No booze for our heads,
No clubbing, no Class A's,
No more pants of red

The midwives in the hossie,
Looked down where we lay,
A bunch of old, evil hags,
Fucked on Gas and A.

Ho, ho, ho you bunch of Hoes. Xmas Grin

I didn't want one until I got given one but its the best thing! Also the 'screen' is amazing as it doesn't look like a screen at all, there's no glow and it looks just like paper. The bath thing does trouble me but I am just going to buy one of those waterproof pockets for it I think.

I love 'real' books too but the main issue for me is storage, I am going to have to give away or car boot LOADS of my books because I just don't have room for them, which is gutting really. But its getting ridiculous, they are piled up next to the bed and in boxes all over the house, and for some reason I am feeling a massive urge to declutter (can't think why) :o

muse I am 18 weeks today, no more little twinges since the other night so think Sprout must have been feeling especially acrobatic.

score I think I am going to leave thinking about buying stuff for a few months yet, there's not really anywhere to put it til we've sorted the house out and there's is plenty of time. Plus I need to wait and see what 2nd hand stuff we will get from my cousin.

Lazy day today, having my gall bladder scan tomorrow so going to have a nice day today to make up for a rubbish one tomorrow. pol hope the s&s does the bizniz and the BP is loooooow.

PrincessBoo · 29/12/2010 11:04

I have been a bit snooty about Kindles (bit like mp3s versus records innit?) and I can't afford one anyway so 'tis a moot point, but I can see that when you are all curled up feeding your baybee Sprocket it'll be much easier to hold over hisher head than a massive hardback tome!

rocketleaf · 29/12/2010 11:19

Indeed, boo you can even get MN on it, although its a bit ropey tbh.

Scorpette · 29/12/2010 11:26

I bloody love proper books, but I also love gadgets! As an obsessive bookworm, anything that brings me booooooks is good in my eyes. And I don't take baths, so none of that stuff bothers me. Shame I can't afford one either

Medee · 29/12/2010 11:46

Morning all, lovely to catch up with your Christmas news. Hurrah for the Maswean's arrival! And bah to Polly not laying yet, hope not too long for you to wait now.

We got home yesterday evening, after fairly uneventful journeys down and home. Glad to be back in my own bed, as lovely as it was at mum and dad's. If I had a nickel for everytime someone said, "it will all be different next Christmas..."

I did get pretty tired on the day itself, and it took a few attempts to round up my passengers and head home, but otherwise I have been spoiled rotten. Got one little present for the baby, a wee Arran Aromatics soap in the shape of a teddybear, but all my other presents were for me!

Had a frustrating trip to the Mamas and Papas outlet shop yesterday though - after much debate, finally selected a Moses basket, and various other bits and bobs in matching pattern, only to find out, eventually, that the Moses basket wasn't in stock and couldn't be ordered, so we abandonded the whole endeavour, other than one body suit. Bah! So have to recommence the search, starting with the normal M+P store here, and see what they have in the sale.

Your aunt sounds lufferly, scorps

Oh, and I don't fancy a Kindle, and love all the books I have - though hadn't factored in the breastfeeding angle.

ginhag · 29/12/2010 11:50

I has an iPad surgically attached to my arm so feel a kindle would be overkill.

Muser · 29/12/2010 12:19

I love books, but I read a lot of disposable stuff. I don't feel the need to have a million paperbacks cluttering up the house. I will still buy proper books, but if I want something trashy like the new Jilly Cooper I'd rather get it on the Kindle and not clutter up the place. Especially given I have a husband who buys books at a ridiculous rate. If we both did it we'd run out of space.

that's where we are headed shortly, Bitey. Bizarrely, the MB we failed to be able to order yesterday is on the website!

Ivegotmrbitey · 29/12/2010 13:31

Pah! Thwarted by morning sickness and still not dressed! Is the MB in the sale medee? I am taken with this but not sure how much of that decision is influenced by hormones and being attracted to the website!

MsFC · 29/12/2010 14:44

Fuck a duck, I'm next after polster... Hope your sweep goes well today my lovver. And that your days are calmer now Kurt has gone back to work!

My iPad has a kindley bit which I haven't taken advantage of yet as I have been suckered into all the surfing and apps, but I am practicing using it one handed to read while feeding!

