Had to start a new thread, as our old one got too big to post anymore.
yay figgy - your scan sounds great! A wee boy - now you only have to think about boy names. Woohoo.

OP posts:

So glad you enjoyed the pedi mopsy, they are so worth it, and that the headache's receding. Got my last one booked for 3rd December, although should probably get another in the diary for January.

Got a bloody busy weekend tbh- got to get up early to get to the Post Office, and then off for a two hour first aid course at the local Sure Start. It's the one bit of advice/instruction I'm doing (bar the amazing wisdom of MN and fellow December first-timers of course) as I'm pretty rusty on all that stuff, plus I've never covered baby & infant specific 1st aid.

Then we've got my Dad and family coming over on the Sunday (with the cot, hurrah!)

We spent nearly two hours trying to sort out the nursery and clothing last night, just about there now...

Thread name...ummm....will go off and think!

NorthernChinchilla · 25/11/2011 19:56

December First-Timers- ...

"Light at the end of the tunnel"?

"Stopping, dropping and flopping"?

"Bumps to babes"?

"Father Christmas Vs the Stork- fight!"?

Sorry, all I could think of in the past couple of hours whilst cooking and feeding DP, please feel free to suggest others Smile!

sazzermol · 25/11/2011 20:30

What about
'presents arent the only thing we're hoping will be 'dropping down the chimneys'!'

OiMissus · 25/11/2011 22:18

Or "I'm a baby, get me out of here!" Smile

OiMissus · 26/11/2011 09:14

Or another homage to reality tv
"baby, you have been evicted, please do not tear (me apart)."

LondonGirly · 26/11/2011 09:34

Oi I like the I'm a baby get me out of here one, or Northern bumps to babes
Fingers crossed babies start making an appearance soon!

Going to make a lemon drizzle cake today and then off for another walk whilst ignoring the any sign of the baby coming text messages!

Anyone up to anything exciting?

OiMissus · 26/11/2011 10:36

I like the bumps to babes one too. It's the double meaning of getting babies, and us all becoming babes again as we get our figures back. ( not that I ever was a babe before, and at 39 yrs can't really be described as a babe at all, but ssssh no one needs to know that, and the "first-timers" part makes us -and therefore me- sound young. Grin)

OiMissus · 26/11/2011 10:39

Mmmmmmmmm lemon drizzle cake! Is there anything more delicious?
Probably just going to do a bit of crimble shoppery at a craft farm today, stroke a donkey or two, interfere with some goats and then take it easy. Grin

NorthernChinchilla · 26/11/2011 12:42

Donkey interference seems like a good way to spend a Saturday Grin.

We've just done the first aid course, very worthwhile. Would recommend if you've got something similar.

Cake is definitely sounding like a good option- we're just about to set off to the shops and so will add that to the list. DP wants to brave Bluewater for baby stuff but I so cannot be arsed and it will be heaving and people will die.

I forget london because you're so far on you will be subject to those texts for the next 1 day to 3 weeks, depending on baby's willingness to arrive! It must drive you mad- people mean well, but from what I've read on MN it's one of the most irritating things about late pregnancy, up there with the inability to bend, swollen ankles, etc.

Know what you mean Oi- think I've once been described as a babe, but it was NYE and the young man was very drunk, but of course we'll all be total babes and look fabulous in the pictures (cough!)

bennybenbear · 26/11/2011 15:23

Hey OI can u let me have the details for the craft farm I've been looking for something like that round here. Are u planning on aquanatal 2mrw all being well for more labour inducing exercises?!

figgygal · 26/11/2011 15:27

oh my god i am sooo bored!!! If he doesnt want to come out i will have to wait until the 21st December until they will induce me i just cant bare the thought of it and have only been on mat leave a day. Ladies who have been off longer tell me it gets easier and my mind is going to switch off from work and i will adapt.

Just been out for a long walk which is going to be the daily routine until he decides to come out, the gravity must help right?

Have a meal at friends tonight which will be last social gathering before baby arrives then need to think about setting some routines for in the week.

OiMissus · 26/11/2011 16:58

I agree that mat leave is dull. It needs a baby to help fill the time.
Bec - I've sent the farm details on facebook.

OiMissus · 26/11/2011 17:02

Btw the donkeys were lovely. The young calf was adorable and loved his cheeks and chin tickling. And the tiny black piglets with twirly tails made very cute squeaking noises. The goats weren't on the mood for interference today and kept their distance.
However, the lemon and White chocolate muffin (in the coffee shop) more than made up for their insolence.

LondonGirly · 26/11/2011 21:20

Figgy I very rarely think about work now and you do get into a routine on maternity leave. Don't get me wrong though, I am more than ready for this baby to make an apperance - 39 weeks now.

At the moment I am on a tidying phase - the house has never been so organised. I love cooking, so have been taking advantage of the time to make some different dishes.

I've tried to make sure that I meet up with people at least once a week, so I know that I am definitely going to get out of the house - other than the daily walk.

