I have a Moby wrap, Occy. Think is very like a Kari-me. Wrap slings take a few minutes to learn the basic crossover and carry but they are soo worth it. Totally comfy, even for people with back issues as it properly spreads the weight unlike those horrible Baby Bjorn things. And totally comfy for baby as they are sitting supported by their thighs and bum unlike the Baby Bjorn things where they just dangle from their crotch. MiniG used to fall straight to sleep in his. And eventually I could walk round the shops with him latched on!

Orchid12 · 11/04/2011 07:44

Waaahhhoooooooo - humongous congratulations to Cinco on the tartlett! I've been thinking about you lots recently and was over the moon to see your news. I hope you've been feeling ok and Mr C has been looking after you.

LGG sorry to hear the silly comments about size are still forthcoming. I am getting mightily sick of the whole 'do you know what sex it is', 'I bet you'd prefer a girl/boy' comments at the moment. It's all anyone ever asks, after the 'when are you due'? question, which I don't mind.

We had some ace news this weekend - my SIL is diffed again too! They tried for a v.v.v.v.v. long time first time round and it was muchos stressful, this time it seems they weren't really trying, just not preventing, and hey presto. I am tres excited for them Smile.

I currently have a Baby Bjorn sling, which I liked a lot for mini O. However, I may be being swayed to getting another sling that I can feed in if you lot all get on with yours. Will get looking and add to my list of things to be buying.

In other news, we got the new wardrobe this weekend and I went up in the loft to get all mini O's clothes down last night. They are currently sat in the spare room and I can't wait to start riffling through them all and hanging up tiny newborn stuff in the wardrobe. I'm such a saddo I know, but I am determined to make the most of this PG and baby as it will be the last we have. My mum phoned me all excited the other day too - she has been soaking and washing all mini O's nappies for me all last week (she offered!). She phoned me to tell me she was pleased as punch with her washing line that was full of perfectly white nappies blowing in the breeze. She sounded so excited but I had to laugh as our priorities are so different! There's no way I would spend a week making nappies pristine, but it's what makes her happy and I think she secretly likes having all the nappies out on the line for the neighbours to see.

Ivegotmrbitey · 11/04/2011 08:16

Hello cinco I think we met briefly in the palais, congratulations! Fab news Smile

orchs your mum's pride in the snowy nappies has made me feel a bit melty, looking forward to another day of mostly saying squeee again!

laurielou · 11/04/2011 08:56

Cinco this is indeed most marvellous news to start the week. CONGRATUMALATIONS! Agree with Scorps we need some gory details pliz........

Rocket Pliz to be giving your fella a good ole ESH fish slap from me - Man the F up indeed Grin. Actually he sounds like he's from exactly the same camp as Mr Loz who just looked at me with a WTF? expression until I'd finished my rant, made an uncomfortable attempt to reassure me, called me a loon, then proceeded to talk about something else entirely Grin. I'm fine now though, it was just a crazy wobble. I'm great, who wouldn't think I was fantabulous Grin

You also sound like you've struck gold with your hippobirthing course. Great news.

We lasted all day at ante natal, despite the lovely weather. We both actually really enjoyed it! The midwife was great - informative without being preachy, she gave everything equal billing, despite saying at the beginning she was going to try & persuad us to have homebirths. She was also just the right side of woo for me, talking about alternative therapies to help with diffment & early labour. I felt reassured that I knew more than I realised. But I left feeling strangly relaxed & confident - yes labour is going to hurt like hell but I can do it. Then Mr Loz & I went out for our "reward" dinner. We had a fab evening, it seems like ages since we dressed up & went out just the 2 of us. We then rolled ourselves home, fat & full.

LGG sorry to hear the bump size comments are still coming thick & fast. What twonk thinks its acceptable to say such things?

Orchid lovely SIL news - don't think I ever tire from hearing of other people's happy news, even when I was in the depths of thermometers & ovulation kits myself.

Meds sorry to hear MiniMeds had 2 more antibiotic days than originally thought. Great that you managed a wander outside & she got to meet Uncle Meds. Hopefully she'll be home vay, vay soon.

