Had to start a new thread, as our old one got too big to post anymore.
yay figgy - your scan sounds great! A wee boy - now you only have to think about boy names. Woohoo.

Chinchilla glad I am not the only one! surprised by how much opposition I have met with from friends as well. Is strange I think.

lalababy · 04/08/2011 13:36

Chinchilla taken your advise and in a dress today... heavenly :)

mopsytop I didn't change my name either when I got married. Similar to Chinchilla I am giving the baby by hubby's last name and use my last name as a middle name. That way that baby will have a connection with both names but not end up with a double barrelled name.

Plus what happens when baby gets married... grandkids with triple barrelled names :)

mopsytop · 04/08/2011 14:02

Yeah that is a point loads of people are making to me lala but I think then they can just choose one of their names? Still not sure whether to go for doulble-barrel or middle name. Probably double-barrel as both are names are really short so it doesn't make a really long name. It's tricky though!

OP posts:
lalababy · 04/08/2011 14:37

Frankly there are enought ppl with double barrelled names that it shouldn't be an issue anyway. The usual reasons for not wanting a db name are that - it gets too long for legal forms etc, that that there tends to be mix ups in legal documents (i.e. some write one last name, the others the other) ... stuff like that. If your names are relatively short - it wont matter.

In general I have found... that with somethings (including baby's first names!) the less opinions the better... !!! Just do what makes you happy and hubby happy!

mopsytop · 04/08/2011 14:48

Yeah I think I had better stop asking people's opinions, rather just present as a fait accompli after baby is born!

OP posts:
lalababy · 04/08/2011 15:08

Good idea! And surely, no one will say anything once the deed is done.

I mentioned a few baby names to people and everyone has an opinion... "that was my boss's name and he was an arse" or my favourite... "but isn't that a fat name!"

What the hell is a fat name???

mopsytop · 04/08/2011 15:10

!! haha, defs better to keep it to oneself methinks!

Is there something weird going on with this post it seems to have lost some posts i can only see up to yesterday afternoon by my ipod app says there has been posts today? my PC (or me) might be bonkers today!!

22 weeks today follow up scan at midday fingers crossed they can see everything they need to this time and he is still happy bouncing about in there.

lalababy · 05/08/2011 10:38

Good luck - figgy I am sure everything is gonna be great :)

figgygal · 05/08/2011 13:51

Just back yup he was much more accommodating today And they got everything they needed all looks well. Having quite clearly seen again he is definitely a boy (it's sooo noticeable I've no idea how people can't see them or get it wrong on scans). getting used to the idea however Went thru hundreds of boys names last few weeks still not particularly enthusiastic about any sure it'll come.

Cherrypi · 05/08/2011 14:52

Glad your scan went well figgy? Anyone else's baby suddenly started really wiggling? I was told I had an anterior placenta so wasn't expecting to feel that much. Was rocking out for a couple of hours last night and quite a bit today. Will I feel it less as the amount of room decreases I wonder?

NorthernChinchilla · 05/08/2011 21:43

Glad everything went well at the scan figgy and your little boy is healthy. Know what you mean about the boys' names though: I really don't mind what we have, but part of me is hoping for a girl just because choosing a name is so much easier!

Agree with lalababy and wish I'd not mentioned any names to anyone. My Mum thinks our fave choice for a girl is horrible, which has kind of ruled it out. Am going on a short break with DP at the end of the month and we WILL come back with a shortlist of names!

Baby quite active, was able to let my Mum feel a kick on her birthday on Wednesday, which was great- first grandchild syndrome and all. Hopefully sprog will perform for DP tonight/tomorrow morning. I of course now am worrying each day if I don't feel precisely as much movement as I did the day before, so something else to try not to be totally neurotic about....

Two weeks now til scan... still total Envy of everyone else who's seen theirs for the second time!

YBR · 06/08/2011 11:19

Morning!
Since most of you will be a bit ahead of me (EDD Dec 22nd) can I ask if you have received the MAT B1 forms yet? and if so who did it come from?
I'm not seeing my MW until after 25wks so I'm not sure if it should come at my 20 wk scan on Monday or from my GP who I see on Wednesday.

NorthernChinchilla · 06/08/2011 11:34

Morning YBR

Similar EDD (19th). I had to chase my HR team for paperwork something chronic, and then the bloke from HQ wouldn't come and do the health and safety check on me because our team, which is off site, "wasn't part of his job description" and told my line manager to do it...Shock. Made me feel like falling down the stairs just to get him sacked...

