Glad your scan went well Lady, yes, you are a bigger fraud!! Ha ha :)

MrsStevo re preg journal, my DH bought me one for Chrimbo called The Pregnancy Journal. Yellow hardback book with mother and baby on the cover. Lovely book, but I will say it is quite Americanified (if that's a word!) But it is lovely to read day by day what is going on in there :) It has note pages and how you are feeling pages, also waist and weight measurement bits.
It is a lovely book and think was only about £8 off ebay or amazon.
Also got a free diary off Pampers with a few daily lines which I am filling in too.

Cadmum · 12/01/2011 12:06

Grrr! I always hate the gender questions. I had one of each to begin with so then people got clever about how we were having a 'spare'. My aunt gently reminded me that there are only two genders and that children are expensive... People are just nosey and strange. Sometimes I wonder if they are just trying to think of something to talk about?

I had a scan today. Everything went well. I am really and truly 10 weeks pregnant! Smile (I guess that explains the nausea and exhaustion, eh?)

Now to think about telling people...

davidtennantsmistress · 12/01/2011 12:31

WOW, excellent caddy sooo v pleased for you.

how are we all getting on? i'm 7 weeks today apparently (I think lol am not so good at counting the weeks this time around) can't stop burping whilst eating (nice!) and wished I stopped feeling sick, still 2 weeks for the bookin in midwife apt.

mrsstevo - WOW congratulations! twins how exciting.

I'm not really a fan of OBEM so ahven't watched it at all.

anyhow I promise promise will keep up with this thread (hopefully! lol) and get to know everyone else. :)

ref colour I'm actually scared of having a girl - given I have a boys boy I wouldn't know what to do with a girl. plus DSS is obv another boys boy lol.

MrsVidic · 12/01/2011 12:34

Thanks for all of the support re food etc, I'm feeling better today. LittleBeaut I doubt they will let me carry on with SW as I am iron deficiant and have a history of eating disorders which they monitor when I'm pregnant.

MrsStevo I know 2 friends who have had twin boys who went full term and they are really well behaved etc. I had the same pregnancy journal KLou mentioned and it was really nice to log everything.

Is anyone else getting headaches- I seem to have had one sice yesterday lunch time!

KLou111 · 12/01/2011 12:44

Great news on scan Cad glad everything went well.

Re gender, it's my first and have only told the GP's-to-be and our brothers so far.

MIL wants us to have a boy to carry on the name (it stops at us and DH bro and SIL have been trying for 3 years, nothing wrong with either of them apparently, so they've given up, if it happens, it happens).

My parents don't care whatever it is, it's their first grandchild, (as it is for the in-laws) they're just excited!!

Why can't people just butt out of your business??? I know someone who had 3 boys, yes she wanted a girl for the 3rd TBH, but he would have been an odd one if a girl. I am the youngest of 3, 2 older bro's and I was always left out!! I was spoilt though :)

SMummyS · 12/01/2011 12:53

This is my first, I have a step daughter who's 5 so I'm quite happy with blue or pink Grin

Anyone else worrying about finances once baby arrives? Our baby wasnt planned. DPs still out of work so we're living off my wage and tax credits, £250 a week in total :( oh and my credit card is getting run up at the min :(

I'm planning on getting most things second hand but I'm more concerned about when I go on SMP and it's left to DP to work :(

davidtennantsmistress · 12/01/2011 13:15

very smummy, I want to carry on working if I can but as we're right on the cusp (ie between £40-£45k combined) we won't have any help I don't think, and by the time we've paid child care & the cost of a second car we'd need there wouldn't be any point I don't think in working - but then again we can't survive on DP's wage alone. :( then again we're in a very lucky position compared to most I think. either way just hoping it all works out well.

CappuccinoCarrie · 12/01/2011 13:42

mrsvidic I had a killer headache too, a large glass of water and a lie-down really helped, but I eventually succumbed to some paracetamol. I'm guessing its really hard for you with a history of eating disorders, how do you feel about the fact that you'll get 'big' with a bump? As I understand it the 'eating for two' is only a few extra hundred calories a day, but you do need to ensure you eat all the iron and calcium that the baby will need. It is so hard because pregnancy does change your body shape, both during and after, and it can be a big thing to come to terms with. We're here if you want to talk about it some more :)

Congrats to everyone with their scans! Even the fraudulent people Wink

Teladi · 12/01/2011 14:02

I'm hoping one of you may be able to help me... I had an appointment to get the flu vaccination tomorrow but the surgery has called to cancel.

I am currently 8+2, and they say I have to be 13 weeks.

I was sure that women at all stages of pregnancy were being encouraged to attend but of course I can't actually find anything on the NHS website to back that up.

Did I imagine it?

Teladi · 12/01/2011 14:15

Thanks so much, SMummyS. I called and they repeated that again - I have asked one of the doctors to call me back. I feel like I am being a difficult customer now but I feel it is better to be certain :(

bettyboo83 · 12/01/2011 14:27

Teladi I had my Flu vaccine at 7 weeks, primarily because I'm a nurse and there are currently patients with swine flu at work. I had my booking appt at 8 weeks and the midwife was happy that I'd had it.

