BabCNesbitt · 23/02/2011 20:30

Evening... can I belated join the bus? Usually a lurker, but got my BFP on Sunday - no other symptoms as yet, apart from the most unbelievable raging hunger - worse than when I quit smoking. That could just be an excuse for being a greedy bint, though. Anyway, hello! Smile

tummytickler · 23/02/2011 20:34

onions I wish dh would cook for me - so far when he has been in charge of supper we have had curry and a chicken kebab! He is out tonight so I am having fish fingers! He is a very good cook, but only when it takes his fancy.

Welcome bab - when are you due? I think the eating keeps the nausea at bay . . . . especially those cakes - they are really good fro morning sickness Grin

AuroraLeigh · 23/02/2011 20:38

Hello all, have been lurking...due 7th October, feeling ambivalent due to too much else to think about (work stuff) and also previous miscarriage. Anyway. In response to earlier discussions: I had an early scan (at 6 1/2 weeks) as my GP had some concerns (all is well though) and I saw the heartbeat - like a tiny pixel flashing. Made me realise there really is something going on (other than ballooning breasts and the constant need to either eat or pee). Anyone else found that food never tasted so good? Although I am quite specific about what I will eat...

BabCNesbitt · 23/02/2011 20:40

Hello tummytickler - due on the 26th, which seems to be a pretty popular date, from the stats thread! No cake tonight, though - just shovelled down a big plate of pasta and cabbage (nicer than it sounds. Honest.) It's too early to be having weird cravings, right?

hotnspicyonions · 23/02/2011 21:09

Never too early to have weird cravings. My SIL ate chalk through pretty much all of one of her pregnancies (she has 4DC, they have since had Virgin installed Wink)
tummy it's a very rare occassion in our household too. I think DP is slightly intimidated by my cooking, even though he says it's because he works and I don't. Was v good apart from last mouthful which had bone in the bacon, made me feel sick! And still hungry now. And I know there is a large bag of cheese doritoes lurking in the back room......

Welcome Bab....same due date!!! Grin

I am so glad I am not the only one that is so hungry...seriously I had a massive plate of spag bol (which was yummy and made by me!)at about 7pm and I am starving! I have been waking up in the middle of the night every night for about the past week starving! I have no morning sickness...just cant stop eating! Aarrghh!! Shock

KnitterNotTwitter · 23/02/2011 21:47

Special waves to love and onions from the other thread :)

RE: heartbeats I think that the 16 week thing is when you can listen for it with the doppler machine. When I had my scan on Tues to check my bean wasn't ectopic they estimated me at 5+4 and we could see a tiny flickering heartbeat - very exciting :)

Welcome new people too

Also someone asked when you show with your 2nd.... I guess, as with everything, it depends on you but I think the general rule of thumb is 'earlier'! Does that help :) With DS I started wearing maternity clothes at about 13 or 14 weeks. With the MMC I was in my lovely comfy maternity jeans at 9 weeks (not knowing that it was already struggling :( )

oooh one thing about hungry ladies I remember from when pg with DS that I was actually really thirsty but it came into my brain as hungry - try drinking a big glass of water - a pint if you can - and then see how you are...

KnitterNotTwitter · 23/02/2011 21:49

Aurora I've had the reverse to you and for the past few weeks my food has been really bland tasting - DH has noticed that I'm adding salt to my meals when I don't normally...

OP posts:
KnitterNotTwitter · 23/02/2011 21:52

gimme it'll be easier when you've told everyone - then you can just say that you're farting for two Grin

katiepie2 yes the pains did go away after the first few weeks, then I felt fine for a while, then I got a whole new set of aches and pains :o

All this talk of food is making me feel ill... I'm the opposite of you Aurora I'm hungry a lot but nothing seems that appetising. I've been getting dizzy and feeling queasy all day. I knew food would help but I really struggled to eat. It must have taken me 45 minutes to eat my lunch and I left half my tea. I have just had a very tasty milkshakes though. :)

Went to fat club and they say I allowed more of the calcium healthy extras. Annoyingly though it looks like I'll still have to pay if I keep going. I'm less than 1/2 a stone from my target weight (I was expecting to get there a couple of weeks ago but strangely kept gaining weight Hmm :o ) Apparently most people who go when they're pregnant are happy to maintain, but if I do that I'll be way underweight by November. I can't afford to keep paying for the sake of it either. That's what made me stick to the diet... I could afford either treats, or fat club. So I think I'll have to pack it in and just try to be good at home.