Muse I think your baybee brain must be mixed up - KateBob cannot seriously be 2 months old already Shock

Right, better pretend to do some work - midwife appointment this afternoon so early finish.

Is it Pimms time yet?

Casserole · 11/04/2011 09:15

I have this one Ocky:

www.amazon.co.uk/Close-Parent-Ltd-CLBC172-Carrier/dp/B0013NB4H6

Cost me about £40 I think. Have used it loads though. And it's so SOFT. I wish they made adult ones so someone could carry me around in one!

PollyPoo · 11/04/2011 10:08

Just popping in to say a mahoosive congratumalations to Cinco, I'm really chuffed for you!

Meds I'm very glad to hear EA is doing so well, I hope you manage to get her home this week and introduce her to everyone. How exciting. Grin

Oh yes, and Occers congrats of reaching the half way stage, that seems to have gone really fast! Prolly not so for you though. Smile

Scropey you have been quiet, are you feeling ok?

We have been the house of ill this weekend. Boo has had temp of 103 for 4 days, plus full of cold. I came down with it on Friday and TG went away for the weekend. Hmm Still, I managed to get both children to nap at the same time and enjoyed the garden and a good book so it wasn't all bad.

Scorpette · 11/04/2011 10:31

I is here, Poostink! So sorry to hear you and Boo have been poorly Sad Still, getting both gals off to sleep at the same time sounds bloody marvellous.

I had just been feeling smug about how my headaches were really tailing off and so my body decided to hoist me by my own petard and give me a weekend of crippling near-migraines Angry That's why I've not been around. But am feeling better now.

Rocket, v pleased for you that you've bagged some free hippobirfing, yay!

Loz, the closer I get, the more relaxed I feel about laying - the mind starts to see it as real and unavoidable and deals with it. I keep thinking about times in the past when I've had terrible period pains/migraine/gastric probs and have been in severe pain for a whole day and realise that apart from the baybee coming out, giving birth can't be worse than those times (and the pain was non-stop then, as opposed to contractions giving you a break).

Am off to see consultant in a bit. Will be deciding about elcs vs foofy-lay, so am a bit wibbles. Wish me luck!

Meds, great to hear EA has been getting out and about and meeting her adoring public and I hope she's gone from strength to strength this weekend. Give her a snuffle from me :)

And Cinco - how is our latest recruit?

owlbooty · 11/04/2011 10:44

Good luck Scorps :)

Pols hope everyone Chez Pol is on the mend now.

Occers I think I am going to end up with a Babystyle Oyster. They are dinky little things and having had a 'mare getting a big three wheeler into my little car I think it's going to have to be the smallest pram I can find.

Am well up for these sling things though, they sound far less of a faff except then you have to carry the baybee and it might get heavy.

rocketleaf · 11/04/2011 11:44

loz glad you are over your wobble, we all have them, as long as they don't last too long or cause you serious upset then I think they are a necessary part of being a woman diffment. Will apply wet fish to TBs chops as instructed :o

score I'm sorry the migraines have got you again. Good luck with the cons, I hope you come away with a plan you are happy with!

I had a bit of a weird one on Sat night. We ended up popping out to laugh at the state of catch up with some friends who had been to the races. We popped in on one friend who djs in a bar locally and I ended up having a bit of a dance then we walked over to another pub to see the others. Half way across the car park I got quite strong period pains in my lower womble. I tried to stay calm so as not to worry TB over probably nothing but it didn't go away until we got to the pub and I managed to get a seat. Have sort of put it to the back of my mind as didnt want to freak out over nothing (score I know you've been having period type pains quite frequently, so it put my mind at rest a bit.) but did a bit of googling this morning and I THINK they were either strong BHs brought on by the unaccustomed activity or maybe (and I am hoping its this) a reaction to Sprouts head moving down into my pelvis. I've been trying to figure out what position she's in from feeling the hard bits in my tummy and theres defo a large hard area right at the top, thats either her head or her arse. I am really hoping its the latter even tho I know its a bit early to be worrying about it yet. I also think what I thought initially was uncomfortableness from my acid reflux is actually BHs really high up in my belly but I'm not sure. Any thoughts from any of the ESH who have already been through this stage (34 weeks on wed)?

