Had to start a new thread, as our old one got too big to post anymore.
yay figgy - your scan sounds great! A wee boy - now you only have to think about boy names. Woohoo.

Ps for those of us that were worrying about not feeling movements yet, my placenta is right at the front, acting as a shock absorber, and he is still very low down on my bladder, so thts why i havent felt anything

figgygal · 29/07/2011 13:22

Aw another boy and Kri5ty my placenta is exactly the same though have been feeling more movement this week since the scan.

Our nursery is jungle themed too husband put the borders up and the stickers at the weekend we got a jungle themed clock and DH bought a load of monkeys for what he calls him "monkey jamboree" bless him.

Getting annoyed now cant find a car seat to fit the back of my car (Small japanese import with bench style seats) as they all too big and overhang the seats or butt up against the back of the seat in front which is a no no i really dont want to sell him (the car that is) waited about 5 years to finally buy one but i fear i may have to as there is no point having a car where we cant go out as a family in it (the belts dont stretch enough to get round the baby seat if the car seat is forward enough for an adult to sit in the back). We are going round all shops sunday for another look i will be very stroppy i can tell as am desperate to keep the car :(

Awomancalledhorse · 29/07/2011 13:36

figgygal we had to get rid of our car (small french commuter thing) in order to get a car that can fit more than one car seat (we're planning on having another LO asap, so it makes sense to be prepared)..we've ended up with a HUGE German estate car. And people say kids aren't expensive Grin

kri5ty congrats on the boy, for those who have already had their 20wk scan is it REALLY obvious if it's got a penis/nothing there?

MissRee · 29/07/2011 14:13

I'm massively jealous of all you 20 wkers!!!! I'm 18 wks tomorrow and my scan is another 3 weeks off yet Envy

lalababy · 29/07/2011 14:36

kRI5TY yippeee.... congratulations on the baby boy! Now you can do lots of decorating and planning :)

Funny how no one has had a girl yet... just lotsa little baby boys. I still have a week to go till I find out.

Good about the info re lack of feeling movement... coz I haven't felt a thing yet.

BTW does anyone else feel itchy on their lower tummy... for some reason I have recently been feeling really itchy wherever I wear elastic (undies / bras etc)

lalababy · 29/07/2011 14:39

FYI kri5sty and figgy - on the DIY nursery decorating ideas thread there are some great links for wall stickers. Corkythe cat just added a link for lots of jungle animal stickers which look pretty good.

Sorelip · 29/07/2011 15:20

Awomancalledhorse during my scan it was very obvious that I'm having a boy. Of course, DH is as proud as can be :o

Sorelip · 29/07/2011 15:23

I've got backache and heartburn today, and I feel HUGE. And my bum aches. Really should get off of it more often!

figgygal · 29/07/2011 17:39

We had said when we went in we wanted to know and even if we hadn't u couldn't avoid it it was very obvious!!! Sonographer was laughing about it and I hadn't been looking really until then but even I didn't need it pointed out to me it was there with bells on

NorthernChinchilla · 30/07/2011 11:02

Hello- just a quick intro message as although I've been lurking big time I've only just joined up. Love the idea of having a little support group, as only have about three relatives in the world and the nearest are 100 miles away. DP here though!

Sprog due on either 18th/19th December- midwives keep on crossing out one and putting the other (as if it matters given the two weeks it could be either way at the best estimate!)

Unfortunately round our way they only do the scan at 22 wks, and I'll be closer to 23 wks when they actually get round to doing it, so although 20 weeks tomorrow have ages to wait. The world and its wife thinks it'll be a boy, so I'm plumping for a girl, naturally...

sazzermol · 30/07/2011 11:10

Aw girls I haven't been on for ages but just catching up on all your scans has been fab! I've got mine on Tuesday but don't want to know sex- bit worried it may be unavoidable now judging by some of your little mens' assets!!

Also super relieved to hear that you are all having little/no movement yet- I'll admit to having a little melt down yesterday that something was very wrong, even hubby (who is normally the voice of reason) was getting twitchy.
At least I've only got 3 days to wait to see the mini one for reassurance.

Kri5ty can you link to your shopping list? I have 3 bibs and some socks so far, oh, and a box room full of junk that is supposed to transform into the baby room at doom point, eeek!

