Will this be the final thread?!? I somehow think not, with more and more people starting on maternity leave, we have time for a good few more methinks!

YUK! Notoast - still not going there Shock

Kudos to crazychick for going to such lengths - perhaps a good contender for the pineapple experiment Wink

crazychic141187 · 29/05/2011 12:51

Im allergic to pinapple sasa so thought id take one for the team in the other way lol!

8rubberduckies · 29/05/2011 13:13

Yay GV - so good to hear from you and that all is well - hope you are enjoying your little girl. Looking forward to the birth story, and thanks for yours Merlion, sounds like a wonderful birth Smile

MOSP my fingers are crossed that your cramping has progressed.

I also had a really bad night's sleep - dp went out to watch the football last night and came back wrecked - I made him some toast and a pint of water and went to bed, asking him to sleep on the sofa, but of course he ignored me and came to bed and crashed around and snored all night! About 2am ds came in too and kicked me in the back all night and added to the cacaphony of snoring!

Thornykate I am looking forward to going out tonight but am soooooo bored of all of my clothes, and have a horrible feeling that everything I fancy wearing is going to be in the washing basket anyway. A duckies meltdown is surely on the cards!

milliemuffin · 29/05/2011 13:44

Hi ladies, we said goodbye to our doggy today as she's gone to live with a new family down on the south coast. We decided a while ago to look into getting her rehomed so registered with English Springer Welfare and we finally found her a lovely family who are 5 mins from the beach so we know she'll be happy and as quiet as it is without her we know we're going to have our hands full in a few weeks time so it's best all round. Happy for her but sad aswell. Xx

KaraStarbuckThrace · 29/05/2011 13:47

Quick one from me, phone line is down so no internet, posting on phone very slow.
Congrats GV welcome to theworld miniGV!
Been feeling crampy again, feel heavy pressure low down in my abdomen, but no actual contractions. DH has taken the DSs to his parents, about 1.5 hours away, but don't want to call in case another false alarm! DHwould have to drop DSS off at his mum's on the way as well.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 29/05/2011 13:53

Grrr another reason I hate MNing onmy phone can't scroll in message window so can't do big posts!
I confess that Dh made me a special milkshake when I was overdue with DS! Blush
PP you can request not to have a certain MW attend you. Once I get my internet back, I will PM you a letter youcan use.

PrisonerZero · 29/05/2011 14:09

Congratulations GV!! I too would love to hear your birth story Smile

Just on my way out for Sunday lunch so only a quick post from me whilst DP irons his shirt (I think he is expecting that I will do it for him whilst he is getting out the shower but lifes full of disappointments lol)

No more braxton hicks or anything from me, which isn't a bad thing as I am not at all ready. Eventually finished packing my hospital bag last night at last and spent this morning making the moses basket up and putting clothes away although there is still loads left to sort - we have been given so much stuff, 3 sterilisers and 4 bouncy chairs among other things!

Went to Mothercare yesterday as they have a sale on and bought some nursing bras, bottles just incase, breast shells, a nursing nighty and some PJs - spent far to much (oh and a coming home from hosptial outfit for the baby but have removed the tags and will just find it among all the other clothes we have Grin) I know Mothercare get slagged off alot but the staff couldn't have been nicer and they were really helpful.

Will be back later..... xx

Hi all, we are shattered & so this will be short, but just wanted to report that baby girl is doing very well and we've decided to call her Evie Rose. :)

She had her 5 day check up and has put on weight - now 6 lb 1 oz! I'm really pleased the breastfeeding is going well. (Although we have decided for my sanity to give her 2 FF per day so DP can help bond and I can get some sleep! Nearly had a meltdown after 4 days of no more than 2 hours' sleep at anytime.)

I had a very intense day 3/4 as I'd heard - all those hormones crashing out & making me blub with both happiness but also exhaustion & irritation. I cried at every new lovely photo of Evie, then thought I'd lost my wallet & had a big strop, not like me at all!

Hospital tip: pack a pen for your feeding charts in case you have to stay. I didn't have one & the MVs wouldn't loan any so I'd be stumbling out to reception at 4 am to borrow one. It was the one thing I wished I had, odd as that may sound.

Also the dream genii nursing pillow has been an absolute godsend, it's comfy, props up both of you & she loves to snooze on it after a feed. :)

Also, I've finally started doing my post natal kegels in earnest & they have made a massive difference tommy recovery. I'm much less sore & (sorry if TMI!) it has sorted out any incontinence ishoos. Sounds obvious but I always struggled to remember to do them before birth, and it's even harder IMO postnatally...

My uterus has also nearly fully descended & I have hardly ant baby bump tummy to shift, which the MV attributes to breast feeding. I'm going to stick with it for as long as I can...

