Hi! All

loopy fab news with the scan. How is DH with it now?

fiji sorry to hear of the problems you've been having with DH. You are both probably under alot of pressure right now - what with the move, DC birthday and christmas etc. Hope things will settle down for you soon.

heinzy & kirk welcome to the thread. We have a separate stats list, please feel free to enter your details. It's called 'May stats not chat' and is within Ante-Natal.

kirk my DD is 9 (she'll be 10 just after birth), DS is 7 (he'll be 8 just before birth). They have been ok with it, both are looking forward to helping out. I'm also due 7 May.

bonkerz sorry to hear that you are in so much pain with the SPD - must be awful. But heh! fantastic news on the amount of time you have left to work til mat leave Grin

Sorry to hear the some of us are still suffering with MS - wishing it away for you.

Got the splints for the carpal tunnel on Wednesday, its much better - although I am still waking up in the night - at least its not from the carpal pain.

DD is off sick today with sickness bug - yuk! This is now the 4th time in 5 weeks. School must be infested - only had 75% attendance last Friday because of it.

I'm suffering with yet another cold - roll on the spring when all these nasty bugs go away.

Have anomaly scan this coming monday - we will all be going which will be lovely for the DC's as well.

DSD will be coming over for the weekend this evening, so have a house full - not sure what we will get up to. Might take them to the artificial snow activity place.

What's everyone else up to - my guess is getting ready for Christmas? Xmas Smile

19+6 today Grin Smile Grin

I'm ready for Christmas now, and the rest of the December birthdays that happen in my family.

Am on my second course of antibiotics for kidney infection. Had a major wobbley crying session at DH the other night. Suffering from horrible nightmares too, so feeling a bit sorry for myself.

Kirk1 · 17/12/2010 13:02

Thanks for the welcome :)

DD is thriled, DS is indifferent (I think, maybe it just hasn't sunk in yet he's a very self-centred child) DH is delighted. I think I'm the least enthusiastic of the family!

Taking DC to optitian for eye tests today. DS has been moving closer and closer to things he wants to see, so suspicious that he'll need glasses :( He's already doing better than me for them though, I had them from age 5...

cowboylover · 17/12/2010 20:58

Kirk Welcome! Scan is the same day as me so it will be exciting together!

Fiji: I was thinking of that the other day, does my wee smell weird or is it just that I can smell it?!

We both got snowed in today and DH is slowly turning our house into a grotto now I let him put the tree up its gone crazy and the front window now is a flashing vision in blue lights.

Sorry if TMI but I did that age old thing today when they say if you cant remember when the last time you had sex was its been too long... well it does make me think how did this baby get made at all.

Hope everyone is ok out there in the snow. We got 7 inches here and still coming Xmas Smile

MummyW - so pleased for you. I'm 2 days ahead Xmas Grin

Feeling some cool kicks, yehay! Had a total reaction to something in a new top - incredibly itchy & sore 'ends of boobies' - hope it doesn't bode badly for the old breast feeding...

pootros · 18/12/2010 10:06

congratulations everyone!! almost / at the halfway mark!! Getting very excited now.

lol cowboylover xx know how that feels! but that's because oestrogen levels are raging so maybe it just FEELS like a long time!? at least that's what i'm telling myself!!

pootros · 18/12/2010 10:08

PS Loopy - patient.co.uk is also a brilliant place to look for medical info on the net without getting sidetracked into any off the wall info.

runningmonkey · 18/12/2010 11:47

Hi all,

Just checking in. 20 weeks today, how did that happen?! :) Lovely hear about all the new scans and things. Hope the sickness is easing for people now.

xx

sesamesmith · 18/12/2010 17:52

Hang on, 5 days behind you, MummyW.

Really loving this snow, but treading very, very gingerly...!

BizzeeBee · 19/12/2010 08:35

Hello! Lovely to hear that people are starting the next round of scans.

Sorry for massive radio silence and lack of personal messages from me. The last four weeks at work have been a nightmare for me. Except for last week I've been on a business trip every week, plus a weekend in the UK. Xmas Shock It's been hideous. I've taken 18 flights, and seen plenty of snow and ice at the various airports. I've had flight delays (lasting hours), cancellations, stood for ages at ticket desks being re-routed.....

Fortunately I'm not heading back to the UK for Christmas until later in the week Xmas Smile, so hopefully it will clear-up and stay clear for then. I feel really sorry for all those who are having a nightmare in the snow this weekend.

Is anybody having internet Christmas present shopping delivery concern like me? I'm hoping that DH's stocking fillers will arrive at the in-law's in time. DH has told me all my presents are at his parents house in UK, so if we don't make it back to the UK later in the week I will be presentless until we make it there!