Make sure you take advantage of being able to nap during the day. I read somewhere that this was a good plan because labour often starts at night, so if you have managed to have a nap during the day, then you won't be so down on sleep!

NorthernChinchilla · 26/11/2011 23:57

Heh- I'm the same figgy, the thought of a baby doesn't faze me at all- the thought of what I'll do in my whole 7 working days off work before sprog arrives sends me wibbly!
Definitely get yourself a routine, sort of 'pretend work', even if it's just getting a paper at 9, reading it over a coffee til 11, calling parents at midday, doing some cooking in the afternoon, etc.

But what were you doing to make the little piggies squeal Oi, hmmmm?!

Loving my weekend naps, but not sure I could 'allow' myself to do that during the week, almost feels too indulgent, which is bloody ridiculous.

Oh, and we are getting the cot tomorrow, but not the entire family as my Dad called tonight to say he'd just realised that they couldn't get everyone plus cot into car...he's actually really intelligent, but words fail me sometimes Confused

kri5ty · 27/11/2011 12:49

all the talk of cake.. i had the most yummy afternoon tea yesterday! i am still dreaming about it now!

I braved reflexology the other day (i hate feet lol), but i actually enjoyed it!!

As announced on the other thread i am tres happy about losing my mucus plug today haha :o

how is everyones weekend? x

kri5ty · 27/11/2011 12:53

lala thanks for the info about your sis and the episiotomy.. it makes me feel better about it!

northern and awch they have said he is likely to be back to back now as my placenta is at the front, and he cant fit in to my pelvis any other way as it might be in the way!! It makes sense as he has been anterior right up until my last antenatal visit when i was 4/5!

NorthernChinchilla · 27/11/2011 13:16

Ooooh, might we have our first first-timer hatching soon?

Sounds like he's in a novel position kri5ty- at least they seem to be monitoring you and him well, and you know what's coming. From friends and here on MN, it's when these things aren't known before you go into birth that it causes the biggest problems.

God alone knows what position my one's in. When I woke up this morning, I kid you not, it was entirely flat down at the business end, and I had a HUGE lump on the left side of my rib cage (think one of Pammy Anderson's boobs going walk about...)

Dad and DP upstairs sorting out cot- DP a little unsure as cos the cot's about 15 years old, there's a bit of 'modification' going on. I'm entirely happy with second hand, but he comes from a family where it's buy everything. Anyhow, they're keeping themselves happy with the contents of a tool box- but I'm getting bloody hungry now, so think demanding to be taken out to lunch comes next Grin!

How's everyone else getting on?

kri5ty · 27/11/2011 13:39

haha i burst out laughing to the Pam Anderson comment... maybe bump just wants to be close to your heart!! :o

I know its silly to get excited as labour could still be 2/3 weeks away... but at least i know things are happening now, and the back ache etc isnt just in my mind!!

kri5ty · 27/11/2011 13:40

ooooo what are you thinking for lunch?

NorthernChinchilla · 27/11/2011 17:39

It was very weird, but I like the idea he wanted to be close to my heart!

We went off to Pizza Express, had canneloni (sp?), and then as we didn't have time for pud got some Italian cakes and pastries from the little cafe across the way.

Got the remainder of my homemade pizza for dinner, so Italian theme runs through the day!

Bit of a disaster with the cot though...it's not really staying together. DP is pulling his hair out, and I'm now a bit caught.
My feeling is 'sod it', as it's not major and a bit of glue could fix it. However, I know DP will be wanting to go and buy one, and will also grumble to his family who will start flapping money at us. I want to be loyal to my family and also think it's a waste of money to get a new one.

DP gone upstairs to calm down and have a roll up. This could be an interesting evening- we've got the City game recorded and this is one of the few times I'll hope they'll win as it'll put him in a better mood...

On another note, three days left at work!

OiMissus · 27/11/2011 18:51

Oh maybe it was reflexology that loosened the plug Kristy. maybe I need to book a session, and I'll lie and say I'm overdue so they'll help out. I'll sign whatever they give me!! Smile

kri5ty · 27/11/2011 20:03

It might be oi she said my body was too tense and wouldn't give birth because of that, so she worked on relaxation. She didn't even do the stuff to induce me... I lied and said I was a week closer than I am... so she will start doing the inducing at 39 weeks... you should fib too!

OiMissus · 27/11/2011 21:53

I'm beyond 39 wks, so maybe I won't have to lie. Interesting about not being relaxed enough - I'll work on being more chilled out tomorrow!

kri5ty · 28/11/2011 09:06

Yes she did some movement and my legs were really stiff, she said if my body is too tense then my pelvis and stomach muscles will be too... stopping him from moving down

I'd def give it a go... I'm having contractions now (at least I think I am) its in my back though ... but they were lasting about 20 seconds before I went to bed, now they are between 40 and 60 seconds. Need to get some co cocodamol in... and wish I had bought a tens machine lol
