Anybody else out there?????
Very surprised, had only SWI once and I thought we had missed the window of opportunity. It seems not, BFP yesterday, royal wedding treat. EDD about 2nd Jan I think.

#2 for me, keeping fingers tightly crossed as had a bumpy ride before conceiving DS. Very excited and slightly terrified. :)

I did end up telling my trainer but didn't really go that much easier!
Don't think I'm some fitness freak either, I just got fed up of being overweight and having a baby belly that made me look pg!

Strange that a few of us have had cramps/uncertainties today. I spent most of the day knicker checking and worrying. On the way home, I stopped off at the shops and bought a CB digital conception indicator test and went to the loos to test immediately. I reckon I'm only 4+2 (fairly accurate as I was charting) and figured that as I was testing in the afternoon, if it said 4-5 weeks, I'd be happy. It actually said 5+ weeks so that reassured me a lot!

summerfruitsalad - great to get lovely excited reactions to your news!

bustersgirl - sorry for your mcs. I think many of us have been there at some point. Welcome Nanny01 too - nice to see another couple of "larger" families too :)

sho - love codename 002 Grin Good luck with your poker face!

fishandlilacs - welcome to you too. This worry is really getting in the way of enjoying our BFPs isn't it!

Hello everyone else. Hope you're all well.

tigana · 05/05/2011 23:28

blug. Feeling really 'gutsy' this evening (as in bloaty and uncomfortable not fearless!). Changed into jeans after work but they just felt too hard against my tummy...swapped to pj bottoms straight after dinner.

Roll on July...I neeeed to tell people!

002 is such a great codename!!

Am tired..off to bed (why have I stayed up so late?!)

BonzaBlue · 06/05/2011 07:49

Phew - told DH this afternoon - as he came home early which was a nice surprise.... we are not telling anyone for a while so popped out to buy some BIG t-shirts .... I can not pull in my tummy by the evening LOL ... my poor son was devestated over my mmc so we will not tell the children until I have had a scan.

Am planning on going to the drs next Weds - when I am week 6 and see where I go from there ... plus will tell my acupuncturist next Fri too .... all feeling a bit more real but not getting too excited due to our loss in Feb ... so please keep me, bean and my family in your thoughts !!!

fishandlilacs · 06/05/2011 08:01

I have quite severe back ache today, really hot burning back ache. I am not sick today but i do feel a bit sqeamish.

Does anyone else think "I actually really wish I hadn't found out I was preg so soon"
I didn't find out til i was 7 weeks with DD1 and then it doesn't seem so bad but now I have weeks to wait before i can tell everyone and I am rubbish at secrets!

ghosteditor · 06/05/2011 09:43

Hi ladies,

Can I join? I just tested this morning and nearly fell off the loo when I saw a plus sign forming! DH has been away but thankfully is due back later today so I can tell him (bet he'll nearly fall over too!)

We've been trying for four months for DC#1 but DH is away a lot so we've not always been able to try at the right time. In April, we celebrated our first wedding anniversary in NY and it looks like the bean was conceived on our anniversary, which is awesome. My EDD is Jan 15th.

We won't be telling people until we get an ok at the 12 week scan but I might have to tell my pilates instructor (apparently some exercises should be avoided). Am a bit Hmm about this but I guess it's the grown up thing to do.

I'm only on CD 26 but am going on a weekend away with the girls tonight so I was just testing to rule out a BFP, really! Guess I'll have to tell them I'm on a diet so don't want to drink any calories, but not sure that'll wash with them. One of the other girls is about 12 weeks along now too!

-ghost
(far too excited to do any work)
ps congratulations on all the secret bumps!

GiraffeAHolic · 06/05/2011 10:30

Hi to all the new secret bumps :)

I had booking in appointment with midwife, my champneys specimen proved fine Grin

Have to go for glucose tolerance test next wednesday - fasting from night before then 3 blood test each an hour apart with a whole bottle of lucozade after the first one.