I'm iPad obsessed me. And it's something to play with while the FC plays CoD.

Medee · 29/12/2010 18:03

it is in the sale, Bitey. Mum and Dad may or may not have secured it in the Glasgow branch - not heard back, but she was going to enquire.

That's kind of cute, but also kind of expensive!

oh, and can someone correct my typing of Maswera next time you are amending details.

ChoChoSan · 29/12/2010 18:55

Hello e eryone, and massive congrats to Mas and her Xmas baybee....rooting for Pols and the hb now.

I just bought a bugaboo off that gumtree, but still nowhere near as organized as Muser and Mrs FC, tho hospital bag and birth pool will need to be attended to soon.

My dad has got a chest infection so couldn't comevsee us ...was supposed to be here from Monday, but feels like crap and doesn't want to pass anything on, and vie no idea what incubation periods might be. Hoping he'll come tomorrow or Friday though.

CluckyKate · 29/12/2010 19:41

Good reminder Cho....time I started organising the birthing shiz. Have got local Homebirth Group meeting next week and am hoping to be the first to borrow their new birthing pool.
Sorry to hear about your Dad too - sounds like he's doing the sensible thing in staying away tho.

Anyone else had the flu vaccine??? Am a bit harumpf that have not been invited but not completely convinced on actually having it. Wot are the rest of you doing???

rocketleaf · 29/12/2010 19:58

I got it a few weeks ago, mainly because a diffed friend of mine caught it and was really poorly and there have been quite a few cases of SF in my area. I feel generally a bit shitty with the stones most of the time so didn't want anything else on top of that. I wasn't offered it tho, even tho had MW appointment the week before, it wasn't even mentioned. Rang my GP and they booked me in no questions, no ill effects, my arm wasn't even that sore.

Shame about your pops cho TBs folks have both been really bad with chest infections over xmas which means we haven't seen them :( Think his mum has gone back to work now so hopefully we'll catch em over the weekend.

score your auntie sounds LOVELY, how very sweet of her. made my eyes a bit moist that did Blush

Medee · 29/12/2010 20:08

I had mine ages ago with no issues - they don't seem to be inviting, just expecting you to make the appointment. Given that the number of cases has rocketed 50% and that there are 124 cases per 100,000 people and 200 makes an epidemic, I'd suggest you get it.

Muser · 29/12/2010 20:20

I too have had the jab and it was fine. Over in seconds. No invite here either, which may explain why take up has been low.

PerfectDromedary · 29/12/2010 20:52

Vaccinated in November with no ill effects whatsoever. Just didn't seem sensible to be commuting every day surrounded by germy people without some protection. Wouldn't have bothered for "normal" flu, but was worried about swine flu stuff.

Scorpette · 29/12/2010 21:42

Dear MIL: there's no point arguing with me, I'm not going to eat salmon that you defrosted on Xmas Day and have had out of the fridge waiting to be cooked ever since. And my 'hypochondria' won't give my future child a 'mental complex'. Nor will having both my and TYF's surname make it sexually confused (and I couldn't care less what their sexual orientation will be, anyway). And if it is a girl, it will not be 'second best'. Oh, and that creamy potato dish you served tonight? It's not actually called 'potato dolphinoise'.

I have reached IL overload. Sadly, we don't go until Friday

Clucks, I was worried about the flu jab because I've had a bad reaction to ones on the past, but I rang my GP, saw her a few hours later and all I had was a mild, puny ache in my upper arm for 48 hours plus peace of mind. I say go for it :)

Cho, I hope your Dad gets better v soon. Am sending him virtual grapes and lucozade.

Rocket, my aunty is a dude, that's fo sho. And she's very un-soppy and straightforward too, which made her emotional honesty and loveliness extra touching.

Will PESHes that don't get a Bugaboo be ostracised?! Grin Wink And am I too old and sophistimocated to get the Paul Frank version?

CluckyKate · 29/12/2010 21:43

Thanks folks - that's good to know. Will give the surgery a buzz in the morning to arrange my shot. Even better to hear that none of you have had any side-effects, especially you Score, so no reason not to do it really, is there.

On other news....just 2 more days 'til mat leave. Yippee!!!

Scorpette · 29/12/2010 21:52

Yep, if it doesn't make a superfreak like me ill then you know it'll be okay Wink
