You disgust me, 'Chid - How DARE you presume that creating human life is more important than your work?! Excellent news on the 24 weeks - although your baby's viability is clearly just one more way in which to be cruel to your workmates Wink

I am 31 wks today, woohoo!

I agree that Medee is going to be our 'Oh, was that a baby?' easy-layer (and bloody well hope so ) :)
I'm going for late Thurs/early Fri. Or Sunday

I'm going to guess pink for you too, Bitey - although baybee could just be a coy boy. Isn't it just the most amazing thing in the world seeing your child wriggle about and then hearing the hb?

Lovely to see you back in here, Truffles - but are you sure you can MN in your condition Wink

I went to a Health In Pregnancy workshop at the hossie y'day. Someone on my NCT course was there too, which was nice (and found out she works at my old school - Me: 'Is it still a shithole?' Her: 'Erm... well... ' Me: 'I'll take that as a yes'). Was comprised of either teeny-tiny woman talking about feeling full of incredible energy and asking if they can get back to their triathlon training 2 wks after birth and or sweaty, breathless walruses unable to get comfy in their chairs and clutching various painful areas of their body (no prizes for guessing which group I was in!).

Amazingly, hardly anyone had heard of pelvic floor exercises Confused and those who had weren't doing them. I, meanwhile, have been doing them since I was @14 when our art teacher took the girls aside and told us to start doing them asap! One woman having twins huffed about it, saying it sounded like 'mumbo jumbo'! I wonder what her opinion will be if she delivers them vaginally, heh heh!

Found out some v good tips and also discovered that I am giving myself pgp/spd through being hypermobile (have double-jointed pelvis) - because I can wrap my legs into all sorts of mental positions, I am overstretching the front of my pubis muscles or whatever it is, which is why I can still do all the legs akimbo yoga positions but find walking really painful and difficult and just mince about like a fat John Inman. Was also told that my upper stomach muscles have separated slightly, which is why the bottom of my bump/tum feels really tight and painful, as there's not enough support from the upper muscles. Still, it's better for the upper ones to be weak than the bottom ones. The physio is ringing me this avo to sort out an appointment to sort these small issues out.

One tall thin woman had a bump so small she just looked like she had a pot belly - thought she was going to say she was only @14 wks gone but she was the most pg at 34 weeks! Shock Posh Spice syndrome or wot?!

Sorry I write too much Blush

Medee · 16/03/2011 12:05

Happy 31 weeks today, Scorps. Just the 5 to go then ;)

Thanks for all the bets - I most enjoy PonyExpress's; other than that I plan to walk round the hospital (7 mins door to door when I was 37 weeks) that sounds lovely. But Booty, it will need to be a full Scottish breakfast - requires the addition of potato scone and black pudding, yum!

MrM does love the girl in the OBEM credits who says "ey, I've just had a baybee!", so I think that he's hoping I have an experience like that.

Does your Scotch (TEE-HEE!) brekkie include a square sausage, Meds? Wink

Scorpette · 16/03/2011 12:25

PS I am ignoring your 5 weeks comment

LadyGoneGaga · 16/03/2011 12:32

Is your bag packed, Score?

Don't forget the sieve.

Had my estate agent round this morning to take pics. Hopefully someone will take the money pit lovely place off my hands soon. Is it very bad to have a crush on an estate agent? Blush He is vey, vey good looking. If only I didn't have a massive bump I would be flirting big stylee.

My bill has arrived for getting hold of my labour notes from last time - they want £50 off me!! Shock

Truffkin · 16/03/2011 12:36

Morning PESHies! Medee am hoping your baybee arrives in a cloud of loveliness after a small sneeze (this is how mine will arrive Hmm yes?)

QQ - did anyone have an early scan at all? I think I recall LadyG doing so. TGB would like to tell his parentals and bro next weekend (25th) when we go back up for a family wedding. I'm a bit Confused like this about it as I thought we would wait for the 12 week scan before spilling. I realise it's a long time to wait when it's such close family (I wouldn't tell mine and am ok with his side knowing when mine don't, especially as I have 8 siblings and would be scared that the circle of trust was just too wide!) so that long ramble was a prelude to saying, I'd like to get an early scan done before telling anyone at all to put my mind a little more at rest.

Do I sound like a nutcase? (and apologies, as that clearly wasn't quick at all)

Medee · 16/03/2011 12:40

How early is early, Truffs?

Usually just links in our house, Scorps, though squerr slice also welcome.

OP posts:
LadyGoneGaga · 16/03/2011 12:41

I had one at 8 weeks. Was a private one, cost me £60 I think. Totally worth it for the reassurance for me but of course doesn't guarantee you are "safe" yet although I believe if you see a HB at 8 weeks the chances of miscarrying drop a lot. I told my family after it as it was Christmas and we were all together face to face and they are also people I would tell if I was to miscarry so saw no reason not to tell them.

And you don't sound like a nutcase at all.

LadyGoneGaga · 16/03/2011 12:43

How many weeks would you be, Truff? Before about 7 weeks you may not see a heartbeat yet so would err on the side of not having scan so early as will make you fret if you don't see a heartbeat. But if over 7 weeks then go for it!

Ivegotmrbitey · 16/03/2011 12:48

truff my MW sent me for an early scan with non-existent abdo pains, because I was clearly too munkul to be booked in until I had seen the baybee. So we trooped off to the EPU and had it there. It was fab, although there were a few Hmm faces as MW is legendary for doing this.

gaga he sounds hot! pliz to draw a picture? Why do they want £50? Is this data protection admin shiz? Any chance your midwife can have a little look-see?

I hvae just seen the shorts on rainbow babies and am now in need of a hard slap with a haddock. Thanks in advance!

