Muser · 03/11/2010 08:17

rocket I did not drink much before any of my scans. T'was fine.

Orchid12 · 03/11/2010 08:50

Same here Rocketman - I never overloaded myself with drink beforehand and it was fine. The only time I got sent away to drink with Mini O was at the 20 week scan when he wouldn't play ball to get spine measurements. They told me to drink something fizzy to wake him up a bit!

Any news Moo?

I'm still wishing morning sickness on myself (I know I will regret this at some point but for now it's my aim in life). I have a smidge of back-ache which I believe is a symptom of diffedness. I also POAS this morning, the clearblue type with conception indicator, to see if if had upped my weeks from last week. It has, and so I am temporarily satisfied (for this morning at least). I am becoming obsessive about knicker checking too. I had totally forgotten how nerve-wracking this first bit is. I know worrying about won't change a thing, but lying there at 4am trying to tell myself that is no fun. I read my pregnany diary from MiniO last night and I had written that fatigue and sickness started this week, so I may get my wish before too long Smile

laurielou · 03/11/2010 09:01

Rocket don't want to confuse matters, but what kind of scan are you having? When they booked me in I assumed it was - I've no idea what the proper term is - but a jelly on the belly kinda scan. It was only when I rang to confirm my appointment & ask if I needed a full bladder that I was told I had the thrill of a dildocam scan & that they actually needed an empty bladder.

Either way I hope you have an uber clear picture & it helps to make the news sink in. Enjoy!

We went out for dinner last night with good friends who are emigrating this weekend Sad (not for them obviously, but Mr Loz & I are going to miss them). Being close friends we wanted to tell them our news face to face. Their reaction was superb, made me vay excited.

However, between them & person in work I "accidentally" told, we've had a few questions. Am I being over-sensitive, or are these questions a bit Hmm

  1. Congratulations! I assume its good news, isn't it?
  2. Are you getting married?
  3. Were you trying or was it a surprise?
  4. How long were you trying for?

I'm not upset by the questions, just a bit surprised really.

PrincessBoo · 03/11/2010 09:26

Question 3 wouldn't offend me, but I think 1,2 and 4 are a bit Hmm. Especially number 2 - which century are we living in then?

'Scuse me hanging around in here - tis wishful thinking / PMA!

MrsFC · 03/11/2010 09:31

lorry, I don't think you were being over sensitive - those questions would rile me too - esp the 'are you getting married' one! But I think it's just that people want you to carry on talking about your lovely news & aren't sure what to say. Maybe the 'trying' questions were from someone who was a secret BESH? Lovely lovely that you are able to tell someone at last though!

Good news about the CB upping your weeks orc, I am a self confessed POAS addict as well, and I STILL gusset check Blush. I bet you'll be dry heaving with the rest of them in the next day or so!

muse, I'm still fighting with the underwire - but like you - it's starting to hurt, not sure how much longer I'll last - I'm aiming for my birthday party at least!

I didn't need to drink for my scan either rocksoff, is this your nuchal fold one? Can't believe how fast time has gone - bet you can't WAIT to tell people!!

moo - how are things with you this morning?

I'm 'working from home' Hmm today. Couldn't be arsed with the tube strike bundle. Definitely not using the time to catch up with Desperate Housewives. No siree.

OkieCokie · 03/11/2010 09:47

Laurie my colleague (male) asked me if it was planned and then asked "how long did it take" - to that I answered about 3 minutes. Cheeky fucker.

Wit come and tell us your news!

AlpinePony · 03/11/2010 10:00

MrsFC I too am working from home - have walked the dogs & Bear and we watched Postman Pat.

MrsFC · 03/11/2010 10:05

Keeping up your work life balance pony. Good work.

reginaMonologue · 03/11/2010 10:26

So a flying pass by the daytime visit from me after being informed by AlpinePony that I am now third on the list of who's next to drop the pay load... eek! I mean it looks like moo has opened the cargo gates (she'll be glad she was so organised with stuff I'm sure!) and swits has also passed security and is awaiting her baggage to pop up on the conveyor belt...

All of this is leaving me decidedly edgy. Maybe I should waste less time playing xbox and concentrate on getting the final bits organised and sorted Blush.

