Will this be the final thread?!? I somehow think not, with more and more people starting on maternity leave, we have time for a good few more methinks!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
petitech · 28/05/2011 06:45

Been up since 6am, despite trying to convince myself to doze, no go. Not sure why I'm up as I am not in any discomfort, no cramps or anything, just felt the urge to get up. Going to take advantage of having the tv remote to myself and see if I can snuggle up on the sofa and at least veg out. I wonder what Saturday 28th May will bring us all :)

More babies I hope!

Sassamax - you have my sympathies. When I looked back at my birth story with Daniel, the cramping pains started 4 days before I had him!

Petitech - I woke up at 7am, before everyone else (though DS got up 15mins later) did the washing up from last night and put some washing on.

Back pain has stopped but, abdominal pain kicked in again as I was washing up.

BarbieLovesKen · 28/05/2011 09:09

Oooh sasamaxx and kara it does definately sound like something is happening for you both. You have my sympathises though, as kara has said, these niggly pains and stop starting is such a pain in the bum. When are you both due (sorry would look at stats list but on iPhone and much too annoying). Kara you don't seem to have got much sleep lately, you poor thing. Are you ok?

petitech I religiously got up in the middle of the night with both ds and dd, like you not for any particular reason. They say it's natures way of getting you ready for night feeds (I've been lucky enough to escape this symptom this time - I think nature knows full well I'm used to night feeds Wink). Funnily enough I used to wake always at 5.15, and when he was born, that was ds's wake time.

Am wondering what today will bring too, I keep expecting to hear from Thory and the arrival of baby thorny, if not, I'm 100% sure I'll be joining her in the overdue club tomorrow as today is my due date Smile and I doubt there will be any new arrivals here!

petitech · 28/05/2011 09:10

am in process of making cupcakes to kill some time :)

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 28/05/2011 09:15

Jasmine the thought of putting pineapple up my jacksie is bad enough, thanks, with out trying to put a full fish supper up there too! (doubt DH would let me anyway)

Kara yes, sadly am still in fanjo pain. Esp after DS kicked me right in the cyst this morning. It is clearing, sloowly, with anitbiotics. Not looking forward to trying to give birth if it hasn't cleared though. Or having it surgically removed, if I haven't given birth yet. I maybe having an interesting talk with the MW/Dr on Tuesday!

I've statred waking up i the small hours to waves of acid rolling up my throat. Thank goodness I've taken to keeping the gaviscon upstairs so didn't have to go far. DS did tell me a couple of days ago it's his and I'm not allowed any (technically true, it his is prescribed to him). I just smiled and agreed lied through my teeth.

jasmine51 · 28/05/2011 09:17

petitech.....me me me, chuck a cupcake over here....I'll eat the rejects!

Can I be random and irrelevant for a moment? My friend has just had an 8lb 12oz boy after being warned about a low weight baby! Induced on Monday after going 14 days over, finally got her LO on Thursday after what sounded like a really tough time. (Also shows once again how crap sizing scans are) So proud of you love.x

petitech · 28/05/2011 09:29

jasmine 'catch' :) well done to your friend and you're right just goes to show how arbitrary the measurements are. I was told at my last mw appt that it seemed like a "nice-sized" baby, at the time I didn't think to ask but afterwards I was like what does 'nice' mean, big, small, somewhere in the middle! My friend, who is weeny like me at 5ft was told the whole way through her pregnancy that her dates were wrong (her DH is only about 5ft 7 too) and she kept just saying we are both quite small build but they wouldn't have any of it. Lo and behold, healthy small framed baby born on time. Averages don't work really do they!

sasamaxx · 28/05/2011 10:03

Well I finally got back to sleep and managed a couple of hours.
Cramping going on and on - really want it to turn into something as getting really sick of this now.
Sounds like something is happening for you Kara

Barbie I'm due on Friday 3rd June

Petitech I'd love a cupcake - might try out Nurse's banana loaf recipe today to try to take my mind off things.

motherofsnortpigs · 28/05/2011 10:03

Congratulations nmh Yup. The stitching up bit is definitely worse than birth. Can I join the randomly cramping club? I will go mad if I don't produce a baby this weekend :-/

sasamaxx · 28/05/2011 10:29

Not you too MOSP - it is soooooo frustrating

KaraStarbuckThrace · 28/05/2011 11:37

Absolutely diddly squat now. Am 38+4 today so I suppose I shouldn't be too impatient!
When pg wth DS, MW was convinced he would be at least 8lbs, he has 6lb6!!

I have 2 bottles of gaviscon, one for upstairs and one for downstairs!

moomin156 · 28/05/2011 12:47

milliemuffin · 28/05/2011 13:05

Confessions I'm with you on the waking up with acid. We got take-away pizza from pizza hut yesterday and I woke up about 2am, went for my usual 2 hourly wee and as I walked into the bathroom I felt this overwhelming urge to be sick but instead it was just a load of acid. Took about 10mins to settle down again and I soon fell asleep. Woke up with an uncomfortable bump though, felt like a braxton hick but tummy wasn't hard. It's eased off now but I think I'll stear clear of take-away pizza for a while. Typical - just as I'm thinking I'm ok at the moment I burp acid :(

My tummy (bowels to be more specific) still isn't right but it's been like it for over a month so I'm used to it.

