Watching some now then.

Garden looks lovely in the snow, dh was going walking today & is having to change plans. Luckily he isn't going yet as I was going to stubble getting pram out on my own (down steps) with theextra hassle of snow.

floozietoozie · 29/11/2010 08:29

Seashells got a scarf on ds yesterday for the first time ever but only prob because he was half asleep sitting on the pram. Hats are a no no. It's a hood or nothing and I haven't even tried gloves yet this winter. He needs new ones anyway but they never used to stay on. Fortunately he's a little warm boy like his dad rather than a coldie like me.

How much are those with the older babies feeding at night now? Last night it was 10.30 - 3.30 - and now 8am. It's always for at least an hour but I still think ot should be more frequent.

Supposed to be going to seey colleague and her baby same age as dd this pm but we're keeping ds off nursery this am cos of chest and not sure if
I'll take him to crèche on the pm which is when I was planning the visit. I'm not sure about taking him with me.

sam12 · 29/11/2010 08:59

floozie the plan was to try and establish bf but since returning from the hospital dd has managed two sucks!! I must admit that my efforts to establish it are now becoming half-hearted as the expressing has become part of the daily routine and it really distresses dd when I try. So to be honest I don't know we are just taking it as it comes.
DD will be 7 weeks tomorrow and last night slept 1.45-7.15 and she is fast asleep again now. I wanted to try and get a bit extra sleep myself but after hearing the bin men singing 'snow is falling' at the tops of their voices I got up to survey the weather and am now wide awake.

The bin men were right and the snow is quite deep today. I can see the bus route from the window and it looks like none have gone past today. I love the snow but we were making good progress with decorating the last room of the house and dh needs a tool which we were going to get today but looks like that is going to all get held up. It needs to be done by xmas! We are also going to my dads for our dinner later but I think I will get dd wrapped up and walk round.

Is anyone else finding that time is just flying by since our new arrivals?

HermyaAndThePomBears · 29/11/2010 09:01

Sam Yeah I'm finding that, it makes me rather sad as he's growing up too fast for my liking.

I managed to get on one of the discussions of the day, I must admit it's a thread about the Governments plans about breastfeeding in the workplace. But hey, I'll take my mumsnetty moment of fame. Grin

SeaShellsFiringUpTheQuattro · 30/11/2010 09:31

Well done Hermya!

Done the weekly shop, dropped off Ds to nursery and dd asleep on the trolley so treating myself to a sainsbury's fry up as not had a chance to eat today-bliss!!

Hope everyone is ok with the snow-still none on the south coast :)

nymphadora · 30/11/2010 12:11

We have snow to look at but main roads fine. Close shave yesterday outside kids school & only 3 rd time driving in 2 months (1st in my own car). First time I'd gone out without dd3 too (10min school run!).

Booked first KIT day today ,consultation meeting about restructure. My role is being merged with 2 others and my geographical area is going completely. Am now job hunting to get away from it all!!!

floozietoozie · 30/11/2010 12:20

Sam my cousin expressedfor six months to feed both her sons as neither could latch on. So they were bf via bottle too.

Tysonandthehouseelves86 · 30/11/2010 14:25

Snow in Northampton, Yippee!!! Ds loving it and now at playgroup so i have a calm afternoon with dd, she has a snuffly cold and is laying next to me on the sofa.
I love driving in the snow, i was skidding on the ice rink which is our street when i was parking but other than that Northampton have gritted well, first time in 3 years so cant be bad lol. Hope everyone and there babies are well :) x

nymphadora · 30/11/2010 14:51

Anyone else too hot? Am only wearing cardi & t-shirt in the snow as I'm so hot. Surely hormones calm down now! Although am using my excess ones to deal with Estate Agents & solicitors Grin

DillyDora · 30/11/2010 20:00

marking my place, my dears.... I fell off for a bit
x

HermyaTheRedNosedReindeer · 30/11/2010 20:26

Hi Dilly how are things going?

Nymph You selling up and living the dream in a camper van then?

DS has been a right little monkey the past two days. He's been so irritable and has been really really fighting sleep. He doesn't want to be put down and if I leave the room he cries. I spent an hour today singing to him to get him to calm down. I think I worked through the entirity of Glee on youtube. What must my neighbours think. Hmm

DillyDora · 30/11/2010 20:37

Oh Hermya thank you for your post - we are having the same thing and I'm going mad! He only sleeps about 8 hours in every 24! Maybe I should try the singing!

Right better read your posts, Ladies!
x

DillyDora · 30/11/2010 20:42

Have read lovely posts, very Envy of deep snow and LOs who sleep! Had a couple of bad days of rowing with DH and feeling like world's worst wife and mother and uh oh DS waking now in sling and bashing me on the chest with his luvverly head...good job I love him so much, eh?! More as soon as I can get on MN again...
xx

nymphadora · 30/11/2010 20:54

Not selling our house, still selling dh flat that we agreed an offer in July! Thread in property if anyone is interested.