Congratulations on everyone's positive scans. I'm getting really nervous about mine. I keep having a recurring nightmare that they scan me and there is nothing there Sad It just seems so long ago that I did the HPTs (though I have kept one of the clear blue one's with a big positive on it Grin)

LittleBeaut · 12/01/2011 14:35

Can I ask a question please?? Last night my friend came over (on of the few that know I'm pregnant) and said "Ooooh do you have your pregnancy bounty and Emma's diary pack??" I said "No... I've not been given a slip or owt to get them." She said "You just go to a chemist and get them!!" Now am I being thick ladies because this dont sound right to me?? Can I get the pregnancy bounty and Emma's diary pack and if so how?? Thank y'all xx

dundeemarmalade · 12/01/2011 14:43

re. working etc. I've spent the past couple of years pretending to be a sociologist at our local provincial university. but social science departments may not even exist by the time i get off maternity leave, and my current contract ends in June so I've been thinking about what to do. Am already pretty broke and not very comfortable about depending on dh for everything. Am not actually not very good at it in career-building terms - there's so much game-playing and PR you have to do, and far too much feeling guilty about not spending every evening/weekend writing papers...

but the immediate problem is am feeling sick as a pig - am spending most of my energy and time not barfing on a minute by minute basis. and I have to do a four-hour teaching session tomorrow. nobody at work knows, and very happy about telling everybody at only 9.5 but don't know how i'm going to manage in the morning! help!

dundeemarmalade · 12/01/2011 14:43

littlebeaut got my bounty pack at booking appt. but was even more rubbish than I remembered!

SMummyS · 12/01/2011 14:50

I second the bounty pack! It's my first and thought it would be good....

nickstermum · 12/01/2011 15:08

Wicked news cadmum

ladyg did a whoop for you on charters! Oh go on then,.... WHHOPPPPPPP again!

Teladi my gp surgery say teh guideliens are 12 weeks plus but epu told me NOW! MW told me 12 weeks too.

Annie456 · 12/01/2011 15:10

Anyone else literally stuffing their faces?? I'm 7 weeks today and can't satisfy my hunger...I even had to get up to eat weetabix twice in the night (and then again to pee an hour after each!)
I'm trying to eat healthily but had to run into Starbucks and grab a granola bar on the way in to work after nearly passing out on the tube and have had a combination of soup, bread, crisps, fruit (and smarties?!) since then - still starving!

LittleBeaut · 12/01/2011 15:29

I got nothing at my booking in appt except my notes (that I will get around to filling in!!) and some bumf a the back. Gone through that bumf and there is nothing there... hey ho. Thanks x

Teladi · 12/01/2011 16:10

Thanks everyone for your help earlier, one of the doctors from my practice called me and my appointment is back on. :) He was really nice so hopefully they do not think I am crazy PFB woman. Someone at my work got sent home today with bad flu-type symptoms so I am keen to get vaccinated.

MrsChemist · 12/01/2011 16:52

I'm wondering if I'll be offered the flu vaccine at the booking in appointment. AFAIK, my surgery still has stocks left. DS was meant to have his MMR a few days ago, but it's a live vaccine, and he can't have it until I'm past 13 weeks.

MrsVidic · 12/01/2011 17:18

dundeemarmalade regarding career and jobs, you can plan and plan but it will probably just work itself out. With my dd i was an armed police officer working for a national police force- I had to leave as they couldn't 'afford' to base me closer to home and in one place due to budget cuts. I then got into the career working with homeless/ drug dependant people on a part time basis. Since this career change I have been offered (an start on friday) a job which is more pay, fewer hours and a better pension. Whats more i love the job. My priorities totally changed when I had my dd- I really would try not to worry but try to spread the cost of buying things for the baby.

Oh yes and nursery is £35-45 per day and is not tax deductable. Its expensive but I have figured out I need to earn £70 per day to make it worth while to work- ie after tax, travel etc. However, its worth making the sacrifice to keep your career going and pension IMHO.

MrsVidic · 12/01/2011 17:19

Annie456 yes the hunger has began- I feel I physically NEED cheese!

MrsVidic · 12/01/2011 17:22

cappichinocarrie I coped pretty well last time but I'm more worried this time as i know how hard it will be to workout with 2 children- I'm thinking of investing in some weights for the house and moving to a double running buggy. I should be fine its just this period i hate, where I feel I'm getting fat for nothing as I could MC. Also the hormones don't help.

CappuccinoCarrie · 12/01/2011 17:34

Double running buggy - respect! I've got the phil&teds sport but the jogging wrist strap has only been used as something to make the children hold onto for crossing the road!
I'm sure life with 2 children will be enough of a workout on its own!!

Just snuggled my friend's baby - only 15 hours old. Sooooo gorgeous! We're having one (or two Grin) of those!
