Oh I have put in top bid, and I'm not going over it. Not when I already have a sling. If I can grab a bargain I will, otherwise I am quite content.

very sensible muse :o after just watching kari-me demo vid and close carrier demo vid, i must say the closer does look easier. but that might just be cos i couldn't find a proper kari-me one, just some bloke demoing it in his front room.

Muser · 14/01/2011 22:56

I had a go at my Kari-me before the bump got too big, it's actually pretty easy. I don't think I got it entirely right first time, but I wasn't too far off.

Try this for an instruction:

Grin muse

rocket I work 3 days. Rest of the time I'm with The Busiest Child On Earth...so not exactly a rest :)

Don't feel shit about comp, aiming if your back is fucked though you silly arse [jim royle emoticon]

Wrt physio, took about month-6 weeks to get first appt, then had repeat appt (the one I just missed) 3 weeks later. I will prob try and get an alternative one but it may well be too late...and yeah I'm not sure what would actually help anyway, I have had about 6 chiro appts without really achieving anything other than a lighter wallet.

Muser · 14/01/2011 23:03

And if you want a wrap instruction video with a less distracting child in it, there's this one

rocketleaf · 14/01/2011 23:06

Thanks muse that one looks better, will give it a watch, glad i havent bought a duff thing for my friend anyway!

Ah ta gin thats a bit quicker then but prob more to do with post code than anything else. Still think i will mention it to the doc when i go to get scan results, may as well get him to look at the wart on my sole as well so he can put me down as a proper hypochic. :o I am hopefully sorting out a free osteo taster session at a place in town next week, its only 15 mins but at least could assess if they think they can do anything to help. too scarred to go to chiro with all that popping and leaning on you, eep!

Also meant to answer to medee about birds on other thread, i am just going to sew them onto the twigs and hope they stay upright rather than doing dead canary down a mine impression. :o

ginhag · 14/01/2011 23:10

Rocket the doc did say they try to get pg referrals thru quicker, as if they leave it too long then the appt could well be useless, ie if it's pg related there's not much point going when you've had the baby...

rocketleaf · 14/01/2011 23:19

aha! good to know, and mine was pretty good at speeding things up with the scans so you never know. fingers crossed.

rocketleaf · 14/01/2011 23:22

blimey muse that last one was super quick i had to question if that was real time or speeded up a bit. she must have done that a few thousand times!

Medee · 15/01/2011 09:29

ah, that makes sense.

Now, am I imagining things, or is some retailer doing buy one get one half price on packs of babygros? Only one I can see online is Mothercare in a little bit of their sale stuff.

LadyGoneGaga · 15/01/2011 09:32

Wrap slings are pretty easy once you get the hang of them - and babies love them and they are sooo comfy. Is why I never used my vey expensive pushchair much at all! I have a Moby in Chocolate. Might also invest in a pretty ring sling for quicker wear round the house here.

I really feel for the commuters. I can't count mine as a commute since it's only 15 minustes across town in the car with a stop off at nursery on the way. But in my defence I am 5 days a week with toddler so still finding work bit tiring but am fully expecting the fabled second trimester energy burst to kick in any day now Smile.

LadyGoneGaga · 15/01/2011 09:33

That means work 5 days a week at work AND have toddler.

PrincessBoo · 15/01/2011 09:53

I never got to grips with ring slings they kept getting caught in my hair! I had such a funky one too, it was a shame. I ended up using one that was like just one piece of material that was made for a friend (but was too big for her frame so she gave it to round little me), think the one that was most similar is called a 'hotsling'. But the babycarrier I praise to the skies is the ergo. Pricey, but worth it's weight in saffron, and easy for men and women to use. I still use it now (if on long walks and smallchild is begging for a carry and I'm cream crackered). They do an infant insert for newborns so when (PMA) I get updiffed that will be my first pruchase.

Salade your blog is fabby. I am vair excited about watching the nursery appear.