LadyGoneGaga · 16/03/2011 12:53

Very tall, dark, handsome with double cuffs and an immaculate suit and shoes.

I think the £50 is admin. To be fair they have sent EVERYTHING, reams worth. I thought would be maybe 10 sheets but is actually about 100 - all maternity notes, homebirth notes, anaethetists notes, paediatricians notes, hosp midwife notes, delivering Doctor notes, consent forms, letters to GP, discharge notes etc. Yada, yada. Just thought it was a lot of money! Good though so I know what the issues were properly last time so can obsessively google stuff.

owlbooty · 16/03/2011 13:14

Trufflepig I had a 9 week scan cos of the previous teflon womble scenario - just wanted the reassurance. Twas luffly.

Meds I LOVE THE POTATO SCONE. That is all. Except that you can keep the hideous black pudding filth.

GGGG estate agents are the work of Satan even if they are hawt.

Scorps yeeeessss, the sieve Grin

Bites gaaahhhhh tiny shorts!!! Except we have already established that baybees have basically no legs to speak of so are they really trousers?

I have told a few more people at work. Mostly they have been disbelieving and surprised. Except the one who caught me sneaking out of Mothercare the other week after a sock-fondling episode. The MW sonographer reckoned in a week or two I will suddenly be massivehuge. That should be entertaining :)

Truffkin · 16/03/2011 13:14

I'd be just over 6 weeks so very early really (am only 5 weeks now) I might talk to my GP next week and see what comes of it. I just feel weird telling people with only a HPT for back up! I might just have to get over myself and HTFU a bit.

After lurking on here for so long I have 'Love It, Love It, Love It' and mei tai baby carriers web sites bookmarked Blush I'm a shopper anyway so can't wait to be buying stuff (long way off, hope it flies by)

LadyGoneGaga · 16/03/2011 13:23

I love slings . Quite fancy a Meit Tai. Wrap slings are great for little ones though. I had a Moby and loved it.

Muser · 16/03/2011 13:32

You may not see much at 6 weeks Truff. At my six week scan there was no sign of baybee, just the sac. Baybee appeared at 8 weeks. I had a lot of scans due to lazy embryo not being bothered to make it's way to the wombular.

Muser · 16/03/2011 13:33

That it's was stoopid autocorrect on iPhone.

owlbooty · 16/03/2011 14:28

Yeah, I'd hang fire a bit Truffs as if you can wait til 8+ weeks you will see far, far more. At 6 weeks you may not see heartbeat esp. if it turns out you actually conceived later than your dates suggest (lazy spermz, late implantation etc).

iPhone cannot spell. Buahahahahaha. Why do stupid IT devices always think they know best?

milanomum · 16/03/2011 15:12

Truffs I had a 6.5 week scan and then a menkul 9.5 week scan too Blush because of disappearing baybee incident in September. I would totally recommend one for peace of mind but agree with the others that before 7 weeks you might not see much so it won't really put your mind at rest IYSWIM. I think I spent the cost of a scan in CBdigis just to see the number going up but once you are 4+ weeks the 3+ sign just doesn't feel like enough anymore Confused

LGG I'm not sure I'd want to know everything (never mind pay them £50 ) but sounds like you have lots to obsess about flick through leisurely.

Is a potato scone much like potato bread? Pretty much any potato thing is good though, no? even crappy industrial potato shapes are tasty.

Truffkin · 16/03/2011 17:18

Blush I may have spent some money on CB Digi conception indicator tests so I can see the number going up. I did one yesterday morning and was excited it now says 2-3 as it was 1-2 on Friday morning Grin

I'm going to talk to my GP on Tuesday and maybe get some of the mekul out of my system. We've got a couple of weeks to discuss it so hopefully I can get TGB to agree to keep it between us and save a ton in the process (which I can then spend later on when I get to buy my ever growing shopping list)

Medee · 16/03/2011 17:22

potato scone here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potato_scone thinner than an Irish farl.

OP posts:
Ocarina · 16/03/2011 17:39

Mmmm, tattie scones. Breakfast is definitely not complete without one. Or two. Or maybe three.....

Truff I know what you mean about the weirdness of telling people just on the basis of an HPT. We waited till after the scan to tell pretty much anyone (not least because trying to get family to stay quiet for any amount of time was always going to be a challenge (which MIL failed miserably ) but longer = harder), but I can see the attraction of telling people in person, not least because you get to see their reactions! But having a scan where you might not see a heartbeat sounds like a sure way to fuel menkul probably unnecessarily. Or it would undoubtedly fuel mine.

Thanks for the mallet link Milano, one would definitely be handy for any more stupid people. I suspect there are other people thinking what that guy said, but they all have the decency to keep it to themselves, thus far at least.

Oh, I know what I was going to ask you wise PESHes, although I'm sure the conversation's been had before. I think I'm getting to the point where I'm going to have to give in and buy new bras, where's the best place to go? I don't really want to give up my underwiring but suspect that's what I'll be told to do in which case I want them to be super supportive. And I probably should get measured properly.... Any suggestions?

Medee · 16/03/2011 17:40

oh god, the news on the March thread is so upsetting, and I am not the kind of person who normally gets upset about a complete stranger on the internet.

OP posts:
Medee · 16/03/2011 17:41

JOhn Lewis for me, Ocarina, but although I knew I could still wear underwires if properly fitted, scary but efficient lady bullied me into admittedly comfortable and well-fitting non-wireds.

OP posts:
Muser · 16/03/2011 17:43

I know Medee, it's awful. And I've been getting annoyed today that Bob just won't stop feeding. Wake up call time. I am so lucky. I have no idea how you cope with something like that. It makes me want to weep for them. The pain must be indescribable.

Casserole · 16/03/2011 17:45
Sad

How dreadful for them.

Wake-up call indeed.
