awww mopsy thats brill :)
I can't wait to feel movement! and goos look with the scan! I am just looking in to 3d scans as i type lol

lalababy · 01/08/2011 11:36

Hi All...
I actually picked up a stokke cot yesterday at a really great price on ebay. It was in great condition and I just love the fact is goes from a bassinet to a cot! :) Now I need to find a decent dresser to match!

I haven't decided on a pram yet... I want something light easy carry it up and down the stairs in the london tube, plus small enough that if fits neatly on a bus. But at the same time I want something sturdy and easy to push...! Bugaboo bee seems to be the most popular option in London but it looks a bit flimsy and given the high price tag! Hmm

figgy I have heard good things about the baby jogger... but I haven't tried it out yet.

kri5ty i know i am loving these DIY nursery ideas.

Neira I believe that you could find out about the classes from your local NCT group. I am up in Queens park and am also curious about what might be available - so let me know if you find something.

Still PAITENTLY waiting for some MOVEMENT and my SCAN!!!!

figgygal · 01/08/2011 13:06

Husband loved the baby jogger and the fact you just pull a strap across the seat (which baby usually sits on) and it collapses in half he was pushing it around the store like a crazy, he does not recommend the Quinny Zapp Xtra (which he was also wondering about with) as the basket sticks out and he kept bashing it with his shins.

Anyone used bambino direct for anything? I have seen the jogger i want, footmuff and carry cot £60 cheaper than the site i almost bought it off of yesterday, i may just bite the bullet and buy it now for a grand total of £323 (the travelsystem i had looked at initially was £750 all in).

Oh and its my first day in my maternity work trousers today have had to finally accept defeat weighed myself and have put on a stone at 21 weeks not happy about it but seems to be in line with what is suggested at this stage as still ok. My sweet tooth has been out of control the last month or so need to curb it and have big bags of fruit with me today for the week....not the same though!!

figgygal · 01/08/2011 13:36

Ok i just impulsed and bought it and with the savings have got a raincover and hanging pouch thingy for the handles that i can put drinks and stuff on (husband will love it he loves pouches and hangy things). Already had my radley baby bag from the sale so didnt need a matching one of those!!

I have just seent i have won 3 tops on ebay all for less than £4 each including postage and a dress for £7, loving my bargains today. Not loving so much the babies r us vouchers that i had emailed today when bought the cot there sunday and could have saved £15 ah well.

lalababy · 01/08/2011 14:27

Yeah... I really need to go to a shop and play around with the strollers. I have looked on line heaps but I guess the proof is in the pushing it around (and collapsing) The jogger has great reviews on mumnet as well... so I think you have done well figgy!
I have bought a few tops from ebay as well... (it would be funny if we are all bidding against each other!). I also bought a black maternity skirt from Dorathy Perkins on sat for a grant total of £3.00!

I haven't gotten any maternity pants yet as I have been using the belly belt. So I am still able to wear my regular pants as long as I have a really long top cover the extension. Although I think I will end up caving soon... as at somepoint I might want to be able to zip my pants :)

Sorelip · 01/08/2011 19:01

I'm getting weird sensations now, I think he's having fun in there! Must have had a big stretch on Saturday night, as part of my stomach got REALLY hard and stretched...my mum thinks that was his bum :o

I've been in maternity trousers since around 12 weeks, I was really bloated, and baby has now replaced bloat.

littlelilou · 01/08/2011 20:45

Hello all, another lurker here! Finally taking the plunge and joining in.

Have had my 20-week scan today and there's a little wriggler in there, woo!

It is funny to think of all those movements when we can't really feel anything yet isn't it? Although baba made itself known the other day with a huge kick that took me by surprise, felt a little like the film alien but in a good way...

Anyway, a big hi to all fellow December mums to be x

kri5ty · 02/08/2011 08:20

hiiii littlelilou lurker :o lol

awwww im so jealous of these movements! I think i had a kick last night.. but i was half asleep so not sure if i dreampt it, but it felt like a sharp, fast sensation (twice), so im not sure if it was, or just a ligament pinging away lol

Awomancalledhorse · 02/08/2011 11:00

Hi lilltelilou, glad your scan went well.
DH finally got to feel Squatter 'kick' last night (almost 20wks), which was lovely for the first 3/4 movements but by about chop-socky 40 I was a bit tired! Grin

sorelip, I have just had to make to move to a bigger trouser size as my bump has grown overnight!!

mopsytop · 02/08/2011 11:27

I thought I felt the bean move a night or two ago but nothing since, so maybe I imagined it. Am impatient to feel it for sure!

lalababy · 02/08/2011 12:03

mopsy there a few of us in the same boat... waiting to feel the movement... sometimes I feel a flutter - but not sure it might just be a tummy rumble or something!

lilltelou welcome and congrats!

kri5ty · 02/08/2011 12:18

apart from those two movements last night (that may have been a dream as i was asleep) i have felt nothing, not even fluttering!

NorthernChinchilla · 02/08/2011 12:25

Hello Littlelilou, glad another lurker's joined! I am back up North at the moment for a week's break seeing family and friends so am posting when I get the chance. Have left DP with lots of heavy lifting jobs and re-arranging upstairs for the nursery on the hottest week of the year as I relax up here Grin.

