Hello,
Started a new thread ladies, fingers crossed it works xx

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
sasamaxx · 25/03/2011 17:28

Will look forward to the sunshine then neenewps - I'm REALLY struggling with tiredness today and ever day. I am clock-watching constantly, waiting until the kidsare in bed so that I can just lounge around or sleep. I'm really struggling with tiredness and boredom - hope the weekend perks me up a bit.

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 25/03/2011 17:48

NoToast I was eating when I read your theory just now. Nearly choked on my celery laughing Grin

Glad to hear I wasn't the only one having a sneaky sleep on the couch this afternoon. I can normally cope with out one, but after a truely shocking nights sleep last night I was actually starting to feel physically sick with fatigue this afternoon.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 25/03/2011 17:57

I am very tired. Picked up DS early from nursery so he could play in our garden now it is finished. Should have had a nap instead!

Got to ring MW on Monday to get the referral for the physio - they didn't have any of the forms when I went today.

BPrincess · 25/03/2011 18:09

So glad to have you guys to moan to/sympathise with.

TIRED! OMG, it's insane how knackered I feel at the moment. And it didn't help having a friend to stay last week whose idea of sympathy was 'Ooh, well, I hope you find some energy when the baby's born, because that's when you'll REALLY feel it', and 'I have a friend at work who is working right up to her due date, and she's just running round, going out with her friends all the time. She's amazing!' Would it have been wrong to chuck her out of the house? And all this after I made her lunch and cleared it all away, as she sat at the kitchen table...

Milliemuffin · 25/03/2011 18:23

DP has made it very clear that he doesn't believe I'm not getting much sleep and he even told my parents at dinner on Sunday that he's the one getting up with DD when she wakes up at 6. My back's been killing me the last 2 weeks and for the last 2 months I've had severely swollen veins down below which make standing and walking so uncomfortable it's getting unbearable. I had to sit in the car just now whilst he paid for shopping in asda then as he came out he just joked did I wanna 'put some peas around my vaginal area' to which I just shrugged. He asked why I take everything so seriously but the simple fact is he has no idea how uncomfortable I am, how much my back hurts, how little sleep I'm getting partly because of his snoring aswell. If I say anything he doesn't wanna hear so I keep quiet and if I appear in pain he says 'what's wrong now?!'. This is my third pregnancy and my loneliest :(

KaraStarbuckThrace · 25/03/2011 18:30

Millie Sad for you, your 'D'P is being very unsupportive.

Maybe we should give him the 10kg rucksack to carry around with him!!

sasamaxx · 25/03/2011 18:31

Oh no milliemuffin how incredibly unsympathetic Sad
My DH is mildly like that - in that he doesn't seem to really believe how tired/uncomfortable I am and expects me to be as energetic as normal (I'm normally very active). At the weekends, we do a relay for getting up with the kids whereby one of us has an extra hour in bed and then we swap around and the other one gets one. Well, since I've been pregnant, I have been hoping that one day he would give me an extra half hour or maybe even forego his lie in to let me have a nice long one but no - after the hour, on the dot he is up in the bedroom to get back into bed for his extra hour.

Yours does sound worse though - I hope he has an epiphany and realises just how much more difficult life is for you at the moment

jasmine51 · 25/03/2011 18:41

Gosh this really is the week for shithead DPs isnt it?
Millie you have every ounce of my sympathy. Thank goodness for MNers who understand eh?

Also seems everyone is getting the tiredness back. Ive been barely able to function today and I dont even have other DC to look after so those of you that do are absolute heroes in my eyes.

Ive just cooked a homemade burger and feel very naughty that I also have some chips...honestly, am in raptures - never tasted anything so good - anyone want one? x

sasamaxx · 25/03/2011 19:01

Me please Jasmine

jasmine51 · 25/03/2011 20:38

sasa on its way over....

motherofsnortpigs · 25/03/2011 21:11

Hmm...if I'd spotted that earlier, I could have convinced jasmine to really bring me a burger. It would have still been warm and everything. I have pasta shells with butter and marmite on and have made a pint of custard to eat while I watch Masterchef in a mo'.

