BoB

Glad everything is well and that yoy got some extra shots of baby out of it all. I would also be very pi**sed off if my DH was told to work if I was admitted to hospital. Hope he gets a new job sorted soon.

Relax and take care of yourself.

Enthusia - when i was pg with dd i was only 17 (18 when i had her) and wasnt really clued up on what could happen, miscarriage for example was something i didnt think about once. But as soon as i hit 36 weeks i was panicing about the same things you mentioned, all the what if's?

Havent quite got to that stage just yet this time but i have 8 weeks to get there and im sure i will!

Rodeo - ooooops, didnt mean to ruin those names for you but i suppose thats two more to strike off your list, must be close to a decision now then?

The name i chose for a girl was Ava, dp wanted to use his mums name, Lynn, as middle name but i thought my mum would be a little peeved so i squished them together to get Avalyn so she'd never know! So thats what we've decided on. I wanted Rose for the middle name but theres the ARS initial thing.

For a boy i liked Alfie for ages but im not sure if i like it any more. When i was pg with dd i had first and middle names sorted for both boy or girl by the time i was 20 weeks, i just cant pick any this time around.

Getting excited now, going to pick up pram on wednesday, that will be my first purchase! I think i really need to get my act together, havent even thought about a hospital bag yet, let alone packed one!

I think i must have gotten really big all of a sudden, not had many commments while i've been out, but yesterday i went to the local shop and was asked when the baby was due, she hadn't mentioned anything before, she looked horrified when i told her the end of November!

Off to deal with dd who is throwing a tantrum at the tv demanding "Beebies" Oh the joys of motherhood

Busyalexsmummy · 03/10/2005 10:18

BoB-glad everythings well after your scare

sarahsausage-how old is your dd? my ds is addicted to cbeebees at the moment, which i hate as i swore i wouldnt let him watch too much tv, but its really hard in this weather isnt it as its getting too cold for walk/park etc and i dont know about you but im feeling so heavy/big that going anywhere now is quite a chore!
ds is really hard as hes at that stage where hes in between toys, hes starting to disregard his more babyish toys such as his peekablock stuff and ride on toys and is starting to get intrested in drawing/playdough etc, but hes still at that stage where he is putting the occasional thing in his mouth so cant be trusted!
I try to sit down with him and do different activities but its hard as theres other things that i need to get done during the day and after doing an activity comes the cleaning/clearing up which all takes time aswell.

anyone got any good ideas to keep a mischeifs(sp?) 19 months old lad happy/amused?

babyonboard · 03/10/2005 10:24

enthusia..I have been having such odd dreams and thoughts too..but like you said i guess it's just natural concerns..i've personally been worried about FAS..silly I know..but I had a few crazy nights out before I found out I was pregnant. I have given up my shandy a week now too..the smell of alcohol makes me feel ill...even just on dps breath if he's been drinking (though thats not too nice under any circumstances!)
Nova..hope everything is okay with your family!
sarah..thank god somone else isn't totally prepared..hehe..all the other ladies on here make me feel very disorganised sometimes!

forgot to share a hilarious story from the hospital..a woman turned up at the ward with an entourage of 6 people..and two suitcases and an overnight bag.
she was put in the bed next to me and when the midwife came she said she was 38 weeks and had had three contactions that morning, about an hour apart! no other signs at all..she had brought her husband, mum, dad, sister and two friends...the look on the midwives face was hilarious!
needless to say they were sent home again, and she protested quite a lot!...

ChaCha · 03/10/2005 10:25

Good morning,

Ohhh Enthusia, Good Luck at the dentist!

I was reading the 'Best Friends guide to Pregnancy' that came free with a pregnancy mag last night and I was in stitches at the section entitled 'I can't sleep!'. Has anyone read it? Here is how she describes the turning over in bed with her 'giant pillow' (or grobag) "I would grab it with Phil with both arms and both legs and flip it over with me, much like an alligator wrestler might do. It invariably shook the bed so violently that my husband nearly feel out and the duvet would land somewhere halfway across the room" (Phil is the name her husband has given pillow) Tee-hee!! Ring a bell?