Still struggling to get my head around it so bought another cheapie test on the way back nursery this morning and the pregnant line came up before the control line despite it being mid morning :) :)

Was planning on keeping schtum until scan, but my dad isn't well and needs something positive to look forward too and keep fighting for, so we're telling him tomorrow.

ghosteditor · 06/05/2011 11:05

giraffe that sounds like a lovely thing to do for your dad, hope it goes well.

So when should I look to make an appointment with my GP? Does it just need to be in time to organise a 12 week scan?

(eek gosh that makes it all sound more real!)

GiraffeAHolic · 06/05/2011 11:15

Thanks ghosteditor I hope it'll make him smile.

I didn't make a gp appointment, just a booking in appointment with the midwife. I was 5 weeks 3 days yesterday when i saw her. Probably the earlier end of the scale but I needed to do something proactive to make it feel real.

summerfruitsalad · 06/05/2011 12:12

ghosteditor every GPs seem to do it differently. Most surgeries have a Midwife attatched to them, you can either phone for a GP appointment who will do the referring to the midwives and ask you about folic acid or just ask the receptionist what their procedure is. The midwives will want to see you before the 12 week scan for a booking in appointment to take your history and get to to organise blood tests for 12 weeks as well. Also if you have a choice of hospitals (I have 3!) they will need to know your choice. Your GPs website may well have details. Congrats!

summerfruitsalad · 06/05/2011 12:17

giraffe I took anothe test this morning as still don't quite believe it and the pregnancy line came in about 30 seconds, way darker and way before the control line! Hahaha!

fish I know what you mean about finding out so soon, though I have my DS to keep me busy so hoping the pregnancy goes quickly, I am really looking forward to the 12 week scan!

I love Fridays off with my little man, he's still napping the champ! He is crawling and climbing up on everything and manages to find everything that isn't a toy and plays with it!

ghosteditor · 06/05/2011 12:26

summerfruit thanks for the helpful info - all good to know in advance. I guess I'll leave it for a few weeks (there may be the odd secret HPT just to be sure) and then call the GP/midwife. Unfortunately I live and work in a small town and the chances of me making the appt without seeing somebody I know are slim to none. Hopefully just not a work person...

Nanny01 · 06/05/2011 12:42

Hi
I am totally potty walking around with silly secret smile on my face. Secret bumps yes would love to tell the world but just willing myself not to. My last two pregnancies my parent and dh's mother found out through a rather less than discrete friend who blabbed. I am anxious as both our families are not going to be pleased I am glad I have here because I will bust other wise.

Also looking into independent midwife's, is any one here considering one. I am fed up of the doctors and midwives scaring me and dh about my bmi and forcing me to have tests for diabetes after having 4 healthy pregnancys , deliveries ect. Fat is the new smoking issue now would like to enjoy this baby.

Please tell me not to blab.

summerfruitsalad · 06/05/2011 13:11

ghost thats a bummer, no such thing as a secret in a close town! I live in a small-ish town and I seem to see someone I have seen at baby groups either at tesco or the GPs, just as well no relatives are here and I work in London!

nanny sorry to hear your family won't be positive about secret bump. Not read into independent midwives, rekon I would if I had the money! I was sent to see a consultant at 38 weeks cos my blood pressure went really high at 36 weeks and they put me on medication for it. I never felt overly informed and had a couple of overnight stays and was never seen by the same midwife! I do think continuity of care is very important and I think you really get that with IMWs. No blabbing! Grin

Spagbolagain · 06/05/2011 13:22

Hi everyone, hope you are all feeling well. I was up all night with DS whose eczema is really bothering him, he was so upset it was horrible and now we are both v tired. Thankfully Friday is my day off. Summerfruitsalad, your Fridays sound just like mine - mainly toddler-chasing with a brief respite during the lunchtime nap!

