GG ta for sling advice - am all over it already. Musical thing looks brilliant! Hope swelling goes down soon.

Scorpette · 08/04/2011 21:33

CINCO!!! Oh, I am beyond happy for you! I would do the whoop-whoop nekkid dance of joy but you'll have to settle for something that reseembles Jabba The Hutt trying to get comfy Grin

We need details, grisly and gorg - any symptoms, what menkulism, how did you tell Mr Tart the fab news, family reactions, etc. This news has made my bloody week

Sorry to hear about the swelling, GG - I am typing all this v slowly with banana-fingers, if that's any consolation. Love the DJ station!

TYF had been pottering about on his PC in the 2nd bedroom earlier and came in and wanted to hug me very intensely and was v kissy, etc. Turned out he'd been looking up things like 'episiotomy' on Wikipedia! Confused He then ruined the soppiness by humming 'first cut is the deepest' Hmm Grin

MadameBoo · 08/04/2011 22:35

Oh Cinco that is just fabulous. Really mega chuffed for you. :o Here's to a smooth uneventful 28 weeks ahead for you.

Ocarina · 08/04/2011 22:41

Hooray, hooray, hooray, hoooray Cinco, that is most fabulous Grin.

In other news I am now officially 20 weeks so half way - eeeek. How did that happen? Cinco you're right about time doing weird things. To celebrate I'm dragging TH to look at buggies tomorrow, mainly because I don't have a clue about them and if we see them IRL then maybe I'll understand his internet research. (Mode of transport = appropriate boy thing to learn about apparently, whereas cute baby clothes = strange faces pulled).

LadyGoneGaga · 09/04/2011 08:11

Wow, 20 weeks, Occy. Brilliant news. T'is so true though about other peoples pregnancies going faster than your own - sigh.

Bless TYF, Score. All concerned about your foof. For the record I had an episiotomy and it wasn't that bad. I couldn't feel it when they did it as had an epidural by then and they stitched it up very nicely afterwards. Was bit sore for a few days but then I think most newly post-partum ladies sit down a bit funny. Plenty of baths with lavender oil in to help healing. Sex took a while to get back to normal (felt initially very tight and bit painful) but soon sorted itself out. But chances are if you need one you won't care by that point as you will be knackered and wanting t' baybee out ASAP.

Think MrG is blissfully unaware of such things as have not sent him to classes - hmm Hmm.

Truffkin · 09/04/2011 11:12

Cinco brilliant news! So excited for you and second the nosiness interest in all of the deets, fabulous just fabulous

Sorry for swellings and general uncomfiness for more advanced preggos. Another perspective on BBQ weather Hmm

So I think I may have experienced a little placebo effect from the drucks the other night and am really grateful for the reassurance about taking them regularly. Am definitely taking them 3 times a day for the next few weeks and then keeping my fingers crossed it disappears after 12 weeks.

I think I've mentioned before that sleeping is a well practised skill and I've been needing early bed times this week. I managed 12 1/2 hours last night and think that's a bit of a record in the absence of a hangover!

Hope everyone has fun planned for the weekend, pram shopping sounds technical Oche am thinking your idea of making it the boy's job is one to be copied!

Medee · 09/04/2011 12:03

Congratulations Cinco, and much love to the poorly and the feeling low. My episiotomy stitches are still a bit tender but not really anything too bad.

We had a good night, but then this morning confusion set in around her antibiotics and we discovered today that it is in fact a total of 14 days, so another 2 days to go :(. We had big hopes for a weekend sortie.

Still, we got to take her out for a walk yesterday, which meant my brother got to meet her - albeit snuggled up in blankets in a pram- as only GPs and parents are allowed in in the NNU. We might ask if we can head out again today as it is lovely here. We've basically got her in our care 24/7 now in what they call "parentcraft", except for when she's getting her antibiotics. It will all be so much easier back in our own home, and not in a lumpy bed! still, she's been on great form this morning. 2 weeks old today!

