Loopy: The essentials list would be great as there is just soo much!

I dont know when the classes are the Midwife just said there is a March and April batch so not a lot of use so I will have to make some phone calls.

Called the Docs and they cant see me til Friday and they will let me know the time as they are so busy clearing up all the colds over Christmas and New Year.

This is a really quick post...

Thank you everyone for all the congrats. We do plan to marry in Devon at the end of the year. But not sure yet because money will be tight what with LO on the way.

Congrats on positive scan news jinglebells

We had another scan today - everything is ok. It was a special doppler scan which shows the blood flow from me to baby etc. Next scan will be on 10 February at 28 weeks. Then another at 32 weeks and then the last at 36 weeks.

Have appointment with midwife on Monday.

Lastly just wanted to add a couple of things to the list of things YOU WILL NEED: plenty and I mean plenty of muslins - they have so many uses and sudocream. I wouldn't bother with baby clothes - sleepsuits are the best thing for baby and during the hotter months, just a onesie (vest) - if its really quite hot. I never bothered with a baby bath - I found the rack which is covered in towelling much easier as it leaves both your hands free.

I think that will do for now as this was mean't to be a quick post.

22+4 weeks Grin

Hi everyone

One of my New Year Resolutions is to post here more often! Still use my nov 09 forum from DS1 and the friendship and advice has been great so need to make more of an effort to get as much out of this forum. Will try to do better!

Had 20 week scan today and I'm having another boy! Delighted, 2 boys 18 months apart will be great friends I'm sure. A little disappointed it's not a girl but we do hope to have 3 so she might appear yet... DH couldn?t make the scan and also didn?t want to know the sex. The first few hours have been difficult as I?m bursting to tell him but hopefully he will get the surprise he wants.

MummyW Congratulations on the engagement! You?ll have to fill us all in with any wedding plans, although I suspect they might be on hold until after the baby arrives?! We got engaged when I was 36 weeks pregnant with DS1 and got married on 15th October last year so still newlywed. That reminds me actually, DH lost his wedding ring while scraping snow off the car one day so we?ll need to order a replacement! Men!

Qwerty I second the milkshake suggestions to help with heartburn. I couldn?t stand Gaviscon the last time so persevered with sleeping practically upright to avoid it waking me in the night.

Kiwigirl freecycle is worth a look for second hand baby gear.

cowboylover Sleeping on my side was an absolute nightmare in my first pregnancy. I had a spare duvet under the bedsheet which was a single layer at first, then folded in half on my side only, then folded in three! Was a bit like that fairy story the princess and the pea but I?m sure it helped. Getting to that stage this time around as well so think I?ll be looking out the spare duvet myself! I?m not planning on antenatal classes this time around, although I think they were good first time around. Especially in helping DH come to terms with the prospect of labour and an actual baby! I?m hoping for a tour of the hospital though, as the hospital I had DS1 in closed a month or two later so it?s all new to me.

Stripey Hope your DD is doing well and the family are coping ok.

In terms of essentials, I think someone a bit more experienced than me might help more, but for some reason I stocked up on vests with DS1 who was quite a sick baby and we were constantly changing the outer layer, so went through far more sleepsuits than vests. Can also sing the praises of muslin squares ? buy loads! Good for mopping up sick, covering up when breastfeeding etc etc.

Loopy Is it you who is our sling guru? What was the website you recommended? I suppose I?d better start making some arrangements, or this baby might be sleeping in a drawer when he comes home!

Oh yes, essentials - for anyone hoping to breastfeed - LANSINOH CREAM!! Or I suppose any other type of lanolin cream. Use it religiously after every feed, even if your nipples aren't sore. Godsend. Smile

Hi all hope u are all well.

Congratulations to u mummyW on your engagement that is wonderful news.

We had an ok xmas and new year it was slightly overshadowed by the news from my 20 week scan which i had on 23rd Dec. We found out we are having a little boy, and I cant wait to meet him, now i've gotten my head around the fact its a boy (for some reason i was convinced it was a girl), unfortunately they found a small pocket of fluid on one of his lungs which is slightly worring had a second scan a week later with a consultant and going tomorrow for another scan to compare measurements so i am hoping that we can get some answers as to what we can do etc. has anyone else had this or similar i am getting anxious now.

although you would say that there was anything wrong the way he has been wiggling and kicking me of the past couple of weeks.

DontWorryBaby · 05/01/2011 19:22

Chester no experience at all, sorry to hear of your worrying news. There are boards on here for antenatal tests etc - might be worth starting a new thread on there to ask if anyone has been through the same?
