Littlebeaut Got my Bounty pack and voucher for Emmas diary from my booking appt. The first Bounty pack is just books and info, you then take the voucher in the booklet to Boots or Sainsburys to get your Mums-to-be pack, which I personally thought was quite good.

The Emmas Diary one, you can go to the website and join, and print off a voucher and get at Argos or Lloyds pharmacy, again quite good.
Quite a few freebies and vouchers, even a teeny weeny newborn nappy :)
As it's my first, the sight of a newborn nappy is very new to me, I shall be going reusable though once baby had gone through the free ones (have a voucher for 27 free from Tesco with Bounty pack, and half price hospital pack inc 27 nappies, from Asda)

Teladi I was advised not to get my flu jab til after 12 weeks, backed up by my mum too. They said as it was a critical time in baby's development, they would have me wait. When I explained that surely if I get flu it would be even worse, they said it was really up to me. I'm at home most of the time anyway, with DH only so chances of getting it are slimmer. However, it does only take one person to pass it on, even if just the postman!

Annie hunger? It's not hunger, it seems to be some need in me to just not stop eating, it's like an obsession!! I'm v lucky in that I've always been able to eat exactly what I want, but this is taking it to epic proportions! It's appraisal time at work so I've challenged all my staff for a laugh to bring me the best afternoon snack, as they're all living this pregnancy with me day-by-day, they're so excited! So far this week I've had pork pies, cheesecake and a fruit salad. Love them :)

Re flu jabs, I rang my docs as they sent me a letter saying pregnant women must have it, and I'd heard it should be after 12 weeks, nurse and doctor both said it doesn't matter because it's not a live vaccine and it's a damn sight better than getting flu. So got mine tmoz.

Headache? Had one for a week now, right behind my eyes. Same as where I get hangovers, with no wine, how unfair... I miss wine :)

Exciting out there with you lovely ladies, isn't it??! And there's so many of us! :) xx

LouBeee · 12/01/2011 19:19

Couldn't agree more. It's more than just hunger, I get the most incredible physical pain if I don't eat for more than about an hour. Yesterday I had a yoghurt on waking, a bowl of porridge, 2 enormous bacon rolls an hour apart in the canteen and then a stuffed jacket potato ... and this was all before 1pm. I've never eaten this much in my life - and it's beginning to show - I got offered a seat on the tube this morning by a nice young man, which at 8+6 must be a record!

Going for an early scan tomorrow. Impatience has just got the better of me as have heard nothing from midwife or hospital about an appointment for booking in or scan and I just can't wait any longer to have something happen to make it feel real. I called the GP to check they had definitely referred me and they have , apparently UCH just take a while to do their thing. GGgrrrrr ....

davidtennantsmistress · 12/01/2011 19:21

jenni LMAO! obsession with food - yes know the feeling.

littlebeaut - no idea, with DS I got mine at the 12 week scan - but this is going back nearly 5.5 years.

no idea on the flu jab, I keep being told by family members to get it, however I've not been sent for/asked so atm i'm steering away from it.

mrsv - respect on the double jogger.

annie - food yes, atm it's pretty much the only way I can be assured not to feel sick (by eating biscuits), DP is being fab, as we're living day to day with food so he's literally cooking what I want. naughty yes, but I think ooh I just fancy 'XYZ and have to have it lol' yesterday it was chips from the van with ketchup day before was lasagna.

nickstermum · 12/01/2011 19:59

I was physically needing oranges at 7 weeks.. appetite not much this week seem to have gone off everything... making me concerned :(

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 12/01/2011 20:00

OK - very scary day today here. Have had very light spotting and some cramping and I can't but help think the worst! Have spent all day at work panicking and popping back and forwards to the loo. As soon as I got in my car to go home, I burst in to tears and havent stopped since :( Typically, my DH is away tonight, so I've only got my overactive mind & google to keep me occupied - not a good combination! I told myself that we would be sensible this time round, but as I'm nearly 11 weeks, I thought it's OK to get a bit excited! What do you guys suggest? My dating scan isnt until 24th of Jan and I can't wait that long. Does anyone know how I can find out how I can get a private scan in my area and what the costs are? Should I contact my Midwife? How early are EPUs for?

nickstermum · 12/01/2011 20:05

IF dont panic firstly, secondly STEP AWAY from Dr Google...so sorry you are having this.

