Hello,
Started a new thread ladies, fingers crossed it works xx

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
OompaLumpa · 24/03/2011 16:25

Kara no date yet but am due to see consultant and MW coming too the week after next to discuss further. am a bit nervous about agreeing to it but am trying to keep an open mind until after we have our discussions.

Jasmine sounds like you have a great relationship with your consultant which i think is really important. i can't believe we are all at the stage where we are discussing labours - scary! Sounds like you have some generous friends too!!

jimper · 24/03/2011 16:57

Hello!

Am due in June - had a scan and the OGTT today (waiting for the results of that) but although I am 28 weeks, my baby is 30 weeks in size. Does that mean that I am having a MASSIVE baby or that I should revise my due date!?

I would have asked, but am overseas and they don't really speak much English :(

Nice to find this thread though!

sasamaxx · 24/03/2011 17:05

Oompa sorry stuff is getting on top of you now. I'm feeling very useless at the moment - don't know what to do with myself, can't get motivated to plan/do anything - think it's just the tiredness. Feel that I'm just wishing the time away, as it still seems such a long way off.

Cool Jasmine about your date. Please excuse my ignorance, but what are PE markers (what is PE?).

I have 10 weeks to go tomorrow and am desperate to avoid another face to pubis delivery, so my midwife friend told me this morning that from 34 weeks, I have to stop lounging around on my reclining chair and sit bolt upright for the rest of the pregnancy - not appealing at all, but if it needs to be done...

sasamaxx · 24/03/2011 17:07

Welcome to the thread jimper. I have no idea what the OGTT is, nor do I know what it means if you are measuring big for dates - did they give any indication of why they thought it might be?

SavannahRose · 24/03/2011 17:08

Hi Jimper

I am 28 weeks tomorrow and i had a scan Monday and my baby showed at 29 weeks although i was only 27+3 was just told she was a 'good size' and that all babies measure the same around 12 weeks so when they do your dating scan they cant really get your dates wrong?? Well thats what i was told anyway.

Still trying to read through this whole thread new to it! Due 17th June

:)

sasa PE (in my head anyway) is pre eclampsia. My risk score is quite high because of my age and a blood disorder I have (which is far too boring to go into), but the recent doppler trace on the uterine blood supply was also a marker. They have a kind of unofficial mental score they give their patients to assess the risk and I'm ticking quite a few of the boxes. So far all seems ok and my blood pressure is generally quite low as long as DH isnt being an arse(!) but they need to watch me closely....which I appreciate.

Hi Jimper Is OGTT the glucose tolerance test? ie the one I would dread as it might mean giving up chockies for a few hours!

jimper · 24/03/2011 18:05

Thanks savannah, that makes me feel better. Hi jasmine, yes the OGTT is the glucose test - as I am overseas I am treated privately and they do EVERY test - plus a scan every few weeks. Although am looking forward to getting back to the UK to get some answers and good old fashioned NHS treatment!

Sarahmumtobe · 24/03/2011 18:26

Oh my, have not been on for a while, but just seen your news Moomin!!!!!! Congratulations on the birth of Florence Ruby. I am almost in tears reading your post-it makes everything so real. I am so happy for you. Take care of yourselves x

sasamaxx · 24/03/2011 18:27

Ah right - thanks jasmine - no idea why I didn't make the connection. You need to take it easy and don't let people upset you Smile

NurseSunshine · 24/03/2011 18:58

Good to "see" you again Leroy :) Glad everything's OK with you and baby. I hope you're being stubborn and obstreperous quietly assertive about baby names Grin Hmm I think I'd give DP a whack for saying that Angry

Hope you're alright supersunny. So glad baby's OK and you've not sustained any serious injuries. Bet it was scary though :(

Barbie I've saved your fab list as well. Very comprehensive :)

Glad you're OK Kara. And I see you are starting as you mean to go on by being strict with baby, very wise. Otherwise before you know it it'll be dirtying nappies and waking you up in the middle of the night. Can't have that Grin

Oompa sorry you're having a stressful time. Could you go to your boss' boss or HR if you feel he is being unreasonable or treating you unfairly for being ill/pregnant?
I don't think you're the only one who worries about things like that, I certainly do. You will cope and you won't fail at anything. You just need to look after yourself :)

Crazy Until 36 weeks it doesn't matter which way up baby is as they somersault around so much anyway so that's probably why your MW hasn't mentioned anything! Even after 36 weeks baby can change position so even then it wouldn't necessarily be cause for concern.

Jasmine Eeeep!! What date can you expect baby then? I think you're right to put yours and baby's health first, no point taking chances. Is PE pulmonary embolism?

I've just finished another assignment! Wooooo Grin

NurseSunshine · 24/03/2011 19:09

Oh x posted with loads of people!