Sorry everyone is having a rubbish week with their other halves. It's DD2 that is driving me insane this week. Today has been particularly hard work - anyone want to come on a virtual gin bender with me?

neenewps we do 'real' nappies here. They are fabulous and I can't recommend them enough. But do get the right kind. Here is a really good place to start. The key thing to think about is how are you going to dry them? I don't have a tumble dryer, so find that nappies that come apart a bit are best and I have to say that my absolute favourite is the terry square. The waterproof outer layers (wraps) have to be good too. Most people I know use Motherease Airflow and they come in lots of pretty patterns or plain. You have to get these in the right size for your baby, but you don't have to buy bigger nappies for them in most cases. Apart from the terry squares with fleece liners (so much softer than paper) I have lots of bumbles which have a built in fleece liner and can be made up extra small for newborns. Nappi nippas are much better than pins (quite hard to draw blood with one!). Second hand nappies aren't as yuk as they sound, but I would be careful buying second hand wraps as they do diminish in their waterproof-ness with age (although you can wash them with Nikwax, like a waterproof coat). Worn wet nappies we just sling in a bucket with a lid and for the soiled nappies I don rubber gloves and give them a bit of a shake and flush over the loo before putting them in a bucket (we don't soak - too much hassle and if DS decides to tip up the bucket...). We also use the washable wipes which I prefer because you can just use water to clean a bottom and the texture of them is really good for getting off poo and you don't care about using 4 for one change because they go in the wash - just be careful you don't accidentally flush them.

I am sure that every other real nappy user will now come and tell you their personal loves and hates in the nappy world.

...and you thought sasa could go on about slings :)

And now for my custard...

8rubberduckies · 25/03/2011 21:29

Just catching up... am too tired to post properly, and don't think dp is really getting it, is there something in the air? Have a lovely chilled Friday night ladies and hope we get some lie-ins. I was hoping to make it to the Anti-cuts demo tomorrow, but don't think I'd be able to cope physically, so will be partaking in an armchair demo Grin.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 25/03/2011 21:43

Motherofsnortpigs - I use cloth as well! I like pocket nappies with microfibre inserts - I don't have a tumble dryer either. I have used bamboo at night time for absorbancy. Though using eco sposies for night time as DS decided he hated his fleece pockets Sad
Have all my nappies ready for the new baby - have bought one pack of eco sposies for the first few days with new baby to get over the meconium phase but then she'll be in cloth, have got a couple of new nappies but mainly using all of DS's!

sasamaxx · 25/03/2011 22:05

lol I'm another clothie.
I love motherease wraps and sandies best of all, although I have dalliances with various pockets as well.

I am really really considering getting some XS sandies this time for the beginning - they are sooooooo cute. Is that too extravegant? I have lots of perfectly good small bambinex which I'm sure will be small enough too.

My free small bumgenius from the bounty book arrived the other day too - it's gorgeous.

Anyway neenewps lots of great advice there from motherofsnortpigs

Tell you what motherofsnortpigs and kara - slings and cloth nappies are similarly addictive hobbies Grin

sasamaxx · 25/03/2011 22:06

sorry for mis-spelling extravagant Blush

motherofsnortpigs · 25/03/2011 22:32

Noooo sasa, it would in no way be extravagant to buy teeny tiny nappies. Someone has given me a bimble and it is like a dolly nappy. I am putting it on as soon as baby has its cord free - just so I can take a cute photo.

I will, however, probably just fold up muslins for a teeny tiny nappy fix. They dry REALLY quickly.

I was beaten by the pint of custard - mmm...cold custard for breakfast anyone?

motherofsnortpigs · 25/03/2011 22:39

kara my nappies are all in regular use, I'll just be upping the number of washes per week :) I think I'll have 2 in nappies (again) for about a year. I think some of our night time boosters are bamboo. At bedtime DD2 has a Sandies stuffed with a terry booster and a bamboo booster - she is the wee wee queen.