Wonder if EA has finished her ABs yet? And has an ETa for hometime.

LadyGoneGaga · 11/04/2011 12:31

Rocket pliz to not be scared. If the pains stopped when you rested they were probably Braxton Hick's I would think. Braxton Hick's normally make your whole bump feel quite hard and not really painful though - but might have been teamed with a bit of ligament stretchy pain from the jiggling about too. Towards end I found it really hard to work out what was a BH and what was a contraction so I spent a whole day in labour having debates with myself over whether this was ?it? or not. Worth knowing that dehydration can bring on BH's too so try lying down and having a big glass of water - they should stop.

I have a hard bit to the top right of my bump too. I think it could well be a bum as getting a lot of kicks high up on bump too. Think from memory had this when had MiniG too.

Poo for a rubbish headache, Score - hope that consultant goes well and they understand all your concerns.

Not seen those Owlie will have to have a look. Am thinking about buggies again. Both mine have two handles and wondering whether I can push well one haded whilst manhandling a toddler across a busy road. Hmm. But decided can't afford an iCandy right now. Thinking about an M&P Sola. Or might just totally sling it til MicroG big enough for the Maclaren.

owlbooty · 11/04/2011 12:55

The Oyster one is on debenhams extra website, it fits the maxicosi car seat and Britax carseat as well which is handy.

I quite liked the M&P Sola, it's seems pretty compact. My plans for purchasing a second hand pram have rather gone to shit as it transpires that people only sell their prams in decent condition if they are a: the size of a land rover or b: shite. Oh, or c. a bugaboo bee that they want £400 quid for even though it is covered in barfmarks.

I have bored myself to death looking at bloody prams. I am starting to dream about the fecking things and I feel like it is far too early still to buy one. Maybe I will build the little dude a gokart out of my old petrol mower instead. Then I wouldn't need to push him about.

Medee · 11/04/2011 13:14

Afternoon all!

A busy night with EA, and the poonamis appear to be a once-daily (usually when MrM is at home!) occurence, guess this is just her version of "regular". At home while she has her midday meds, but as the doctors rounds hadn't progressed far in about an hour and a half, not convinced they will have administered them yet, especially as she managed to get her canula out last night, so they need to put in a new one! She's a feisty one. We're waiting for rounds to conclude the final decision on the antibiotics - hopefully won't be longer than Tuesday midday for the final dose, then hopefully an escape after a further 24 hours, but we'll have to wait and see.

Exciting BH news, Rocket. And great news about the HB course. While I didn't put the skills I learned from the book to massive use, they definitely helped in early labour.

cincotart · 11/04/2011 13:30

Thanks so much for all your congratulations. It really is quite amazing when you fiiiiiiiiinally see the two lines appearing on the piss stick isn't it?!

The last 3 months - I had completely convinced myself (and Mr C) that the IVF hadn't worked and we had made plans as a back up which we were actually really excited about (living abroad, charity work etc.). So I tested early as I just wanted to confirm my suspicions and get on with life. It was the biggest shock ever to see the second line appearing and we both just hugged and grinned and didn't really know what to say. He went to work and I stared at the stick all day Grin

Then the nervous 4 week wait for the first scan, numerous sticks were pissed on in the run up. All was fine, we cried. Then another 4 weeks wait for the 12 weeks scan last week. All good. In the meantime I have been suffering with nausea, sickness, headaches and exhaustion and being cautiously happy. The boobage definitely getting bigger and I have looked about 4 months gone since before conception Hmm Loving the elasticated maternity jeans that I finally allowed myself to buy last week!

So there we are. Turns out I can get diffed Grin

Thought it would be good to come back into eshland to see how you're all getting on and pick your brains about all this baby malarkey. Am already getting a ton of advice from friends and family about what we need to get/do and my head is swimming.

