Blimey :) We seem to be getting through them faster and faster!

Oeisha · 03/09/2011 17:40

Naaa, we're just "highly socialised due to pg"...

fish Hope you're pain goes soon.

redheadbedhead · 03/09/2011 18:47

hooray for spotting imminent thread demise, addicted.

I am cooking a roast chicken despite feeling a bit sick...bleurgh. is this a good plan i wonder....

had an argument today with my mother on the phone (we don't really get on) about PUSHCHAIRS of all things. this is only going to get worse isn't it? the 'advice' and 'you really should think about' and 'well, you may think that now dear, but we'll see' sort of conversations.... Angry

I want to sling the baby for a bit before deciding on a pushchair or even getting one at all. And I just want a crappy 2nd hand one for babysitters. I might change my mind later, but I want to do what I want to start with!! My mum wants to buy me a super dooper one. I think it's a massive waste of money, because I'm pretty sure I won't hardly use it. i didn't say that, because if I did, she would be offended. In fact pretty much anything I say that may come across as disagreeing offends her. In fact I just offend her. Sad

In the end she was trying to persuade me to get a pram by saying 'you'll need it for sunny days like this, you know, for in the garden.' ??????? My garden is about 4m long.

Sorry for the venting. She drives me insane.

fishandlilacs · 03/09/2011 18:54

well done shonno

I'm not sure what to do about this pain-just started a thread about it in chat. I basically have an hour to decide to go to drop in centre or not. I'm feeling ok-ish but not top dollar. The pain is still there. :(

redheadbedhead · 03/09/2011 19:00

fish, i reckon if you are worried, just go to the drop in centre. No harm in it is there?

Oeisha · 03/09/2011 19:04

I hear your pain redhead. I plan on going down the sling/carrier route, and just can't really believe how bloody expensive all prams/buggies are. M&D are insisting on paying, and despite arguments, they are going to be.

I, in the end took the advice of my brother... "they've got the money and want to spend it on it, you don't and have better things to spend money on anyway...let them if that's what they want"

I do however want a pram/buggy system, so slightly different to you...I already get back pain, and would like to palm LO off on others allow grandparents/friends (we're the first in the set essentially) to have a go at pusing her about...I know some won't like the carrier idea.

But I do understand the frustrations of parents doing the 'we know best' thing, and totally get the feeling that I'm constantly offending my Mum. I don't think she understands my underlying feeling that they don't treat me like an adult, and thus them buying me stuff's a reinforcement of this...but that's just how it is and I need to get over that - mainly because my parents are FAB and I don't want my underlying neurosese to influence LOs feelings towards them. See...I over analyse waaay too much...

Oeisha · 03/09/2011 19:06

fish get thee to the drop in centre...

ParsleyLion1 · 03/09/2011 19:15

fish I'd go. You'll only worry if you don't.

fishandlilacs · 03/09/2011 20:06

nah-i'm alright I think ..whispers...I need a big poo :)

Octo cake is all kinds of awesome-I am so pleased with it. It's very amature but I'm quite chuffed with my efforts!

I have a pram already, but given the nursery run and knowing how hard it is to push a pram in snow I have been thinking about a sling. We were given a carrier thing sec ond hand when expecting Dd but hardly used, felt a bit weird wearing it. Maybe it wasnt a good fit.Hmm

Anyways, my sis inlaw is in labour!! Yeah!!! So excited! They are only here for 1 more year before emigrating to Oz so Im soooo looking forward to spoiling this baby while I can Grin

fish how are feeling, did you go to the clinic?

shonnomanom · 03/09/2011 20:14

Sorry fish cross post there. Glad your feeling better x

OP posts:
fishandlilacs · 03/09/2011 20:16

Nah shonno-sitting down has helped a lot, I am off for a bath in a minute. A couple of paracetemol and some sleep will see me right!

I am going down the sling route as much as possible, i believe in "baby wearing" and found it very easy to get around when DD was little. back pack on the back and baby on the front. We have been given a fabulous jane travel system but it's 8 yrs old, very heavy and hard to put up and down.

shonnomanom · 03/09/2011 20:18

Ah sorry Fish hopefuly you will feel brighter in the morning then x

ghosteditor · 03/09/2011 22:28

found you! gosh it's all go today!

Moobee · 04/09/2011 10:09

Glad you're feeling better fish.

Something I've been wondering about - I started with a BMI of about 30. By 10 weeks, I'd put on 7lbs already as I was eating to stave off morning sickness (so I was already 7lbs heavier by the time of my weighing in appointment). Since that's past, I'm eating sensibly on the whole (but quite a lot) and I've put on another 3lbs in the last 12 weeks, so 10lbs gain in total. I want to be careful and not gain too much weight, but I'm surprised I've changed so much in shape but not gained. Is anyone else tracking their weight and if so, how is it going?

supadupapupascupa · 04/09/2011 10:26

Hi moobee i'm tracking because I started with a BMI of 39 Shock

So far since falling pregnant I've put on 6lb which i am really chuffed with. I haven't changed my diet which tbh is pretty good anyway (most of my weight is from years ago when it wasn't so good!)

