Anybody else out there?????
Very surprised, had only SWI once and I thought we had missed the window of opportunity. It seems not, BFP yesterday, royal wedding treat. EDD about 2nd Jan I think.

#2 for me, keeping fingers tightly crossed as had a bumpy ride before conceiving DS. Very excited and slightly terrified. :)

shonnomanom · 06/05/2011 20:20

Well my folks were really excited when we told them today.

Picture the scene; 'mum, dad we're pregnant!' everyone cheers 'ok, now forget that we ever had this conversation' everyone laughs Smile
We did talk about it at the time and she has never brought it up since. I wonder how long that will last....

Good luck/congrats to all the new 002 ladies.

Im away to munch on Dp's birthday cake while he's on a works night out. I might leave him a wee bit of it Grin

Hello, just joining in (hopefully... probably...)!

Was due AF yesterday so POAS last night, nothing but what I thought was a 'wishful thinking' super faint positive. However, have today been totally starving all day with super giant aching boobs. It was the hunger that made me POAS again after work. I was so hungry my boss was trying to talk to me and I was shovelling tracker bars into my mouth and dribbling the crumbs down my chin. (Today's food intake: three packs of skips, three tracker bars, two sandwiches, one pack of mentos, one yoghurt, eight fishsticks, beef curry and noodles. Healthy. Blush) This time the line is still faint but definitly there. I checked in three different lights :o

No nausea yet, weird poky feelings in lower abdomen, constant knicker checking. EDD of 13th Jan, apparently. I'm feeling rather weird about it - DH is out fishing and I don't feel like I can tell him until at least a week has gone past with no bleeding, or until the line is a bit brighter. Patheticness of line is worrying me too. We've tried for this baby, this is what we want, so why can't I cheer up a bit!!

Gives self reviving slap and goes to eat another yoghurt Blush

summerfruitsalad · 06/05/2011 21:05

Hi there MabliD, congrats! Impressive eating too, hehe! If you have any tests left try POAS first pee in the morning especially as AF due, hcg levels are highest then and just keep increasing. Tender boobies very common too, though mine aren't sore yet!

Hope its a tasty yoghurt, I have a scone and clotted cream and jam for pudding, nom!

Spagbolagain · 07/05/2011 09:23

Morning, morning! Congrats and welcome. MabliD, don't worry about faintness, a line is a line, ours was very faint at first and I really had to squint. That's why I ended upgetting a digital one, stops you questioning your eyesight and your sanity :o

Chest veins are new for me this morning (or it might be just that I haven't looked too closely in the mirror all week). Not booby veins, but broken-looking things on my upper chest, which are just making me look even more blotchy than usual. How very attractive. My PG book says it is a symptom though, so in the absence of anything else very concrete or impressive, I'll take it :)

Ladies- can I canvas opinion please?

DH and I go to in-laws for dinner every few weeks and are going tomorrow. Problem is the starters: there are three options which get recycled on a random basis.

  1. melon
  2. pate
  3. cold prawns and smoked salmon

I need ideas to pull out at the last minute to avoid options 2&3 as I won't know what she's got till we get there.

I really don't want to tell them yet as it's so early and this is what she's been waiting her entire life for - to be a grandmother. My life will change forever when we tell her. All phone numbers might have to change too...just joking. Seriously though, don't think it's fair to get her hopes up this early.

So any ideas ladies?

fishandlilacs · 07/05/2011 09:47

Hi all,

Congrats to the newbies xxx

My boobs are frickin HUGE today. Thankfully they have stopped being quite so sore and are now just enormous. I am fairly blessed in that dept already but WOW! I am sure the weight of them is contributing to the back ache. I am going to have to visit a hot air balloon supplier for my next bra :)

Nausea scale today 2/3 out of 10-10 being under house arrest because you cannot leave the toilet. Bananas are making me feel sick, I had bran flakes and banana for breakfast and the banana is repeating itself.

