Congratulations sparrow! Brilliant news!SmileSmileSmile

I don't know if it's because this is my first pregnancy but I just can't get it out of my head, I think its worse because we're at that really annoying stage where you can't tell anyone and I work with my dad every day and am desperate to tell him he's going to be a grandad! I just can't wait for these next few weeks to fly by!

Annoyingly I have a family party to go to this weekend, having always been up for a laugh/good drink at these events I'm wondering how I'm going to disguise the fact I'm not drinking- any ideas gratefully received! Xx

MammaInTheMaking · 12/10/2011 10:45

Hi to all the newbies. It's getting busy in here now :)

Have been doing an awful lot of going for a wee, coming out the toilet and then realising i still need a wee so going back in again. I bet people at work think i've got the runs or something! Literally stop in my tracks, about turn and off to the toilet again!

I'm seeing my GP on Monday and think he'll be quite surprised to see me as i got a BFP on the post MC cycle. Really don't know what he'll do or say or anything but i'm excited.

Obviously no bump or anything but do feel like there's something sort of solid in my tummy. Was full of sumptoms at the weekend but not so much this week apart from the boobs!!!!! OMG, i hardly fill a B cup and they've been so painful and now i'm thinking about maybe a C cup :D

Kveta · 12/10/2011 11:00

congrats to the newbies! clearly september was a busy month :o

Mamma - my jeans are starting to feel tight, so I'm wondering where the hell to get maternity trousers - I was in the US last time, so got all my clothes from Walmart - they are very generously sized, which is great, but they didn't last long, and have all pretty much disintegrated in storage. Any ideas for mat clothes for a fatso? (size 18-ish in trousers)

millyv - I'm telling some folk already - like DS's childminder, and nursery, and a few other people who will be supportive if things go tits up. I've decided that telling people early makes no difference to the outcome of the pregnancy, and gives you a good support network if things go wrong. I haven't announced it to the world though, just a few people! I want to tell my parents in person this time, as last time was on Skype, from america - their reactions were not good ('who's the father?' from mum and 'that's your life ruined then' from dad. I have 3 siblings btw, and had been dating DH for 6 years at that point :o), but DH and I weren't married at the time, and we were wroking in different countries, so it was all a bit unexpected from the family's point of view!! this time, we've been married a year, and everyone is asking when DC2 will be on its way, so the reactions will probably be 'oh, right. pass the mustard.' :o

Kayzr · 12/10/2011 11:07

We've told both sets of parents and our brothers. My Mum sort of squealed at me despite this being number 3 for me. She said I need to have a girl so she can buy pink flowery clothes Grin

Kveta I feel the same as you, I don't personally think telling people early will make any difference to the outcome. But I understand that for some people they would rather not tell anyone. I am far too excited to wait to the 12 week scan.

sparow · 12/10/2011 11:08

millyv don't worry you definitely aren't the only one. I can't think about anything else! I should really STOP it and try and do some work.

Really glad to hear from others that they are having problems sleeping too. I thought it was because i am a stress case! I keep waking up to go for a pee and then cannot go back to sleep. I also have horrible IBS which isn't helping as my tummy is full of knots and is really painful. I just lie awake and can't think of anything nice...my head fills with horrible things. I can also hear rats eating the walls but the rat man came today so hopefully they'll die soon....ridiculous!

xxx

millyv · 12/10/2011 11:19

Sparrow- I too get ibs and for the last two weeks have been a total nightmare but fuming enough since I got my BFP it all seems to have settled down- fingers crossed it dies for you too!

We might tell both sets of parents but as they are life long friends and dh's patents are on holiday for another few days- we'll leave off telling mine until his come back. To be honest I can't wait to tell them but I think that's all for a little. Although I have already told my gym instructor to make sure I'm doing classes I'm allowed to!

Thank you everyone for being so lovely , in sure we'll all have z lovely 8 months chatting to each other!

Xx

millyv · 12/10/2011 11:20

Fuming = funnily- silly iPhone! X

millyv · 12/10/2011 11:21

Oh gosh, I really should re read my posts lots if spelling errors! Dies = does!

Does anyone else's phone add random words? Blush xx

birdofthenorth · 12/10/2011 11:23

Sparrow I have a mice issue at the moment so I can sympathise about the rats! I just lie awake at night imagining I can hear them even though I really can't, then when I eventually fall asleep I dream of mice, or have nightmares about DD1 somehow getting out of her cot, going downstairs to the affected (locked) cupboard and sticking her fingers in the mousetrap... fairly much impossible (she is 13 mo) but tell that to my subsconscious! Then of course my subconscious starts obessing about miscarriage and I flit in and out of dreams about mice, babies and phantom tummy aches!! Dear, oh dear, I'm not as insane as I sound!!

millyv · 12/10/2011 11:25

I hope you start getting some sleep soon, without the vivid dreams! I always find if I've had a night of dreams like that I may as well have been awake all night as I'm shattered! Have you tried some camomile tea? Clipper do a really nice orange and camomile one, not sure if ghat will help you? Xx

birdofthenorth · 12/10/2011 11:32

Yes I've bought some camomile tea, need to remember to drink it at night now!!