Of course, pre eclampsia makes much more sense Jasmine!

moregranny · 24/03/2011 19:13

Mummynumber2, that dress is just beautiful :))

moomin156 · 24/03/2011 21:05

Evening everyone. Well this is such an emotional rollercoaster. Florence was ventilated on wednesday morning and since then things very up and down. I am an emotional wreck that cries at everything. Everytime I look at her I am so overwhelmed with love and frustra(ion that I can't make it better. She is stable at the minute and DH has just read her a good night story :-) I hate it when DH jas to go home...... Trying so hard to express and managing a little...8 x a day is required. Its such hard work but I know that every small drop is so important for her to get better. Fingers crossed for a good night.....

sasamaxx · 24/03/2011 21:18

Oh moomin I can't imagine how you are feeling - have some un-mumsnetty hugs. You are doing a fantastic job - hang in there and take care of yourself too xxxx

NurseSunshine · 24/03/2011 21:24

You're doing amazingly well Moomin, Florence is a very lucky little girl to have you :)

Thornykate · 24/03/2011 21:33

moomin FWIW am sending you & your family expecially litttle Florence loads of love & best wishes. Hope you are getting plenty of RL support too, & well done for the expressing it must be very hard as stress isnt great for milk supply so anything is a bonus. take care xxx

Hope everyone else is doing OK too

Clarkiee · 24/03/2011 21:36

I'm not suprised you are feeling emotional anyone would be in your situation moomin.
Glad to hear she is stable at the moment. Sounds like you are doing a great job.
I'm sure in another few weeks time, when you get to take her home, all this will feel like a strange dream.

Take care xxxx

8rubberduckies · 24/03/2011 21:39

Moomin hang on in there, I can't begin to imagine how hard it is for you. It's nowhere near the same, but I know what it's like to be in hospital with your little one and watching your other half go home every night on his own(ds and I were in for a week after he was born because of his Step B). You sound like you're doing a grand job, and I'm thinking of little Florence Smile More un-MN hugs xxx

Welcome new folk and hope all are well this evening. I'm having lots of bump tightenings tonight, made worse by the fact that dp has been out and ds has had me up and down the stairs about 20 times in the last 3 hours.

nomoreheels · 25/03/2011 06:17

Moomin, that's made me cry. I really hope all goes well for little Florence.

I forgot to say I'm getting terrible cramps in my calves at night - so bad they're waking me up & I shout out. I read it could be calcium deficiency so I'll try to get more, but dairy makes me congested. Better than leg cramps though. Anyone else getting this or any tips?

Thornykate · 25/03/2011 07:49

nomoreheels maybe try eating more bananas for the potassium or drinking tonic water for the quinine. If possible put your foot down on a cold floor while you have the cramps.

I had awful cramps with DS2 so you have my sympathy, I recall having pains for days after as if I had pulled a muscle after one cramp attack :(

jasmine51 · 25/03/2011 08:04

moomin thinking of you and little Florence and sending you huge amounts of love and best wishes. I'm feeling stupidly emotional atm so I can do some crying for you if it helps?! xx

nomoreheels · 25/03/2011 08:06

Thank you Thorny, I will try those too. My left calf is so sore now & I have a busy day of walking ahead, ouch!

crumbletastic · 25/03/2011 08:10

Oh moomin I hope Florence gets stronger soon. You're doing so well to be able to express some colustrum and milk for her.

I also hope storm and family are doing well, I'll pop on that thread again in a min to see if there are any updates.

Jasmine I was about to ask if you were on daily aspirin to reduce the risk of PE but I've just read that they only recommend this if you have had PE already, not for first timers. I hope this works for me as obviously don't mind being induced again if there is any possibility of risk to me and the baby but I feel a tiny bit cheated that I missed out on waters breaking and going intio labour spontaneously. I know this is silly as having a baby anyway is exciting but I would love to labour with as little monitoring as possible too.

knackered76 · 25/03/2011 08:27

Moomin Sounds like you're doing a fantastic job. I can't imagine the stress and emotional strain you are under. Remember that crying is good for the soul so don't worry about doing it whenever you want. I hope Florence had a good night and you managed to get some rest. Big fat hugs coming your way and some extra strength for all the expressing your doing x

jasmine51 · 25/03/2011 08:44

crumble I am taking aspirin yes but thats more because of my blood problems. I am also taking high dose folic acid and after birth have got to self inject heparin and up my aspirin for the same reasons. Reading that back it sounds like they are more concerned about clotting at that stage. re feeling cheated...well, dont forget that it could all happen before induction anyway so you might get the natural kick off you want. My induction has only been booked in to ensure I dont go beyond my due date, I am giving DS vibes not to be worried about making an appearance a little earlier if he feels like it! I'm more concerned about the talk of an ECS - if thats on the cards then I could save myself some £ and not go to all the antenatal classes!

DH still being an arse and I've been blubbing most of the night...sounds serious but honestly 99% of that was totally irrational so probably good to just get it out of my system. If anyone apart from moomin has reason for tears let me know, I will happily supply some for you today...oo I can get upset about nomores cramps...off we go...