Suppsed to be going to a BBQ today-I may not bother because of the rain and the fact that all our mates are smokers and drinkers-if the party has moved indoors I will be sitting in a smoke chamber. I also can't handle the oooh are you not having a drink and asking why I am off the fags. But god, man the idea of BBQ food is very appealing right now. "Salivates"

Fifi-I would risk the starters if it were me-but then I am a bit cavalier, it's only 1 meal. Prawns are fine if confident they are cooked well, melon is fine and maybe just have a nibble at the pate and say you are on a diet or something.

good luck all

Mama5isalive · 07/05/2011 11:32

Hi all welcome newbies -
This ride is feeling long for me already i have downloaded some apps for my iphone telling me helpful info about what this lil bean is doing but 10 weeks seems so far right now! am bursting to tell my sis but am trying not to right now! being tired is a big factor also waking up at 4am is driving me insane right now! also woke up to a headache which aint funny! have just forced hot drink and brown toast down but really feel ill, have to get myself together going to view a bigger property today just me, dh and lil man16 months comin the other 4 kids are staying behind doing house chores so they can go out to a party later on! also what is bugging me is my strong sense of smell OMG i feel super powers are kicking in! right im off to get super ready and just sit and wait for dh to come back in!

d0gFace · 07/05/2011 11:51

Morning and congrats!

Got my gp appointment for next week, wanted to get it out of the way.:)

I seem to have gone into a mental knicker checking mode, convinced somethings going wrong. Confused

ShimmeryPixie · 07/05/2011 14:03

Good afternoon all and welcome to all the newbies. I am also in knicker-checking mode, though not as insanely as during the past week. In order to get pregnant, I actually insited on visiting the Cerne Abbas giant on my April holiday - which evidently worked Grin - so I'm now trying to convince myself that the giant will keep everything safe and OK Smile

Today is the start of week 6 for me, and also my birthday. I have so far celebrated with apple juice and a 'nearly-fainting-in-Waitrose' session. Go me!

First appointment for me will be with a midwife on 17 May.

d0gFace · 07/05/2011 14:37

Happy Birthday!

Deesus · 07/05/2011 15:18

POAS on thursday (and another since then just to be sure). Me and DH were going to start trying on our summer holiday in July.......ah well, best laid plans and all that! Smile

Fubble · 07/05/2011 19:57

Evening all- hope you're all keeping well.
POAS last night after work and had a bfp! Can't believe we have been so lucky as to conceive so quickly. Stoppednpill in feb, so April was our first "proper" cycle and we were on holiday during my fertile time. It's come as a bit of a huge shock to me and DH.

This (God willing) will be no 2. We have a 18mth old daughter already and she is just fantastic.

When we found we were pregnant the first time it was the most exciting time and we were def more excited than scared. Think I can categorically say we feel the opposite right now! Terrified!

EDD 12 Jan! Felt a bit crampy last few days (had assumed AF was on it's way) and checking knickers so often!

Loved mumsnet last time around, so I'm still here!

tigana · 07/05/2011 21:10

fifi - as long as your ILs aren't in the habit of feeding you badly cooked fish, i reckon melon or prawns are fine options. It's only because of the risk of dodgily cooked seafood that's it's id'd as a food to avoid. So I'd say nooooo to oysters, but reckon prawns and salmon are pretty safe. I also suspect one portion of pate will be ok. But then, like fishandlilacs, I'm a bit meh about these things!

mabil- hi and welcome. A line is a line. My 1st line was SO super duper crazy faint that I told myself it wasn't there, because, well, it practically wasn't! I poas again maybe 3 days later (the willpower was incredible Grin) and that's when I got enough of a line to believe it wasn't just my imagination!

Happy Birthday ShimmeryPixie - wow you know how to celebrate!! Grin

Spagbolagain · 08/05/2011 10:15

Ridiculously hormonal and overemotional this morning......bought DS a couple of new books yesterday, including The Snail and the Whale. I had never read this one before, started welling up as they went off on their travels, was actually crying when the whale got beached and the snail saved him.

