Hodel · 26/11/2010 15:55

Thanks! I'm very excited. I always wanted 2 DCs, but we didn't rush after DD1. I was a bit worried being 38 but it happened much quicker than expected. Unfortunately this has thrown up a dilemma - currently posted on the Pregnancy thread!

Hersetta · 26/11/2010 16:16

Same with us to. I'm 40 now so thought it would take a while so feel very fortunate that this was only our 4th cycle.

Re your dilema - I would take the job. If they aren't happy that your pregnant further down the line and let you go, well you haven't really lost anything as you'll be back in the same position as you currently are.

Thanks for the advice! makes sense what you are saying. I'll just have to decide when to break the news I suppose. Singapore is as far away from family-friendly working as is possible, so I'm not looking forward to it.

Congratulations on your swift conception too btw! Makes things a lot less stressful.

RunDMC · 29/11/2010 10:41

hmm not feeling great this morning at all. pretty bad nausea that started when I went to bed last night (?) and continued when I got up this morning. Not actually been sick but retching and feels like there's a lump in my throat.. bleurgh..

kind of reassured by feeling rubbish so trying not to moan too much !!

Hodel · 30/11/2010 04:46

Poor you! I am dreading that phase. I had horrible nausea with dd and extreme exhaustion. I keep hoping this time will be different, but I seriously doubt it. One thing that helped last time were those anti-nausea accupressure wrist bands. if I wore them all day I didn't feel so bad. They sold them at Boots.

ddas · 30/11/2010 08:49

hodel I would accept job without saying anything as very plausible that at this stage u wouldn't know u were pregnant.

Booked my scan for the 20th dec which seems to be a popular date for everyone! Fingers crossed we all come home with good news-I just can't stop worrying! Don't know if it's because it's my first pg or does everyone feel like that? Until I see something real on a scan can't truely settle.

runDMC my nausea seems to come and go but on days present seems to be helped by eating small nibbles continuously.

August looks like it's going to be a quiet month on the labour wards-so few of us compared to July at moment!

Waverley82 · 30/11/2010 13:24

Afternoon ladies

This is my first post on MN and very shocked but delighted to find I'm pregnant! Just back from a belated honeymoon and it must have happened then, I thought I was six weeks today but just had an early scan due to some bleeding and they've said that as I ovulated late I'm only five weeks - think this must make me due on 2 August but not quite got to grips with the dates yet!

Very worried as so early and with the bleeding obviously - this is my first so really not that clued up yet!

Welcome waverly and congratulations.

Good luch with the scan on the 20th ddas. Don't worry, it's perfectly normal to be permenantly terrified with your first - I think everybody is.

I almost keep forwetting I am pregnant. On Saturday I got a flyer for a New Zealand Wine show in london in january. I actually put it in my handbag so I could show it to my friend to see if she wanted to go. it was only later that day I remembered I couldn't go beacuse I was pregnant !! Doh!

Checked in with my midwife this morning - don't have to go back till i am 16 weeks. Had to fill in the forms for hospital etc so I am now official!

Hiya, Can I join too please?? I've just done a test and the two red lines have come up. I am 36 and have a DS4!!! It's a shock, we only started trying a couple of weeks ago. I'm due 6/08/11.

Waverley82 · 01/12/2010 20:04

Hi ohanotherone and congratulations!

Ddas I am constantly worrying about everything as well, keep trying to tell myself that there is no reason in particular why anything should go wrong and millions of people are having healthy babies all the time but still convinced it will end badly! Think it's just as it my first... Trying to stay calm and positive!

ohanotherone · 02/12/2010 14:40

Don't worry Waverley, everything will be fine. I rang the midwives today, although ridiculously early and they have booked my scan for 20th January, how cool is that!!

challsworth · 02/12/2010 21:08

Another one joining the club here.
pg#1 EDD 07/08/11
DH very excited but worried about me cycling in the snow in case 'junior' takes a tumble!

challsworth · 02/12/2010 21:17

Ah - DH now doing the 'I'm the stag' dance. He never has been the best dancer!! Stopped the pill at the start of October so I think he was hoping for a bit more 'practice' before he hit the home run ;)

ohanotherone · 03/12/2010 08:12

Congratulations, What is the "stag dance", can you film him doing it and post it for us all to see please????

ImpatientCat · 03/12/2010 17:27

Hi all,
Got my BFP last Saturday, not seen the doctors yet, but various calendars puts me at 1st or 2nd of August.
To add some data to my stats: first pregnancy, I am 32 years old and live in London.

Very excited, very queasy, very very impatient.

