Hi pinkminx, I'm due 7 November and will probably have the C-section on the 3rd. That's my plan anyway, will have to see what the consultant says.

The portrait session was awesome. I do wish I had done the same with DS now. I just hope the prints live up to how gorgeous I felt.

pinkminx79 · 24/09/2005 19:50

i'm a bit paranoid about flabby arms LOL but i'm sure they can airbrush hehe!! it would be cool to get a black and white pic of bump and my tattoos (priorities LOL)

are they expecting bubba sooner than the 3rd then if the heads engaged?

goldenoldie · 24/09/2005 20:13

ChaCha - I'm on iron tabs - made all the difference, less tired, less breathlessness too.

Tex - I'm avoiding all photos - my face is very round, like the rest of me, not a sight I want to remember!

pinkminx79 · 24/09/2005 20:19

hehe then no, i dont have a code then oops!!

babyonboard · 24/09/2005 20:31

Just a quick question as dp is hassling me to watch a film...when should we start the rasberry leaf tea?
I got some capsules today, but i'm guessing I should wait until closer to the edd.
Almost burst into tears in argos today after we queued for 20 minutes to find the smoothie maker we wanted was out of stock..oh dear!
Dp, rightly, thinks I am going mad..hehehe

pinkminx79 · 24/09/2005 22:34

Argos suck, we established this at the workshop i went to today,

xx

babyonboard · 24/09/2005 22:39

he he..they do indeed. but were too lazy to fgo further, as argods is an easy 10 minute walk away..hehe
I would order online but after we waited 4 months for bed sheets from them last year i'm not sure I'll bother..hehe
So annoying..our blender is broken and I am really missing strawberry and kiwi smoothies..drool...
Damn DP..he's watching the bloody Godfather for the thousandth time..can't bear to sit through it again so am running a nice bath and have a tub of cookie dough ben and jerry's waiting for me

pinkminx79 · 24/09/2005 22:43

i haven't actually seen it, but need to as last year i went to scicily and did a tour of some of the film locations..its was lovely!

have you checked online for other blender suppliers? john lewis?

xx

babyonboard · 24/09/2005 22:52

Oh and forgot to mention..we got a phonecall from MIL aplogising for her crazy wallpaper tearing , she said she thought we were decorating anyway, blah blah blha..not much help but at least she admitted she was in the wrong and she has offered to pay for whatever wallpaper we choose...sadly i'm just not rude enough to insist she comes and does all the work..hehehe

babyonboard · 24/09/2005 22:59

He he..good idea...
But if i order from John Lewis I'll be tempted to slip in a few gorgeous baby things i've put on my 'virtual window shopping want list'
So jealous, sicily must be amazing..we haven't been on holiday for so long...

pinkminx79 · 24/09/2005 23:09

yeah, my mum took me and my sister on our first holiday 'abroad' as a family (ever) a year after Dad died, Sicily was nice, as were all the other places (we went on a cruise) but we didnt get to spend much time in each country and all you see is mainly the port towns which are a bit grubby and run down unles you go on a coach trip somewhere!
The good thing about cruises is you get a taster of diff countries so you can plan a proper holiday in one LOL (yeah, when i ever get some money...)
Oh, it wasn't a big posh cruise liner either LOL just a budget family bit of fun

ChaCha · 25/09/2005 03:35

I suppose it's wishful thinking to think that just ONE of you might not be able to sleep like me Ohhhhh...

Baby is doing gymnastics and I just want to sleep! Yawn...

ChaCha · 25/09/2005 04:34

STILL can't sleep...am getting desperate here!! Am out for lunch at 12 at a friend's place and really don't want to miss it for being droppy eyed! Roll on sleep...Roll on sleep...

ChaCha · 25/09/2005 05:03

Sun will be out soon
Tum tee tum!

goldenoldie · 25/09/2005 08:42

Morning Chacha - did you manage to get back to sleep?

ChaCha · 25/09/2005 10:22

Hiya Golden

Think I slept at 6ish and slept straight for two hours, then tossed and turned until about an hour ago. Oh well, at least i don't feel that tired. Thanks for asking. I have started to despise 'night time'!!

BEKsmum · 25/09/2005 10:57

Morning girls, Tex nice to see you back, how's the move going etc?

I didn't know anything about the refresher classes, I'll have to go and find out about them now - not that I really got to them the first time round!!!

Am going to do a ward visit tomorrow night though, you can do them every monday at 7:30pm, but you can't take children with you. You don't have to book apparently, you can just turn up. Think that will be a bit of a reality check though don't you - eek!

Let me know when you get your cs date as my best mate is an anethestists assistant and is often on the mat ward & if you get to have her around you'll get a really calm & great experience as she is fantastic. She's from New Zealand and just the kindest & most friendly person you could ever meet.

Chacha, had I only known you were awake, we could have had a chat I was tossing & turning all night too, but thought no - I really can't go & log on they'll all think I'm mad!!! Enjoy your lunch we're off out with friends too today, thankfully the weather is good so the kids can play outside.