DS looked at me blankly and wandered off. He wasn't moved by the tale. :o

Morning All, and welcome/good luck/congrats newbies!

Happy Birthday Pixie!

Iv been feeling almost normal the last few days. Which ofcourse has made me in to a mad knicker checker! Although I have been really thirsty and had a constant headache. Hopefully it will pass soon.
Well family party went fine, no questions as to why I wasnt drinking. Think the fact that dp wasnt either helped. Although though his excuse was his massive hangover from his birthday night out the day before.

Spagbolagain · 08/05/2011 10:35

shonnomanom have you switched to decaf tea / coffee? Just remembering when I was PG with DS I got horrible headaches in the first few weeks and I think it was caffeine withdrawal. Not this time, cos I never switched back!

And happy birthday Pixie!

Thanks for all suggestions. Will play it by ear and hopefully "wing it".

GiraffeAHolic · 08/05/2011 13:01

Hi all, hope everyones having a good weekend.

Well nausea certainly kicked in yesterday morning :) no actual vomiting though so fingers crossed.

Told my dad and he was really chuffed, his fiancé thinks it will keep him positive.

fishandlilacs · 08/05/2011 15:30

went to a bbq with all our freinds yesterday-and told everyone Hmm. Dh and I just got over excited.

ghosteditor · 08/05/2011 16:45

Hi all, back after a fab weekend with the girls and think I managed to get away with not drinking without anyone noticing. Am now feeling super nauseated though so it's not a good sign, am only at 4 weeks! Just did a clearblue HPT and got a very clear pg 2-3 weeks so it's all very real!

summer and spag you're so right, I'll be lucky to avoid being found out by neighbours or colleagues! I scurried through the supermarket with my head down buying another HPT and some vitamins today but thankfully went unspotted.

And spag I really like the NY connection but not sure about American places as names, I think we'll go more traditional than that!

I've just switched to caffeine free tea but will need at least one cup of real tea to avoid caffeine withdrawal I think!

shonnomanom · 08/05/2011 19:07

Spag I only really have about 4 cups of tea in the day so never ever bothered to change to decaf. I think its more dehydration than anything else, I am incredibly cottonmouth just now no matter how much water I drink.

ghost glad you had a great weekend away. Hope the nausea settles for you.
And you too, giraffe. Glad your news cheered your dad up.
fishandliliacs bet your feeling like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders now everyone knows.

My biggest struggle just now is not planning for the baby. Im terrible for getting an idea then immediatly putting the plan in to action. I trip round Ikea and BabiesRus yesterday did not help in the slightest but did give me something to think about this summer iykwim

tigana · 08/05/2011 19:26

ah...hello nausea, my old friend, I remember you....Envy

Browncoats · 08/05/2011 22:49

shonnomanom yeah I've got cottonmouth too right now. I must drink about 4 litres of water a day (possible exageration, not sure though) and I'm still thirsty all the time. I only have a couple of cups of tea a day as if I have more I start to feel quite ill.

I've been sick twice today so I'm really looking forward to getting a bit further on with this pregnancy so I don't feel so bad!

TandB · 08/05/2011 22:56

I got the first hints of nausea today as well...

SlightlyScrambled · 09/05/2011 07:28

Hi, can I join in too?
I got a faint line on the stick and am going to do another test on Wednesday to make sure. I've no symtoms yet other than sore boobs and had spotting for 5 days which just ended.

I'm breastfeeding my 15 month old dd and had been waiting for my periods to come back so thought the spotting was the start of them. We've been TTC since November and in the absence of periods, i jar tested every month or if I felt pregnant. I had myself convinced in January with so many phantom symptoms and was gutted with the BFN. Now I'm terrified that the faint line was wrong as I'm really letting myself get excited.

EDD is 9-Jan.