Anyhow, when I did get the paperwork it stated that I'd get the Mat B1 will be issued sometime after the 20th week of pregnancy by my GP or midwife. I've come home to a call from my GP stating to get in touch, so guess that's it.

figgygal · 06/08/2011 18:22

Bloody knackered today DH and I been tromping round the Wiltshire country show for 5 hours might work off some of last nights dinner with friends and the cheeky glass of wine I had....whoops.

On the mat b1 side I've been told will get it at my 24 week appointment am sending in my mat leave dates next week (22wks) and will follow up with the mat b1 once got it.

NorthernChinchilla · 07/08/2011 16:56

Blimey, five hours round the Wiltshire county show sounds too much like hard work for me! Impressed you managed it.

Have spent all day at home, in peace and quiet, eating, reading, going on MN and catching up on the washing, which has been heaven.

Just waiting for DP, his Dad and brother to get back from the football- can greet them with extreme smugness as United beat City- and you can guess who supports which team Grin.

mopsytop · 08/08/2011 09:17

Hi everyone, scan in a few hours! exciting! But also nervous, have been having nightmares about miscarriages/stillbirths for the past few days - clearly my subconscious showing my nerves!

OP posts:
lalababy · 08/08/2011 14:12

YBR - Essentially the form doesn't come from anywhere, you need to request it from either your GP or the MW. When I went to the hospital for my 20week scan, I quickly ducked into the antinatal clinic and asked the reception for the MAT1B form. They bascially looked at my antinatal notes and completed the form within 1 minute and gave it to me. I assume your GP is able to do the same thing as well. The form is literally half and A4 paper with your name, EDD and the hospital/GP stamp and signature.

Mopsy Good luck... so excited for you :)

kri5ty · 08/08/2011 14:22

good luck mopsy :o and congrats figgy hehe

we have decided not to tell anyone the name we have picked, as we kept deciding, then getting put off by people, so now we have THE name... but are not telling people, i dont think people will be as cruel once the baby is born!

northern i phoned my dad last night with great smugness also!!

YBR · 08/08/2011 14:32

Well, this morning's scan proved that Baby is as stubborn as me already Blush! It was all curled up in an awkward position and refused to move.

The sonographer manged to see most things but I've got to go back next week in the hope that they can see the heart and lips clearly next time. What seemed most odd British was that the sonographer appologised, when it's definately not her fault that baby refused to co-operate!

mopsytop · 08/08/2011 16:04

My baby cooperated on the checks (all fine, thank goodness!) but refused to open its legs! So we won't know the sex until it pops its little self out into the world! so relieved all is well though, don't really care what the sex is at all!

OP posts:
kri5ty · 08/08/2011 17:18

Its good to know im not the only one with a stubborn baby! The sonographer spent 40 mins jabbing my tummy for it to move... luckily it did it the end!

Glad ur scans went well girlies

NorthernChinchilla · 08/08/2011 20:29

Oooh, more scan news! Can't believe that so many had unco-operative babies though.

YBR, glad all went generally well, and am sure the heart and other bits are fine- did you find out the gender, or not want to, or was baby in too funny a position to tell? That's classic re the sonographer though- it's the definition of Britishness that I read, that you can ID someone from these isles in any situation as they're the one who apologises when you stand on their foot...

Ditto mopsy- I have a funny feeling too that when people ask 'boy or girl' I'll have to reply,' no, it's an awkward sod' and leave it at that. Really glad all went well and everything's present and correct, and hope the bad dreams will stop now too.

kri5ty I have to say, although it took great effort, I was distinctly non-smug as all three returned, £50 lighter of pocket and with glum faces yesterday. It took massive restraint...however we're watching the highlights tonight so will re-live the smug feeling! Injury time, ahahahahahha!

mopsytop · 08/08/2011 20:40

Thanks Northern - feel big relief. Was really quite nervous. So happy now that everything seems okay. YBR I nearly was going to have to come back as the baby wouldn't turn around so she could check its heart and face but luckily it moved enough for that. Hope next week goes well - on the plus side you get to see your little bean again!

kri5ty · 09/08/2011 10:16

erm i think i felt movements for the first time last night?

Kind of like a dying fish flapping around in my belly, but very faint!
