Ahh looks like the Christmas's have been hammered by cold this week!

I enjoyed the time off and made myself feel even better today by provisionally booking the start of holiday/maternity leave for the end of March.

We have been having fun thinking of baby names but have decided to not tell many people as I dont want to get a bad reaction and make me question our decisions!

jinglebellssantasmells · 29/12/2010 18:42

cowboylover- i feel a bit like that with name choices dont think i will tell anyone in real life this time so far top of mylist is jackson john, but DP isnt sure on it so god knows will prob think more about names when we find out gender

hello, just checking in from a very warm UAE. Visiting friends for a last grown up holiday (everyone is working right now!) and I am having a lovely time. Trying hard not to get too much sun, which is tough because I do like to have a tan Blush. But OK so far.

I am now 23+5. Been experiencing pretty excrutiating 'ripping' pain across the top of my tum. Basically, not to gross everyone out, but my tummy is ripping in two- I actually have a vacant cavity developing in the middle. It's gross, and HURTS.

I know I am the earliest on this thread, so do't want to alarm ppl. But would be good to hear from other mums already - is it meant to heard so much? Like a burning hot ripping sensation??

In other news, I am now mahoosive. EVeryone predicting a boy, I am still unsure. Baby now kicks me day and I night, which I continue to love and find reassuring. In fact, now starting to get neurotic if I don't feel kicks.

Love to all - here's to a brilliantly exciting 2011 for everyone!! x

hello everyone.
Hope you all had a lovely xmas. Ours was pretty good but the pain of the expense has just been confounded by a big tax bill. ouch.

re: names. I'm afraid I've already named mine and barring a major disaster, that will be the name. I did the same with the others and the names worked a treat.

He is Max. Not Maxwell or Maximilian. Just Max. He is kicking as I write as his little ears are obviously burning. Wink.

21 + 2 and already feeling like a monster. But then I am only 5'3 so it kind of looks bigger on me than it does on most.

runningmonkey · 30/12/2010 13:04

Hi all,

sorry to hear lots of you have been poorly over the Christmas period and hope you are on the mend now.

We had a lovely time with just me, DH and DD who got very excited about all of her pressies. Then my Mum and DB's came to visit which was a squeeze in our tiny house but was lovely to see them.

Also had my scan yesterday. All looks fine :) and the sonographer was convinced its a boy (also not telling anyone in RL so feel good about sharing it here) although I am not going to believe anything until my later scans/I actually see the baby as last time we were told DD was a boy at 20 weeks. Mind you, the baby did look like it was playing with its bits while the scan was being done so it could be :D

As for names, we'll be going with something Welsh but not too difficult to pronounce or spell given we live in England! We've found girls names so much easier as I have a strong favourite for a boys name which DH doesn't like v much (although has agreed to keep on the table). My two cousins are due around the same time as me and have both decided on names already. Am not going to tell anyone though as I don't want any comments before the birth. One of them already has a Macs (Welsh sp of Max) mslucy which I like a lot.

littlemilla that sounds v ouch. Can't say I had anything similar but remember a friend of mine who is a v competitive rower describing something similar - she had an impressive sixpack pre-pg and put it down to the muscles seperating. Could it be something similar? might be worth speaking with MW/GP when you get back.

Right must go do some preparation for tomorrow evening - have volunteered to make a pavlova for a dinner party we're going to... not done one before!

LittleMilla · 30/12/2010 16:21

pistachio and runningmonkey the bit that hurts is near the top of my abdomen, near ribcage. I have noticed that when I lie on my back in the pool (not gloating, honest!) I get a ridge down the middle...where I used to be quite flat. Although my tum was never near competitive rower proportions, the bit that's painful is defo my most toned area. So I do think it's just the muscles splitting Shock.

pistachio I have had a MASSIVE growth spurt. Lots of people are giving me a Hmm face when I say that I am 23 weeks. DOesn't help that I am five foot 1 or 2 (if standing properly)...I am turning in to the cartoon pregnant lady I was scared about!! Hope it slows down a little to give my body a chance to catch up!

mslucy Max is a great name - solid and dependable. I also know a fairly attractive Max, so that might cloud my opinions slightly Wink.

jinglebellssantasmells · 30/12/2010 17:52

lilmilla- ouch that sounds painful cant say ive eva experienced i myself and this time i think will be less painful as my muscles were already still stretched from havin DD 20 months ago , altho im with u on the big belly, being only 5ft1-2 also the baby has nowhere to go but out

mslucy- i also like max it was a name i suggested to DP but he didnt like it, (he doesnt like anythin i suggest for a boy tho)

had my flue jab today everything seems fine bit of a sore arm but thats it, may pretend i feel ill to DP lata tho lol Grin

cowboylover · 30/12/2010 21:03

mslucy: I love the deciciveness. If it was a boy it was going to be Sebastian for sure but being a girl has thrown us off! I really like Harmony but its not popular at all and got slated on the baby names board so I am telling anyone in RL except my Mum who loves it!

runningmonkey: My DH is Welsh and I live in Wales but English so I would like it to reflect both our families! My friend lent me a book with all Welsh names and there are some great choices.

