Right then here goes.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
babyonboard · 19/09/2005 16:04

oooh..but i'm so jealous of your ice maker!
our chest freezer usually has two or three bags of ice in there..i'm addicted, especially whilst pregnant, no drink tastes the same without ten or so ice cubes in there..hehe...even in milk..am i crazy!?

kate7 · 19/09/2005 16:07

Hi, I'm new to mumsnet, due mid Nov, haven't had the best time of it so far as the 20 and 30 week scans and a follow up MRI have identified agenesis corpus callosum, which may or may not lead to serious learning difficulties and all sorts of other scary stuff. I'm off sick from work with the stress, feeling very scared and would welcome any advice from anyone who might know anything about this? Sorry to be so negative, hope I don't put you all off replying!

babyonboard · 19/09/2005 16:16

hi kate..and welcome!
I can't offer any advice on that, but rest assured this is a great place to share any concerns, or just general gripes.
I have found it very reassuring, not only in the bad times but just to share this experience with so many other lovely and open women.

novadandypowder · 19/09/2005 16:22

Hi Kate and welcome. Can you give us any more details of whats wrong with baby? We're always here for a bit of a grumble so feel free to share your thoughts and feelings with us.

Makes me spilling lucozade down my nice new white sweater seem very trivial.

novadandypowder · 19/09/2005 16:24

Where are you based Kate? Some of us are in London and have arranged to meet next week if you want some moral support/ yummy lunch ?

babyonboard · 19/09/2005 16:28

oh Nova..is it next week!? I'd forgotten about that..hope I can make it this time!
We are going out in the evening to a 21st party...themed fancy dress 'school disco' argh!
Would a 'pregnant schoolgirl' be just too trashy to pull off or should I use the bump as an excuse to wear my usual clothes?! hehehe

Busyalexsmummy · 19/09/2005 16:31

Hmm, googled it here

Seems complicated, have they given you any indication of how your baby may be affected? or is it one of those conditions that they cant tell the severity till after delivery?
Sorry, just intrested

feel free to come on here and moan/share your worries,we dont bite and some good advice/help can be found on here

novadandypowder · 19/09/2005 16:36

wow thanks for the link Busy, thats looks quite frightening. I can understand why you're stressed Kate .

novadandypowder · 19/09/2005 16:37

Bob, you should def. go for mini skirt, shirt tied up under boobs, and belly out on display

babyonboard · 19/09/2005 16:40

mwuhahahahahahaa
Dp reckons fishnets, miniskirt, and maternity blouse with tie..but i'd feel so silly..
especially as most of the people there will be sprightly looking things in killer heeels and wonderbras knocking back sambuca shots..hehe

novadandypowder · 19/09/2005 16:51

last time I went out (weekend before last) I wore a rubber mini dress and fish nets, although the killer heels were replaced with flat pumps. Yes, I felt silly but it gets you into the spirit of the event - and it sounds like your DP quite likes the idea

babyonboard · 19/09/2005 16:55

Nova..you are either much braver than me, or feeling thoroughly more sexy with pregnancy than i am!..
i should also mention, this is one of dp's uni friends so I barely know her, and certainly not her friends..so i may be a bit shy!hehehe
I still wear lots of my lovely dresses (the stretchy ones!..hehehe) but i am too lacking in confidence to wear some of my usual , more risky outfits...
maybe i'm just being silly..but i appreciate the encouragement! hehe..
at least I'll stand out amongst the crowd i guess!

goldenoldie · 19/09/2005 17:19

Welcome Kate - so sorry you have had such a hard time of it. Was this first diagnosed at 20 weeks?

Baby - agree with Nova - go for the teenage mum look!

ChaCha · 19/09/2005 17:35

Went for the blood test that i've been putting off all week this afternoon. 3 samples taken. Was very traumatic - sympathy will be accepted in any shape or form or are you all just ignoring me today?

KristinaM - How are you doing? Meant to say back has been okay over the weekend (thanks for remembering) but was replaced with killer heartburn. You can't win. What about you?

BoB - Do you remember Neneh Cherry? Or is that way before your time?

babyonboard · 19/09/2005 17:45

oooh chacha..it's always something!I hate blood tests too.. i think i got it from my mum that they find it impossible to find a vein and when they do it really hurts...
stil very unconfident about the schoolgirl thing..might have to dig out some stuff and try on an ensemble..just to see..hehehe
DP is taking me on a date tonight..hehe..cinema and dinner, shoulb be fun..!
Take care all!..

Enthusia · 19/09/2005 17:48

Hiya

Welcome Kate - again I can't offer any particular advice but you are welcome to moan, gripe whatever makes you feel better!

NOt feeling so grumpy now, got quite a lot done today actually! Am off for another shopping trip tomorro, Southend this time, should be good, must remember not to do too much walking though!

On the topic of nursing bras that someone mentioned I have been advised to get fitted at 36 weeks for them.

LilJ - It sounds as if your work problems may have the chance to turn into a positive situation for you. You may get full pay for one year, the time to decide what you really want to do next and the chnace to ease off a bit now. It is just a pity it is accompanied by all the stress! I hope it does work out well, keep us posted.

ChaCha - sympathy coming your way - wrapped in a hug with a chocolate centre!

