The earlier feeling 2nd time round is due to the fact your stomach muscles are a bit looser do to being stretched before, I read that recently. Sorry thats prob not what you want to hear!!! :o

muse your weekend sounds lovely!! you probably already know this and are planning on baby being in with you for the first few months but i also read somewhere you need to wait for 3 months after painting a room before putting a baby to sleep in there cos of fumes etc. sorry if this is teaching u to suck eggs, is just cos i care! Blush

Ok have just booked family holiday (sans my dad) and then spoke to dad afterwards, at which point he mentioned something about 'all the people he most cares about in one place" (ie on one plane) and i promptly burst into tears. I am now feeling really guilty about leaving him on his own for a week fretting about us :( ever wish you could be in two places at once?

LadyGoneGaga · 15/01/2011 12:25

Good point, Gin - will raise it.

Muser · 15/01/2011 14:43

I am doing a tiny sceptical face at 3 months rocket, that sounds like a very long time. Baby will be in with us anyway, so no biggie. But 3 months? Aren't most paints all water based, low fume, stuff now?

Anyway, we have the paint, it is yellow. TBG is just washing the walls down and then I shall go and get with the painting. Hope is to do both coats today so we can get the stuff back in there tomorrow. But it's already nearly 3pm. Hmmm.

OP posts:
Muser · 15/01/2011 16:25

My word painting is hard work. I have left TBG doing the fiddly bits round the back door (fnaar) and collapsed on sofa. Once he's done there's one wall to go. Then we wait 3 hours to dry and on with the second coat.

We have been shopping - now have a bath, a set of 7 white body suits, a slightly unnecessary, but very reduced and beautifully soft cashmere all-in-one with matching hat, a thermometer (the Avent one) and two hats.

I'm slightly confused by all the different types of bodysuits though - sleep suits appear to have feet, and body suits have no legs, so what do they wear on their bottom halves? And where do vests fit in? And what's the point of sleeveless, legless body suits? Is it just baby underwear?

Medee · 15/01/2011 16:42

I'm impressed Muse.

Muser · 15/01/2011 16:57

It is underwear in cold weather, as far as I can tell from what others have said Medee. So you might put one of the no arm/no legs vests under a sleepsuit or a full length body suit. We bought some little baby leggings to wear with the long sleeve/no legs body suits.

We have now completed the first coat, I'm glad it's a small room. I am exhausted. And we need to do the second coat tonight so we can shift everything back for the new carpets tomorrow.

Medee · 15/01/2011 17:00

thanks, that makes sense.

CluckyKate · 15/01/2011 17:16

Stomach muscles Rocket Hmm....what are they???

Sleeveless, short-sleeved & long-sleeved bodysuits with no legs all count as vests/underwear in my book Meds i.e. to be worn underneath sleepsuits, romper suits and clothes.

Medee · 15/01/2011 17:21

thanks Kate.

owlbooty · 15/01/2011 17:45

Oooo I like all this talk of purchasing lovely new stuff. Anyone who can work one of those sling things is clearly a genius.

Vege garden doesn't take that long to maintain, G , depending on what you grow. Tomatoes are always a winner as are sugarsnap peas and runner beans.

I don't feel sicky any more. In fact, I have eaten tonnes today. Either something is wrong or this is the beginning of the feeling marvellous bit - 11 weeks sound about right, anyone? Either way it has enabled me to have fish and chips, which is always ace.

ginhag · 15/01/2011 17:56

Sounds normal sheikyerbooty. though not all peshies are so lucky :)

You are missing from the Not List, we'll have to get you on there next time...

meds what Kate said. They are also good for older babies with trousers/jeans/whateva as they then work as t shirts or long sleeved tops that stay tucked in.

Newborn outfit 98% of time = short sleeved vest thing under sleepsuit. Or long sleeved vest thing under sleep suit if it's a bit chilly. Layers n blankets n shiz on top if you go out...

Also when/if you start using grobag type things (which are ace for wriggly babies) then generally a long sleeved vest is all they need for bedtime (more if it's fecking freezing, less if it's hot...erm...obviously Confused)

That was very dull, but may be vaguely helpful to someone, somewhere??

ginhag · 15/01/2011 18:00

I didn't feel thing2 until something like 17 weeks GG and even then I was not entirely sure. I obviously still have great abs (hahahahahahahahahahahaha I think not)

Muser · 15/01/2011 18:10

I have just discovered John Lewis do Quentin Blake lampshades. I heart Quentin Blake.

OP posts:
ginhag · 15/01/2011 18:14

muse have you checked if drom has one yet? Grin

Medee · 15/01/2011 18:34

not dull, v useful. By Vest do you mean a bottomless vest, or do you mean a sleeveless bodysuit?

PerfectDromedary · 15/01/2011 19:00

Tres amusant, ginlet. Just cos I am single white female style stalking muse.

1 NCT day down, 1 to go. Had to book intensive weekend course. Everyone is of BESH age, tho perhaps not BESHly attitude.

ApresSki I think I'm feeling vulnerable in crowds because I just can't work out how much space I'm taking up. Hopefully will be fixed by the birth, but will deffo keep an eye on agoraphobic reactions.

PerfectDromedary · 15/01/2011 19:01

NB Wouldn't mind a Quentin Blake lampshade tho. I luff him too.

rocketleaf · 15/01/2011 19:08

Furry muff muse just thought I'd mention it.

I'm glad I am not the only one getting confused by all the different configurations of suits. I hadn't thought about layering leg less ones under sleep suits etc. Duh makes sense now.

Muser · 15/01/2011 19:50

No it is a good thing to point out rocket, I hadn't heard it before.

We are done. One room all painted. Now ordering takeaway as our reward.

OP posts:
ginhag · 15/01/2011 23:05

meds by vest I mean a legless bodysuit. Generally tshirt sleeved or sleeveless, but I was lumping the long sleeved ones in the same description as they all serve more or less the same purpose.

It does start to make sense, honest :)

ginhag · 15/01/2011 23:13

Ps mr gin got back from building tradeshow stand and we had a big (mostly non-verbal) fall out, which must have been fun for my parents!

All fine now, but it (and the fact that once I started crying I couldn't stop) did show that things are getting on top of me somewhat. Have realised I need a leaving date for work...that will help.

On the plus side I cooked this evening (a rarity chez gin, hence me not bovvering filling freezer etc-is what man is for :)) and everyone is still alive, hurrah.

Think I'm in for another full on night of BHs. Belly was going off throughout dinner, impressed my dad with my rock-like 'abs' Grin Last night I was awake from about 4 til 7am with them, plus periody pains...I even took paracetomol, as I really fancied being asleep at that point.

My body is really weirding me out.

Muser · 15/01/2011 23:22

Oh poor gin, you need to take it easy. Big yes to a leaving date, make it soon.

OP posts:
ginhag · 15/01/2011 23:24

How much longer have you got muse?

CluckyKate · 15/01/2011 23:33

I feel your pain(ish) Gin - BH & periody pains here too. Not bad enough to keep me awake (yet) but am blessed with ability to sleep through anything including overloaded bladder....Tena lady has been a lifesaver in the mornings when I eventually haul my great carcass from the bed.

Mucho wriggling from the baybee too, head down so am sitting, legs akimbo, like an old granny and heavy pressure on my lower back. Tres uncomfortable but means d-day can't be too far away [hopeful emoticon]

Oh, and crying & stropping is now a regular occurrance in this house and it's not just from the toddler. MrCK has developed a thicker skin and lets it all just wash over him.