I think your body temparture gets raised in early pg too which doesn't help with the restless nights!

MammaInTheMaking · 12/10/2011 11:33

Yuck rats! Eeewww i'd be running a mile. I hope they get shifted sharpish.

Kveta i'm not too sure where i'll be shopping for maternity clothes. Have seen ASOS do them so might go there, but apart from that i've not given it much thought. I'm much more excited about buying baby things and prams and so on :o

I must say i've been really lucky with the sleeping thing. Feeling so knackered in the evenings it's not taking me very long at all to nod off. Am appreciating it very much. I hope you all start getting good nights rest soon.

birdofthenorth · 12/10/2011 11:34

Millyv I am also OBSESSED with my pregnancy, can't concentrate at work! I don't know how you're managing not to tell your dad every day, if it was me I'd cave in and tell him, so long as he kept hush until 12 weeks!

millyv · 12/10/2011 11:34

I have also stopped drinking too late, otherwise just as I'm dropping off my bladder goes on high alert and I'm back to square one! X

millyv · 12/10/2011 11:45

If I told my dad before my mum - or I should say not at the same time she'd kill me! I always go to theirs on a Wednesday as I go to netball later on in the evening and theirs is closer than my house- I have no idea how I'm not going to blab- I'm rubbish at keeping secrets!

I will have to tell them by next week as I think this will be my last week playing, although it's supposedly a non contact sport that's not always he case, going to show up tonight and say I have a bad back and then feign injury for the next few weeks!

I'm falling asleep absolutely fine- just absolutely shattered come the night it's just the peeing that keeps me awake!

Xx

birdofthenorth · 12/10/2011 11:56

Millyv I've already told ILs and BF and will tell my folks tomorrow... who will probably say it's way too soon after my DD!

Kveta I'm a size 16 and found Peacocks, Asos and New Look pretty good for maternity clothes last time. And Asda online. Also loved Blooming Marvellous but unfortunately I think they've now shut down!!

birdofthenorth · 12/10/2011 11:59

Forgot to say Next is great for maternity clothes too, although I never got on with their maternity jeans. Lived in their maternity leggins though!

millyv · 12/10/2011 12:08

How old is your dd birdofthenorth?

Carty80 · 12/10/2011 12:45

Right, spoken to SIL who recommends white chestnut drops, part of the Bach flower remedies. 4 drops on tounge before bed and repeat if you wake up. She couldn't remember actual tablets she gave me and was going to pull out my notes but she said to try drops first. She would then have to do a "consultation" before saying which tablets so if you wanted to go that route maybe best finding a homeopath near where you live. Disclaimer : I am not a homeopath nor do I completely subscribe to their beliefs but everything worth a go!!

I have told my BF and mine and DH family. Actually I text them all so they could get their "they are crazy" thoughts out before I had to talk to them and they only had to say congrats! My parents have 6 grandkids already so they thought we were all done!

birdofthenorth · 12/10/2011 13:12

Might try those drops Carty, thanks!

Millyv DD is 13 months. Only been back at work a month, they aren't going to be impressed!!

MyMamaToldMe · 12/10/2011 13:34

Thanks for that Carty - I'll buy some as soon as I can get to a Boots! My problem is falling back to sleep once I have been woken up (by DD usually!) So hopefuly these will work. :)

I haven't told anyone yet although I saw someone I know in the supermarket the other day and I must have look particulary bloated as she right out asked how far along I was! Told her early days and to shh! Not really planning on saying anything until after the scan. I keep catching myself about to say something baby related at work though, so I really have to concentrate on what I am saying!

Sparow that is such brilliant news - you must be over the moon!! Congrats!

Agree with Next looking good for maternity wear - I was just looking at their site at their clothes and they look really nice -much more on offer than the last time I was pregnant!

ceeej · 12/10/2011 13:42

Sparrow and Milly, I also find myself thinking about the pregnancy constantly, particularly as I have none of the symptoms people are suffering from yet, keep thinking I somehow imagined all those pink lines!

We're telling my parents next week because they live in Singapore and we happen to have a visit planned, I'm considering booking a 7 week scan privately when we get back as I think seeing a heartbeat would be reassuring and might stop me worrying.

When does the bump begin to show? I'm in the final stages of writing my PhD thesis at the mo and am worried my supervisor will freak out a bit so hoping I can leave off telling her until I've actually handed in.

Kayzr · 12/10/2011 13:45

Birdofthenorth Mothercare now own Blooming Marvellous so they have some of their clothes.