Have fun in the snow, and hopefully it won't be so long until the next time I check-in, and with some personal messages! Xmas Grin

QwertyQueen · 20/12/2010 07:03

Hi all...
so odd to be sweltering in heat here and hearing your stories about snow!
My heartburn has started now :(
I had it terrible with DS so not happy about it.. one of the joys of pregnancy I spose.
20 week scan on Thursday, so looking forward to that.
My best friend just tole me she is preg too, almost exactly a month behind me which is fab eveb though we live in different countries :)
Hope you are all surviving the snow!

Vassia · 20/12/2010 09:16

Hi Everyone

Sorry for just coming in with a random question here, but I'm slightly worried. I am 18+5 today and lastnight I had the weirdest stabbing pain quite low down, almost under the bump. I have had a lot of stretching, dull achey pains, but this was like a stabbing, "take your breath away" kind of pain. Think I've felt the baby move since then so not too worried, but just wondering if this is a normal type of stretching pain? Has anyone else had this feeling? This is my first (you can probably tell!) I'm at work just now, the pain did subside after a couple of hours but I feel like its coming back on. My DH thought it might be braxton hicks, but I didn't expect it to feel like a sharp pain! I don't know, I'm confused!

xx

jinglebellssantasmells · 20/12/2010 09:47

hey vassia,i cant really help but just wanted to say with my first pg, i used to get a lot of stabbing pains that felt like they were going right thru my lower back i never did find out wot they were, i pretty sure braxton hicks sudnt be painful tho, if they continue u cud always ring the midwife to be on the safe side

Random query for today... has anybody had the swine flu vaccine? The headlines in the news are making me think as to whether to have it or not.

jinglebellssantasmells · 20/12/2010 13:02

elf that is exactly the concern i have at the mo, i really do not know wot to do

pistatio- hope your scan goes well, do u find gender out today?

jojosmaman · 20/12/2010 13:24

Hi everyone! I'm due May 8th and have 20 week scan on Thursday morning, very excited. I already have a ds nearly 4 who is adamant he is having a baby brother (I secretly hope he's wrong!!).
x

DontWorryBaby · 20/12/2010 13:28

I'm still covered from the swine flu vaccine I had in nov last year with my first pregnancy. FWIW, I had no side effects whatsoever. It is a very personal choice though. Another news story last week about a mum with swine flu being in a coma after giving birth... Not sure what happened thereafter. If I remember correctly, the immunity will pass to your baby as well. You've just got to go with what you think is best in your personal circumstances.

pistachio good luck with the scan, looking forward to hearing your news.

I am exhausted today! Can't wait to finish work on Thursday for a... erm... rest (who am I kidding? It's Christmas for goodness sake)!

Yorkstar · 20/12/2010 13:35

Hi ladies, Hope everybody is well and it's lovely to log on and hear happy scan news and more to come this week :)

Regarding flu vaccine, iv got mine this afternoon. Have been umming and ahhing for a couple of weeks and have decided that i wouldn't forgive myself if i caught flu and something happened to the baby. I think it's a personal decision and agree that It is difficult to know what to do for the best though.

QwertyQ sorry to hear your heartburn has started so early. I had only a touch of it with ds but i pg friend of mine had to drink gaviscon by the bottle.

All good over here, am 21 + 5 and still don't have much of a bump to speak of. Baby is wriggling away tho, i find that s/he seems to have a really busy couple of days on the movement front then goes much quieter for a couple of days. Also, been having braxton hicks for about 4 weeks now too. Not painful but can be uncomfortable at times, like when im cattying ds.

runningmonkey · 20/12/2010 13:54

re flu vaccine - after having flu (confirmed by GP on phone) a fortnight ago I would recommend having the vaccine. I'm not sure if it was the piggy variety or not but I felt truly dreadful and am still a bit wiped out now. My temperature went over 40 at one point and I was v v poorly but lucky not to be worse I think. I'd annoyingly had my letter about vaccination but not got around to doing anything about it - I am waiting to hear whether there is any point in me getting it now.

Apparently this year the seasonal flu vaccine includes coverage for swine flu as well so that might be worth thinking about if it is offered.

qwerty I've had heartburn almost since bfp so you have my sympathy. Its truly horrid isn't it. Envy at your scorchio temperatures.

vassia I've had stabby pains both this pg and with DD1 and put it down to stretching.

Hope the scan goes well this pm pistachio

Hello to everyone else

ahhh congrats pistatio, that is really great will power i wud love to not find out but just dont think i cud do it esp if i know that they know

Vassia · 20/12/2010 16:15

Thanks for your replies, I was hoping it was just stretching pains, and the nugget has been going a bit mental today so it seems all is well in there if not a little cramped.

I had a letter through from GP a while ago about the flu jab, I just went for it. Didn't see much point in knocking it back. Never considered it before but I really wouldn't want to be ill on top of being pregnant. Eugh.
