Hello,
Started a new thread ladies, fingers crossed it works xx

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
sasamaxx · 19/03/2011 20:16

Clarkiee what a brilliant NCT sale haul Grin
I had a jag in the buttock yesterday - anti-D.
Hate jags - especially in the bottom.

misshoohaa and nursesunshine - I gave the ladygarden a little trim about 3 weeks ago and that will have to do - I can't see it any more, and couldn't face getting it waxed (apparently MUCH more painful in pregnancy). Quite like nurse's idea of rigging up a system of mirrors right enough Wink

cameli · 19/03/2011 20:18

I've not a chance in hell of catching up so I hope everyone is well.

30 weeks today for me & feeling a little nervous as DS was born at 31+2 & I spent Thursday evening being monitored as I had reduced fetal movement. Whilst on the monitor they noticed I was having tightenings every 10 mins but they were painless. I'd had them on Wednesday but assumed they were normal. Anyway they did some tests for pre term labour which were all negative thank god. Had Friday off work to rest & have done nothing today.

Gonna start taking 1 day of annual leave every week until I finish on 21 April, I then have 4 weeks annual leave before my maternity starts on 23 May-I cannot bloody wait :)

I really wish I would get my sweet tooth back-am sooooo jealous of you all eating mini eggs but I have absolutely no inclination to eat anything sweet. I have also had morning sickness return over the last couple of weeks :(

10 week countdown.....

NurseSunshine · 19/03/2011 20:22

Is that Braxton-Hicks cameli? Thanks goodness you're not going into labour just yet, we're not ready!! I wonder who'll be first though. We should start taking bets. Sounds like a good idea to take some time off work, take it nice and easy :)

NurseSunshine · 19/03/2011 20:24

Sasamaxx, You can ask the nurse/midwife to give you the jab in your arm if you'd prefer, I don't think there's any need to give it in the bum unless you are extremely skinny and have absolutely no muscle in your upper arm.

misshoohaa · 19/03/2011 20:26

Ooo mirror system might have to be the answer. Its such a faff to do but i always feel nice & tidy when I'm done. I pondered paying a beautician but not sure whether I could face it!
Is anyone considering not having the baby in their room? I'm thinking of putting bubs straight into the cot and sleeping in with it in the nursery. Our room is so small so the Moses basket would take up the space left, and dh is a really restless sleeper so it would be a vicious circle of the two of them disturbing each other?
The worm is going nuts tonight, love being thumped although always in the same place.... Wonder if it will move round soon.

I'm not on the mini eggs but the pick n mix and me have become good friends. Damn tesco for stocking it right near the checkout!

I went through my baby clothes today & got all blubbery, can't believe I actually get to dress MY baby in a few months!

sasamaxx · 19/03/2011 20:58

Ah didn't know that nursesunshine - will remember that for next time Smile

I think the baby is head-up at the moment as all my kicks are really low down. I wish it would switch to head-down so that I can relax a bit that it's getting into the right position. Is anyone else getting this?

Clarkiee · 19/03/2011 21:05

Hope you aren't spending too much time worrying cameli (much easier said than done). Sounds like a good idea to start taking some time off work.

Hmm don't fancy a whose going to be first competition for another month or so.

Ah sasamaxx a fellow bum injection sufferer. Nurse In a wierd way its not too bad having an injection in your bum because you can't see the needle and I'm not tempted to look at it going in like I am with the arm (and obviously its pretty impossible).

Now I want sweets or mini eggs but I'm sat in my pjs and have no energy to get dressed and pop to the shop!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 19/03/2011 21:09

Nurse - grobags all the way here, I used them with DS. As we have a duvet on our bed, whenever we put him in bed with us we could lay him on top of the duvet and not worry about him getting cold!

Misshoohaa - I would try to keep the baby in your room at first. He/She will be waking up a lot in the night certainly for the first few weeks so it is easier for you if baby is next to you. Plus having baby in the same room as you definitely reduces the risk of cot death. You can get smaller cots or cribs which will last longer than a Moses basket but takes up not much more room.

jasmine51 · 19/03/2011 21:27

Re the child abuse names....on the basis that she's just had the bub, she's unlikely to be in our June group....the LO has 3 first names, the most normal of which is Capurnicus. It also has a triple barelled surname! As DH said - he's either going to end up prime minister or bullied beyond belief! Only in Oxfordhire eh

Nurse I'm intending to use blankets for first few months then grobag when less chance of slipping down in it.

Miss Noooooon not delivering yet! Can't even contemplate one of us starting the ball rolling for weeks.

Still feeling rough - gone to bed now x

sasamaxx · 19/03/2011 21:51

Triple-barrelled surname jasmine?? Shock

Actually Kara I remember I did used to have DS in a grobag on top of the duvet at some point - kind of got out of the habit somewhere along the line...

Milliemuffin · 19/03/2011 23:44

You girls obviously haven't seen Storms thread...

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/1170996-Waters-gone-today-at-27-3-scared-for-my-baby?msgid=24426278#24426278

She gave birth to her boy at 28 weeks on Thursday and so far apart from a possible infection he seems to be doing ok. Fingers crossed xx

LisasCat · 20/03/2011 08:45

Jasmine, aaaaargh for that name. Not least because about 7 years ago, when the ex and I were having talks about children, it was one of his suggestions. His others were: Octavius and Paris (for a boy!!!!!). Fan of the Greek myths much? Anyway, when I bumped into him recently, having heard he'd had a child, I asked what they called it. He said it was Theo. I said "Oh, Theo's nice", to which he replied, "It's actually short for Thelonius." So I repeated, "Oh well, Theo's nice!" Now the jazz fans amongst you will know straight away that he's named his son after Thelonius Monk, but I still pity that child.