Not much new to report from this neck of the woods except to point out I no longer fit through the dog gate no matter which way I line up the approach and I feel like I'm carrying a concrete baseball around in my pelvis, tres elegant! Oh and according to OH I now have my own significant gravitational pull akin to that of the other planets due to my enormity - much to his amusement (and in fact I have to agree with him, I iz massive innit!).

Well I hope that you're all well, now I must get on an finish eating all those sweets the trick or treaters missed out on Grin.

Muser · 03/11/2010 10:33

Regina it is lovely to see you! Was thinking about you just yesterday. You may well lead the list on the new fred, if moo and okie get a shuffle on.

Although they only have 39 posts to do it in, so maybe not. Which reminds me who wants on the NotList for next thread?

ChoChoSan · 03/11/2010 10:40

Morning ma beetches!

Very EXCITE abvout all the laying/imminenet laying that has been going on SWITS and Moomintroll!!!

Drom I'm with you on the moving tummy fun... though over the last couple of days mine has gone from "ooh look, I think that was a kick" to "OMG...There's an alien in there trying to get out!" this baby has upped its activity levels a gear just since the weekend, and I can track its movements with ease - freaksville!

Sad to report that I might have to consider ditching the stilettos...developing quite a painful back now, but still fighting the good fight against sensible shoes though, sisters!

MrsFC · 03/11/2010 11:42

cho I am in awe of your dedication to style.

I'm far too uncreative to start a new fred, but please could whoever does move me up? I'm counting the weeks till I'm not tired and huge any more, just knackered and fat...

rollerbaby · 03/11/2010 11:46

Guten morgan. I have just hauled my sorry arse out of bed can you believe it and had my vat of porridge.

Poor Mr Moo has gone back to bed (privileges of working from home) as my sonic snoring kept the man awake from 1 til 4.30am. I can't risk him being a tired bunny on the labour massage front so sent him back to slumberland. The dog is like WTF is going on?

Rocket I don't understand this pint of water before a scan business. I never did it and my baybee is fine. Different places seem to tell you different things. I wouldn't stress too much.

Drom I double dip on the Mama Mio stuff - tummy butter and oil. Mine are v v v feint. Maybe genetics but peoples do swear by the stuff so keep slathering...

orchid don't wish too hard - you might be regretting in a week or so!

Laurie all those questions are really rude in my view. The only thing they need to say is congratulations. I guess if they are good friends and you were having dinner and a few drinks they might be inclined to be nosy though... I was the other way around, I had to stop myself telling people details they REALLY didn't want to know. ha ha.

MrsFC tube strikes are the best. I hope you are halfway through the biscuit tin/DVD boxset as we speak.

okie I hope that shut him up! What you up to rest of week. If this baybee ain't coming out maybe we can go running or something?

good to see you reggie!! Yes it's all very well being mrs anal organisation but I've been ready for 3 weeks now and I can' get any readier short of sitting in the delivery suite waiting room!!!

chochypants how are youse? You'll be pleased to hear I wore my extraordinarily gorgeous stilettos to a party 2 weeks ago at 39 weeks. So all is not lost. It was the first and last time for probably 5 years and I couldn't walk for about a day, but it was worth it. My days of spending a fortnight's food shopping bills on shoes are well over.

Must get dressed/walk dog/sit back down in front of tv.

WHERE'S MA BAYBEE?

rocketleaf · 03/11/2010 12:03

Bloody wish I had read all this before I went. Although apparently the full bladder thing is to raise the womb up over the pelvic bone, so you get a clearer picture. On the whole it was lovely, apart from barely being able to stand up as I peaked FAR too early on the full bladder front :o Sonogropher was really nice and took ages showing us Sprout. Saw heart beat and then s/he did a little jig for us. TB was pretty underwhelmed tho as he reckons its just a fuzzy blur. Bless him, he apologised after and said he was excited but he's just so tired. (he's been kept up two night with really bad tickley cough) Then the midwife was pretty cool doing all the other paperwork and bllods, so I am quite happy I will be going back there for the 20 weeks scan. We talked about triple test and Nuchal fold etc. I still haven't decided whether to do it or not. I kind of favour the head in the sand approach but not sure TB will accept that.