So whats everyones plans for New Years Eve?
I feel like I should be doing something as the last one before the baby arrives but really not sure what I want to do so at 9m the day before we still have no plans!

I am feeling very pregnant at the moment and bumo has grown and seams to have got hard?! My hips are really uncomfortable at the moment and stopping me sleeping now so I hope I hope the midwife can recommendations to help sort it out.

Bonkerz · 30/12/2010 21:37

hi all, thought i had better report in. Got my scan tomorrow......am now 20+4!
Am so nervous, cant wait to find out if we have a son or a daughter but so scared also.

I dont want to feel dissappointed and i cannot guarentee i wont if they say its a SHE.

we havent decided on names completely, have lots of names in the pot but decision will be made with DS,DD and DSD when we know for sure what we are having.
DH likes ASTON for a boy (not JLS related but a keen villa supporter) although he is worried about the ribbing he will get! I like Zachary (ZAC) for a boy. Girls names in the running are Maisie, Ellie or Ella.

jellybaby has got alot more active and i was rudely awoken at 4am this morning with a kicking baby although kicks all seem very low down and towards the rear at moment and seem to vibrate through me. Am also struggling with chinese burn like pains on what used to be my waist!

Am still poorly, been ill now with respiritory infections and throat infections for past 7 weeks and still have a very husky voice and sore throat :( am now gaining weight slowly which is good considering i have lost 22kg in 11 weeks!

beetroot, pickled onions and ready salted crisps are my cravings right now.......

Am off to the mother in laws for new years eve for a family party, spent boxing day with them too and i have to admit it was challenging being sober around all the drunk people but atleast i got to go to bed at 9:30 as we stopped over but we are driving home after midnight so i can tell its going to be a long day!

So, scan is at 11:45am, BOY/GIRL......take your bets please!

jinglebellssantasmells · 30/12/2010 21:45

do u have a incling as to what your having bonkers?

Bonkerz · 30/12/2010 21:53

not really, when i listen on the doppler the heartbeat is lower than 140 so could be a boy, i also have been more aggressive which could indicate testosterone (happened with my first DS too) but im carrying the same, been just as sick and am scared to have an incling!

IM so undecided,

If its a boy it will be my DHs first son....(my DS is not DHs) so would be brill BUT my DS has autism and its something that is genetic in boys on my side so a boy would mean higher chance of ASD issues which scares me. Despite this though i would love a boy!
If its a girl, thats fine too but i really want my DH to have a son. He wants a son too.

jinglebellssantasmells · 31/12/2010 08:37

Bonkers- i know how u feel my DP wud really like a boy aswell i know he wud be over the moon, we already have a girl which is brill as i always wanted a girl, but i wud really like a boy now to, i wud be happy for DD if its a girl tho i think it wud be nice to have a sister (i have 2 brothers) which on the most part r not very helpful

gudluck today let us know how u get on

mslucy · 31/12/2010 09:58

cowboy
I like Harmony - it's a lovely name. If I'd had a girl, she's have been Violet, so you're welcome to that!
It's been a favourite for many years, but I've never had the chance to use it and this is definitely the last one for me (already asked for the lady snip).

Rollercoasteryears · 31/12/2010 11:10

Hello everyone, sorry to hear several of you were ill over Christmas.

mslucy I think Max is a great name - it was on our short list, but I think we've decided on another boy's name now. We're finding girls' names a lot more tricky!

Littlemilla no sorry, I've not had any pains up there. Am very envious of your relaxing holiday though - that's probably the thing I miss most about pre-parenthood! Though the irony is that if we had the opportunity to go on a hot relaxing holiday without DS now, we'd just miss him and wouldn't enjoy it - so we're just looking forward to when the DCs are old enough to entertain themselves on the beach and we can actually relax a bit again!

jinglebells good idea, milk that sore arm as much as you can Xmas Grin

Random symptom alert has anyone had any change in underarm hair growth???? All the books go on about how thick your head hair will get (which mine is definitely getting) but I've also noticed that my underarm hair has more or less stopped growing! I remember that from my first pregnancy too. Not completely, but I now only have to shave every couple of weeks instead of every couple of days - and my underarms are a bit itchy too. Not at all concerned about it, but curious as to whether anyone else has noticed any similar changes since the books don't mention it???

bonkerz have you had your scan yet? Hope all's well.

gingerwench · 31/12/2010 21:36

quickly checking in ...