Am at 6+5 and am dying to tell everyone, but trying hard to wait. Wont be able to last until week 12, a sober xmas is a dead giveaway for me, but am trying to save it as a xmas eve surprise for my family.

My and the boyfriend have planned an elaborate ruse involving a lot of Sainburys non-alcoholic red wine to keep the secret.

Anyone else got a keeping-this-massive-news-from-your-nearest-and-dearest-problem?

ImpatientCat · 03/12/2010 17:30

Oh, and the stats now would be:

RunDMC · 03/12/2010 17:48

Hi Cat and congratulations

yes struggling not to tell either although I caved and told a close friend the other day when she popped round unexpectedly as I was feeling my worst.

ooh I like your thinking re the non-alcoholic wine.. that could be a good ploy.

We are having an early scan on 21st Dec and if all OK will probably tell parents and some family at Christmas and then wait til 12 weeks to tell everyone else

coastgirl · 03/12/2010 18:08

Hi everyone, I've just got my third BFP and we actually believe this one, having forked out for the expensive digital variety! Bit of a shock seeing it so stark like that but very pleased Grin

Adjusting to life on Becks Blue (surprisingly nice) and decaff (not to bad) as we speak, and wondering how I am going to get away without drinking at the New Year's party we've been invited to...

Anyway, FF puts my EDD at 13/08/11 and this will be our first.

Georgimama · 04/12/2010 07:58

Please can I tentatively join? Did test yesterday and couldn't believe it when BFP came up. I am 5+3 and due on 3rd August. Have DS 3.9 years and have had 2 miscarriages since he was born, so to say I feel jittery is an understatement. Also I cannot remember four and a half years ago when I was last in the early stages of a successful pregnancy - my boobs feel quite sore (which they didn't during the last 2 very short pgs) and have stretchy type feelings in groin. Vaguely recall this being the case.

Apart from this baby being very much wanted the timing is completely perfect, as DS starts school in September and if this PG goes to term I will be on maternity leave through his whole first year.

Waverley82 · 04/12/2010 09:58

Welcome and big congratulations to everyone who's joined in the last few days!

So I'm symptom spotting like a crazy woman here - boobs have been quite sore, eczema is horrendous all of a sudden and in the last few days I've been feeling a bit sicky (not actually thrown up yet though). Is it weird that I quite like it?? Feeling sick somehow makes it seem a bit more real!

Coastgirl - we did three tests too before we believed it, seeing the word 'Pregnant' on an lcd screen somehow made it more official than the two lines!

ImpatientCat · 04/12/2010 10:00

Hi all,
Just realized I put down some wrong stats, I am 5+6 today. Been so eager for time to pass, I've been telling my boyfriend I am "in week 6", so managed to confuse myself, well done!
Come Monday I'll be "in week 7" so it's not only possible, but highly likely I'll be doing that again...

It's Saturday and I originally planned on going xmas shopping today. Have a lot of people to shop for (2 parents, 2 step parents, 3 sisters, 2 brothers-in-law, 2 nieces, 4 nephews, 1 boyfriend and a partridge in a pear tree), and become a little numb thinking of doing this while feeling ill.

It's not just smells that set me off either, I become quite uncomfortable and queasy by a lot of noise too, anyone else get that? I heard about the sense of smell being heightened, but not the hearing. Hmm

RunDMC : Yes we've got a similar schedule for telling, although we'll be telling some close friends on New Years Eve, as I cant find any non-alcoholic champagne for my DB to do the magic switch with, and if people are going to guess, I'd rather tell.

coastgirl : with you on Becks Blue, and annoyed at pubs who don't sell it. Went out last night and the pub did not have anything non-alcoholic at all, but on the up-side they thought I was a designated driver and decided then and there that all soft drinks were free for drivers. I drank for free all night and the bar staff started making up mocktails to pass as alcohol (lemonade and apple juice = cider, tonic and lime = g&t etc). Ended up being a lot of fun Xmas Grin.

Georgimama : If you dont mind me asking; how far were you gone when you MC'd? Fingers crossed for you and all of us! Smile

Georgimama · 04/12/2010 10:09

Hi everyone else! Very early both times: 5 weeks something and 6+4. I stupidly did another test this morning which has infintisimally paler than last night's and am now trying not to panic. Stupid, really.

We're not telling DS or anyone else until at least 15 weeks, I've decided. He's forgotten about it now but the last time I told him, idiot that I was (he was only 2 poor darling) and kept going on about where the baby in my tummy had gone. In the end I told him I had made a mistake about it and people sometimes get these things wrong, he was so upset Sad.