Thinking of getting baby monitor as dd3 is starting to be ready for bed at 8-8:30 & we are wanting to be ready at 9ish so we could put her down

tiredfeet · 30/11/2010 21:04

Hello all! Sorry for disappearing, was strugglimg to get the thread on my phone. Discovered the specific mumsnet mobile site now so should be able to keep up a bit better hopefully.
Ds feeds the whole time, I'm so grateful for mobile internet, what did people do before?! Contemplating getting a kindle though as I miss reading...
Very jealous of all the snow, we finally had a few flakes today but nothing settled. I am such a kid about snow! Dh and I seriously considering driving north to find it but not sure ds is old enough for sledging yet...

sam12 · 30/11/2010 23:57

hermya I know I was really sad when I had to pack away dds clothes that she's already grown out of. They grow and change so quick.
floozie it's good to hear that some have managed to express thru to weaning. I've met some negative responses but I think it is something that is not done very often.
nymph we have a monitor but so far it hasn't been very successful as we end up running up and down stairs so often that we give in and bring her back down.
tired we have got really deep snow. We walked over to my dads last night but there is no way I could push a pram in it today and it's still coming heavy. Was supposed to be having a day out with a friend tomorrow but we've had to cancel but on the upside it does look pretty and is making me feel in the mood for Christmas. I do wish dd was old enough for sledging and snowmen building tho.
Hope everyone else ok. It has gone very quiet on this thread. I think it must be the longest running one we've had

AbFabT · 01/12/2010 00:18

Hey, All
I'm still here! DS feeding absolutely loads, barely have time to Mumsnet (I have an old mobile phone so no access there), and when I do get a moment to get online, I am shopping around for Christmas presents (pretty much all for DS! :) ). All going well, he's charming me every day, we have lots of snuggles, and I am very happy. Can't believe how much he has grown and changed already.
No idea how those of you with other children manage to mother them AND a newborn!

Yay - it's December! And London has snow - at last! Love it!

nymphadora · 01/12/2010 06:58

Bad nights kip! She slept ok until 3am but was in our bed so not good for me. Then dh & I took turns but all she wanted was milk! I feel v empty now & she is still going. Growth spurt ahead me thinks ...

SeaShellsFiringUpTheQuattro · 01/12/2010 07:29

Sam12- I think you are right re longest running thread! We have all got our hands full :)

Abfab, glad things are still going well. You need that lovely Dh of yours to get you an iPhone for Xmas, your mnetting is being compromised Wink

Nymph - ouch painful night then-I hope things aremore settled today.

I'm starting to think about loose routines for dd, mainly getting her to bed and napping with Ds but she is typically variable just like Ds. Contrary!! She went 9hrs last night-I was asleep thinking shed wake at 10 and she went through to 2. Given that her weight gain is not as good as I hoped I was pretty concerned. She has dropped from 98th down. Fucking cold. Excuse my French Grin

Birthday was fun, and I have immediately developed grey hair and hairy warts on turning 30!!

HermyaTheRedNosedReindeer · 01/12/2010 08:02

Nymph We got given a baby monitor and it's a Godsend, it means me and DH get a baby free hour. I do feel slightly guilty about leaving DS in a darkened room all on his own though. I don't really know why though.

Sam I think you're right. Ironically we're all still in antenatel, I doubt there are still pregnant people on here anymore though Grin.

Abfab I keep meaning to ask you, what nappies did you go for in the end?

DS was still playing up last night, I gave him some infacol but the little cheeky thing knocked the whole bottle out of my hand causing it to spill all over the carpet. I think when we finally move, we're going to have to hire a carpet cleaner. I'm debating if to head out today, I need to get bread and milk at some point but I can walk to get that. I think I may just hibernate with DS and have a walk to the local garage later. It really is DVD and sofa weather isn't it.

Xavielli · 01/12/2010 08:27

sam12 Huge respect to you for continuing to express full time. I tried it for 3 weeks and just felt like a dairy cow and really quite sore all the time. I have stopped now and DS2 is ff, I am gutted about this but it was the best option for us really as with school runs/homework/dinner/housework/actually having to find time for DS1 and DD it wasn't working out being strapped to the milkatron3000 for about 4 hours a day. I really miss BF and wish that there had been someone able to separate DS2's tongue tie at my local hospital as opposed to having to wait for an appointment at the JR.

Having said that, I feel much more relaxed now that he is growing properly, there is no resentment from the other kids and it doesn't feel like someone is trying to pull my boobs off (pump, not baby!!). So I guess I shouldn't beat myself up too much. Baby group was tough, seeing everyone else latch their babies on no trouble. I am really weepy all the time though, which I should keep an eye on.

floozietoozie · 01/12/2010 09:17

Seashells what centile has she dropped to? Dd was 75th at birth, now second. Length and head size fine.

xav don't don't feel guilty. Ds2 has had tge most important bit of breast milk. The weepiness might be related to hormone changes but as you say keep an eye on it. Hugs. It used to really upset me seeing other bfing people when I was out with ds so I can totally relate to how you feel.

SeaShellsFiringUpTheQuattro · 01/12/2010 09:32

75th, hv not worried, and I'd be amazed if she sustained 98th but it's just another concern.

Xav-you did so well to get as far as you did. Keep an eye on the weepiness-make sure your are getting some time out!

Floozie-It's difficult isn't it. Good news that height etc are ok. Hv also asked re development (which is fine) which just shows how complex it all is.

Sofa and DVD day it is. Need to get Xmas cards sorted though :)

ILoveGregoryHouse · 01/12/2010 11:57

Hi. Marking pkace too. Been lurking but difficult to post as when dd is not feeding, she's pooing! She put on half a pound last week. Up to 11th centile from 9th. Yippee.

Mum is staying an extra month so I'm clear to persist with the bf til then and boys won't suffer from too little attention. Mil arrives tonorrow for a week. Looking forward to it.

tiredfeet · 01/12/2010 12:01

Xav don't feel bad, you have to make the decision that works for you. Less than half my baby group have managed to bf for more than a couple of weeks, several gave up due to tongue tie problems. My ds has problems with feeding sometimes and I know I couldn't keep going if I had other children to lool after

Right, time to open ds's advent calendar and eat the first chocolate before dh gets home Grin
