Had to start a new thread, as our old one got too big to post anymore.
yay figgy - your scan sounds great! A wee boy - now you only have to think about boy names. Woohoo.

Any one else had morning sickness 18 weeks nearly and had projectile vomit 6 times this week in the morning ewwww dont know if having surge of hormones cause my nails have suddenly gone super long and my hair!!

vicannhawk · 22/07/2011 20:24

Hi pregnantmimi, I've had sickness come and go past this mark - I'm 18+5, but it has slowed down. I've got a feeling mine's a girl, but all I want is a healthy little one :)

notlettingthefearshow · 22/07/2011 21:51

I'm due on Christmas Day! I wouldn't have chosen that, but just so thrilled to be pregnant, I'll make the best whenever it's born.

I've been having pains / general discomfort in the last week or two - that stretchy crampy feeling, which the midwife said was normal. Having a bath helps a bit as does paracetamol, but it has kept me awake a couple of nights.

No movement as such, no bump, no weight gain - but apparently this is not unusual as I was on the large size to start with! And I'm only about 18 weeks. I hope I get a noticeable bump though - cannot wait for that.

Not sure about my favourite thing - think probably when I am at work or doing something, not thinking about the baby, and I remember I'm pregnant. It's still such a special feeling and a feeling of wonder.

pregnantmimi · 22/07/2011 23:11

vicanhalk are you going to find out at 20 weeks?

Littletonlady · 23/07/2011 12:09

Hi, I thought I should join this thread. My due date is the 9th December. I am a high risk pregnancy and stand little chance of making it full term. At the moment I am on Cyclogest to give my a progesterone boost. Trying to stay optimistic and follow consultant advice to the letter. Luckily now have 6 weeks of summer to relax. Whilst I am anxious I have decided to focus on the 80% chance we have that baby will be old enough to survive being born early as long as can get through the next few weeks.

Cherrypi · 23/07/2011 12:35

My nails have gone into overdrive too. Good luck littletonlady. Hope it goes as well as possible.

I've just watched the Nhs from bump to breastfeeding video and found it so reassuring. Hopefully now have the confidence to rebuke some of the out of date advice I've been getting from relatives. Breasts are pretty damn clever aren't they? I never realised.

newartriotstar · 23/07/2011 14:08

The other thread got too big very quickly!
I've finished work for the summer holidays now and am looking forward to enjoying being pregnant and researching big purchases! I've bought nothing for the baby so far apart from some vests in Primary that were 75p!
I have my scan on the 2nd of August and am cautiously excited!

Littletonlady · 23/07/2011 16:54

Thanks Cherypi. I'm glad I am not the only one who needs to go shopping over the holiday as only have a couple of items of clothes.

kri5ty · 25/07/2011 07:33

I dont even really feel pregnant yet!! i have a small bump but it just looks like tub under my clothes! I had no symptoms at all, so apart from having a rounder belly than normal i wouldnt have known otherwise!!

I still have no movement, but last week nugget must have moved right to the front, as it felt like a massive weight pulling down inside me! that was nice to feel actually as i am still paranoid something is wrong!!

We are finding out the sex on thrusday :-)

mopsytop · 25/07/2011 14:06

I still haven't felt any movement and am 18 weeks ... I guess I won't for another few weeks. Can't wait though!

20 week scan today at least baby is fine. I had already planned to breast feed but today got introduced to the breast feeding expert at the hospital and her knitted model breast. It just looked like a knitted cherry bun.

TeacupTempest · 26/07/2011 14:54

knitted model breast!?!?!?

Awomancalledhorse · 26/07/2011 14:57

Mmmmm knitted model breast, must ask MIL to knit one for me!
I've been feeling 'flutters' since about 16wks, now 19wks.
I have had a really itchy bump the last few days, I know I am growing as I've put on a 1lb in a week & no longer can get my jeans done up!

TeacupTempest · 26/07/2011 14:58

Bump seems to be growing (feels huge) but so desperate for next scan to make sure all is well. Having it next Monday so not too long now.

mopsytop · 26/07/2011 15:13

My bump is growing too as are my boobs (again - sigh - will have to buy yet MORE new bras) but I just feel really really fat and unattractive!
Still no movement, sometimes I think I can feel something and then realise it is my heart beating really loudly somewhere around my bump. Dying to feel the bean move!

lalababy · 26/07/2011 16:08

Ah there you all are! I was getting paranoid... I left for a few days and my entire support network disappeared!!! Goodthing mopsy redirected me. Thanks!

Figgy - congrats on the scan and the lil baby boy!!! :)
Lara congrats to you too :)

kri5ty - no movement for me either other than stretching pains:( But on the plus side I am glad my tummy is getting bigger... it was feeling so tight I want some more space so I don't have to pee all the time!

Viccan - best thing about being pregnant... been offered a seat on the tube 4 times already... although it only happens when I wear a maternity top which makes my bump look much bigger than it is :o

mopsytop · 26/07/2011 16:09

I just ate a whole box of cherries. Oops!
Still, better than eating a cake!

lalababy · 26/07/2011 16:10

oh and kri5ty... your baby shopping thread was awesome!

mopsytop · 26/07/2011 16:16

Oh yeah kri5ty I was looking at that thread too! really useful!

Cherrypi · 26/07/2011 17:14

20 week scan today and all was ok. It's a boy! Lala very jealous of you getting a seat on the tube. I didn't when I was in London for the day. Though did notice men eyeing up my tummy instead of my cleavage - very weird. Now to think of more amusing initials to inflict on my son Grin

mopsytop · 26/07/2011 17:32

Congrats Cherri - so it seems mainly boys at the moment - I wonder will it even out over the next couple of weeks ...

Is everyone finding out?

figgygal · 26/07/2011 19:01

Aw another boy!! been at home in Scotland all weekend feel like I've put on a pile of weight just last few days had a frappucino to finish off the long weekend and baby was bouncing around in there.

Got my follow up scan appt through today another midday appt do they think people don't work my last 2 have been at that time don't want to ask them to change it but not looking forward to tell work again.

mopsytop · 26/07/2011 19:02

I'm the same, scans all around lunchtime. Will your work be snotty? You are legally allowed that time off.

OP posts:
YBR · 26/07/2011 21:16

Figgy, Mopsy, I'm so glad I'm not the only one! Since I don't work in the town I live in, nor the city where my hospital scans are, I keep having to ask if there's a more convenient appointment, otherwise I land up taking a whole day off for a short appointment.

I know I'm entitled to reasonable time off and my boss doesn't seem bothered, but I don't think that constitutes reasonable time off.

I know there's always the working at home option, but the nature of the job is that it's rarely possible. Doh!

figgygal · 26/07/2011 21:29

I work in HR and know i don't have to feel guilty but cant help it have a sickeningly high work ethic or something.

Was supposed to be in London that day for meetings I'm going to try and change the appt I think or at least call them and gauge their reaction.