Heartburn yesterday was really chronic - what are we supposed to do other than the antacids and Galviscon? I was sick all through the night, seems that being sick actually helps me breathe if that makes sense. How are most of you coping a this stage?

Sarahsausage - Well done on the knitting front!

Oh and Enthusia, I think as Busy said, it's normal to have such thoughts. I read about it somewhere.

I just want to breathe....I feel there is no more space! And 7-8 weeks still to go

ChaCha · 03/10/2005 10:30

I'm so slow today, you guys have posted messages in the time it's taken me to type what i did!!
Sorry for pathetic typos, hope you can work out my post. Should read 'I would grab Phil with...' and 'fell out' instead of 'feel'....

BoB - Welcome back! Glad all is well. Are you resting now? Feeling better?

sarahsausage · 03/10/2005 10:30

My dd is 2 in 2 weeks, she drives me crazy. She has sooooooo much energy and i cant keep up with her any more.

I know what you mean about trying to keep them busy, shes just into everything, makes it impossible to do housework when shes at the back of me undoing everything i do! Thats when i relent and put Boogie Beebies dvd on for her, she can tire herself out while i do the housework! She watches more tv now im pg than she did before, but some of it is educational. She was watching Teletubbies the other day and they were saying up and down and doing actions to show up and down, Dd woke me up the following morning with her teddy in her hand holding it up and saying "up" and putting it down saying "down". So they are good for some things!

As for keeping a 19 month old busy AND out of mischief, i have no idea

LOL

I must have a long way to go then! Still sat here in PJs with no notion of moving whatsoever!

You can have my m/w. She is very, very chilled! In fact, so laid back and relaxed a visit can be quite therapeutic.

twinkle1 · 03/10/2005 11:21

babyonboard · 03/10/2005 11:23

Enthusia..how can you possibly have anymore cleaning to do!? hehehee
I am having serious urges to sort through all the clothes and baby paraphernalia, and reorganise where they are stored..and clean of course! but dp has ordered me to rest..
it's a funny one, you'd think rest is good..but as low blood presssure was my problem I imagine activity is all good! (limited of course by the darn SPD)
One thing though..how do you clean the oven? I got dp to do it previously but really want to today, and I'm sure the foam is toxic so won't go near it....

Busyalexsmummy · 03/10/2005 11:25

congrats twinkle, how cool, at least youve got a specific date to look forward to now!

just trying something out to see if it works
this

Busyalexsmummy · 03/10/2005 11:29

woohoo! i think it worked!

Diege · 03/10/2005 11:41

Stop it Enthusia!!! Too much energy!!!
Glad you're out of the hossie BoB - LoL re: story about woman in 'labour'!
Rodeo: lol re: 'big light'; I've always said it. Do you think it's a northern thing? Big ignorant, but clueless about 'Gryffinder Quidditch Captain'?? Probably showing my ignorance here!.
Started to really panic last night about going really early. The head's pressing down a lot, and lots of BHs too. Does anyone else alternate between being really excited and desperate for it to arrive one minute, then utter horror/panic/'end of the world' the next? Last day at work tommorrow , but worried that I'll just lie on the sofa watching city hosp. etc, and start to worry some more! Will hopefully have computer at home in a few weeks, so will be able to keep up a bit better!.
BTW Chacha, your NCT sale wasn't at Warrington was it? (like a million to one chance!)Didn't bother going myself, and glad after your experience! Itching to shop more, but only maternity pads left to get now, and can't conjure up the enthusiasm!
Hope everyone is feeling well!
Diege 34+1

Diege · 03/10/2005 11:45

congrats on your news Twinkle!! . Bet it all feels really real now!!

rodeo1 · 03/10/2005 12:00

Morning all,

BOB- Glad you're back and all's well!!

