Relieved that at least one of you found it! Wink Grin

tiggersreturn · 19/05/2011 16:32

marking my place. Restingkitty after convincing me to have a cs I said ok book it in then and was told they wouldn't do that until 3 weeks before!! All that arguing for what then?

MorningsMadness · 19/05/2011 22:12

I'm here, any news on Dachs?

MrsStevo · 19/05/2011 22:37

OMG! I seem to have charged up the list! I remember being at the bottom not so long ago. I still haven't accepted the fact that I'm having babies so this seems all very odd.

But VERY exciting! Grin

I've been discharged from Birmingham now and am back under my Lincoln consultant. Babies looking good size-wise but what was the bigger baby with lots of fluid around him/her now has considerably less fluid than the other one. Apparently that means that when they did the surgery they didn't laser the placenta exactly in half and the little baby got the bigger half. They think the fluid difference is still within normal ranges though so still aren't panicking.

Still thinking of dachs. Can't imagine what she is going through :(

tiggersreturn · 20/05/2011 09:29

Not good news. The op failed and they have said she just has to lie there and wait. She's currently bleeding and not in good state.

MorningsMadness · 20/05/2011 10:09

Oh no, that is heartbreaking, can't even imagine how she is coping.

holidays2010 · 20/05/2011 10:53

Oh no, how terrible. I really hope she'll get the support she needs. :(

Tigersreturn, I never had anyone force cs on me, they were reluctant even when twin 1 didnt show signs of dropping down and moving his head into the correct position, they just kept discussing what to do next...and trying to buy me more time (if thats possible!)...Turned out walking and a good 'massage' of the cervics from the Dr (quite unpleasant) got things going again.

tiggersreturn · 20/05/2011 12:08

Holidays - I'll be vbac and type 1 diabetic, neither of which make them keen to keep me in labour for too long.

I'm going for a wait and see approach.

At the moment trying to decide whether I'm going on holiday in about 5 weeks. Advice is I can't fly past 28 weeks (I'll return at 27+1) and I need to have access to medical care while out there. Dh has reminded me that I have an old friend who is Spanish whose father is a consultant near where we're going so I'm going to try and get in touch for a recommendation and his number in case anything goes wrong. It shouldn't but ..... and I'm feeling rather freaked by Dachs' awful news.

silverangel · 20/05/2011 12:58

Mrs S so pleased to read your post - I got diagnosed yesterday with severe TTTS, little baby had no fluid at all, big baby was distressed with way too much fluid and heart not working properly becuase of the stress. Had the laser, which was very bizarre, and both babies still alive after an hour. Now, the waiting begins, next scan on Tuesday. They removed 1.5 litres from around the big baby and you could instantly see the difference in my belly.

I would say to anyone expecting ID twins that if you think there is something wrong to go and get checked out - I had a niggling feeling that there was something wrong and they said to me yesterday if it had been one day later the little baby wouldnt have made it as far as surgery.

MrsStevo · 20/05/2011 17:06

Oh silverangel, I'm so, so sorry to hear your news. It took me straight back to all the emotion I went through 6 weeks ago now. Ours were exactly the same - I'll never forget the image of the smaller baby stuck without any fluid and not moving. But if your babies were still alive after an hour then that is great news. Where did you have the surgery / who did it? Ours was at Birmingham Women's Hosp with Mr. Bill Martin who was just lovely.

The wait until Tuesday will seem like a lifetime but just take it as easy as you can. If there's anything at all I can help with please PM me, I'm here if you want to chat or just vent to someone who knows what you're going through. If I can give you one piece of advice though - don't read anything at all about it on the internet as it will freak you out and there's no need for it to. Just rely on what you were told by your consultant and keep everything crossed. Wishing you all the luck in the world x x

MorningsMadness · 20/05/2011 22:15

Oh silverangel, you poor thing, what a dreaful thing to go through - take care of yourself. There are just no words.

silverangel · 21/05/2011 17:59

Thanks Mrs S and Morning. Professor Nikolaides (sp?) At Kings College in London did the surgery (watched by I am not joking, about 30 students!). Luckily I have been under Kings because of the twins and was there for it to be diagnosed as they did the surgery pretty much straight away. Just had a local anaesthetic in my tummy and that was it.

