Laylasmum · 28/09/2005 21:48

Absolutely Rodeo!!! Let me know how the City experience was won't you!! In some ways I wish it was me as i'm getting totally fed up now!!

rodeo1 · 28/09/2005 21:48

Someone may beat me yet Sarah!! Feel a bit of a fraud, because I should go over to the Oct thread now. But I don't know any of them...boohoo!! So I'm hoping you'll all still have me and not kick me off

I will let you know Laylasmum! Did you have your dd there? I've had both mine there and it's been fine (apart from the odd 'Vicky Pollard' )

OP posts:
Laylasmum · 28/09/2005 21:52

No had DD at Whittington hospital in London ( Wasn't particularly pleasant have to say! ) We should organise a post natal meet up shouldn't we? Don't know if there's anyone else round our way though do you?

rodeo1 · 28/09/2005 22:01

If anyones after a bouncing cradle, my friend says Costco have the mamas and papas bouncing vibrating all singing ones at the mo and are about 28 pounds, going to get her to pick one up for me.

Tex, about the elective section, with my first pg, when I lost my dd at 26wks, I was cut the classical way (which looks normal from the outside but is like an upside-down T on the inside apparently!) so I was told I wouldn't be able to 'do' labour because the vertical scar on the inside could rupture. I've a few friends who've had VBAC's, and they were fine (and prefered it) one didn't realise she was in labour, thought she just had backache and was about 5cm dialated!! A week before her section was due!! But it is totally personal and you shouldn't feel pressurised into anything.

Where's Nova been lately? Not seen her post for a couple of days?

Chacha, have some horlicks and some bread and butter! Always does the trick for me!

Yes definitely, we should do a meet up Laylasmum, maybe one lunchtime in Derby before Christmas? Or would that be too manic? Twinkle lives in North Derbyshire, actually I think she's nearer to Sheffield, and new member Kate7 lives near Nottingham I think?

Does anyone else live near us?!

Rodeo, thanks for the info about your C-sections. So sorry to hear about your DD. I must've missed that in earlier posts. I think a section is right for me but would attempt a VBAC if baby wants to come earlier. I've never experienced natural labour (DS was induced and helped along every step of the way) so it's like the first time for me. I worry about knowing if labour starts for real.

Unfortunately, can't make it to the meet-up on Friday. I'm actually going to another mumsnet get together. What a social website we are! Hope you guys have a great time. Anyone going to post some pics?

Hi all

Well done Rodeo for the new thread.

Well yesterday was not as boring as I thought it would be. Decided to go and get a border for the nursery and ended up going to three different DIY shops and then into town, so didn't get back until 3, then watched tv, read, fell asleep and made a lovely dinner!

Today I am going to attack the nursery once again. Do a little painting, put border up, and make a notice board. I bought a cork pin board which I am going to cover with fabric and the criss cross with ribbon. We are hopefully going to put loads of piccies of us and bubs on it in his/hers room. I also bought 3 wicker turnks that were on offer, so am going to set them up today in the room with the rest of the stuff in them that won't fit anywhere else!!!!! I was so pleased with myself, I bought all of these things with that £50 I found, so it was lovely to spend and not feel guilty!!!!!

Hope Nova is ok, not heard from her in ages!!!

Hope everyone else is also ok and planning a lovely day today.

Speak later

Hello everyone! This is my first post in the Nov antenatal club, I'm expecting my third baby on Nov 19.
I live overseas and coming 'home' to deliver, hopefully a homebirth at my in-laws house in Greenwich! Have booked in with an independent midwife and now trying to find info on birth pools - are any of you planning to hire one?
Don't really know how these message boards work - are you chatting every day?

Look forward to getting to know you all and sharing these fab, exciting last few weeks!

Enthusia · 29/09/2005 08:31

Welcome dimples

Yes we do talk everyday - usually more than once, some of us more than 10 - 20 - can get very addictive.

Where are you living abroad and when are you coming back? It must be hard getting flights the further on you are.

Don't know how you are getting on looking for pools but these ones are meant to be excellent, although they are pricey. Look here

Busyalexsmummy · 29/09/2005 09:19

hi all, been ages since i last came on and so many posts i cant read them all, so i hope i havent missed anything important

Saw m/w yesterday, fundal height normal=32cm, everything else fine, discussed birth plan/labour and have just got to wait to
see the consultant now on 14th oct to see what he says about babys size etc

Have done nothingin relation to choosing names, keep thinking "must get the book out again and pick a few" but never seem to find the timeor i forget! oh well, maybe it'll get named once its here!