Twinkle - Brill! A date!! You're back very quick BTW - You must be with a very efficient hospital!

Chacha - That's so funny! What magazine was it from might go and get one if it's still in the shops, I'm having a lazy day today as I am aching from all my hard work of yesterday!! Poor me! Bedroom looks lovely though - just need to put the crib up!

Sorry Diege, It's a character from Harry Potter. He's in the films and he's gorgeous - so good looking!! Only a teenager though I'd say go with Oliver!!

Cute piccies Busy! So you're the guilty one turning up at NCT sales hours early are you!!

Enthusia - slow down woman! I'm v. of all you're energy - are you on pro-plus?!!

PS if any one watched X-factor at the weekend, my step bro and sis' dad went out! Never mind! He was the vicar in Sharon's group if anyone is remotely interested - haha!

Oooooh, one week to go!!

35+5 x x x

Twinkle - well done, another birthday booked!

rodeo1 · 03/10/2005 12:04

Diege, Chacha gave us the tip a week ago to get the Always Night-time pads with wings instead of the maternity pads, which I'd never thought of but seems a much better option! Much comfier IMO

ChaCha · 03/10/2005 12:05

I think I am officially the 'Bath Queen'! It's so relaxing. Am tempted to open hospital bag of treats, everything smells so nice...

Busy - Have just looked at your pics, couldn't make them bigger but they are gorgeous!! Your son is beautiful, he's got such lovely eyes, what a cutie!! You must be so proud of him.

Twinkle - Congratulations!! Another date for the stats then eh? Well, if you needed a motivating kick up the backside you've got it now!! Wow...I can't believe it.

Can anyone pls help me with this heartburn business. It's 24/7 right now, i really feel that i can't breathe and I'm growing!!!!

Diege · 03/10/2005 12:25

Thanks Rodeo! Will definitely try them. All I remember from last 2 times is that you can never have enough pads/knickers etc!! I also had a flashback about lying on your stomach (a much fantasised thought at present!)after the birth, but remember feeling cheated because boobs were so sore! Should have invested in one of Nova's special pillows after all.
Chacha - you'll propbably laugh in my face, but Gaviscon Extra work for me. Get them in tubes on prescription, and the only thing that's every worked for me. Sounds like you are in a whole seprate heartburn league though!
OK, an extremely un-pc question that may disown me from the whole group (and just when I've come back). OK, ready... I am going to bottle-feed !!! I breast fed for 6 months exclusively with dd no.1 , bottles for dd no.2, and for a variety of reasons (mainly selfish ones admittedly)I'm bottle-feeding this time. My question (if you haven't turned away in disgust)is does anyone know the name of the tablets you can take to dry up your milk? Yes, again I do know they are frowned on by everyone in the medical establishment (ie. carcinogenic), but I remember being in so much pain last time. Maybe it;s my panance for being bad, self-centred mummy! They do sell them in chemists, so they are available...hmmm. wish I hadn't started this one now!

ChaCha · 03/10/2005 12:32

[Still at the PC but with breakfast now...]

Diege - Thanks for that. It just seems to have appeared with a vengeance since last night and is still with me. I seem to be growing upwards at an amazing rate and I feel squashed! Not able to breathe, can't quite explain it.

Why would anyone turn away in disgust? Surely it's your decision as the baby's mother what you do with regard to feeding? I never saw anyone turn their nose up at both my friends who smoked during both their pregnancies but yet they did when it came to not b/f!!!
I also remember the look on my friend's face when she was asked 'Why on earth aren't you b/f him?' - I felt really sorry for her..unneccesary pressure I thought. Pooooh!

twinkle1 · 03/10/2005 12:44

Blimey,
having a panic now how will i cope, love afford three children???????arghhhh have i done the right thing?? mind you its a bit bloody late now
ok will go and eat chocolate and calm down.
twinkle

At the end of the day we all bring up our children different ways, dont feel guilty for making the choice you have, you should do what works best for you and your baby and stuff what anyone else thinks