Call your MW or your GP (or self refer directly to epu (tonight if you can/first thing if not). Get into EPU who will see you upto 14 weeks. The criteria are pain/bleeding whether its brown or red. EPU should get you in tomorrow or at the very latest the day after. You will drive yourself crazy if you have to wait til 24th thats nearly 2 weeks away :(

nickstermum · 12/01/2011 20:07

IF also if its on and off/seems to be stopping thats good. If its just light cramping thats also not sharp pain..so that could be implantation. Lots of ladies on t'other freds have bled lots and babies have been fine....not that you are re-assured any!!

Hideously worrying, and hope you are ok, xx

CappuccinoCarrie · 12/01/2011 20:19

Hope you're ok ifatfirst, rest up and look after yourself.

I need a chinese take-away, only spring rolls and crispy wantons and sesame toast will do! This baby has a very bad diet already Confused Grin

LittleBeaut · 12/01/2011 20:23

IF please try not to panic... I know easier said than done (I've had a miscarriage so I do know exactly whats going on in your head chicky) and call your local EPU straight away and just ask them for advice. They may say go straight there, or go first thing at least they will be expecting you as soon as they can see you. Like nickstermum says I know lots who have had a spotting and even a bleed and been just fine... but for you peace of mind you need to get on the phone asap and checked out. I have my fingers crossed very firmly for you xx

CappuccinoCarrie · 12/01/2011 20:31

We've nearlly filled our first thread, need a new title in the not too distant future!

Leilandri · 12/01/2011 20:52

Ifatfirst PLEASE try not to worry. With my DS I bled on and off for the whole pregnancy, sometimes just spotting, sometimes enough for a towel or 2. I was in and out of EPU and ended up having 9 scans throughout the course of my pregnancy and he was born bang on due date at a hefty 9lbs 5oz, and is a happy 18mnth old now. Contact your EPU, they are there to help, and I found my unit to be brilliant. I hope all is ok with you xx

As for the hunger - Oh My God!! Our grocery bills have almost doubled, as I just can't stop eating! Even started having several visits to the toaster during the night now.Blush I am trying to stick to fruit where I can, but hot buttered toast is just sooo much nicer! Also have been cooking large batches of casseroles in the slow cooker, so I can have a second helping for no extra cost!

Congrats to everyone on your scans, especcially all the first timers out there, nothing like seeing your baby for the first time. My booking in is on 20th, can't wait to get those notes again and make it all more 'real' X

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 12/01/2011 20:57

Thanks girls, I think I've calmed myself down a bit now. Might watch some naff TV to distract myself then have an early night. I've spoken to DH and we've agreed to see how things are overnight, and if they get worse he will try and phone the EPU in the morning.

LittleBeaut · 12/01/2011 21:06

I'm not particularly more hungry than normal but I cant get enough of those boil in the bag fish in butter sauces. I have not had them since I was a kid, I'm not a big fish eater but am having at least two every night for my tea {{oink, oink}}

LittleBeaut · 12/01/2011 21:07

IF I still have my fingers crossed for you, take it easy x

davidtennantsmistress · 12/01/2011 21:44

if - please be kind to yourself, lots and lots of rest, will keep everything crossed for you, I know how worrying it is now, agree as well keep away from the interweb (other than for us) :)

mrsv - also agree talk to us as well if you're worried ref the eating disorders etc.

for our new title I think we should say 'the one where we've all seen our beans/bumps/babies?' as hopefully within the next 4 weeks or so even myself & annie at the very end should be seeing our beans (or clydie as we're calling ours)

Firawla · 12/01/2011 21:53

Ifatfirst - i hope everything is okay for you, i would think prob best to phone the epu and see what they say and if they want to see you, they may be able to reassure you?

loubee i had my other 2 @ uch! i found them good, yeah sometimes does just take a while for apts etc

wishwales · 13/01/2011 07:34

How about 'Awaiting August' for the new title?

bunnyfrance · 13/01/2011 08:57

Ifatfirst - keeping fingers crossed for you.

