Hello,
Started a new thread ladies, fingers crossed it works xx

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Morning everyone.
Slightly better today, thanks for the advice. Am guzzling water :) Not pushing piles back in though as even touching them to apply the cream hurts like buggery (excuse the pun Wink). Got my physio referral too.

IaonnaD - welcome aboard! I swaddled my ds initially and then switched to grobags, found it much easier as I could lift DS in his grobag when I needed to feed him and put him straightback in his Moses basket/cot and no faffing with covers. Plus I could pop him on top of my duvet if he wouldn't settle in the Moses basket and he wouldn't get cold. But it is whatever works for you. Tesco/Asda sell them quite cheaply - around £10-15 I think.

nomoreheels - awww at the tiny twins, and what pretty names!

Mummy - ring your MW and ask for a physio referral, you shouldn't be suffering needlessly and a physio might be able to help. Let's face it still got a few weeks to go so it may get worse!

Ive really got to stop reading this thread and get on with some uni work!! Its terrible!

Anyhoos Ive got a slightly personal question and for some reason i feel a lot more at ease asking you lot than i do my midwife (i dont really like her that could be why) right here goes..

Me and my partner had some intimate time last night (at last) and afterwards i noticed a brown discharge and its not really stopped today. Im just wondering if anyone knows what it might be and if i really should go and see the doctor about it? Im not in any pain with it but obviously as its not normal i am curious!

jasmine51 · 28/03/2011 15:46

crazy a bit of spotting can happen after sex as the cervix is more sensitive. However that is more likely to be fresh pinkish blood. Brown blood is old blood and it can be a bit of placenta edge breakdown that has been dislodged by the sex, again quite normal. Exactly the same happened to me and I was checked out at the DAU - their first question was whether I had been having 'fun' and once I confirmed that they werent worried. The spotting stopped by the end of the day - bump was fine and no other explanation was given. See what happens and if it stops...and bump is still dancing around then I wouldnt worry too much. However, if you are at all worried do get yourself checked out

crazychic141187 · 28/03/2011 15:49

O yeh she is still dancing around - makes it hard to focus on my uni work! Thanks for settling my worries!

sasamaxx · 28/03/2011 15:52

Phew - glad Jasmine had an answer to that. I've been too busy using pregnancy as an excuse to get out of doing funny business, that I wouldn't have a clue Blush

nomoreheels · 28/03/2011 16:11

OK - put a bump photo on my profile. Grin

Thanks for the Ovaltine tip - I'll try it after the big jar of Horlicks runs out. Don't want to waste it...

sasamaxx · 28/03/2011 17:02

Can't see your profile - did you make it public?

nomoreheels · 28/03/2011 17:14

Ah, I didn't realise it wasn't public... have updated that now. (I haven't used the profile bit much yet!)

jasmine51 · 28/03/2011 17:31

OMG nomore that photo is absolutely gorgeous!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 28/03/2011 17:34

Nomoreheels - that photo is beautiful, am very Envy

Can you have chocolate Olvatine instead, normal Ovaltine is blueggh IMO.

nomoreheels · 28/03/2011 17:35

Thanks! Grin

sasamaxx · 28/03/2011 17:42

Oh that is gorgeous nomoreheels - I'm soooo going to try to replicate that.
Did the photographer have any modelling lamps on at all or was it just a strobe flash from the front?

nomoreheels · 28/03/2011 17:47

We experimented, but if I recall that one was backlit only (from behind a white screen) & a spotlight shone from the side direct on the bump, not too bright (think it was about 3.5) 125 shutter speed & f11.

sasamaxx · 28/03/2011 18:03

Was it a continual spotlight or a strobe?
Thanks for the settings - that's really useful. When you say the spotlight came from the side, do you mean your side, or the camera's side?
Sorry for being so nosy - my low key images never come out as high contrast as that, and I really want to improve them Grin

nomoreheels · 28/03/2011 18:16

No problem! Continual spotlight. It was shot from front on, but I was turned slightly sideways. The spotlight was shone from direct left. Back lights were on a wireless connector hooked up to the camera. We were in a studio belonging to my friend's friend, so were lucky to be able to experiment for free for a few hours. Shot with a canon 5d mark II - but you could still get nice shots with any camera & those settings as long as you were shooting in manual. :)

Milliemuffin · 28/03/2011 18:31

Hi ladies, I tried to see MW today but she was fully booked. I've had lower bump ache for a while and it's been getting more and more uncomfortable. It's actually stopping me from doing chores which is annoying me as the kitchen's a state :( I know it's probably just normal but it's really getting me down and I've no idea how I'm supposed to manage for another 14 weeks? DD is needing carrying less which is great and DS helps when he can but he's only 3 but I just can't imagine how I'm going to cope in may and June? I breezed through my pregnancy with DD so this is all very unexpected. DP's trying to be understanding but it's really getting me down :(

sasamaxx · 28/03/2011 18:32

Great thanks a million - might experiment tonight. Going to try with flash shooting through umbrella to one side and mess about with settings a bit to see if I can get something really high contrast. Of course the problem with self-portraits is that there is no one to focus Wink

CMH1stbaby · 28/03/2011 18:59

love the photo nomoreheels, has inspired me to try and get some pics before my bump becomes obscene!

crazychic141187 · 28/03/2011 19:03

I know that women are meant to nest but i think my partner has got the bug! Last week i came home from uni to find him steam cleaning the lounge carpet and doing a total clear out in there and then now he has decided that the glossing in the kitchen needs re doing and the white wall needs re painting!

nomoreheels · 28/03/2011 19:09

Thanks CMH, good luck with yours.

Crazy, consider yourself lucky - I have had to do pretty much all the DUY & nesting myself! DP is very busy trying to establish himself as freelance & he really needs most days/DVDs to do it - but he also hates diy with a passion. I wish he'd get a little bit more involved but it would cause more stress than it's worth.

Millie, can you not ring midwife triage at your hospital instead? I was told to ring there if I had any pregnancy related problems after 22 wks & was struggling to get appt with GP or midwife.

nomoreheels · 28/03/2011 19:11

Oh bloody hell, stupid iPhone. Eves not DVDs & DIY not DUY.

tinyk · 28/03/2011 21:39

Hi everyone! So have finally bitten the bullet and bought some baby stuff. I'm trying to decide on nursury furniture. So, is a nursing chair worth forking out for? Opinions gladly recieved!

sasamaxx · 28/03/2011 22:17

tinyk I'd love a nursing chair but have absolutely no room for one - they look so comfy and relaxing

HalleLouja · 28/03/2011 22:41

TK Maxx is great for grobags. They do the branded ones at half the price as they might be last seasons or something like that.

CMH1stbaby · 29/03/2011 08:24

morning all. I have my 28 week appointment with the midwife today, and am going armed with a list of questions (have decided I don't care if she thinks I'm a 'heart sink' patient!).

Have been up for ages already because the electrician was supposed to come (we had no power over the weekend, grrrr) but he has just called and cancelled, so could have stayed in bed for another hour (double grrrr!!). Am trying to decide how to use this unexpected time - nap, daytime tv, thesis writing or housework chores....

tinyk we are being given a victorian nursing chair by DH's grandmother, which she is re-covering to match the nursery. Is very cute but don't think it is particularly comfy so will be more to look at / swamped with big cushions! The modern ones are probably much better..

and crazychic, whatever your partner has been having, bottle it and send me some!!!