Feeling strangely ok about it all today - have felt lots of movement which has to be a good sign so keeping everything crossed for good news on tuesday.

Hope everyone else is doing ok and thinking of you Dachs x

MrsStevo · 21/05/2011 18:57

Silver - Sounds like you had fantastic care at Kings. I've heard nothing but wonderful things about Prof Nik (he's referred to as Kypros at Birmingham, think that's his first name). Very good sign that you can feel movement too! I was only 20 weeks when I had mine and hadn't felt any movement so didn't have a clue how things were in there. Anyway, I have everything crossed for you and your little ones and will be thinking of you on Tuesday - let us know how it goes.

Just read Dachs' update on the other thread and had a sob. Just heart-achingly horrible. So, so sad for her :(

tiggersreturn · 21/05/2011 22:33

Silver - glad things are looking better.

I just read the news about Dachs and am so upset. She's been trying for over 7 years to have a baby then lost one and now this. I can't quite believe it.

Sending all the love and hugs in the world to Dachs xxxx

holidays2010 · 24/05/2011 07:19

Poor Dach, i cant imagine how shes feeling. Shes in our prayers.

Silver you have a scan today no?

I wonder where most of our twin mums to be have gone...victoriasecrets, Tabby..etc?

I dont think we have to keep posting the names of those who have had their babies, i should have just posted twin mums to be. nvm :S

OP posts:
restingkitty · 24/05/2011 08:27

Silver - sorry to hear your news but all sounds positive so far. Hope all goes well today.

That is so absolutely tragic for Dachs. I can't imagine how she must be feeling. I hope she has family and friends to take care of her.

It makes my little moans and niggles sound completely ridiculous. Those of us who have had uncomplicated twin pregnancies are incredibly fortunate.

Take care everyone

silverangel · 24/05/2011 12:09

Good news from me today - both hearts still beating strongly, lots of movement and fluid appears normal for both. Have a scan on Thursday at Kings to see if the recepient twin's heart as recovered but all signs seem good at the moment.

Hope everyone else is ok x

holidays2010 · 24/05/2011 12:47

Thats great silver, glad you're all ok!

OP posts:
MrsStevo · 24/05/2011 14:46

silver that is FANTASTIC news!!!! SO, SO pleased for you! Keep us posted on how you get on on Thursday. Very happy for you :)

I have spent another afternoon at the hospital today for another scan to monitor blood flow to babies - all looks ok. Have had my first steroid jab today as well in case babies have to be delivered before 34 weeks (FX they won't, but just in case). I have to say that it HURT LIKE HELL!!! AND i've got to go back tomorrow for the second batch :( Still, well worth it if it helps the babies' lungs to develop in time. Growth scan and meeting with my consultant on Friday to see how they are doing. FX for that being all ok because I think if the babies haven't grown enough then they will whip them out.

Blimey this twin pregnancy lark is stressful! I can't wait to meet these feisty litle beasts but reaaaaaaaaaaallly hope they don't arrive for a good 8 weeks yet!

SadlyNoLongerDiffedDachs · 24/05/2011 17:03

Hello all. Thanks for all the good wishes. I may not be posting but I am lurking. Your support is appreciated! Heading home from the hospital tomorrow. No idea how I'm going to cope, but I'll have to try.

DH and I are going to go away for a little holiday together to try to work through some stuff, so I'm trying to focus on planning that at the moment.

Giving birth to babies I knew wouldn't make it is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. Definitely harder than my earlier loss. We had a naming ceremony for them yesterday and they are being cremated some time over the next few days. they were beautiful babies. Alexander looked just like his daddy and Felicia was going to be a very pretty little girl.

The doc thinks we should give ivf another go but right now I have no idea whether I'm ever going to be able to find the emotional strength to try again. I may have to face the fact I'll never have one.

I have everything crossed for all of you, and I'm looking forward to hearing all about all your babies.

MrsStevo · 24/05/2011 17:45

Dachs I just don't know what to say. I'm so, so sad for you (crying as I type) and just wish you and your DH all the love and support in the world to get through this truly devastating time. I hope that you manage to get away on holiday and give yourself some time and space to grieve together.
You will be in my thoughts and I wish you a mountain of luck for the future if you make the decision to try again x x x