Ocarina · 09/04/2011 12:07

Grrr to having longer than you thought on the antibiotics, but yay for Minimeds getting to meet her uncle. Hope you get out in the sunshine, and here's hoping that you never have another 2 weeks that are as dramatic as her first two.

Ariesgirl · 09/04/2011 12:24

Cincs Grin

rocketleaf · 09/04/2011 14:32

Happy 2 week birthday minimeds and yey! For getting out and about and meeting UncleMeds. Sounds like the last few days of antibiotics are just a formality then! Frustrating that she has to stay in longer than anticipated but suppose it best to err on the safe side. You'll all be home soon and can put this behind you. There will be huge celebrations on that day in ESHland!

What made me think bbqing was easier than cooking dinner for 4 people? I have spent all day making food and we haven't even cooked anything yet!!! I think I always forget this fact over the winter. 3 hrs to prep, 30 mins to cook and 5 mins to eat, oh well! Hope it's worth it :o

Muser · 09/04/2011 16:41

Happy 2 weeks EA. Boo to having to stay in longer though. Hope you all Berle out into the sunshine today Medee.

owlbooty · 09/04/2011 16:55

Ooooh cincojamtart fabulous news Grin

Hoorah for minimeds getting out and about - won't be long now before it's home time :)

LadyGoneGaga · 09/04/2011 17:44

Home soon, Meds - all other parenting challenges will now feel like a walk in the park compared to this. Glad she's doing good and making progress.

Have a nice BBQ, Sprocket. We've been at one this afternoon (following a mornings house hunting and cleaning for another viewing on ours) - first BBQ sausage of the season, done! Driving into Birmingham tonight to go for a curry with MrG's old uni mates. (MiniG at his Dad's so we are making the most of no babysitter to find)

Enjoy the rest of this gorgeous weather PESHies Grin

Oh, and pliz to boycott Clinique counter at Boots. Woman insisted on making this face Shock when I said I was due in July and proceeding to tell me I was huge already and would be absolutely enormous by July. I did this face Hmm.

macaroonmum · 09/04/2011 18:23

tarty I remember you from the BESH many moons ago - over the moon for you! Grin Grin

geegee sorry to hear about ginormous hands, feet - and bump ;) I had awful bother with feet in my pregnancy last time and the doc told me to cut out salt and drink loads. Didn't help much really

Meds so please to hear things are getting better and better every day. Hopefully those 2 days will fly by.

Occy Hurrah to the 20-week mark!

I am officially huge and none of my clothes fit and even my maternity stuff seems just right. That worries me just a little.

owlbooty · 09/04/2011 18:29

GGGG cheeky mare! I hope you stuffed several tubes of that yellow moisturiser they have up her nostrils.

Macaroo I am also rapidly expanding suddenly and none of my non-maternity clothes fit now. 23 weeks tomorrow. I went pram shopping today and the shop was very full of massive weeble-shaped women. It reminded me of a game of hungry hippos, is that wrong?

StiffyByng · 09/04/2011 23:32

Meds, what excellent news about EA, and a bit tear-provoking to know she's met her uncle and seen so much of her grandparents. Hopefully by 3 weeks she'll be an old hand at being home.

Cinco I'm a very recent appearance so we've never met, but I'm really thrilled for you.

I've had a pleasant day as I had a proper sports massage yesterday on my leg, and found that a lot of my SPD pain was from my completely solid leg muscle. It's been looser today and life feels a bit better. I even managed to make lunch for friends. We also yesterday got ourselves (myself) sorted and finally ordered a bloody pram and car seat - two week delivery, baby due in three... I am still finding the state of our flat upsetting as I can't do much and really want it to look ready for a baybee, and our lovely drawers/changer are not appearing in a 'lost container' bullshit-sounding delay from the place we bought it back in February.

