We have now reached 2000 posts so need to start another thread.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
sasamaxx · 19/11/2010 09:58

rubberduckies - I did think that the other day, but I don't think I've been sick enough and the only twins in my family are my mum's twin brothers but they are identical which doesn't run in families.

You are so right about the marathon - need to build up some stamina for that Grin - hopefully your ms will ease as the day goes on.

I have to say I'm quite pleased with the revelation that Jason Orange isn't gay Grin

MoogHasNoBrain · 19/11/2010 10:38

Wow how exciting ? congratulations Clarkie. Did you have suspicions then?

I told my DD (6) about the baby this week as she had virtually guessed anyway from overhearing conversations etc. She is so so excitied and desperate to have a sister. I am hoping she won't tell everybody at school etc but she is a real chatterbox so I suspect everyone will know by the end of the day Wink

neenewps · 19/11/2010 11:02

clarkie what absolute wonderful news from you. How exciting... it blows my mind thinking of just one little bean growing inside me but TWO... procreation is truly amazing.

My DH has twins in his family but as I haven't had much ms and still no bump (I'm 8+6) I'm thinking we won't see two beans on the scan in 3 weeks.

Hi to everyone else. Sorry I can't reply to everyone individually.

nurse - glad you are ok and that your xp has agreed to come with you to the scan.

takethatlady · 19/11/2010 11:28

Phew! Clarkie's got the twins Grin. And maybe sasamaxx. I'm guessing that ms symptoms are so different mother to mother that you don't need to have it really badly if you've got twins. And I rather think your argument that non-identical twins don't run in families makes it more rather than less likely - they just pop up anywhere, and you could be the one lol!

Congrats clarkie that's lovely news.

My midwife came today. She was nice. She has a son doing politics at uni and she seemed slightly put out that he had cancelled his subscription to the Tories though Grin

Bloods on Wednesday, scan on Thursday. I will feel so relieved when the scan is over if it goes well. The first few weeks are just limbo, aren't they?!

Right, off on a weekend of pretend drinking now. Let's see how far I get ...

takethatlady · 19/11/2010 11:33

PS - my mw asked if it was my first pregnancy and I said I'd had a cp. She looked bemused and said 'cp?' Not sure if she's not supposed to acknowledge that as a medical term, because my doctor was weird when I used the term too and corrected me to 'early miscarriage'. Maybe she wanted to ascertain what exactly I understood by it.

Is cp just a google term?

BarbieLovesKen · 19/11/2010 13:08

Yarnie I really am so sorry. Sad

Clarkiee identical twins?? Oh my God!!! how exciting!! the odds are so slim!. You feeling ok?

Moomin was it yellowtomato who was to go back to confirm 2nd sac? Sad

NurseSun how are you feeling today? how do you feel about xp going to scan? I was actually thinking the same as someone else said here, is there any chance you could move back home for a bit? I know from the night your mum drove up with the money that they are quite a bit away but is it an option at all?

Am glad someone asked who Jason Orange was - cos I had no idea Blush

So, no scan date yet!! [grr], am 13 weeks tomorrow. Feeling very pregnant but really panicing because of all the reports of no heartbeat at 12 week scan on here Sad.

Work still a nightmare. Was the same when pregnant with ds, very selfish, I know (but am genuinely ill at the minute) am going to stay off for as long as possible as I just am not able/ dont want another awful experience and to be bullied for being pregnant. This may be my last baby and I want to try enjoy the pregnancy.

DH is off today, we're just waiting for dd to finish school at 2 and then the four of us are going out for a nice leisurely lunch and a wander about.

Oooh Petitech thats nothing!! Grin despite hyperemisis, I am piling on the weight - which up until recently, I just dont understand. I was eating alot but vomiting approx 5 times a day, now the vomiting has eased off almost completely but have constant nausea and the only time I dont feel ill is when Im actually chewing. Therefore Im basically eating round the clock. Im about 12lbs up!! Shock Shock!! this happens each time with me, I put on about 5 stone each pregnancy Shock, I always do manage to loose it (well as ds is 9 months, had a stone left from him) but its a pain in the bum.

Hope everyone is well

misshoohaa · 19/11/2010 13:42

Hi barbie how frustrating for you. Have you had your booking appointment? Did u opt for the nuchal fold test? If so surely they need to crack on as I thought you had to have it b4 14 weeks?

I too haven't got an nhs scab but I don't want the nuchalscan done, so my midwife did say it might not happen. Luckily there's a place near me that does them for only 55 pounds so we've booked one for Wednesday, 12 weeks exactly! Can't wait!

On iPhone so sozzles for typos!

Mummynumber2 · 19/11/2010 16:13

Congratulations on the twins clarkiee!