I've been leaving messages at the hospital all week for someone to ring me or get a message to my midwife to ring me to tell me what time she is planning on visiting on monday. I eventually got a call this morning from MW saying 'I hear you've been trying to get hold of me', der yes! I said I just wanted to know what time she'd be round am or pm on monday as I've promised to take DS to a VW/Mini show at Knebworth and she didn't even know she was supposed to be visiting me, that's just what the surgery told me but anyway, hopefully she'll be round first thing. It's to go through the forms to book me in for my home birth so what are the chances she forgets the forms!

Anyway, I'm supposed to be getting dressed so we can go out.

Have a good day all xx

Thornykate · 28/05/2011 13:12

Another baby girl Grin congratulations nomoreheels & well done, hope you soon feel rested & recovered x

Glizz Good luck for Wednesday!

Any word from goodvibrations yet? I think there is a fair chance she may have delivered already, if so hope all is well :)

Welcome to the thread Ifancyanewname

8rd that's good that your mum has come to help :) luckily my DP is good around the house though...probably a compensation for his lack of birth partner skills!

Re the sweep; Petitech & BP I had one with DS1 & it felt the same as the other VE's they do throughout labour in fact it was not as bad as them as I wasn't having contractions at the same time. What I'm trying to say is that seeing as most of us will be having regular examinations anyway it helps just to see this as the first of a few. It's not as bad as a smear test for me as it seems like the beginning of getting to see the baby rather than a smear which is just icky & has to be endured. I will be having one at my 41 week appt on Thurs without any qualms & I dont like smears either.

Truly hope that your friends baby can stay strong & pull through Prisoner it sounds horrendous, every parents worst nightmare :( & I hope you get through half term OK. TBH I don't miss the morning rush to do the school run but I agree half term can be tiring especially when the weather is bad & I am trying to keep the house as straight as possible. Biscuits & sofa seem like a good plan Grin

Beautiful photos PP , hope your baby wriggles back to where babies should be asap. Sounds like your MW is using the wrong side of the tape measure.

Kara I have been a bit crap & not arranged anything for the half term to do with the kids, we have got a couple of really good parks nearby & I usually head there with a picnic but no chance in this weather. Mind you I feel so uncomfy I think I would have to take my fit ball with me to sit on...or I could ust style it out with a space hopper like Jasmine that would probably look better in the park! Your backache & abdo pains sound promising though kara , maybe you will be on the delivered list soon!

Ouch confessions you have my sympathes re the cyst, have they dressed it with anything (assuming it is external)? I have no idea whether it is safe during Pg but I used to swear by inadine gauze on anything infected, it's great for boils too sorry but I can't remember which one of us lucky ladies has that ailment; it's like a lottery of painful horrors in here bless us all!

Sasa Sounds like you had the same idea as me last night. DP & I went for a meal while the youngest was at a party & even though I didn't fancy anything spicy I ate salt & pepper chicken wings including every last piece of chilli & then had vegetables in a hot chilli connsomme which had tiny whole dried chillis in it. I too had abdominal discomfort last night & I have no baby to show for my efforts just really bad wind Angry !!

Glad you had a lovely scan Barbie I remember how you were left without a scan back in the early thread days last year so I am glad you got the reassurance of a late scan 'in lieu' of what you missed. I wish I could give you news of baby thorny but I have sort of given up waiting for now & have resigned myself to a v late baby already. DS1 was 2wks late & it was awful waiting, DS2 was 2 days late & that was irritating but I think all the frequent tightenings & cramps stopping this time is a sign of another long haul. I do try & count my blessings especially when we have all seen (& read) the stress that babies coming too early causes but right now I feel like my uterus has actually forgotton what to do or is too clapped out.

Bump strain sounds painful Joanne hope you are resting as much as poss. Speaking of resting & strains I have been meaning to share a little help I use with you ladies in case anyone else is struggling, especially my fellow PGP sufferers. I have been using this grabber as much as possible around the house. I borrowed it from my dad who bought it after a hip replacement & I used it when I had surgery a couple of years ago. I too live in a house where the kids just drop things & walk past them so it has been pretty useful recently as bending down is hard work these days!

Off to clean out another drawer....

petitech · 28/05/2011 13:21

I'm with you all on the acid indigestion. I actually t hought it had improved and that perhaps the baby had dropped a little bit as it does feel softer at teh top of my stomach, however was woken up last night via dreaming of really bad acid indigestion, took a zantac and went back to sleep.Grim. I cant wait for it to go away as I would love to enjoy a good curry!

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 28/05/2011 13:35

Thanks Thorny. Sadly it's an internal cyst (in a gland -right where you don't want an infected gland ever!- I didn't even know exsisted Hmm). I worried pressure of birth could rupture it, but if they lance and drain it, what if my waters break or show appears, all over the Dr??!!!! HmmHmm The drugs better bloody work.