Anyhow best of luck to everyone, I hope you all have safe & straightforward labours. x

nomoreheels · 29/05/2011 14:17

PS Sorry about the typos, am doing this on an iPod touch which is difficult!

petitech · 29/05/2011 15:17

Hi all, Congrats GV :) lovely news!
Nothing to report here apart from woke up a lot later today, yeah :) and had overwhelmingly urge to get the last few things off my to do list done - poor DH has cold (aka man flu) and had to clean out frog spawny looking glass bottles for recycling (they've been left out for ages, grim!), then take them to the tip along with our broken kitchen bin, then take me to Argos so we could get new bin and washing up bowl (rock n roll) Have then precariously balanced myself on a chair and attempted to hoover the tops of the cupboards where our cat sleeps (it sounds minging but it's really not as bad I promise :) shame!) and replace their hairy bedding with new blankets we bought them yesterday. Jobs all done, both DH and I bathed and cleaned and now waiting for my brother, SIL and nephew to bring is krispy kreme donuts they picked up, yum.
I think all of the above sounds pretty nesting like and I definitely had a burst of energy to counteract my laziness yesterday but no accompanying other movements. Oh well, all in good time :) x

Lovely name Nomoreheels :)

curiouselle · 29/05/2011 16:53

Wow so much has happened! Congratulations to all new babies it is amazing and also makes me realise (perhaps belatedly) that it's all real!!! I am mostly reading your posts on my phone in the middle of the night, and stupid phone it mostly doesn't want to let me post - but I am still here keeping up with the gossip and sending good wishes to all!
Am pretty much on maternity now and even though it's still the weekend feel pretty bizarre about it - in fact have started to do some planning for my return to work - which I am aware is Mental Confused think I am trying to keep myself grounded or something. Anyone else feel like this???

AlmightyCitrus · 29/05/2011 17:16

Wow, congratulations on the new babies!

I'm enjoying a previously unheard of (and will probably never happen again) weekend of child-free-ness.
The 3 DC's have gone away camping with a group they are involved in, and me and DH have had 2 days of no shouting, arguing or moaning!
Last night we went to the pub! And stayed out till nearly 1am (which never happens as the only babysitter we have is my mum, who likes to be home by 11). It's been rather nice, although the 2 DD's seem to be on the phone every 5 minutes for something!

I think I've done my last supermarket shop for a while. We did some shopping today and I wasn't even half way round before I got a stitch, and I started feeling a bit faint at one point. My back is screaming blue murder at me. I told DH I'd had enough, so it looks like he will be in charge of shopping for a few weeks.
On a plus note, I did find a nice rich iced fruit cake (like Christmas cake) which I've been craving all week, so I'm off for a nice strong cup of tea Brew and a slice of cake!

milliemuffin · 29/05/2011 17:38

18 months ago I was sitting on my birthing ball with DD in my tummy, today I'm sitting here on my ball with DD sitting on my lap! :)

Bumps feeling hard but it's not a BH or contraction, too much roast dinner I think.

NurseSunshine · 29/05/2011 17:57

Hope you're enjoying being child free almightycitrus Grin

Millie No such thing as "too much roast dinner" Grin

I think this will be invaluable...

NurseSunshine · 29/05/2011 18:13

New thread here

sasamaxx · 29/05/2011 18:25

Awww Milliemuffin that's lovely Smile
I just had a bath with DD who enjoyed pouring water all over my bump, and talking to the baby.

Too right nurse - I have a chicken in the oven (as well as a bun Wink) and the house smells fab Grin

Enjoy what's left of your child-free weekend Almightycitrus - Ooohh I love iced rich fruit cake - yum!

Curioselle I try and fail to post on my phone quite a lot, press the wrong button and lose the whole post and things - drives me mad Angry so I often just read too.

Petitech I have been nesting like mad this weekend as well - yesterday was gutting the bedrooms and today was doing loads and loads of washing. Hope it's a sign that things are about to get started Wink

Beautiful name nomoreheels - that's great that your uterus is returning to normal so quickly - bfing is so fab for that. Mind you, you've just reminded me about the dreaded after-pains. You're doing great with the bfing - it really is hard going at the start sometimes, esp when they are feeding absolutely all the time, but then this gets your supply going really well so there is a good reason for it Smile

Jealous of Prisoner's shopping spree Envy

Really wish Kara had not mentioned the 'special milkshake' [sick emoticon]

Crazychick I'll let you off the pineapple experiment as you really have gone the extra mile in the name of research.

8rubberduckies I sympathise about the drunk husband. I had one last night and realised that this was actually not a great idea in case I needed to get to hospital. He went into the bath after me, and actually fell asleep in it - snoring away Shock

OK I'm off to take the yummy chicken out of the oven Grin

curiouselle · 29/05/2011 21:26

Milliemuffin I have the same firm tummy sunday dinner banoffee pie and ice creameffect! People talk about having less space to eat big meals - they clearly are not trying hard enough Wink

Glad I am not the only one that has phone posting trouble sasamaxx

DH heard read over my shoulder as I was giggling about the method of encouraging labour and thinks it's a fabulous idea! Have realised why using my phone rather than computer has its advantages Shock
