Hi everyone
One of my New Year Resolutions is to post here more often! Still use my nov 09 forum from DS1 and the friendship and advice has been great so need to make more of an effort to get as much out of this forum. Will try to do better!
Had 20 week scan today and I'm having another boy! Delighted, 2 boys 18 months apart will be great friends I'm sure. A little disappointed it's not a girl but we do hope to have 3 so she might appear yet... DH couldn?t make the scan and also didn?t want to know the sex. The first few hours have been difficult as I?m bursting to tell him but hopefully he will get the surprise he wants.
MummyW Congratulations on the engagement! You?ll have to fill us all in with any wedding plans, although I suspect they might be on hold until after the baby arrives?! We got engaged when I was 36 weeks pregnant with DS1 and got married on 15th October last year so still newlywed. That reminds me actually, DH lost his wedding ring while scraping snow off the car one day so we?ll need to order a replacement! Men!
Qwerty I second the milkshake suggestions to help with heartburn. I couldn?t stand Gaviscon the last time so persevered with sleeping practically upright to avoid it waking me in the night.
Kiwigirl freecycle is worth a look for second hand baby gear.
cowboylover Sleeping on my side was an absolute nightmare in my first pregnancy. I had a spare duvet under the bedsheet which was a single layer at first, then folded in half on my side only, then folded in three! Was a bit like that fairy story the princess and the pea but I?m sure it helped. Getting to that stage this time around as well so think I?ll be looking out the spare duvet myself! I?m not planning on antenatal classes this time around, although I think they were good first time around. Especially in helping DH come to terms with the prospect of labour and an actual baby! I?m hoping for a tour of the hospital though, as the hospital I had DS1 in closed a month or two later so it?s all new to me.
Stripey Hope your DD is doing well and the family are coping ok.
In terms of essentials, I think someone a bit more experienced than me might help more, but for some reason I stocked up on vests with DS1 who was quite a sick baby and we were constantly changing the outer layer, so went through far more sleepsuits than vests. Can also sing the praises of muslin squares ? buy loads! Good for mopping up sick, covering up when breastfeeding etc etc.
Loopy Is it you who is our sling guru? What was the website you recommended? I suppose I?d better start making some arrangements, or this baby might be sleeping in a drawer when he comes home!