Has anyone else had strange comments about being pregnant? Saw a guy I don't know very well but have bumped into several times in a work capacity today and I told him I'm pregnant (I'm not keeping it a secret). His comment was 'well that's your body fucked up then, I'm not sure why someone young like you would want to do that to yourself'.

My reply was that I'm not actually that young (I'm 32 ffs!) and people can have problems getting pregnant if they leave it too late.

To which he went on to tell me his views on 'selfish' people having ivf on the nhs at everyone elses expense!

He had no way of knowing I had ivf but it just made me soooo angry. I'm feeling very sad at the moment as I know that's quite a common view and I suppose I'll have to cope with comments like that for ever more.

Anyway, DP thinks it's good I'm worrying about something new as it means that I feel more secure that this baby is here to stay, so not worrying about that!

Have a good weekend everyone. Grin

MoogHasNoBrain · 19/11/2010 16:18

Mummy that guy has a warped view of the world... I've never heard negatove comments amount people doing ivf on the NHS and I don't think that's a common perception. try to ignore his silly comments if you can :)

is anyone else feeling thirsty all the time btw?

Mummynumber2 · 19/11/2010 16:20

Oh and I didn't realise I was a take that fan until I saw them by chance at the Diana Memorial concert. I don't think I've ever been so excited in my live! The lady next to me, a complete stranger who was there with husband and childern shared in this and somehow we ended up jupming up and down together, holding hands and screaming like teenagers! Needless to say her children were wanting to be swallowed up by their seats, as was my DP I expect!

Mummynumber2 · 19/11/2010 16:22

Sorry xposts. Thanks moog. There are some strange people in the works aren't there! The weirdest thing is this guy has 2 children and as far as I know is happily married. Not sure how if is view is that having children fucks up a womens body!

And yes, I'm really thirsty!

Mummynumber2 · 19/11/2010 16:23

Sorry, curse of the iphone. Strange people in the world, not works!

stargirl30 · 19/11/2010 16:31

Hello ladies,
I have no hope of keeping up with you chatty lot :)
SO I'm just popping in to say hello! I had my scan and everything is fine, baby in there looking v annoyed at being woken up by the sonographer.....
I'm 12 + 5 now and starting to feel a lot better so those of you feeling rubbish, hang on in there, not long to go now.
I will admit to not having read all posts so I hope there has not been too much bad news this week. Hugs to those who need it.
Stargirl x

KaraStarbuckThrace · 19/11/2010 17:08

Lovely news stargirl!!

Sassamax - so it is still looking like it could be twins, that would explain measuring bigger and the extreme tiredness.

I think I am eating less as at lot of the time I feel sick, and or don't have much appetite. Do feel very tired at times.

Mummynumber2 - that bloke sounds like a twat.

I just figured it is supposed to be a pombear!!! Bear

8rubberduckies · 19/11/2010 17:15

Hurray for Stargirl! We like good news!

Mummy a guy I know asked me, when I was pg with dc1, if I was going to breastfeed. When I said yes he looked really shocked, and asked me why wasn't I concerned about my breasts and nipples changing shape? Glad I'm not his girlfriend. Tool. Biscuit

sasamaxx · 19/11/2010 18:37

takethatlady lol - I know - it wasn't much of an argument from me was it? lol.

barbie - don't you dare feel guilty about work - you are ill and deserve to be in bed looking after yourself Smile

mummynumber2 - what an absolute idiot - how DARE he? Shock. It's wonderful that the NHS provide this service. My sister is hoping to have IVF shortly but unfortunately the NHS won't pay as her DH (she's also a stepmum) has had a vasectomy and the reversal didn't work. So they do have limits - it's not as if they randomly fund IVF for anyone who fancies it, regardless of their circumstances. They are very strict and that stupid man should just shut up and mind his own business [sngry]

moog I am crazy thirsty today and nothing but full sugar coke and diluting orange will hit the spot.

kara who knows - could be - but there's probably absolutely no reason for feeling movements so early and having a high uterus - probably just one of those unexplainable things. Och well - will find out a week on Tuesday for sure Smile

rubberduckies - what an idiot - do these people think that all we care about it our bodies' appearance? What a chauvinistic attitude. Angry

knackered76 · 19/11/2010 18:50

Just to quickly wade in before sorting the mini ones out -

Stargirl - hooray on your scan, lovely news and glad you're feeling better as well :)

mummy2 - Pregnancy ruins your body, he sounds delightful! What a lovely husband he must be if his other half has had 2 Hmm! The fact is pregnancy can ruin your body if you don't take care of it . . . . as can eating, drinking, smoking, lack of exercise, poor hygiene and a whole pile of other things. If anyone says that again the reply should be, really, what ruined yours then?