Has anyone else got ankles like a baby elephant, mine are driving me nuts and putting them up to get them to drain or doing the ankle exercises just makes me want to be sick - yuck

Hope you all have a great day, speak to you all later Beks (33wks)

novadandypowder · 25/09/2005 11:46

I'm with you on the elephant ankles Beksmum, also got plasticine feet too. Can only fit into two pairs of shoes now, although thankfully the weather is turning and I can slide into my baggy UGG boots from last winter.

Poor Chacha I got woken up by DH in the night hearing an alarm going off outside. I wear ear plugs so am oblivious to such things normally. Managed to get back to sleep though.

It's good for baby (and you) if you sit with your pelvis tilted forward. When I'm in an armchair I sit with my bum propped on one cushion, have 3 cushions behind me to push me forward and then have my v pillow around the side so i can rest my arms. Otherwise I'm laying on the sofa on my left side with v pillow, or laying on my belly bag. However any time i'm on the belly bag I always end up falling asleep!

Tex, good to hear from you and glad the photo session was fab. I still don't find my belly that attractive so don't think i'll do it. Even when doing the deed with DH I need to cover it up to try and pretend it's not there .

ChaCha · 25/09/2005 12:05

Hi ladies,

Too tired to go out for lunch now. I'm walking around the house like a zombie. Kind friend may bring me a delivery of what i'm missing later which is great!

Beks - See! You should have logged on! Would have happily had a conversation and some tea with a bunch of aliens had they decided to descend on us, in fact, would have welcomed them with open arms. I seem to sleep better when DH leaves for work, maybe I just need more space now.

Nova - Good advice on sitting position. Will try that.

I've packed a reasonable sized suitcase now for all the things that won't fit into the smaller bag (i.e dressing gown, clothes) and will put what i can along with baby's things in the smaller bag. Still have some shopping to do but am hoping to do that next week. How is everybody else coming along?

I need some advice too. I think i'm getting a bit OTT. MIL is great and I love her to bits. She called yesterday to say that she'd bought baby's nappies that should last for x amount of weeks. Instead of being grateful and happy I was a bit offish and complained to DH that I hadn't decided what nappies I wanted yet and our folks shouldn't assume! That's a bit OTT right? Afterall, she's trying to save us money and contribute...am i convincing myself here? Your thoughts?

pinkminx79 · 25/09/2005 12:36

yeah, i'm sure she means well, but your hormones are going be crazy as well, plus you want some of the things to yourself dont you?
Our parents have brought loads so we said we would buy the cot...a few days ago his mum called me and said 'what cot do you want?' i mean, of course it would save us money and i'm not gonna turn that down...but it does make you feel a bit out of control.

tex111 · 25/09/2005 12:42

pinkminx, they say that engaging is one of those very early signs that everything is literally headed in the right direction. From what I've read once the baby starts to engage labour usually starts 2-4 weeks later. That would be a bit early. I'm probably just getting my hopes up though because that really just applies to first babies. Second time around everything is so stretched out they have room to pop in and out. Ho hum.

As for the portrait, we did some pics of my whole upper body and face but we did quite a few with just the belly with DH's hands on it or with DS resting his head on the bump. Can't wait to see how they turn out. Will definitely post some if you guys are interested.

Nova, have to admit that I'm very impressed that you're still doing the deed! We did with DS but this time around I'm just too tired and there's less opportunity with a three year old running around. I remember I had to 'hide' the bump too. Not a great mood enhancer when the baby starts kicking right in the middle of it either!

Beks, I thought I would go to the first class and see if they're worthwhile. I'd like to meet some other moms and it'll be nice to have some time to really think about this pregnancy. It's so rare that I have a chance to let it all sink in. I'll definitely pass on my dates. A good anaesthetist makes all the difference! I had a great guy when I had DS and he kept me really calm and told me what was happening. So nice.

I've been very lucky and have so far been spared any swelling. Now that I've said that I'll probably blow up this afternoon! I didn't swell much with DS though so I'm hoping it'll be the same this time. I could even wear my ring until a week or so before my due date.

Chacha, I'm glad I'm not the only one getting my bags packed. I'm going to buy some dark PJs for the hospital this weekend and some new slippers. I remember someone recommending dark PJs when I was pregnant with DS and it was very good advice. There's so much leaking going on and it doesn't show as much on dark colours. As for your MIL, I think I would feel the same. Every little decision is so special, especially the first time around. Saying that, I would still take the nappies because you will need what feels like thousands of them and even if the brand your MIL bought isn't the one you choose it could still be good to have them for back up. This time around my MIL has learned not to buy anything without us choosing it. This was after she bought DS so many outfits that we disliked and he never wore. MY mother still does whatever she wants though so I guess it'll never be perfect.

Our move has stalled a little. Nothing serious, just a little hitch further down the chain. Looks like we won't be moving until 7 Oct now. That's just a month from my due date but I'm hoping nesting instinct will kick in and carry me through it all. Fingers crossed!
