan has been booked, the earliest possible appointment available in 3 WEEKS!!!!! If my dates are correct I'll almost be 10 weeks gone by then! Have told DP he might as well come along because there will be something to see. I hope it's not too late to be able to have all the necessary tests. Does anyone know?

Nausea has been manageable today so made it through the external meeting.

Just about to tuck into a pie :) am definitely all about savoury stuff at the mo. Sweets and choc really don't appeal much...

ReadySteadyDrink · 18/10/2011 19:08

ooooh - I need beetroot!!!!! I ate it all last pregnancy! What's that about?!

ReadySteadyDrink · 18/10/2011 19:11

This afternoon, I put DS for a nap (he's trying to drop them :(). I then went to bed too. Unfortunately DS didn't sleep, but like you GreenGoose my DH let me have a nice nap (he watched DS when he was meant to be working).

StarlightMcKenzie · 18/10/2011 19:12

Mama, I think past 13 weeks is too late. I think 10 weeks is really early. In our area I doubt very much you'll get that. With DD they wanted to do it at 15 weeks until I pointed out that the tests needed to be done by 13 weeks at which point they just shrugged and said they were busy and that if I wanted it earlier I would have to go private.

I suspect now that actually they are just trying to get people to go private (it was reported in the news that referrals are deliberately taking this long on purpose with this aim) but in the end they arranged it for 13 plus 5.

It didn't matter that much for me because I was a bit meh about the test on the baby because I knew that it wouldn't make any difference to my plans but still Shock

Hi - hope not too busy for another to join? My due date is 6th June (using MN EDD calculator). I'm 42 and trying not to stress too much about that. Doctor (young/female) was decidedly downbeat when I saw her. Booking appointment not for another 2 weeks and scan 6 weeks today. Tryng to be positive about the odds of everything working out ok. This is my 2nd pregnancy. DD is nearly 3. Have wanted a sibling for her almost from the outset - get weepy when think she may end up on her own quite young as we are 'older' parents and she is the only grandchild. Plus anyone got a sensitive c/s scar? Also I look 5 months gone already - so bloated today! Looking forward to getting to know everyone on this fabulous journey.

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 18/10/2011 19:40

Emblosion - welcome!

ReadySteady - I take the Pregnacare too. I do take them with dinner but must admit I find taking vitamins in the evening very weird!

So, told my boss I'm pregnant today. Wasn't going to let her know for a few weeks, but it felt like the right thing to do even though it's very early days. She's so excited for me - I actually got a hug for heaven's sake (she's not normally a huggy type of person!). Am gobsmacked! Felt very weird telling someone.

Well, despite being tired, made it on the treadmill for a half hour walk, followed by a few upper body weights. I only started back in the gym at the weekend after a few months break, but thought I might as well carry on since I'd planned to get back to it. Nothing too strenuous, but I find it really makes me feel better to do some exercise so will aim to keep it going as long as possible.

The one downside of this pregnancy means I'll have to withdraw from the London Marathon next year - and I withdrew this year as I couldn't train properly last winter due to being unwell for a lot of it - so can't carry my entry over again. Ah well, never mind, I'm sure a baby will be more than enough challenge for 2012! Grin

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 18/10/2011 19:42

Welcome Novmama!

ReadySteadyDrink · 18/10/2011 20:54

Welcome NovMama

Well I am off to bed! Lightweight that I am. xxx

thedogwalker · 18/10/2011 21:00

Just posted and then it got lost in the ether.
Welcome to all the newbies, congratulations xx
Had phone call from midwife today to book first appointment, apparantly the village I live in falls in a midwifery gap and therefore I will not get any home visits during my pregnancy,Shock first appoitment is not booked to meet at the Doc surgery and after the birth a midwife may do a home visit but nothing definite Shock x2. I am going to write a letter of complaint to local NHS trust, I don't think it will change anything but it will make me feel better.
Hope everyone has had a good day and is taking good care of themselves and their precious bumps xx

greengoose · 18/10/2011 21:12

TDW how can this be right? I am shocked! They cant do this (I need to stop ranting, its not helpful).... I think you should complain though.....

well booked in to see the midwife on the 8th Nov (on my birthday) and ive gotta take my dd2 with me as she is in the nursery in the mornings so my appointment is in the afternoon (praying that dp had finished work early to look after her but as he's self employed pole window cleaner, its depends on the work if hes behind etc)..... Prob got a water infection again so ve already taken the urine sample in...ouch! and also dd2 told me that im having a baby!!! Shock we've been very quiet around the kids but it was abit bizarre for me!!

i've never had home visits to see the midwife when i was pg as only when i had the baby and a few more to check my cs scar (had a emerg section with dd1).

Florin · 18/10/2011 21:48

Just told my mil she was so excited she was actually jumping up and down, was really lovely.