IVF not on the nhs, people don't really know what they are talking about when they make comments like that. Giving up smoking is on the nhs as is treating people for foolish accidents when drunk, etc, etc. I could go on but boring myself :) You get where I stand on your encounter though Grin

I wish you all a happy evening and a good weekend. Hope scan booked for tomorrow go well :)

milliemuffin · 19/11/2010 20:54

Moog - did your DD manage to keep it to herself or did she spill any beans?

takethatlady - cp is a new term on me? what does it stand for? (apologies if it's really obvious)

Seeing as this thread is nearly in the 900 messages is everyone ok with listing their EDD's and current DCs if you want to? We've done this on both my previous pregnancy ante-natal groups and every now and then the list gets updated (some unfortunately leave, some change dates after scans, some choose to not go on until they've had their 12 wk scan) but each new thread is started with the most recent list. Add as much or as little info as you like but most importantly your EDD's.

I'll start and for those who want to add to it please do so...

Milliemuffin - DC3 EDD 30/06 (DS3, DD1)

Please try and keep it in chronological order so those due on 1st june go at the top (so I do expect to be at the bottom of the list).
Everytime a person adds themselves just copy the relevant rows and paste into your comment field then slot yourself in.

motherofsnortpigs · 19/11/2010 21:01

Evening folks. Spent a pleasant afternoon being puked on by DS. I haven't been sicked on to for almost a year - I'd forgotten how warm it was!

Tomorrow is scan day. Kind of excited, kind of scared. The main stress tomorrow is the ballet show. DD1 is a bit weird (in a I'm-her-mother-I-can-say-that kind of way) and may or may not play ball. She is really excited. She showed me her dance again this afternoon and then she showed me the 'rabbits' dance, which she has only watched a few times. She likes their one better, so may well go on stage and do their dance instead. Or she might flip out and refuse to go on because someone tries to take her socks off her (all the other girls are dancing in ballet shoes with no socks, but o no not my one...)

Completely outraged by stupid comments people make when you are pregnant. I now have a policy of only telling people I really want to know or need to know. I was working for a charity last year and got fatter and fatter and no one said anything. I even went to a meeting wearing a t-shirt that said BABY in big pink letters on it and no one said anything (all so polite). In the end, when I had to explain I could no longer do the role because of DC3's imminent arrival, it came as a genuine surprise to some of them........I am in no way fat!!!

motherofsnortpigs · 19/11/2010 21:03

x-posted with Millie I'll add myself after the scan. I really have only a vague idea of when this baby is due....

sasamaxx · 19/11/2010 21:06

milliemuffinI'll add myself after the scan too if that's OK Smile

mrsbigw · 19/11/2010 21:11

Evenin' all!

Congratulations Clarkiee twinnies how adorable! I'm pretty sure it was you who mentioned twins before? Sorry if am getting mixed up...did you have a feeling? Thats lovely for you though!

What an awful man re the IVF, I bet it was a real chore for his wife making his 2 kids!

Glad everyone is OK. I am so thirsty all the time too but it is better now that I can have a proper drink instead of just sips as I am not feeling constantly sick these last few days its coming & going; big improvement & I hope it continues!

Hows everyones bump size these days? I feel huge but it is very high up and firm.

I am happy to add stats as I am now 12+1 :)
I don't think there is ever a time when you can feel 100% secure that your baby is safe when you are pregnant but am happy to put my name down now.

MrsBigW - DC4 EDD 01/06 (DS15, DS11, DS6)
Milliemuffin - DC3 EDD 30/06 (DS3, DD1)

Clarkiee · 19/11/2010 21:23

Thank you soooo much for all the lovely kind messages xxx (sorry I've not thanked everyone personally- I should have come on here a bit sooner).

Had the best day at work telling lots of people I was pregnant then shocking them again (in a variety of ways for my own amusement Smile) with the twins news.

Someone asked if twins run in the family- yes they do my grandad was an un-identical twin, my mum is an un-identical twin (with my auntie obviously) and my mums younger siblings (my aunty and uncle) are also un-identical twins. My DH has identical twin brothers. BUT identical twins are not genetic so all that twin history is irrelevant! When MW said it was twins I thought it would be un-identical type but no- Shock Bear Bear

p.s sasamax I have had no sickness! Felt slight queezy about half a dozen times. Watch out- ha ha!

Clarkiee · 19/11/2010 21:29

Thanks mrsbigw yes it was me that mentioned a slight possibility of twins (with my grandma having two sets people have said it to me over the years) but it was still a shocker Shock. When I told my mum she said she had a 'feeling' too Shock

Oh and big congratulations to all those people who have had good news xxx

mrsbigw · 19/11/2010 21:43

Think I had your twin sickness by proxy Clarkiee LOL