Have got bits for hossie bag ready, just got to get a bag for it to go in, dp is buying me the little pink trolly case i want so once thats here im all set!

Am really starting to look forward to xmas now! have started buying bits and bobs, have decided to let everyone else mainly buy ds's prezzies as i was so digusted by the fact in the sales last yr, most of his toys were less than half price less than 2 weeks after xmas, so my master plan is(whilst hes still at the age he wont understand) to get the bulk of his prezzies after xmas and also a whole new wardrobe as hes really short of clothes!mean mummy!!

MIL has been bleating on about buying the babies something for xmas, but managed to persuade her just to get a small pram toy(she gets carried away)I think Ill just get the baby a new outfit for xmas and get SIL's baby a small toy or a baby gift set.

well better go x

DH came home last night and said he was nvited to go to a football match (posh box) with work could he go ??? oh and it will be on boxing day!!! so i said no am i been selfish????but the thought of all day boxing day with no close family 2 kids and a new baby is too much. Am i been unreasonable????

Busyalexsmummy · 29/09/2005 09:44

twinkle-i dont think your being unreasonable at all, I would have said the same thing if my dp asked something like that, like you said, you dont want to be left alone on boxing day with 2 children and a new demanding baby

tex111 · 29/09/2005 09:57

Twinkle, I would feel the same way about the football. DH has been making noises about a conference in California in November! Can you imagine? I just gave him a look that said it all. We need these guys to be around.

twinkle1 · 29/09/2005 09:59

rodeo, just had a look on route planner its about 100 mile round trip to get to derby it would take about 1.5 hrs to get there.Meadowhall would take about 50 mins and is 75mile round trip. where is best for everyone else???

karmamother · 29/09/2005 10:00

Twinkle1, you could turn the Footy to your advantage. Allow him to go but with a HUGE list of conditions, eg he must do all the shopping, washing, ironning etc for 6 months. I think thats a fair swap!

twinkle1 · 29/09/2005 10:08

karma i like it !! not sure he will go for that.I used to live in Hartlepool till last year when we moved down here. so know newcastle well can't think of name but someone else lives up there in guisboro i think. There are a few of us around here so hopefully we will have a meet up soon maybe in meadow hall.If you have a meet in north east and im about (we get home regularly as all family lives up there)would love to meet up metro center here i come.

karmamother · 29/09/2005 10:29

That would be great, Twinkle1. I feel a bit remote up here! I'm not sure where Meadow Hall is but I do worship in the Church Of The Holy Metrocentre most weekends!! Shopping centres seem to be the easiest place to meet, logistically.

When I move on Saturday down to Yorks then I'll be a little bit nearer to everyone. I'm busy packing this week but I keep getting distracted by MN! Having an early nesting-fest, loads of stuff going to Oxfam today. If I'd been more organised I could've offloaded it all on Ebay but didn't get around to it.

Back to the packing....[tired emoticon]

babyonboard · 29/09/2005 11:23

morning everyoone..
karma - Meadowhall is on the M1 junction for sheffield..very easy to find!
Feeling resteless today..can't decide what to do with myself, so I'll have to figure something out before I end up going on a shopping trip..

rodeo1 · 29/09/2005 12:34

Morning all, Meadowhall in Sheffield sounds not to bad for us Midlanders/Northerners? I'd be happy to travel up there, if that would be fine for everyone else. Would before Xmas be too manic or would after be better? Hmmm..I'd be fine with before but some of you might only have month old babies and it might be too much maybe? I'll have a big 2 month old by then!!

So hopefully me, Twinkle, Karma and Laylasmum so far, any more takers?!

Right I'll catch up more later, off for lunch x x x

11 days to go!!

OP posts:
rodeo1 · 29/09/2005 12:46

BTW Twinkle, no I don't think you're being unreasonable but just ran it past dp and he sympathises with your dh! Typical! But I did veto a night out he was supposed to have in Blackpool last weekend because he wanted to stay over and I didn't want him to be that far away!

OP posts:
rodeo1 · 29/09/2005 12:48

Just read Karmamother's suggestion, Twinkle - I say go with that, brill idea!

Oh, and welcome Dimples!!