I had a very cross moment with eco disposables (about 5 years ago) so if I use a disposable it's usually a well known brand. Shoot me now!

Supersunnyday - ouch! Your poor toe :(

Barbie - I use the Nature Babycare ones, they are brilliant. About the same price as Pampers/Huggies.

Sassamax - still waiting for BabaMe to call me for credit card details (I didn't have a cheque book when I sent off the leaflet), must give them a call!

jasmine51 · 26/03/2011 08:41

super sounds like a metatarsal break to me - best be careful kicking footballs/the dog/DH for a while - they do take a little while to heal I'm afraid.

Mother custard for brekkie...yum, bung some bananas in there...childhood comfort food. I froze some of the remaining burger mix so once the bumps start dropping perhaps its time for a barbe. I have to say that it was the chips that had me in raptures though...just oven ones but we never have chips. Obviously bump ate them, I didnt.
I'm reading all the fabric nappy info - never really considered it before since DHs underpants are toxic enough never mind dirty nappies but maybe just for the funny names the products have?

DH has apologised for being a knob..then tells me that I dont understand that hes having a tough time too because they had a bad dust storm this morning and he has had to endure 2 showers today already...must be so tough for the poor love...

You know this idea that we should all try and sleep on our left sides? Does anyone else find that they feel as wizzy headed sleeping on their left side as on their back and that the right side is better? Am I going to find the pg police in my room if I sleep on my right?

KaraStarbuckThrace · 26/03/2011 09:03

LOL at the pregnancy police. I have to keep swapping sides as my hips ache if I lay too long on one side!!

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 26/03/2011 10:14

Jasmine this morning my DH said something to me which I misheard as burger and all my brain could think at that point was burger and chips - yum! In my defence this was before breakfast.

Thanks for all the info on cloth nappies. I'd didn't get the chance to use them with DS as we kept moving, then by the time we were settled, he was to big to make the investment worth it. Would love to use them this time around, but doubt we'll be able to afford the initial outlay for a while, so sadly am thinking LO will be starting life clogging up the land fills.

As for sleeping on my side I usually fall asleep on my left side as that's the side the lamp is on and I have to read at night. Am missing sleeping on my front though. Mind you I think I'm finding having the bed clogged up with pillows more annoying, still it's better than aching all day long I guess.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 26/03/2011 10:42

TMI Alert

Still getting stomach pains, followed by quite soft poos (not watery like diahorrea thank goodness) and I think I have piles as well! I didn't get piles until I was passed 39 weeks last time!!!

Has anyone got any advice? I've been drinking plenty of water and also lots of fibre - I eat only wholegrain cereals, wholemeal bread, Ryvitas anyway, anything I can do? Been eating oranges and drinking orange juice as well.

Clarkiee · 26/03/2011 10:57

ARGH just lost a big long post Angry

millie booooo to DH

jasmine I sleep on all sides. Always feel a bit guilty when I'm on my right side but then I fall asleep and get over it Grin.

supersunny best reason ever to 'put your feet up' take care x

nomoretoast wow I weigh less than 4 stone- which at 5.8" must make me a size 0 (hmm Hmm why do my size 12 knickers not fit then).

kara sorry to hear about your bad stomach. I'd say plain food (maybe a little less wholegrain- doesn't that make you poo?) and I thought fruit made you poo more if you have too much. I'd stick to water.

Midwife rang yesterday and said Manchester said that the scan results are fine and they don't need to scan me so often so back to one a week- yay Grin feel soooo much happier than I did last week!
She also said that she had half a day off on Friday and half way round the Trafford centre she remembered that she'd not rang me back. So she rang the clinc for over an hour and nobody answered. She is a head midwife and she said that she thinks 'everyone went home because she wasn't in' and 'heads will roll on Monday' eek! Naughty midwives Grin
