Hello ladies,

Phew, it takes ages to catch up on here after a few days. Hope everyone is well and congratulations to those ladies whose babies have turned!! Yippeee! Sending sympathy hugs to all who aren't feeling great and smiles to those assembling new prams and feeling the excitement of the last weeks.

Is fantastic having mum around, she has been doing everything around the house from washing and ironing to baby wardrobe arranging and hospital bag shopping & packing. I feel very blessed right now as I was really struggling on my own but trying to keep a brave face. Days don't seem so long now and I don't feel as dependant on DH. I am one happy bunny
Get very tired when out but mum seems happy to stop every so often and have drinks and snacks. She's also v.protective over bump and doesn't mind telling people to watch out or move!

Well as mum's DP is making the dinner I'm going to go and lie down and hopefully catch some sleep.

Love to you all x

Oh thats Ok [ sick person emoticon] misery likes company

ChaCha · 20/10/2005 16:03

Hiya BoB - M/W does think that he's head down but not engaged as of yet. All i know is that I get some painful aches in my ribs and this feeling of limb/s getting caught in my side down at bottom of bump. Was so bad in Debenhams today that I had to stand clutching my bump while mum was getting mobile out of bag ready to call the hospital saying 'Told you he'd be here early, we should have finished the bag yesterday like i said!'
Oh and BoB - Am getting a little fed up with lemonade but doing well on the 'off coke' front. What about you? Still cold turkey?

babyonboard · 20/10/2005 16:11

ooh..well that sounds promising chacha..
i can't stand the thought of coke after the vomitting incident..hope it hasn't scared me off for life! hehee
in fact anything fizzy is a no no at the moment with the acid reflux..i'm sticking to juice and water!

babyonboard · 20/10/2005 16:20

and so jealous you have your mum staying..mine is saving her holidays up for when the baby is born, but it'd be nice to have the company and help shopping etc right now..
as you all know dp's mum can't quite fill that role..hehehee

hooray! mw says baby's head is halfway engaged.
mine doesn't seem to measure in fifths....but this will be 2.5/5 - am pleased to see I can still do the equations!!!
so i'm in the running too for next born...although i think enthusia you are having more pre-labour symptoms than I
just back from lunch with boss and resolved some of the issues i mentioned last week. turns out he was just "having a bad week" as he's "pulled something in his back" and "he misses me" and blah and blah...WTF!!!???
small companies. have to go with flow of 'moods' of the owners and it's all a bit 'family-ish'
i feel a little bit bad about having a glass (tbh a glass and a half) of red wine with lunch, anyone else getting a bit slack on that front ....to make me feel better or are you all being good mummies to be?
just 'bumped' into the spiritualist who lives up the road and he said 'that's a boy' which is wierd because i know it's a boy (but even stranger because he doesn't know that i already know) think he should be more considerate to preg mums - he could spoil it for someone!!!
well time for a nap i think. isn't all this 'free time' bliss?
twinkle how are the ribs?
nova how did it feel to take the buggy and the babe for a spin for the first time?

babyonboard · 20/10/2005 17:16

ooohg jenjam..what a coincidence..i've just been to the high street and as i was walking back a random guy came over and said..tell your husband he should be very proud, that is a beautiful boy in there..and i already know it is too!

off to run a bath and treat myself..i got the boots vouchers again! and thought it best to spend some money in addition to the free stuff..teeheee

Enthusia · 20/10/2005 17:25

Twinkle - have you seen an osteopath about the ribs. My friend who is PG with twins had three ribs moved (or something like that) by the babies and she could hardly move. Went to an osteopath and after an initial pain it was just a little sore and then healed. Don't know if this would help with you too.

ChaCha - glad you are feeling so good with your mum around. It was great to get out of the house and see a friend, made the day go faster so know what you mean about that. It is lovely to hear you are happy!!!!

As for me, well still here, as you can tell. Have been having pains on and off all day. They are especially bad when I go for a pee. It is like I am opening up a bit more and get a bad period like pain low down. The rest of the pains are also like this, but not quite as intense. Have kept a record of some of them and they seem to come every 1/2 hour up to every 15mins for about 2 hours max and then go again and I don't feel anything for a few hours. I have no idea whether they are BH, but they are all low down and exactly the same as my period pains used to be. Friend said to ring delivery suite and see what they say if the pains come back tonight, so might do that. Although I do have this horrible feeling that I will go in, lie on a bed to be monitored and nothing will happen and find out I have been making this all up!!!! Paranoid or what

Oh, and when do you recieve your TENs machine, I ordered mine about 3 weeks ago and they say they will arrive 3 weeks before your due date, that is tomorrow for me, so will it arrive tomorrow, or will it be later? Anyone had any experiences of TENs delivery?