Dalrymps · 18/10/2011 22:36

Florin That's lovelySmile

thedogwalker Shock indeed at no home visits after the birth. Don't think I got by whilst pg last time. The first time I was pg my booking in app was a home visit but I lived in Newc then and don't anymore. Last time I had several home visits after the birth from the mw's, sometimes I went to see them but that was my choice as they asked what was easiest for me..

Nausea been terrible today, all day long till tea time when it magically vanished! Enjoyed eating my tea whilst not wanting to vom for once Envy

greengoose · 18/10/2011 22:52

dairymps glad you managed to enjoy your tea!

Its lovely to hear about all the people who are sharing news now, it makes it all real doesnt it? Ive only told my mum, and she was not so chuffed, thinks Im a bit old for another (38), and that my body is telling me that coz Ive had two MCs. Never mind, cant wait to tell friends......

I am putting off calling the doctor, I think Im nervous to do it so early, but Ill do it by next monday if still ok, as I want an early scan at 8weeks. I might relax slightly after that!

molejazz · 19/10/2011 03:37

Well that was brief... the faint line really did mean something and I started bleeding yesterday. I don't feel too upset, just disappointed - I think because I only had a week thinking I was pregnant and most of that was dealing with the 'holy crap' feelings rather than the 'oh wow how exciting' ones. Still I think it does tell me I want to get going on our second sooner rather than later, so I think we'll be working out when to start ttc later, over a glass of Wine!

Best of luck to everyone on the June journey :)

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 19/10/2011 06:53

molejazz - sorry to hear your news. Hope it goes better for you next time.

I'm tired again this morning - not sleeping well at the moment for some reason. In training all day again today so best try and look awake!

Debating about calling the GP's to get the number for the midwife to sort out a booking in appointment for a few weeks time, but not sure whether it's still too early. Will ponder on it through the day.

Kayzr · 19/10/2011 08:19

Molejazz sorry to hear that. [hsad]

Seriously I'm due the day before you and I have my booking in appointment booked already.

MammaInTheMaking · 19/10/2011 08:36

On a train. Feel sick. Oh goddddddd....

Dalrymps · 19/10/2011 09:01

molejazz sorry to hear your newsSad Hope ttc goes well and you fall pg soon.

mamainthe Sorry your feelin sick on the train. It's such an awful feelingSad

I decided to take two digestives to bed with me last night to eat before I got up this morning. Took a glass of water too. Managed to eat one digestive but the boys promptly stole the other oneHmm Think it helped a little anyway as I didn't feel quite as sick whilst making breakfast..

Dalrymps · 19/10/2011 09:02

you're

thedogwalker · 19/10/2011 09:48

Greengoose Shock at your Mum, I am 39 next week and I don't consider myself too old at all. Yes this will only be my 2 DC, but I'm leaving options open for DC No 3, which will put me well into my 40s. As long as you stay fit and healthy then there should be no problems. I don't think you're too old hun Smile.
Molejazz sorry to hear your news, good luck in the future for ttc, do lots of swi Grin.

How awful mamain, hope the sickness has gone away.
I have been awake since 4 am. What is that all about??? I am knackered everynight when I go to bed and I fall asleep very quickly but wake about 5ish, this morning was just taking the Biscuit. I need my sleep Zzzzz Zzzz, hard to focus on anything at work, any excuse to get onto MN Grin

Kveta · 19/10/2011 10:38

hi all

sorry to hear your news Molejazz - good luck with all the TTC!

I just told a couple of colleagues (in strictest confidence!) that I probably won't be here for a course we're running next year, and both were really really shocked. Strange, since most people have been nagging me to have a second child for at least a year. But then I do work with geeks.

not too sick today so far, just a bit nauseus a couple of times, hope the sickness stays this way rather than developing to full blown chucking.

It's absolutely baltic here at the moment, and our heating still isn't working. DH finally agreed with me that it was cold last night, it's taken a while to convince him! thank god for hot water bottles and thick duvets though, brr! better go and call the boiler engineers again and check they are still coming tomorrow!

working9while5 · 19/10/2011 10:48

I am going for private scan tomorrow, hopefully should show 6 weeks +4 or 5... it is silly really to do it, what it can tell you is limited because the chance of miscarriage even after hb at 6 weeks are not that dissimilar to if you just waited it out (78%, when it's 4 in 5 anyway).. but I am going to Mallorca for half-term with my family and I have been having pains and some spotting that I am unhappy about. I hummed and hawed about it because I don't want to spoil my holiday if the scan is negative news, but at the same time I had this sudden panic about say, having an ectopic in Spain and being terrified and not able to speak the language. While the scan won't guarantee me anything, if things aren't as they should be I think I will feel more prepared and at least I won't have that fear of an ectopic/it being life threatening as opposed to just painful and sad. I also feel if it's not going to be that I would rather know and get my sangria in the sun rather than spend the week feeling pregnant and thinking about being pregnant etc to come home and find out it was all for nothing. Wow, that's cheery stuff isn't it? God I HATE EARLY PREGNANCY!