Just posted! Wow how scary! Glad she and her ds are doing okay.

NurseSunshine · 20/03/2011 09:12

Three first names and a triple barrelled surname? Shock Poor little thing!

That thread is a bit scary. Really glad her and her baby are doing OK

jasmine51 · 20/03/2011 09:24

Lisa I think you would have to be sure your DS would be going to public school with names like that! If our DS turned out to be a DD her first name would be Greek...but Greek girls names are a little less eccentric than boys anyway. As it is we are intending to give DS English versions of Greek names...hopefully bully proof! Mind you, DH reckons if DS inherits his family ears, his family teeth, my family nose and is ginger (which runs in both our families) then he's going to have to toughen up very quickly anyway!

re delivery at 28 wks - DH has just told me he's not coming home til end of May now...am intending to gaffer tape up fanjo to make sure DS doesnt make an earlier appearance....though if movements over last 24 hours are anything to go by he's planning to make a break for freedom out of my belly button if necessary.

sasamaxx · 20/03/2011 10:00

lol @ Jasmine

Poor Storm - how terrifying. Isn't mumsnet amazing at times like this - so fab all the support from other mums who have been through it themselves Smile

Clarkiee · 20/03/2011 13:45

Oh my god what a scary time for Storm. I hope she posts a positive update very soon.

OP posts:
takethatlady · 20/03/2011 17:48

Goodness storm must be having a hell of a time but thank goodness her LO seems to be doing well and weighing a healthy amount for his age.

Woohoo I just bought a Quinny Zapp Xtra in Rocking Red with a Maxi Cosi Cabriofix (no base - we're going to try and just live with the seatbelts option despite having a 3-door car) and a footmuff with 10% off on the Mothercare website so got it all for £369. We had been wanting to go for the Bugaboo Bee Plus because we need something lightweight and compact but no matter what way you configure it it just comes out so expensive - by the time you've bought all the bits and then bought a car seat on top you're looking at almost double what we've just paid, so I'm very pleased. Can't wait for it to arrive now! Yip yip!

NurseSunshine · 20/03/2011 18:19

Oooh pretty TTL, how exciting when it arrives!! Strange how having all the gubbins makes it feel more "real". If you found it too much of a faff without the base you could always get one later. Bugaboo is lovely but SOO expensive, my friend bought a second hand Chameleon and still paid about £500 for it!

NoToast · 20/03/2011 19:10

Have been trying to read up and post on here but the thread is racing away since I last posted.

I moved up to the Cotswolds three weeks ago to DPs family home and we found out yesterday that the house needs to be sold this year- will be marketed from April. We're crushed at thought of losing house and moving again in the next few weeks Sad. Will have spent whole pregnancy worrying about where to live but I know we're not the only ones on here who are unsettled...

Very envious of everyone with a shiny insulin-making pancreas who can eat chocolate eggs. Please eat a lot for me!

jasmine51 · 20/03/2011 19:39

Notoast where have you moved to? Sorry to hear about the house sale too, where do you think you might move (again) to? Buying or renting?

Still feeling quite rubbish. Went on another geocaching expedition today but really struggled with the walking...and it wasnt even that far. Also decided that too many caches are hidden in places fat ladies cant get to ie low down or in tight spaces...so might have to can the idea now for a few months, bummer, I was enjoying the exercise up to now.

Also experienced someone laughing at our baby name choice today. Now,(apart from dear Capernicus triple barrel surname example) we all know how wrong it is to mock someones choices. Unfortunately this came from the person we were hoping to invite as god-mother so the situation is all a bit awkward. She doesnt have the experience of pg or kids so I'm trying to be generous but its all a bit hurtful. Maybe its karma...sorry Capernicus...I'm sure you'll love your name x

TTL very excited about your purchases, thats a great price. Hope they arrive quickly. I have the cabriofix without the base but I havent tried to fit it with the belts yet. Let me know how you get on

MalkieFraser · 20/03/2011 20:45

Hello, I'm new here:) Due the day before my daughter's third birthday so their 18th and 21st birthday's will be very expensive....my 50th is the following week so I've suggested DH get saving:)

crumbletastic · 20/03/2011 21:11

Welcome Malkie, I had to read your post twice as at first I thought you said you are due just before your 50th birthday this year!

Clarkiee · 20/03/2011 21:27

Ha ha I had to read it twice too I thought you had a 18 year old and a 21 year old already-now that would be an age gap!

I can't believe that a friend laughed at your baby name choice jasmine thats shocking Shock! Even if my friend told me a name that I really didn't like I wouldn't say anything negative I'd probably just say nothing or 'oh thats not very common' etc. Rude woman!

OP posts:
sasamaxx · 20/03/2011 21:36

Oh TTL that pram sounds great - excited for you!

That is shocking Jasmine - very inconsiderate and rude Sad

I bought a newer double mountain buggy at the weekend (still 2nd hand though) - I already have one, but thought I'd upgrade a bit and get one a little less used and sell the old one. Not sure why I bothered as they are built like tanks and will last forever, but couldn't resist and it looks fresher than mine Smile - needs one heck of a clean though so all of the fabrics will be coming off to go into the machine.
