ssssssssooooooooooooooooooo tired this morning. Couldn't get to sleep as had acidy throat, so had some milk which seemed to do the ttrick but by the time I got to bed DH was snoring away. I went to the spare room but then realised I hadn't put clean sheets on the bed, but decided to just sleep under the duvet that was on there as couldn't be doing with making a bed in the early hours of the morning. Had very disturbed night and then somehow the cats had twigged I was in a different room this morning so woke me up for their brekkie. DH has grumpy wife from hell today - I suppose he'd better get used to it though!

Enthusia, your post actually gave me a boost this morning though, it's good to hear something so positive.

Had a delicious sunday lunch yesterday, and we've booked into the same place for lunch next weekend - yummy

Hopefully I'll feel more alive after I drag myself into the shower

sam 33+ something, brain not working at the moment

yingers74 · 19/09/2005 10:37

oh have not been on this thread for a while, glad to see everyone is good.

Busy - wow, u are really doing your research and i thought I was organised by ordering a tens machine this time. with first one, just went in and hoped for the best! I could not really do gas and air, it made me feel too dizzy.

pink - packed bag already, am impressed! Have been thinking about it for a while but so far no action. This morning opted to kill weeds instead!

Is anyone else being driven insane by braxton hicks, they are so uncomfortable, but will not complain too much as it means am nearly at the end!

Am 33 and 4 days today, had first dd at 38 weeks so fingers crossed!

pinkminx79 · 19/09/2005 11:06

i was excited cos my friend was going on holiday so i wanted to pack as well!! hehe brought the stuff i needed then got really lazy, but with this cold PLUS i slipped in the kitchen holding a sharp knife, ended up ungracefully doing the splits! I just lay on the floor! I realised then, that clumsy me feeling like i've been in the wars needed to get my hospital bag ready ASAP LMAO!!
i need bread, but dont want to go out, i'll have to send dp out when he gets back from work
xx

novadandypowder · 19/09/2005 11:53

Yes yingers becoming very aware of Braxton Hicks now, uncomfortable but not painful.

My bag is packed too, wishing time would go a bit quicker...

Pinkminx, I nearly dropped a sharp knife on my cat last night, was kind of the cats fault as he was scrounging for food, but had horrible visions of an emergency vet visit..

Tried shaving my legs today which is not a wise idea when you're:
a) tired
b) pregnant
c) in a bad mood
ended up shredding my ankles. I'm finding it harder to bend over now, have to find inventive ways of putting on shoes and socks.

pinkminx79 · 19/09/2005 12:20

putting on socks and shoes...yeah thats a toughy! Not very graceful is it? trying to do it sideways or other unusual angles hehe!!

Hope the kitty is OK

Nova - Know what you mean about tired and grumpy!!!!!! Went to Drs, came back and have just slept since - now feeling really grumpy, am hoping lunch will help!!!

Really should pack my hospital bag and order my Tens, have all hospital goodies in one place and keep adding to them, but have not sorted them into bags yet.

Drs was good. BP was great as usual, bubs has moved as we thought, but luckily it is not from a head down position, he has just shifted sides, so is now kicking to my left, gives my right side a rest though! I have put on 1 stone 3 pounds since the beginning, which I thought was good, but this does put me well over any weight I have been before - and nowhere near 12 stone - I wish. Dr jokingly replied I would have to lose it all afterwards - well I wasn't expecting to keep it there was I? I do find weight a funny thing though, I weigh a lot - always have - yet I fit into smaller clothes than some people who weigh less, I remember one doctor thinking there must be something wrong with his scales as I weighed a lot more than he thought I could have done.

Anyway, Doctor also said that there was nothing wrong with my fundal height, exactly as it should be and that I had a good sized baby! So that was good. She didn't seem very impressed by some of the things the midwife had told me actually.

Right off to get lunch.

Speak later.

Ps - hope you are feeling less grumpy soon Nova!

can you believe that there have been two babies from the oct. ladies already . I can't wait another 7 weeks feet i'm too excited!!!

The far too cute kitten has managed to ease my bad mood, the healing power of animals - lol.