Soz for complete lack of personals, will get with the programme pronto. But do help yourself to a oat and raisin cookie......

cincotart · 11/04/2011 13:32

x posts Medee. Great news that EA continues to get stronger and that she may be home with you by the middle of this week :)

LadyGoneGaga · 11/04/2011 13:53

Great news, Medee - she sounds like a little fighter anyway and will be home very soon. Smile

Lovely story Cinco - you've had a long journey to get here but really chuffed that you finally did. Feel free to pick away. There are as many opinions about babies as there are babies but always happy to offer any advice as needed. Maternity jeans are sooo comfy if you find a good pair that don't fall down constantly. I may continue wearning mine Grin

Am having to take some H&M preggo linen trousers back. The frigging size 14 maternity ones don't even fit me. I was a size 10 before started all this ttc malarkey. Obviously their pattern is wrong. Oh well, back to the running as soon as I can be sure my insides won't fall out again afterwards.

owlbooty · 11/04/2011 14:09

God yes - maternity jeans and maternity leggings rule, I luff them cincs even though the bloody things fall down.

Meds am v.impressed with cannula removal :) The daily poonami sounds revolting but reassuringly typical baby behaviour, I'm sure she'll treat MrM to the full fireworks when she gets home Grin

rocketleaf · 11/04/2011 15:10

meds great news that EA is going strong, fingers crossed tomorrow IS the last dose and you get to take her home asap afterwards.

Thanks for the reassurance lalagaga but actually I am and was pretty OK about the whole thing, to me its just one more step in the progression towards the birth. I am, like score, just getting more and more excited rather than apprehensive. As I said it freaked TB out more as, of course, to see me wince and clutch my tummy is probably not very reassuring! He was ok once I explained I thought it was BHs but as I wasnt exactly sure it was a bit tricky at first. Looking forward to antenatal now and the hippobirthing too. I still can't believe my luck with that one!

cinco I bet everyone is sooo excited for you!!! Its a relief to be able to tell people after all this time eh?

I have avoided buying maternity jeans so far although have a pair of black denim jeggings (shock!) A couple of my old pairs still fit but i think the pair i had on on sat night might have contributed to the kick off as they are a bit tight under my bump. So I think I am going to retire them and break out the khaki chinos i bought ages ago and havent worn as its been too cold, they are well comfy and perfect for this weather. Failing that its leggings all the way.

London tomorrow, whoot!

Scorpette · 11/04/2011 15:55

Great news about EA, Meds :) She sounds like she's getting restless and wants home, which is a brilliant sign. She needs to give Mr M the full poonami treatment, though Grin Hope she gets her last drucks ASAP and then it's home for Easter, yay!

Sorry to hear you're having the period pain thang, Rocket Sad Do your come and go like actual cramps or just hang about feeling horrible? Mine were and are the latter; MW says it's just a mixture of sensitive womble, The Lad getting his head down (most disconcerting to feel little fists punching my hip bones!) and the odd BH. Yours are probably the same thing, but they're scary and painful, aren't they?

Cinco, lovely to read your details. We dream of the day we'll get that BFP and then feel crappy and fat as soon as we do and it's life's way of bringing us back to earth with a bump (literally) Grin Still, I'd rather feel 100x crappier than I do and have done and have my baybee than the alternative :) PS I looked pg straight away so you're not alone.

Well, I saw a consultant (not my usual one). They want me to keep on truckin' for a natural lay. Say hossie policy is not to do an elcs unless in v extreme cases; for SPD, this means only if it's put you in a wheelchair. Spent the rest of our chat saying stuff that was both reassuring and annoying/worrying: that because of their policy for SPD, all MWs are trained to do things like ventouse/forceps in a slightly different way BUT then showed me how they do this and its movements/positions I'm physically incapable of and then brushed me off when I pointed this out. Said I would be prioritised for epidural/pain relief BUT said I shouldn't have any of that cos you can't judge how hurty the SPD is then and when I pointed out this discrepancy, she fudged the issue again. Kept saying Active Birth positions would help BUT when I told her I already know I can't do any of them and can't even kneel any more she kept saying, well, you can always kneel when you deliver and when I pointed out politely that she wasn't listening to me, insisted that women can often do things in labour that they can't otherwise. I was v Hmm and said so - if I can't kneel when feeling fine and dandy (well, I don't but YKWIM), I can't see how I'm going to magically turn into a contortionist with another human being coming out of me tunnel of love!