AlpinePony · 15/01/2011 09:56

drom If you're feeling twitchy in crowds, you might want to consider some sort of net/shield/whatever for the pram. For me, I still found crowds very intimidating when I was out with the pram - and if people can see the baby's face they'll want to stop and talk. I hated it. My baby. Everyone else can fuck off. I avoided crowded areas, e.g., if I wanted to go in to town I was there knocking on the doors at 9am. It's better now, but I don't do crowds in general.

Muser · 15/01/2011 10:01

The benefit of having a pram that faces you, gaze at baby, ignore horrible crowds.

We have a whole weekend of baby stuff planned. First I go to pilates. Then we go buy paint to paint the study/baby room. Tomorrow we shift everything out of bedroom/hallway so the last of the carpets can go down on Monday. And then Sunday evening it's NCT breastfeeding session.

I am starting to feel quite organised really. And TBG has said yes to the expensive M&S chest of drawers as he'd rather spend the extra money and get something nice that lasts. Learning the lessons of our shitty wardrobes there.

OP posts:
LadyGoneGaga · 15/01/2011 10:26

Slings also good for crowds - they can't really peer at the baby without really invading your personal space which very few people will do. And they are sooo good for avoiding escalators and the like.

Sounds like a lovely weekend, Muse. MrG is mending our shower which I broke whilst trying to delimescale it Blush. Also has to reseal it as been pissing water through the kitchen ceiling. I have to do some work - boo - due to avoidable fuckwittery by the team yesterday which I now need to sort out Angry.

I could have sworn I felt baby yesterday - the lightest feather strokes - seems a bit early (13 weeks tomorrow) but think you do feel earlier second time round? There were no trumps forthcoming after it so think not wind. Do I have an over-active imagination?

PrincessBoo · 15/01/2011 10:40

And slings are fab when you need to pop to a shop quickly and don't want to faff about getting car seats or prams out. SLings just rock don't they?

Yes Lady people always report feeling baybee earlier second time round. There is a reason, can't remember why. How lovely :)

What is your job Lady? I have forgotten (or maybe have I haven't asked before!).

LadyGoneGaga · 15/01/2011 10:58

I do Market research into brands and advertising type stuff for big corporations, Boo. All not very altruistic. My idealistic 16 year old self would be horrified. Like you I have sporadic dreams of chucking it all in and becoming a midwife. Maybe one day...sighs.

PrincessBoo · 15/01/2011 11:10

Ah well, right now you're doing your own market research into midwifery from an inside point of view. S'all part of the grand plan innit? :o

Medee · 15/01/2011 11:12

Our antenatal teacher said new parents are the most marketed-to group in the UK - it certainly feels true, is it lGG?

LadyGoneGaga · 15/01/2011 11:30

Prolly - but I primarily work on booze so not so much new parents. They are a pretty hard group to research as constant turnover of people in the group and hard to find unless you pay Bounty people loads of cash.

I used to work for Heinz though, although not the babyfood bit. Goes without saying I didn't feed my baybee on anything produced by Heinz.

CluckyKate · 15/01/2011 11:33

Could well be the baby GaGa - I felt this one move around 13/14 weeks. Think it because you've felt it before so recognise the sensation sooner.

I did 5 days with toddler too plus 2 horses and a dog and was so releived to jack it all in at 35 1/2 weeks - managed to work to just past 38 weeks last time. Still rushing round like a mad thing though.....how the heck did I ever find time to work????

LadyGoneGaga · 15/01/2011 11:59

Hats off to you, Kate. I used to ride but decided I didn't have time for horse and babies. Maybe when they're older...

Mind you, harbouring ambitions of a veg patch when/if we ever move, assume they take time? My problem is I am too lazy (still in pj's)

ginhag · 15/01/2011 12:00

Booze=very best thing to market at new parents IMO!

AlpinePony · 15/01/2011 12:17

I think I've been living here too long then and have a changed perception of "personal space". Here, they have no problem about peering in to /at the baby - forward/backwards/sideways facing pram/sling or not! Personally I think people just like looking at babies - the only people who will ignore you are people aged 12-30.
