bettyboo83 · 11/01/2011 10:35

I'm with you Bryher, I don't recall the last series being quite so terifying when I wasn't pregnant..! Shock

SMummyS · 11/01/2011 10:57

Booking appointment done, I've been placed under consultant care now :(

EDD is now 18/8/11 :) and a c-section is more likely to happen!

KLou111 · 11/01/2011 11:29

Didn't watch OBEM, too scared to!! Got to go through it so don't want to be put off lol! My mum already put me off a few years ago when she said she wouldn't deliver me as she wouldn't want to see me in so much pain!
Totally want all the the drugs :)

littlemissw · 11/01/2011 12:28

I watched OBEM too (much to DH horror) & the lady that screamed so much even put me off and I've been through it all twice already! LOL

Teladi · 11/01/2011 12:33

I went and saw the midwife for my first of two booking appointments. I had been confused about why I needed two appointments - so this is how it worked in case anyone is interested! I got given a lot of things to read, got my height and weight taken and then next week I have to provide blood and urine samples and she'll do my blood pressure. They do it over two weeks so that I can read the materials and see if I have any questions, then I can ask them next week.

It feels a bit more real now I am 'on the system' so to speak...

I also got booked for my flu vaccination on Thursday. I'm feeling good about this as I keep hearing about people I know apparently having the flu/swine flu... and I really don't want to take the risk.

Teladi · 11/01/2011 12:35

Forgot to add I also watched OBEM since I'd found it interesting and positive last series, and was so scared that I almost had to switch it off! Looking forward to seeing the water birth next week though.

I can't quite believe I'm going to have to do that myself.

LittleBeaut · 11/01/2011 12:44

I havent watched OBEM yet recorded it because I knew I was likely to have a little look at the inside of my eye lids as soon as I got comfy on the sofa.

So I had a little scare this morning and was wondering if anyone else had experienced anything similar. Sorry its a bit gross but... I went for a number two and it was a little difficult, then as I was wiping there was spots of blood. Well I did panic a bit until I realised where exactly it was coming from - durrrr felt like a right silly narna haha

CappuccinoCarrie · 11/01/2011 14:03

Thank you all for the reassurance about needing to drink and wee lots!

littlebeat I'm afraid piles was a by-product of my second pregnancy, I ate a lot of fruit and fibre so that I didn't have to strain, but still ended up with anusol cream to sort them out. Pushing the baby out won't make them any better, but they do get better after that as long as you're not straining too much!!!

I watched OBEM and Steph reminded me of myself in my first labour. The difference in my second was that I had my friend with me TELLING me to calm down and talking me through the breathing for each contraction, and I was on my knees leaning over the bed, then got in the pool, so was much more active. I couldn't quite believe that she was writhing round on her back on the bed - I would have thought the midwives would try to get her up and about to find a more comfortable position? Yes, labour hurts but it is manageable with the right support. Lecture over :)

MrsStevo · 11/01/2011 14:37

Well. WHAT A DAY!!!

I had my early scan today (b/c of no symptoms, big cramping etc)and was fully anticipating to be given bad news.

But instead they confirmed that I'M EXPECTING TWINS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Both look healthy and we saw TWO heartbeats!!

In total and utter shock at the moment but absolutely over the moon!

Still no symptoms though - you'd think with two I'd have twice as many but I'll just consider myself very lucky indeed.

EDD now 27/08/2011 as I'm not quite as far along as we thought - although it is unlikely I'll go full term with them but we'll see.

Eeeeeeeeeekkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you all for your lovely messages and thoughts today x x x

LadyGoneGaga · 11/01/2011 14:43

Wow, double congratulations, MrsStevo! Grin

LadyGoneGaga · 11/01/2011 14:48

We did decide to book a holiday in the end - thanks for all your input. We're having a fortnight in Crete, first couple of weeks in May so I'll be between 28 and 30 weeks. Can't wait! Think will have to get a letter from Doc's but should be ok and at least it's a big island so should have reasonable care if anything does go wrong. And have found somewhere offering preggo travel insurance too - also have the european health card thing.