Christmas Eve had 20 week scan all looking good. We chose not to know the sex. DS was able to watch too and was clearly very taken with the images. Virtually every picture he has drawn since has started with a big circle he calls "mummy's big baby bump" and then he draws the baby inside along with a whole load of random squiggles etc Not bad for 2.5yrs old!

The written results of the amnio arrived (verbally we have been told they are all fine) including a note on the front warning us that they include confirmation of the sex. I've had to ask DH to put it in our safe in case I get tempted to find out!

Lots of coughs and wheezes plus we've all had winter vomiting bug here. DH was feeling v sorry for himself. When I got it, he asked how I was and I did say it wasn't as bad as the 17.5 weeks of morning sickness! Xmas Grin

I'm another shorty (5ft 1.5) with a distinctly big bump. Suspect some of it is festive overindulgence rather than baby though.

Happy New Year to all.

Bonkerz · 01/01/2011 01:30

Happy new year ladies. Had my scan today! All is good, baby growing fine and all measurements in normal range. It was very wriggly though which made getting heart and bladder pics difficult so I'm back on 13th for another scan. Was told that te sonographer thinks it's a BOY though but will be confirmed in 13 days xx

Am off to bed now it's been a long and emotional day! Hope you have all had a great new years eve even if it was a sober one ;). Here's to 2011 and to meetin our healthy babies xx

jinglebellssantasmells · 01/01/2011 09:11

happy new year all, congratulations to gingerwench and bonkers really glad your scans went well

QwertyQueen · 01/01/2011 12:28

HI all
Happy 2011!
All OK this side, bump getting bigger...

Rollercoaster, my underarm hair seems to be growing even faster than usual but also - my nipples have got a lot darker, don't like it very much! Anyone else?

Feeling lots of baby movement which is great, DH desperate to feel it too but no luck just yet. 19 + 2 today.

Congrats on the boy, Bonkerz!

Hello all and a Happy New Year to everyone.

Thank you so much Loopsy for namechecking everyone. Of course I was going to do that myself but you beat me to it (I lie of course, I am in awe of your organisation!).

DD didn't make it home for Xmas and it was, and is frankly crap so we'll skip over that to keep everyone upbeat. We'll just keep buggering on.

On the bump front....20 week scan came and went and needs to be redone because the little blighter angel wouldn't be still longer enough or in the right position to get all the measurements. I hope this is not an omen foreboding a naughty child. We have no time for that thanks very much.

We're basically ok but the humbug part of me just wants all the new toys away, decs down, lingering visitors on their way and life back to normal, whatever that is. Would be so much easier if you could just drink through it all....

MummyWilliams · 02/01/2011 17:27

Happy New Year to everyone and their families!

Have had a hectic festive time - tiring but great fun.

We got engaged on Christmas Day Xmas Smile

Nothing to report here but can't quite believe I am 22+1 weeks Grin

Haven't made any purchases but have allowed myself to look on eBay for bargains. Especially a 3 wheel all terrain pram. Does anyone know of a suitable carrier for a bicycle from birth? We like to cycle as a family but don't think there is anything on the market that caters for babies that aren't sitting up on their own.

I've grown out of all the maternity trousers that I initially purchased in a size 12 and have bought 2 second hand pairs in a 14, but they are already feeling uncomfy. I just wear tracksuit bottoms when we are at home - so much more comfy.

I have been feeling little one moving and kicking from the outside, but so far DP hasn't managed it.

We have a scan on Tuesday next week - this is the blood flow scan to check that blood flow from me to placenta and placenta to baby is all as it should be - I am only having this done because of previous high blood pressure history.

We are going to need a new thread quite soon, does anyone have any suggestions for a title?

xxx

MummyW congratulations - that's wonderful! You must be over the moon!
The only way I'm able to cope with maternity clothes is to put them below the bump, and use a belt and/or elastic bands.

Re kicking - it's sometimes quite strong. Hubby felt it 2 nights ago and was very endeared.

Re hair - long bottom hairs are the latest - not the sort of thing one would normally have to get rid of...!

Still struggling to get rid of the bronchitis/sinusitis. Now trying steam inhalation - seems to help.

Glad everyone's progressing so well, and also that we 80% (!) know the sex - good to get my head round it before he pops out Xmas Grin If they've got it wrong, it would be the right way round for me.

Happy New Year!