Enjoy your weekends ladies! Just being mosey now - how many of us are teachers? Noticed lots of ref to the 6 week holidays! And as were all about the same EDD when are you all going on maternity?

sazzermol · 30/07/2011 11:11

Eeps sorry for typos Grin

newartriotstar · 30/07/2011 12:39

I'm a teacher. Due on the 27th of December and intending to work up to the Christmas holidays which is the 16th. I might end up going earlier but I'd like to be at work as long as I can to keep busy and to get maximum time with baby afterwards!

kri5ty · 30/07/2011 13:42

Aww thank you everyone :) and for all of you are still waiting I hope the time passes quickly!

awomancalledhorse it was very obvious... I couldn't see the screen, but OH could whilst they were checking everything, and mouthed 'BOY!' then I asked if she had been able to determine the sex, and when she showed me, it was very obvious... similarly OH was very proud it was that obvious!!

lalala I will look at the jungle wall stickers :) I love that thread of yours! We put our cheapo cot up before and it looks lovely!

saz I will try and find the link :)

kri5ty · 30/07/2011 13:46

to buy list here saz there is a brill post from AKDM on there, even mentioning which are the best maternity pads!

Neira · 30/07/2011 13:56

Hi - I am due December 26th :-) and am looking for antenatal classes here in Marylebone. Any tips on where to go/ what the options are? Thanks!

figgygal · 30/07/2011 22:06

Well managed to spend a small fortune today bought cot bed mattress and a dresser thankfully the bill is going to the inlaws. DH needs things bought now I'd happily wait until 6-7 months but he needs to organise and so happy for him to be carried away if it makes him feel more involved.

After a tour of mothercare halfords mamas and papas and babies r us have accepted no baby seats r going to fit in back of my car though did find a pushchair that will so was a bit happier going to have a baby jogger city mini (had wanted a travel system but with car seat issue doesn't seem any point and this goes from birth but will last up to school age). Anyone else thought about prams yet?

NorthernChinchilla · 30/07/2011 22:48

Yep figgy been thinking about prams, mainly because DP has reverted to type and is dead excited about the pram bit because it's technical/has moving parts- you should have seen him when we got a Dyson, kept him amused for hours...

I'll need something that is good for taxis and trains- I don't drive and my Mum, who is very disabled, lives 300 miles away, so need something where I can take it on the train and transfer the 'seat' to a taxi/friend's car etc.

We're lucky to be getting 95% of our stuff as hand me downs, so this is the one thing I'll spend a bit of money on, especially for the safety element around the car seat.

Will be researching for sometime I think...

Awomancalledhorse · 30/07/2011 23:59

Figgy , we're getting a Maclaren XT techno (cheapest we've seen it is £164) as I'll be on the bus/my feet most of the time so we need something that folds easily! Really don't see the point of travel systems.

Hi NorthernChinchilla, I'm the other way round to you! Everyone (aside from Dh & I) think we're having a girl so I'm hoping for a boy!

Kitty5824 · 31/07/2011 12:43

sazzermol I had my scan on Thursday (19+1) and our little bean was raving away so much that I've got to go back for another scan so the sonographer can actually do the heart and spine check...just kept wiggling out of the way no matter what the poor woman did!!

At one point DH said he saw a complete somersault to get out of the way :o

I've still no felt a single thing that feels any more than slight wind, felt very strage to see all that movement without feeling a thing!!

sazzermol · 31/07/2011 18:32

Kitty5824 thats reassuring for me - thanks. Glad your little one was entertaining - possible future career path?!
Kri5ty thanks for the link - invaluable!
Been feelking really 'meh' today, lethargic, hot and sleepy despite a good nights rest. Think maybe baby is having a growth spurt in there and zapping all my energy :o

Cherrypi · 31/07/2011 19:04

I'm a teacher too! Having pram buying issues. Where's the top gear for prams hey?

kri5ty · 01/08/2011 07:35

we got our pram at the weekend :) it was a hauck condor 11 Mickey mouse one, it is a travel system, really light (which i need), and i did a lot of research on it, and couldnt really find a bad review!
The money side of it is what deided it for us,as a friend bought it and i didnt want them spending a fortune, it was £270 for the pram, car seat, carrycot, footmuff, changing bag, rain cover and parasol :) and its lovely!!

kitty its soooo strange isn;t it, not being able to feel anything, yet knowing they are having a rave!

saz you are welcome :) i have it printed off as a check list!

mopsytop · 01/08/2011 11:30

Hey everyone,

I think I felt the bean move this weekend! When lying down in bed. It's hard to tell as it's very sort of light but I definitely think it's the baby. Hope will get more pronounced this week so I can be sure.

Scan on Monday, can't wait!

mopsytop · 01/08/2011 11:31