I never got piles but did get a particularly painful anal fissure after giving birth (TMI alert). Having a poo was "interesting" for several weeks and used to make me cry Blush

Nuchal scan tomorrow - scared and excited in equal measure. But is my magic 12 week mark on thursday - I know there are no guarantees as some ladies do have late losses sadly but will feel much better once that milestone has been passed.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 11/01/2011 15:00

Wow MrsStevo, congratulations!

Ironically, I came on to say hi and seek reassurance (again) for the fact that I'm 9+5 and still not a hint of a symptom. Still waiting for a scan date but tbh, am expecting to be told I've had a MMC. I really don't feel pg which is the polar opposite of my experience with dd.

Now I'm worried it's twins! :o

(tis Rockbird btw, temporary namechange)

KLou111 · 11/01/2011 15:33

Wow, twins MrsStevo, double congrats ad glad everything OK. I would LOVE twins!! But I am happy with the one for the minute!!

All my symptoms went too, so it is nice when they get you in early. The sono lady only saw one heartbeat, but she said it can be deceiving and we won't know 100% til the 12-14 week scan, so there may me more than 1 in there yet lol!

Congratulations MrsStevo that's great news! Grin

Cadmum · 11/01/2011 15:57

Wow! Great news MrsStevo. (I was not expecting a two for one as I was easily twice as ill when pregnant with twins.) I am very pleased for you. It must be a shock and a relief all in one. I have two close friends who went to term with twins so don't despair; it can be done.

I have a dating/viability scan tomorrow evening. I could have gone today but couldn't summon the courage. Thankfully dh will come with me to 'hand-hold'.

Teladi · 11/01/2011 16:05

Congrats MrsStevo!!

Good luck Cadmum with your scan.

neverlookback · 11/01/2011 16:05

Congratulations Mrs Stevo what a surprise for you!! wow twins the thought of that scares me to death but i already have 2 dc's to cope with so jumping to 4 would knock my socks off!!!

LittleBeaut · 11/01/2011 16:35

Blumming eck MrsStevo... that is lovely news, and if you werent expecting it I can imagine you are in shock!! (or were you expecting it and I missed a post with there being sooo many on here now??) xx

GwendolineMaryLacey/Rockbird I still have trouble believing I'm up the duff too and I had an early 6 weeks scan which showed nothing more than the heartbeat really. But I have always experienced really bad morning sickness in pregnancy yet this time... nothing!! I have my dating scan on the 21st so that should hopefully make it all very real eh?? x

spilttheteaagain · 11/01/2011 16:54

Wow congratulations MrsStevo!

CappuccinoCarrie · 11/01/2011 17:15

Ooooh Congratulations on the twins! Similar to others the thought of that being me is truly terrifying...but yet it seems very exciting too!

One of my friends is in labour right now....eeek! :)

lilacblossom · 11/01/2011 17:28

Congratulations MrsStevo - exciting news!

I don't know if I dare type this, but today is the first day in weeks that I haven't felt sick (though I have been worse in the evenings so I may have spoken too soon). I spent all afternoon snoozing and lying on the sofa with my DS - very self-indulgent but I think it's made me feel so much better. Or it could be that I'm 10 weeks today - I hope I'm over the worst. Hope everyone else with nausea is coping and it eases off soon...

Firawla · 11/01/2011 17:46

congrats mrs stevo! lovely news

Annie456 · 11/01/2011 18:32

Oooh congrats mrsstevo fabulous news!

Just got my 1st appointment letter through with Midwife and wondered what to expect? I'm told it's not a scan but not sure if it's something DH would come to or not? He has offered and I said it wasn't necessary but I'd hate for him to miss out if there's any chance of seeing anything...?

MrsVidic · 11/01/2011 18:34

i went to the gym today and then had the biggest craving for cheese on toast ever. This coming from a no bread person is very unnerving. However, i guess my body needs the calories. I feel so guilty now but need to snap out of the vain selfish mode and think about my baby. I have to admit i'm worried i'll balloon. I.ve just got to a size 10 from 12/14 doing slimming world but just can.t continue the diet.