However, I look as though I've gained a stone at least! I put no weight on at all until 16weeks partly due to feeling sick all the time I think and going off chocolate Grin

fishandlilacs · 04/09/2011 10:37

I'm tracking/being tracked by a pilot nhs service specifically for weight management in pregnancy-it's for any women who have a high BMI.

I put on 2lb initially, then 5lb and she hasn't been yet this month. i dont weigh in between if I can resist.

My BMI is over 40!

mummyzoe2012 · 04/09/2011 10:44

3 more sleeps till i can update the stats thread.

is anyone else still suffering with sickness.

ive got my craving over the last few days, galexy choc its soo lush.

ended up in a proper mood lastnight when my daft dog ate nearly a full bar when i left it for two mins to nip to answer the door. still in a mood with him actually.

ive not been weighed since the booking in appointment but everyone says ive lost weight when ive clearly got a huge bump on the front but do not look pregnant from behide still got my shape and everything, is that the norm mind you i am still being vialantly ill.

greenlady78 · 04/09/2011 11:43

hello there, and thread 4...wowowwow! Glad to hear everyone is well :) So annoyed as bought the Dream Genii pillow (or whatever is called!) and brought home to try it and for me it was utter rubbish!!!!

The back is not thick enough to sop me rolling over, the leg is not long enough...so taking it back and buying two extra pillows instead! Very disappointing indeed...to be quite hones I am very slim (wished I was fatter!) and if that pillow at the back cannot pad me, I do not know how can it work at all....I think it is a great idea, but not executed so well....

I think some of you use it and like it, I wish I did :(

Have a lovely Sunday everyone!

xxxx

trubble · 04/09/2011 11:49

Hi all, another new thread - jeepers we're getting through them!! Had our scan on Friday and it's a baby boy. Seems more real now. Also makes it slightly cheaper as all the hand me downs are boys - bubs is now kitted out until about age 8!
Scan went well, was in and out in 5 mins although this sonographer did manager to p me off by commenting on my notes about my BMI. grrrrrrr its not even that high and I'm actually the same weight now as I was pre-pregnancy. I think cutting out booze and eating healthy has countered and baby gain I've made. Which made did make the comment all the more annoying. The other one didn't feel the need to make a comment. Anyway - rant over :)

Now started having conversations about baby names. We're fairly set on names but its great fun teasing everyone. Anyone ever noticed how you can't imagine a baby named Keith, Sidney, Terrence, adults yes - but on babies just seems wrong!!!

Wormshuffler · 04/09/2011 12:26

Morning ladies my bmi was 29 and I gave now put on a stone! It is getting me down a bit but I, like a few others on here also have to eat to stop myself feeling queezy. I'm picking up a hand me down Moses basket and stand tomorrow but am getting really silly about buying too much. I got talking to someone the other day who just had to tell me about her daughters friends baby that never came home from hospital. Cheers for that love just what I needed to hear!
Happy Sunday all

Mum2be79 · 04/09/2011 13:15

My bmi is 31. I've got a glucose intolerance test on the 26th because of it. However at my booking in appointment I was 79kg (or thereabouts). Just weighed myself this morning and I'm still the same!?!? The maternity jeans I bought slide down me. Oh well, more shopping. Now that can't be bad!

Back to work tomorrow for me. 2 days of teacher training (staff meeting, CLIC training -although done it as trialled it in school, Safeguarding and Fire training - heavy days!) and kids in on Wednesday. Counting down the days until 2nd December. The secretary (or business manager as that what she prefers to be called) is probably cursing me now. I have only 4 full weeks at work as midwife appointments and hospital appointments take over. Living an hour away from work, I need a whole morning/afternoon off. (Although I was very naughty and decided on a midwife slot mid-morning so that I'd arrive at work at lunchtime!!!)

fishandlilacs · 04/09/2011 13:17

trubble welcome to team blue x

wormshuffler I know why do people not think before they open thier big mouths, i'm sat with a freind of mine the other day and they are not sure if thier daughter has chicken pox or not-I said well if it does turn out to be chicken pox let me know because i'm pregnant and all that. With that his father, who was also there, pipes up "oooh yeah a friend of mine had measles during pregnancy, thier poor baby was a vegetable for his whole life til he died at 15" (his words not mine) I was Shock and I had to say something. I just said "mmm yeah , appropriate story to tell a pregnant woman, thanks for that. with a sweet smile. Some people!