I've been in maternity stuff since about wk 10: I was fine if I were doing anything normal, but if I wanted to do anything crazy like eat or sit down I couldn't breath, so just gave up and embraced the elasticated waistband!

Although I still have nearly three weeks to wait for my scan I have been lucky with the movement though, as I can feel it internally and now externally too: tends to be I get a wake-up thumping and and good night thumping, with various odd kicks in between. However, I only really feel it when I'm not at work, ie not having to run around like a mad woman.

Will catch up soon, fingers Xs for all those waiting impatiently for movement!

figgygal · 02/08/2011 13:10

Back in normal clothes today my bump definitely changes every day, it is moving up and now my whole torso is baby it hurts if i press down on it too much and is quite solid. I was sore yesterday sometimes worry i will just burst and not stretching out quick enough.

Ive been feeling small movement since around 16 weeks and then it stopped the week before the scan so convinced myself something was wrong but it turned out to be the placenta positioning. I have had a pigging awful day at work today so went to starbucks at lunchtime for a frappucinno i think they are my craving i think of them constantly and for the last hour it is like a drum is going on down there lots of movement like when you run up the stairs and you feel your heart beating in your chest (that is the best way i can describe it).

lalababy · 02/08/2011 13:38

I am in my £4.00 maternity skirt today and it is like heaven! I can't believe I waited this long... everything feels so soft and I don't feeling anything restricting or digging into my side! I love them so much - I might always wear elastic bands... forever!

I have been craving sweets like there is no tomorrow. I usually don't eat or even like sweets, but now I must have a muffin, cake, chocolate or something everyday. Its awful... coz I know I am not eating healthly at all plus no exercise! I am never going to loose my pregnancy weight!

mopsytop · 02/08/2011 17:34

To change the subject entirely, what are you all doing re: baby's surname? I didn't change my name when I got married and I am thinking of calling the baby baby my surname-husband's surname. Then it will have a different surname to both of us, but part of it will be the same. I have received opposition to this idea from both sides of the family. What do you girls think?

OP posts:
littlelilou · 02/08/2011 19:41

Ah thanks for being so welcoming, I shall lurk no more!

mopsytop I think combining your name and DH name for your baby is lovely idea, can't see why anyone would object?

All this talk of maternity clothes has tempted me to treat myself this weekend, but maybe will start with eBay and see what bargains are to be found!

On another note, has anyone else's baby taken to bouncing on their bladder? Mine appears to treat it like a football - it's really painful when it gets a good sharp jab in, owwww!

kri5ty · 02/08/2011 21:04

Mopsy I had a double surname as a child, it was fine for me, I dropped one of them (due to a awful dad) but I'd say go for it! It's a great idea as it will have both of your names!

Lala do you know what you're having? Are you finding out? And yup... he hasn't moved off my bladder yet!!

newartriotstar · 02/08/2011 21:53

I had my scan today. All was well with baby and we got some amazing photos! We didn't find out what we were having as we don't want to but don't know if we would have been able to, baby was v lazy and lounging around with their legs crossed! It's making up for it tonight though and is wobbling around in there again.

With the name thing, we're giving ours a double surname with a hyphen. We're not married and if/when we do eventually get round to it I'm not changing my name. We like the idea of the baby having both names and have been doing it with the cat at the vets for ages and it's never caused a problem!

mopsytop · 03/08/2011 11:10

Oh good, glad I am not the only one! Ours are both one-syllable names so it isn't too long. My family are just anti double-barrelled names for some reason.

I'm dying in this heat anyone else struggling?

Have a fan blowing in my face but still feel hot and bothered I drink lots of water anyway so not convinced I could physically drink more than I do.

mopsytop · 03/08/2011 22:09

Yes figgy HATE this muggyness. Ugh.

OP posts:
figgygal · 04/08/2011 07:56

Hooray it's pissing down with rain long may it continue!!!

Wearing mat trousers and mat top today the integration into mat wear is complete. God they make me look HUGE But look pregnant at least now

NorthernChinchilla · 04/08/2011 10:26

This is it Lalababy, once you have embraced the dark side that is the joyous elasitcated waistband you never want to go back.... Have to say I'm finding dresses more comfortable than anything else, as I never liked anything tight round my middle at the best of times, and now I'm pregnant it's doubly uncomfortable. However, have a v v comfy mat skirt from Topshop, that's just a band of black lycra it seems, which is most comfy 'bottom' by far.

On the names side, we're in a similar situation- not married, although been together donkey's, and even if we did I'd keep my name. I however, have both my parents' surnames but not double barrelled, and my parents are long since divorced. I want to pass at least one on, and am planning to give one of them depending on which goes best with the other middle name we're choosing and/or covers either side of my family which has not been named checked by the other middle name(like bloody algebra this...) as he's wanting the baby to have his surname, which I'm fine about.

Soooo, it'll be first name, second name (which will hopefully 'namecheck' some of the rellies on each side), one of my surnames (ditto) and then his name. This is the point at which I just want to call it 'baby' for the rest of its life...

Absolutely widdling it down here too!

mopsytop · 04/08/2011 11:53

figgy in spite of it lashing here, still exceptionally muggy. Want it to be fresh and cool! got soaked twice earlier mind, on my bike to and from an appointment, and strangely really enjoyed it!