Sorry for the rant, weight issues are probably the last thing on everyone else's minds but after all the months of dieting I don't want to have to start all over again in a few months time.

KnitterNotTwitter · 23/02/2011 22:18

bilblio are you doing Slimming World? That is what I'm doing. I was surprised when my consultant told me that I can carry on doing it while pg... I put on 3 1/2 lb last week and then maintained this week. I'm fine with that - going to try and maintain while pg I think.

OP posts:
bilblio · 23/02/2011 23:00

Yep I'm doing SW too. My consultant is quite new, she just knows I can have one healthy A extra and that I need permission from the midwife to continue.
Well done on the loss and maintain, I've put that much on this past fortnight. Hmm

And I keep meaning to say, I'm a crafty person too. I keep seeing these knitting names. :)
I've made a start on a crochet blanket. DD never got anything made for her because it didn't feel right, but I'm always making blankets and DD loves them too.

bilblio · 23/02/2011 23:05

Just realised I missed a few messages. I'm constantly thirsty too, which isn't like me. I normally have a coffee in the morning, a pint of vimto at tea time then maybe something before bed.
I've at least doubled that and still feel thirsty. But I know I don't drink enough normally so at least my body is letting me know I need more now.

I'm also really windy. It's a good job I'm sat on my own most of the day at work. I'm burping loads too which makes me feel queasy too... but everything makes me feel queasy.

Liabella · 23/02/2011 23:55

We saw the doctor today and he put our due date back to 21st October. Just waiting to hear from the MW now. Still not particularly 'feeling' pregnant...

cupofteaplease · 24/02/2011 05:10

Morning!
As you can see, it's a little early and I've already been up for an hour, I'm finding it very hard to stay asleep this pregnancy.

I think I'm secretly excited/anxious as we are moving house this weekend!

LittlePebble · 24/02/2011 07:26

Morning! I have to say since finding MN it's made such a difference to my millions of worries. Seeing everyone else is (delete as appropriate) sick/ nauseous/ exhausted/ irrational/ having cramps/ experiencing mega mood swings has reassured this newbie that I don't have anything wrong with me I am just Grin PG!
Thanks everyone I do like this bus (settles down on seat and pulls out a magazine).

MrsHende · 24/02/2011 07:34

Morning!

Liabella I'm so glad that you are saying that you don't feel pregnant...me neither! Reading about all these symptoms the rest of your are having is making me worry but also feel grateful - nausea and wind can stay away as long as they like! Wink

A good friend who had her first DS last year said she didn't have any symptoms at all until she was 7 weeks so I'm holding onto that too.

cc1983 · 24/02/2011 07:41

morning! Hello new thread waves
Just a quick question; does anyone else keep pulling the same muscle in their stomach at night? I'm thinking my right side pain (which i was convinced was ectopic but mw said unlikely due to low pain no blood etc) is actually due to the fact that every night when i roll over i wake myself up having strained my tummy. I'm thinking of restraining myself at night to stop movement! :)

mumtobee · 24/02/2011 08:10

Hi Everyone - nausea is starting to kick in today - oh no!! (I'll be 6 weeks tomorrow - due 21/10) - Can't wait to tell my family at the weekend. Every day is dragging though, the scan can't come soon enough....

Penelope1980 · 24/02/2011 08:21

Hello everyone! Haven't been around much recently as have been distracted with obsessively watching the news about the Chch earthquake (am a NZer). On the pregnancy front though things are going well. I had a scan at 8 weeks and found out I was 6+6, that was over a week ago so am 8 wks now and feel like I have been 8 wks forever! Am looking forward to 12 weeks, keep telling myself am 2/3 of the way there ...

mpops · 24/02/2011 08:22

Morning all. I need some urgent reassurance or advice: woke up this morning and no sore boobs. That's about my only major pg symptom (I'm 9 weeks) so I'm in a complete panic. Sad

Is it worth contacting the mw over this? My booking appt isn't until 7th March...