Congrats to the latest people, welcome!
Ghosteditor, I bumped into my next door neighbour in the Drs surgery. She all but asked me directly what I was there for, my mind went blank and I mumbled something about a checkup. I think I probably looked highly suspicious though :o

Nanny01 don't blab if you think you don't want to! No I had never thought about an independent MW, but my community one was lovely. Same can't be said for antenatal / postnatal ward ones though, they were vile. It's really bad if they tried to scare you when PG, as now isn't the time to do any radical dieting, so there's not much drastic you could even do apart from eating healthily. Re the diabetes test, I don't know too much about that, but I know how a lot of testing can make PG a difficult time. We had scans every other week after wk 20 with DS as he had a number of problems, and it wasn't a happy time. That said, personally I chose to have the recommended testing as there was a risk of damage to the baby without having it, and would do the same again if I had to. But they shouldn't be making you feel bad or bullied, ultimately all these things are your choice, and I would tell the MW how you feel about it.

Ghosteditor, that's so lovely, an anniversary baby from New York. How fab! Does it mean that you will have to consider Brooklyn as a name? :o

Congrats to all the new secret bumps!

We have been rumbled!!

Dd has picked on our conversations and today has started talking about mummies baby while pointing to her tummy hen to me. This wouldnt neccessarily be an issue but she stays with my parents while im at work. Dp and I decided that we should tell them rather than dd doing it. Although they will be told not to repeat until we tell everyone after the scan. We will tell dp's parents next week after the family party this weekend.

Cramping has really dulled down since yesterday.

giraffe hope your news helps cheer up your dad

Browncoats · 06/05/2011 15:20

Hello and congratulations to new faces!

I'm quite Envy that some of you are getting scanned earlier than me, I'm so impatient!!!! I've got 2 whole weeks to wait before I can get a scan and an appointment - and that's them give me an 'early' checkup! How am I supposed to wait 2 weeks Grin? I think I'll probably do the last test Ihave in my drawer just to put my mind at rest that the first one wasn't a mistake Grin

hazeysun · 06/05/2011 15:36

Hello can i join too?

Congrats to all!

BFP last night and tested again this mornign just be sure! Got 2 bfn a few days ago so pretty surprised.

Dh excited and me too, but tinged with sadness as two people very close to me mc last week before i knew i was pregnant. We could have been pregnant together and devestated for them.So really got to keep it quiet for a bit.

if all goes okay with mine then going to keep it just between me and dh till the 12 weeks scan. very unlike my first when i told pretty much anyone i met straight away! It'll be hard but this one has got to be a highly secret bump for a bit.

edd 10th Jan.

knittiekitty · 06/05/2011 16:14

Hya and congrats to the new 002's (perfect name for secret bumps!).

Poor Spagbol for having a bad night - I hoped you've managed a snooze today to make up for it?

Hazeysun, that's sad timing for you, hopefully when you plan to reveal it will be easier to discuss by then. My best buddy at work went into early menopause a few years ago and won't be able to have kids. She's now battling stuff like thinning hair and early wrinkles, life can be so unfair.

My car-sick feeling has subsided today - can't decide if I'm pleased or not really. It's hard to resist wanting to buy more tests or to stop knicker checking, I'm struggling to relax this afternoon. My ironing-pile would smother DD if it fell over so I really ought to go and apply some quality time to it.

d0gFace · 06/05/2011 16:22

Welcome and congrats to all the newbies!

milkyway07 · 06/05/2011 16:45

Hi everyone - congratulations to you all! Don't want to join you officially just yet, like magaddict, as I've had 4 mc's since Oct 2009, but would like to lurk on this thread to compare symptoms and such if that's okay! My (hopefully) EDD is 10/01/12, and I already have a beautiful 3 year old DD.

Buttertart · 06/05/2011 17:06

Welcome, milkyway07. I've only been through a mc once, but I'm similarly terrified. Fingers crossed we're all here to stay!

fifitrixabelle78 · 06/05/2011 19:15

Hey girls!
Nausea started yesterday - I'd been wondering when / whether I'd get it as then I'd really feel pregnant, rather than just those horrible cramps. So far just have this background nausea that is helped a little by eating (esp crisps!). Hope it doesn't progress to major vomiting.
Trying not to tell too many people till 12/40 but had to let (male) boss know as we're planning a major project. He was fab and is keeping schtum for me and protecting me from others questioning about looking a little green!

bustersgirl · 06/05/2011 20:14

Hi all. I'm only 4 weeks but i'm sooo stupidly tired... i'm really hoping this is a good sign.