Basically, I'm in a grey area and because they can't do much about it, they're going to ignore my worries, which is what the health service always seem to do, in my experience, if you fall outside of the norm; I'm not ill enough by their criteria to require a cs but I'm not really well enough to have a normal, straightforward vaginal delivery. HMMMMPH. I am sorta glad I can have a VB but still annoyed that they won't address genuine concerns and issues because they know they're going to have to basically tell me 'it'll probably be a fucking nightmare' and they don't want to do that.

And I have to keep phoning the physio about my crutches and no-one's in or rings me back, arrrrgh.

Rant over. Angry

CluckyKate · 11/04/2011 16:08

Good news on EA's progress Meds. Your resilience and fortitude is so impressive, I'm not sure I'd have been able to handle it quite so well. Fingers crossed you get to go home very soon and you can say bye-bye to the hospital for good.

Is impossible to keep up with your lot, especially when you insist on posting at weekends too Wink, but just wanted to say hugest congrats to Cinco. Your story was so touching I don't mind admitting that it brought a tear to my eye.

Scorpette · 11/04/2011 16:14

Oooh, physio has just called and they'r going to sort me some crutches on Thursday (going to talk about minimising SPD horror during labour). Crutch my bitch up! Can I get any sexier?!

CurlyCasper · 11/04/2011 16:26

Hello Wimmin of the PESH

Lovely to have the EA updates medee. Fingers crossed for a sooner rather than later decision on her return home. Certainly sounds like she's got spirit!

cinco congrats!

scorps I hope you get some reassurance from your discussions on making labour easier. And don't fret about the crutches - it won't be for long.

Sorry not to catch up more - I am actually here with an ulterior motive (as well as to share the love). Has anyone here has any experience of cervical polyps? Nurse reckons she found some this week. Having already had lletz for CIN2 in 2006, I am freaked out about the possibility of losing more of my cervix! Please to tell me nice things.

FannyPriceless · 11/04/2011 16:38

That's good news score. (About the crutches I mean, not the banging-head-against-wall conversation about delivery method.Hmm) For what it's worth, the physio was my biggest ally in pushing for the elcs. She wanted to write in my notes that she 'strongly recommended' it, but due to hierachy issues with the consultant she wrote something a bit more tactful that basically said the same thing.Grin

I was just going to check whether you got my PM with the offer of my no-longer-needed crutches, but if you're now sorted on that front I'll open the offer to any other PESHes who are having trouble walking. Please message me if you want them. I also have a very nice wheelchair up for grabs - but hope nobody is bad enough to need that.Sad

Scorpette · 11/04/2011 16:40

Caspy, I had the freezy thing (dunno if that's lletz) for cervical erosion and a small polyp last May. Well, actually, it turned out to be just for the erosion, as the polyp had either gone of its own accord or the internals I had to check everything before the treatment went ahead knocked it off. That's how easily removed they are! They're not going to remove any cervix, just get rid of the buggers where they're attached to the cervix. Well, that's my understanding of it. The freezing they have to do for them is very, very minor and light, as they are easily removed (is what I was told). Dunno about how much your first experience hurt, but I just had the mildest of period-like pain for the rest of the day. And had to avoid sexy time for a month only. Didn't affect my period when it came, either. Have you thought about chatting to your GP or the gynae (if you're under the care of one) to put your mind at ease? And would a massive snog off me help at all?

Scorpette · 11/04/2011 16:42

Oooh, Fanny, I haven't seen your PM, durrr. Hope you didn't think I've been ignoring you; that was a lovely offer. Knowing my luck, they'll still not have any crutches for midgets despite offering.

CurlyCasper · 11/04/2011 16:47

Pucker up scorps! Though you might change your mind if you read about all the nasty baby bugs going round FESH...
Thanks for that info - it helps. Everything I have read talks about having them removed just in case they are not benign. She took an extra sample at the smear (guess that was from the polyps) so I am waiting for the results to come back in a week or so. If I don't get an earlly recall for a smear (or more urgent follow up) I've got to go back to the practice nurse so she can have a good rummage look. Of course, I should put it out of my mind until then, but you know how it is.

fanny can we just borrow your chair to wheel the differs round in for funs, and smuggle stolen gin from the palace Grin