Hope you are all well

Byyyeeee

babyonboard · 20/10/2005 17:28

oh, and jenjam, i am again being bad with drinking..i went for a while with nothing, but had a bottle and half of tiger beer last night..
I had to shake it up for a while to make it flat though, as i can't do fiz anymore..but it was so so good!
I was trying to 'save it up' as I am out for lunch tomorrow and fancied a glass of wine..hope i don't just go ahead anyway...
i had ice in it too...but no straw! (teeeehheee chacha)

JenJam · 20/10/2005 17:43

oh BoB thanks for making me feel a bit better re: lunchtime wine....felt quite awful on bus as an elderly lady gave me her seat, and started chatting about "when's the baby due" what are you going to call him etc etc .... and then it dawned on me that my breath might smell of wine! and with my HUGE bump. How awful is that!

interesting that you too had 'boy' revealed to you by stranger...you wasn't in Highbury by chance were you???

Enthusia - re: tens machine; i ordered mine from mothercare, and it arrived exactly 3 weeks and 1 day before due date (they telephone me first to confirm due date)- perhaps you should chase it up if you have less than 3 weeks to go

karmamother · 20/10/2005 19:14

Evening.

Sorry KristinaM, I honestly thought I was going to be the last breech on here. Got everything crossed for you.

Twinkle1, I have absolutely no idea how the hell I managed 14. Even my MW couldn't believe it. Don't think its ever been 14 in my life before. Just started taking iron (after blood was taken) but as its making me constipated & I obviously don't need it, I shall leave it out. I might start taking it again when I'm Bfing.

Enthusia, I used TENS last time & to be honest, I'm not sure how effective it was. Probably due to the fact it wasn't an obstetric TENS & only had 2 pads. Ex hubby is a physio & got it from work to save money but it only did half the job! The trick is to keep turning up the current as you get used to the sensation, for it to be effective. It does feel a bit irritating TBH but it did help take my mind off the pains. I was considering hiring one but I'm likely to be induced at 38 weeks & I don't think it'll be much good up against syntocinon.

ChaCha, glad to hear you're feeling better & that your Mum is a big help. Seems to be a mixed bag of Mums & MILs on here. A supportive Mum is worth her weight in gold.

Been practising putting up & collapsing my pram...nearly prolapsed a disc in the process. Need to be able to do it like a pro by the time bubs is born. Nothing looks as bad as struggling with a pram in public. Hope Nova has it sorted!

tessasmum · 20/10/2005 19:27

JenJam and Bob - wouldn't feel bad about a drink here and there, I haven't been good at all this time, either with the occasional drink or the soft cheese, particularly goats cheese which I love

JenJam · 20/10/2005 19:34

karma what pram did you get? we've been having second thoughts about our pramette....now we've got it home it seems quite large - i wasn't able to fold it up with one hand and those damn bugaboos, which i have resisted thus far, have been winking at me in the street - although my head says we don't need or want one!

KristinaM · 20/10/2005 19:47

Oh yes, lets have a pram discussion. Take my mind off my moans.BAM - was it you who was getting the Cosatto Duet Lite? Jenjam - please post a link so we can all admire.......

Busyalexsmummy · 20/10/2005 19:48

ewwww jenjam, dont do it!! bugaboos are ugly!

KristinaM · 20/10/2005 19:49

...or say how ugly it is........

Busyalexsmummy · 20/10/2005 19:50

kristina-ya, tis me getting the cossatto duet lite, although it seems it may not arrive now till end nov/dec as its still not in the country so probably isnt going to be here before baby nevermind

KristinaM · 20/10/2005 19:54

yup thats what I hear too. i am on the waiting list for one - how pathetic is that - a waiting list for a buggy???? Have you seen it in RL? ( sorry boring for all the rest of you who dont need doubles)

i saw a mum with a marco sky L last week and it was only the same size ( width and length) as my single. Think its heavy though. But good value at about £130....may go for this if Cosatto doesnt coem on time

babyonboard · 20/10/2005 19:57

i'm feeling worried about my pram now..
i ordered it online from germany purely on aesthetics...hope it isn't monstrous to handle when it comes...
we don't have a car though so it fitting the boot is not a concern at least...

Busyalexsmummy · 20/10/2005 19:58

No havent seen it in real life yet, wasnt aware that its even in the country yet, as were supposed to be among the first to have it!

I was thinking of the same thing if it doesnt arrive on time, but have already ordered and theyve taken card details and I cant get out of it now, so will just have to sit tight and wait...
if its not here by the time baby is I'll just have to carry baby in sling and ds in buggy till it does arrive!

Busyalexsmummy · 20/10/2005 20:00

BoB which one are you getting is it you getting the lola(or whatever its called!)?

babyonboard · 20/10/2005 20:01

no its a hauck vega...

babyonboard · 20/10/2005 20:01

but since ordering i have heard hauck aren't too good..it looks nice and sturdy..but hmmm