Right must put shopping away

Byyyeeee

Enthusia · 19/09/2005 17:49

Oh and BoB - could you go for a teacher type look? Could be just as sexy - glasses etc, but you might be able to cover up a bit more!!!!

OP posts:
babyonboard · 19/09/2005 17:53

ha ha..enthusia..you could be onto a winner..I could get a tweed two piece from a charity shop and tailor it slightly to not be too frumpy..
then maybe take a cane along..hahahahaha

rodeo1 · 19/09/2005 22:09

Where are you all this evening?

Dp watching American Chopper - yawn, so thought i's have a chat but you're all awol!

Kate, you're very welcome on here Sorry you've having such a rough time, can't imagine what you and your family must be going through. Is this your first baby? Our Nov stats are on here somewhere if you want to catch up. Maybe you could start a thread in the pregnancy section or in the Special Needs section? There are loads of helpful and v.knowledgeable people on here, there must be someone with support and advice for you.

Chacha, well done on you're blood tests girl!

Teacher looks sounds good Bob!!

Ooh my carseat came today today, it's lovely and velvety, not sure how long it will stay like that, the cat's already tested it out as a possible bed for when she can get away with it, the tart! I'm going to be forever shooing her away from it! It's back it the cellophane for now!

Right, I'm off to scoff some cheese and crackers before bed, night x x x

twinkle1 · 20/09/2005 09:36

morning all,
well im off to the mw at 10am think she wants to take blood again, ah well
Kate7 Im no expert on ACC but as i understand it many children lead normal lives.Do you know if you are having a girl or a boy? At least the acc is diagnosed so if there are any seizures they can be treated swiftly.
Weather here is nice today so might get some washing done joy!!
right off to the midwife

BEKsmum · 20/09/2005 09:40

Morning girls, welcome aboard Kate, sorry to hear that you are having such a rough time with your pregnancy, it must be a terrible worry, feel free to unburden here, that's what we're here for.

Rodeo, not long now lady, have they given you a date for your section yet?

LilJ glad to hear you've got some form of resolution to your work problems, you make sure you get everything you can get out of them, then turn your back and know you're better off out of there and that there are much better jobs out there for when you decide to go back.

Had a nesting day yesterday and cleaned my hall and front lounge from top to bottom, have a thing about washing down all the paintwork in the house at the moment - must be the hormones!!!

Haven't been up to much lately, feeling pretty ok at present although my hips are killing me and I often find it difficult to walk when I first stand up which is very bizarre!

Taking Ben to microsports this afternoon, which provides me with an excuse for a snooze in the car for half hour or so - always welcome!

Hope you have fun at the fancy dress party Bob, the teacher look sounds good to me, although Chacha you're showing your age remembering Neneh Cherry!

Nova, how did you get in and out of a rubber dress or shouldn't I ask?

Right hope you're all doing ok and I'll catch up with you soon. Beks (32+2)

rodeo1 · 20/09/2005 10:28

No I've not got long Beks, around 3 weeks I think! I'll get a date when I go to the hospital next Tues!

I've got Joe's little friend over this lunchtime and I'm taking them both to toddler's this afternoon. Should be an interesting time, they're favourite game is wrestling at the moment. They're so boisterous when they get together!

Didn't get round to sorting baby clothes yesterday, thinking about attempting to do it now. Or maybe I'll just do a few Sudoku first with another cup of tea!

Have a nice day girls!

33+4 x x x

goldenoldie · 20/09/2005 10:44

Rodeo - You must be first on the Nov list up to have bubs?

ChaCha · 20/09/2005 11:04

Oooooh Rodeo - 3 weeks! Wow I'm excited!

Beks - Feel free to pass some nesting instinct my way! I'm doing what I can but I get tired sooo quickly..yawn! Yeah, showing my age alright, I take it you remember her too then

Enthusia - Hope you are having a great day out and not driving around!!!

Twinkle - Hope everything is well with your m/w appt. I don't see mine again until 33wks.

Busyalexsmummy · 20/09/2005 11:14

rodeo-you lucky thing, you must be getting very excited, so that means baby will be here mid oct then?

beks-hmm, i seem to be nesting too, im constantly cleaning/sorting etc at the moment!and im also cleaning down all the paintwork/skirting/doorframes etc! weird!

Had a bizarre night last night, couldnt stop crying??? I really want to move at the moment as Im sick of living here and sick of not having any friends close by, to go and see any of my friends costs £7 on the bus, which is fine but cant afford to do it more than once a week.

Also sick of alot of dp's mates, I dont trust them, they dont have children and always lie to me eg when i ring up to find out where dp is, they say hes not with them when he is etc etc

Am getting lots of ebay parcels through the post at the mo, which is all very exciting, today I had 2 little outfits from mothercare, 2 cute tops and those cute little leggings with feet, theyre gorgeous and look brand new, only £3! thought id make an effort this time around as last time we thought everyone would buy newborn stuff so we didnt bother-as it was they all ended up getting 3-6months, so ds had a bulging wardrobe for then, but ended up wearing some 2nd hand babygrows we'd been given for the first few months!

Feel knackered this morning as ds decided to wake up at 5.45am I went in, got him up,put Cbeebees on, made him a drink and went back to sleep till 7am!bad mummy I am!
Im hoping this waking early thing is just because hes ill, otherwise im not going to cope!