Today the only reason I can think of for getting out of bed is cake. We have no cake so I'm still in bed Grin

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 28/05/2011 13:36

My Hmm faces should have been Confused faces

NurseSunshine · 28/05/2011 15:35

Congratulations on the birth of Isobella Banana. Sorry it was interesting but at least you have your little baby now :)

Congratulations too NoMoreHeels, have you decided on a name yet? Sounds like your birth was pretty intense, glad you sound so happy with baby though :)

Perpetual My MW measured me on thurs (37weeks) and I was 38cm. She said that between 36-40cm is fine for 37 weeks.

Glad you got your scan Barbie. Hope DP doesn't book anymore gigs for a while.

Confsessions sorry about your cyst :( I'd have it sorted before the birth personally, if you're lucky it might start things off Grin

Crossing my fingers that everyone who's having weird cramping either recovers or actually goes into labour soon.

I feel like it's going to be AGES until I see any movement. I'm thinking "3 weeks" in my head but really it could be 5 couldn't it. I really hope not, I just want my baby now!

sasamaxx · 28/05/2011 15:38

Definitely thing GV must be in labour or something.
I'm in total limbo again - cramping disappeared.

NurseSunshine · 28/05/2011 16:11

Any else get swollen feet/ankles all the time? Have just started getting them in the evening or if I've been on my feet for longer than 5 minutes a while but this morning they were swollen when I woke up. No protein in urine/raised BP on thurs so probably fine?

Go GoodVibrations GO!

NoToast · 28/05/2011 16:35

Congratulations to Merlion, Nomoreheels and Banana, on your little girls. Hope you're all recovering well. We're properly in baby season now, logging on is so exciting...

TTL I have something similar to those cover-up thingies, it's a a fleecy slingcover. I bought it at a car boot, the lady had me at the words breastfeeding and concealment.

How's the race going Petitech and Sasamax? We should start taking bets...I'm picturing you bouncing on your birthballs and scoffing curry.

Hello Ifancy -a friend of mine was properly dreading the arrival of her second but said her family dynamic really became much easier with the new addition.

Thorny You're not alone, DP asked me what a contraction was a couple of weeks ago- he's in my remedial teaching class, being drilled in parts of the body/stages of labour/ birth plan etc.

37 weeks on Sunday. I can't seem to get my brain to move on from thoughts about the pregnancy and birth to realise that there will soon be an actual, real, snuggly baby in the house. I mean surely you have to get a grown-ups licence first and everything...

moomin156 · 28/05/2011 17:19

Just updating as im a bit excited by all the news

Florence - born 21st March ( EDD 6th June)
Naomi
Ciara
Seren - born 12 May (EDD 28th May)
and baby nomoreheels - born 24th May (EDD 3rd June)
Isobella - 25th May (EDD 4th June)
Rosina - 26th May ( EDD 7th June)

Can anyone fill in the gaps......baby brain has struck again, sorry

KaraStarbuckThrace · 28/05/2011 17:24

LOL @ needing a licence, NoToast but yes it is very weird trying to equate bump with baby! I remember a friend who had her baby about 4mo before DS, I went to see them when he was just 3weeks old and her pointing at my bump and said "I still can't believe this (meaning baby) came from that (my bump)!" Grin

Confessions ouch, that does not sound good, hopefully GP can sort it as painlessly as possible before baby arrives!

Nurse I had swollen ankles a couple of weeks back but they don't seem to be as bad now.

*Sassamax" - yep I am limbosville as well. I hope you are right about GV Smile

Petitech ooh cup cakes!

Thorny I see you are keeping yourself busy Grin

Just feels like life in on hold can't really make too many plans until baby gets here! I think it is probably worse for you first time mums though!

8rubberduckies · 28/05/2011 17:53

Oooooh the tension is getting palpable on this thread now - its getting very exciting! And we probably have another month or so of it!

This weekend is beginning to feel like a last supper - am trying to do nice things just in case I'm kept in hospital Tuesday. Have been out for a lazy long lunch with some friends today. Had Gammon, egg and chips, a glass of rose, then the most amazing pud - chocolate and honeycomb truffle slice with salted almond icecream. It was truly a taste sensation and almost brought a tear to my eye Grin.

We have got a babysitter tomorrow night and dp is taking me to the new Jamie Olivers that has just opened here. We are as pooor as church mice, but are thinking what the heck, it may be the last time we'll be going anywhere for a while! I plan on a lazy day tomorrow snuggling up with dc1 watching DVDs if it stays rainy - I'm going to miss him so much if I go into hospital!

Hope the crampings have gone for everyone or turned into something more useful. Confessions that cyst sounds awful; I hope it improves before you go into labour.

Big Wave from the sofa to everyone else - Happy Saturday.

milliemuffin · 28/05/2011 18:03

8RD Is it a Jamie's Italian? We went to the one in Cambridge but I preferred his Fifteen in London. Food was still lovely though so I'm sure you'll have a lovely evening, don't forget your Gaviscon xx