So sorry, didn't mean to go on. Have had Wine.

rocketleaf · 10/04/2011 10:31

lady I wouldn't worry about the Clinique Lady, I am sure she was an orange horror anyway (remember the fast show sketch?). I will happily boycott them as i think there stuff is a rip off anyway :o I am sure you look gorgeous and just the right size!

styffy wouldn't worry about the changing unit thing or the state of the flat, babay will be happy with an orange crate for going on with as long as you are there to give him/her cuddles and love. Although I know how strongly I have been nesting already so can understand the frustration.

I am feeling a bit fluffy today ladies. I think I might be the luckiest P in ESHland. I was talking to my chiro about hippobirthing last time and she mentioned a client of hers that had done it and was now teaching it. She contacted her for me and it turns out she needs to do one more case study to complete her training so has offered us a one to one course for FREE!! There is no way we could have justified spending the £3-400 on that, I was just thinking I might be able to do a couple of group classes or something. We had a long chat on the phone yesterday and she sounds absolutely lovely and has the added bonus of being a midlander living up here too :o So I think a star must be shining on me at the mo. Now just to get Sprout to do a bit of a head spin as I am sure her noggin is wedged up agains my ribs again today.

Off to chiro then belated mothersday lunch with PILs, hope you are all enjoying the sun ESHes, specially family Meds.

rocketleaf · 10/04/2011 10:32

-there- their :S

macaroonmum · 10/04/2011 12:59

"Hungry hippos" Grin

that's amazing about the free course!

Stiffy it's true that the bairn won't care where it is as long as you are near (but it's a pain because you won't have a minute want to be bothered with flat-sorting when it's here). I am trying to convince T.I.S. to clean out our shed which is full of bikes, furniture, suitcases with random stuff and the baby's pram - right at the back on top of a rickety metal shelving unit. I'd do it myself but it's a bit too much like hard work for me Smile

I went to see a flat today which was potentially spectacular. Huge living room, wooden flooring, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and separate kitchen (potential 3rd bedroom) 3 balconies...but it's way beyond our budget. I think we are going to have to put in a cheeky offer and see... (sorry LGG Blush ) I know it sounds like a fairly normal house for the UK but it's so hard to get living space over here and it seems like a mansion compared to what we are squeezed into at the moment!

Ocarina · 10/04/2011 14:11

GG I shall continue to avoid all scary make-up type counter things in sympathy. I'm not looking forward to having enough of a bump for strangers to comment on (well I am, obviously, in terms of having a growing baby, but not the comments).

Owly how did you get on with pram shopping? TH is now reading every possible online review of every possible pram, because he's got his head round what we might want. At this rate we'll be having a Mamas and Papas one purely because the guy in the shop was helpfulness personified without any hint of hard sell, whereas the people in Mothercare were a waste of time. Had fun trying on sling-type things too, which was fun although I didn't get to try one of the wrappy complicated but cosy looking ones like Muser (I think) has.

Nice one on the hippobirthing Rocket - can you then teach the rest of us? I'm sure it will translate well into instructions via the web....

rocketleaf · 10/04/2011 15:14

Flat sounds lovely even by UK standards, hope you can get some sort of negotiation going I am fully expecting the law of sod will dictate that Sprout will be overdue, breech and delivered by elcs thus rendering all hippobirthing training obsolete :o I will try and pass on anything I learn but mmm not sure how, hidden cameras and a youtube upload maybe?

I have eaten too much again, but it was worth it for the sticky toffee pudding.

rocketleaf · 10/04/2011 15:15

occers I think its the Kari-me that muse has, I have had a go and they are super super comfy. Ebay for 2nd hand one is your best bet.

Muser · 10/04/2011 17:36

I do have a Kari-me. It is the best thing I bought.

Casserole · 10/04/2011 17:55

I am sitting here typing 2 handed for the first time in ages as E is feeding right now in her sling. Chuffed as didn't manage it for months with L. Hurrah for no more hunching over cushions (I know, I know, chiropractor heal thyself and all that).

Definitely get a sling ladies.

Ocarina · 10/04/2011 21:42

So Cass what sort of sling do you have? Another Kari-me fan? I think I need to find one to try on and see if they're as complicated as they look.