ChaCha · 19/09/2005 12:39

Hello,

Hope that all of you who are suffering from colds get better soon! Look after yourselves and get plenty of rest if possible. I despise having the cold at the best of times so am in total sympathy with you all. Sending you hot drinks & convalescence food. {{cyber parcel}}

Tessasmum - Have a great holiday. Sounds like lots of fun.

Enthusia - The NCT class sounds like it was well worth sacrificing a Saturday for - am glad you shared all that went on. Very informative.

Nova - Hope you're feeling a bit better now.

Busy - I'm impressed at your having packed bottle of lucozade. That's good to be top organisation skills there! Have just realised that i'm going to need a lot more than my samsonite weekend bag -think i will have to pack a small suitcase too.

Dreamt of baby last night, but in my dream i'd just given birth and kept asking them what had happened as i couldn't remember. m/w said they'd had to use forceps and that I wouldn't remember because i'd fallen asleep! Baby also had the ability of changing into a very weird insect that a dog (i don't have a dog) tried to eat - has to be the weirdest dream yet.

I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed at the moment, tired, moody and not myself. In a nutshell, have that 'I want to be alone' feeling.
Going to tidy up downstairs and park myself on sofa with hot drinks and plenty of books. Hopefully will feel better later.

Sorry if i missed anyone out. Took ages to catch up.

Bye for now. 30+2

pinkminx79 · 19/09/2005 12:44

i'm really excited too! I told dp that i had a feeling she would be here early, he said, 'well if you think like thats its gonna happen' but i explained it was intuition. I cant believe 2 of the oct ladies have dropped, are they really early? I dont think i can wait another 7weeks, but there are lots or reasons why i do want her to stay put! (ie, work, her due date is very close to my late dads b-day, dp getting time off work etc etc)

novadandypowder · 19/09/2005 12:50

One oct. baby was born at 34+3 and the other at 37 (although she was due to have a c/section at 38 anyway).

I just want to get on with being a family now . Looking forward to growth scan in a couple of weeks so at least I get to see baby again soon.

pinkminx79 · 19/09/2005 12:58

is that a routine scan or one needed/requested?

xx

novadandypowder · 19/09/2005 13:09

routine - they do one at around 36wks to check growth, weight, and position. Also have to get another set of bloods done, get screened for strep B, and meet the consultants who'll be covering on EDD.

pinkminx79 · 19/09/2005 13:16

ooooh, thanks, i thought i didn't think i was going to get another scan unless there were any problems.

xx

I get scanned every two weeks now - but that's because there are two!

pinkminx79 · 19/09/2005 13:49

to be honest i'd like another scan at some point in the near future, its been so long and it may make the next 7weeks more bearable!!

xx

SharonTW1 · 19/09/2005 13:55

Hi Ladies, been feeling pretty grumpy myself so haven't wanted to depress anyone else.
Found out my dog had fleas for the first time ever - not impressed at all ! Had a busy weekend de-fleaing the entire house. Bad enough with black hairs everywhere already !
Everyone is driving me mad lately my boss is in here now talking about nothing at all, he's obviously bored, really doing my head in, how do you tell your boss to get off his fat arse and do something wthout getting sacked ???
Sharon 31+3

SharonTW1 · 19/09/2005 13:56

think another scan would be nice too but don't want to know the sex so staying clear I think - he's still here !!!!

pinkminx79 · 19/09/2005 14:03

actually, i'd like them to have another look at the sex...70% sure its a girl hmmmmmmm and i have loads of cute pink stuff that people have brought, dont need the hassle of taking it back, plus i'd feel guilty for calling him 'her' throughout LOL!!

babyonboard · 19/09/2005 14:21

Oh dear..I didn't come on all weekend and most of you seem to have fallen ill, or turned super grumpy..!
hope you are all feeling better!
enthusia..you aren't having much luck with cars lately are you!
I still haven't sorted my hospital bag..you are all making me feel very disorganized!
I have one, and i've got nighties, asda pants and toiltries in there, but the rest of the things i need to buy..it's unlike me to put off a shopping trip but i just haven't gotten around to it!
I've been panicking about the baby arriving early too...we are so not prepared! Have decided to delay our move until after the baby is born, but we still have so much to buy and do..
There was a baby on 'city hospital' this morning born at 32 weeks, and perfectly healthy..quite surprising.
I am worried as my mums last two were born 7 weeks early..not sure if this kind of thing is heriditary!?
Had a very stressful weekend with mil...we got into some quite intense discussions about various things which ended in dp getting overly gnarly and her leaving in tears..oh dear! he'll have to call and make amends..
Not sure if it's the stress (or maybe a psychological embodiment of my early labour fears..hehe!)but i'm getting some strange stomach pains..can't wait to speak to my midwife and get some reassurance.