Oh help, just had my first unsollicited congratulations, at work! And I'm only 9.5 weeks! Although I have embraced my maternity clothes as can no longer fit into my normal ones. Have other people found that you show earlier for second babies?

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 13/01/2011 09:37

Just a quick update - bleeding is more persistant, although brown & watery and no need for a towel yet. Although, it's the cramping that's worrying me, it feels like the beginning of a period, not quite bad enough for painkillers and comes & goes in small waves. I phoned the EPU who suggested I go down to A&E and this was backed up by my doctors receptonist too. So, I guess I'll be spending my day sat at A&E. :(

LadyGoneGaga · 13/01/2011 10:06

Got everything crossed for you, Ifat. Brown is good though. Will be thinking of you xxx

littlemisslozza · 13/01/2011 11:30

Thinking of you ifatfirst. No red blood is a good sign though, hope it settles down and is a false alarm.

bunny I'd heard that you show earlier for second babies but I was smaller for ages when expecting DS2, I suddenly ballooned at about 6-7 months! This time round I have been eating non-stop so I suspect I will show earlier as I'm nurturing a bump due to too many sweets! Grin

davidtennantsmistress · 13/01/2011 11:32

bunny - I'm getting rounded I think lol. but hoping to last till at least 20 weeks again (well was 24 weeks last time)

if - I will be keeping everything crossed for you sweetheart. brown is old blood as lady says, fingers crossed cramping is just where everything is moving & growing etc.

ddas · 13/01/2011 11:36

I've noticed that I rarely post but nearly daily read the thread so still feel connected to it but thought it was about time I posted lol. Lovely to read everyone's stories and be able to relate to them.

IAFirst: Best of luck today at hospital- lots of people have bleeding during pregancy with successful outcomes so we'll all keep fingers crossed for you.

MrsStevo: Congrats-twins that incredible especially as your first!!!

I had my 12 week scan yesterday together with nuchal and bloods- exciting to be able to see the baby (just one lol) again especially since at our viability scan at 8 weeks didn't quite have baby like features yet. Baby was moving about so much took quite a while to measure nuchal thickness but we didn't mind as I could have looked at that screen for ages! And was great to see it moving it's arms and legs about-makes it seem more real although once out of the scan room find it hard to imagine that the baby in the photos is in me-stange I know but think once I can feel the first kick will really sink in. Anyone one else feel like that? They tried to look for sex of baby as they say at 12wks boys can be quite obvious but said he/she kept legs closed the whole time so they couldn't tell unfortunately so will have to wait till the 20wk scan. glad though that my trust lets you know as I know some people like it to be a suprise but we'd really like to know.

ladyG: they change my EDD aswell-to the 24/7/11 so a week further along than expected. Although not convinced as pretty sure of my dates as was using ovulation predictor kits etc and viablity 8wk scan matched my original dates.

re the flu jabs: I had my at about 5wks as I work in a hospital and when oncall am in and out of a&e and when it broke out out was very very glad that did as am in daily contact with it now. there is no harm to baby or you as it's not a live vaccine-only thing is to ask to have the mercury free one: all the one's in pre-filled syringes are. I double checked with one of my friends that is an obs&gynae doc and she reassured me that it was ok regardless of stage of pregnancy.

God that was a long post-sorry!!

Good luck to all those with 12 week scans coming up!!

SMummyS · 13/01/2011 12:26

Any 2nd time mummies??

The bottom of my back and right hip really hurts, it feels like somethings trapped! I don't know if related to pregnancy or cyst on right ovary :( I'm nearly crying at work