novadandypowder · 19/09/2005 14:43

i think it gets harder to tell the sex when it's later - not much room in there. I'd be so disapppointed to find out the sex now I've waited this long, not knowing is just adding to the excitement.

Bob, i was wondering if it's hereditary too - my mum was late with me and my sister and I wonder if thats going to be the case with me too. Hope not

Sharon, come on here and join in the grumps . The joys of being a pet owner. We don't have fleas, but the kitten has thread worm so I've been over-doing it on the sterile wipes and disposable gloves this week. Apparently cats and dogs are born with them . She's been taking some medication for them but it gives her really toxic poo - nice! Have to clean her litter box at least 3 times a day. And before you panic I KNOW the risks.

Have to take another cat to the vet at some point for yet another infected wound. I'm sure this is great preparation for having children - lol.

LilJ · 19/09/2005 14:49

Gosh a lot of posts since I was last on here - took more than my usual lunch hour to read through them all!

My big news is that I did get screwed at work and was passed over for promotion and basically have been demoted. Happened last Thursday and my boss claimed that I'd got it all wrong and that I was taking it all the wrong way. But funnily my solicitor doesn't seem to think that way at all! I'm filing a grievance against my boss and the company this week and hopefully will be able to agree a settlement before I go on maternity leave on 27th October.

It's actually a bit of a relief because now I know and can move on. Even if I have to wait to take it to tribunal 9 months from now I know that I won't be returning and can start thinking about what I want to do when I'm ready to return to work. The lawyer seems to think I can get a year's pay out of them which will give me plenty of time with the baby and to look for new job. In meantime I'm going to tak it very easy at work and do the bare minimum.

On a happier note my new kitchen is being installed today! Yippee!!! I should have a fully functioning kitchen by the end of next week and even my DH is secretly excited by the prospect of a proper American-style fridge-freezer with ice dispenser et al. It's been a bit of a nightmare, but I can't wait to start cooking again!

Went to John Lewis on Friday (called in sick) to see about nursing bras and they said I should wait until I'm 36 weeks to get fitted - I do hope they don't get too much bigger as I'm all sagging breasts and bump nowadays.

Anyway should probably get back to work. Looking forward to next meet up.

J

babyonboard · 19/09/2005 15:33

lilJ thats awful! make sure you persist with this..glad you are seeing the positives though!
Nova..i'm so jealous..even though your kitties are causing you trouble..i so miss mine who were adopted by my mum when we moved to London..
To add to all this labour talk, just heard from an old school friend who had her first healthy baby boy yesterday..she had planned a totally 'passive birth' hehe, but the epidural only worked on one side, and then he came out with his hands on his head weighing 10pounds 7oz...argh..
she's forgotten the pain already though..and is delighted with her new son. hooray!

pinkminx79 · 19/09/2005 15:49

lilj hope everything gets sorted, looks like good news from all that hassle at work!
I ordered some nursing bras from boots yest...doesn't seem my boobs have got much bigger, that was one side effect i was looking forward too LOL!!

oh my god, i feel soooo sore!!!

xxx

goldenoldie · 19/09/2005 15:52

Sharon - can you tell boss it's his turn to make the tea - that will get rid of him for 5 mins!

Scottishmum - are you coming to our meet on 30 Sept?

Enthusia - your brain shrinks when you are pregnant - scientific fact! Maybe you should give up driving for a bit?

LilJ - shocked at how you have been treated at work. You are better off out of there.

American fridge-freezer/ice-dispencer fab. It's a bit like having a dishwasher for the first time - you wonder how you ever managed without it! My only gripe is that the ice-maker takes up a good chunk of the freezer, reducing the amount of freezer space. We ended up buying a small stand alone freezer, in addition to the hulking American thing.