Anyway, after all that going so well, I was obviously a little distracted and proceeded to fill the car full to the brim with unleaded and drive it for 4 miles before realising I now own a diesel car. I am now having an enforced day off while the engine is taken apart and cleaned. Fingers crossed I haven't totally broken it for all hell will break loose. :(

Sorry, that was all very memememe. moo hope things get a move on soon. drom yey for internal drumming! Sounds like fun. (i think) lozzer Shock at inappropriate questions, I do think often people just don't know what to say and then open there gob and utter crap comes out without them realising just how inappropriate they are being. Haven't really experienced that as all the people we have told so far have known the score regarding us TTC.

Muser · 03/11/2010 12:13

Glad the scan went well spaceship. Hooray for tiny babies in the right place doing the right thing.

rocketleaf · 03/11/2010 12:23

thanks muse spacecadet more like, how's the smiley face? (i think MrRocket and MrMuse would get on far too well)

OkieCokie · 03/11/2010 12:34

Silver babe was 1st Nov Muse and thanks for updating.

Pleased scan went fine Rocket but balls to the car ishoos. Last night I filled ours up with diesel (correctly) as it was looking fairly empty and I can just imagine the journey to hospital with the added stress of trying to get there on fumes alone!

Moo I am just watching trashy TV. I have also made a big batch of chilli this morning. I plan to get my eye brows threaded this afternoon although I am not sure I can be bothered with the 6 minute walk to the salon never mind any other physical exertion. My first 3 weeks of mat leave were quite active, this week I have barely moved from the sofa other than to do a bit of cooking.

I did however manage to secure Foo Fighters tickets this morning. This more than makes up for the Take Shite disappointment of last week.

Scorpette · 03/11/2010 12:44

I'll put it down to scan hysteria, Rocky Wink

Am glad all went well and your lil' PocketRocket had a nice boogie for you both. You're already a stage mum, getting him/her to jive on cue like that Grin Remember, there's no law saying you have to have the tests for chromosomal abnormalities, so if you'd rather not know, then feel fine about that. Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks an' all that (Willis). Needles warned me that although it seems like a straightforward choice to have them done, it can be v stressy and neerve-wracking after. Me and TYF are having them done, but that's our choice (we're nosy beggars).

I rang up my scan peeps t'other week to talk about my fears of not being able to drink anything in the morning and certainly not the amount they recommend and the lovely lady scanner told me they can sometimes do it on an empty bladder and if I don't have enough liquid in me, they'll just go for a dildocam. And as I have a backwards ute, it might not have tipped forward yet, making a dildocam the only option anyway. She said it was better to not drink anything than to force yourself to down stuff then feel sick (Wow! An understanding medic!). I'm so bloody excited about having mine now - can't beeeelieeeeeeve I have to wait until the 15th Angry

Perfick, sounds like you literally have a 'Little Drommer Boy', hoho (or girl) :)

Lozza, may I suggest the only possible response to such tactless and intrusive questions: flashing the Vs whilst blowing a deafening raspberry at the questioner! Did you do a terrifying hollow laugh at 'Was it planned?'? I guess getting pregnant means we've all invited ourselves to tolerating rudeness and interfering from others for the next, oooh, 30 years? Angry

Am going to fork out for some Mama Mio, I think. eBay here I come!

OK, I've taken the plunge & added myself to the not list. No-one has mentioned a due date, I've calculated this date using my amazing Carol Voderman skills & an abacus. I may however remove myself from the list come next April as I'm already hyperventillating at the thought of getting nearer the top of the list (apols moo & cokie)

Thanks for responses to my questions. I did wonder if friend was a secret BESH with some of her questions, I seemed to recognise some of my behaviour at diff announcements. Or maybe I'm just bonkers.

Rocket YEY for the scan! Glad it went well. Does it seem any more real?

Gin if you're lurking around just wanted to say hi. Hope you're doing OK.

Orchid12 · 03/11/2010 14:43

Rocketdog wooohooo for baby rocket. How exciting to see an RL ickle babee. Absolutely thrilled for you!

Lozza those questions are very personal! I remember being asked by several people if Mini O was a surpise. I was quite taken aback at first but got used to it eventually. I have to admit to wanting to tell them all the gory details of his conception, with my thermometer antics, forced sex at various times etc, but I never got the courage up! Given that this one took longer to conceive, I fear it will be difficult to contain a sarcastic response to a 'was it a surprise' question.

I think I may stay on my nice river boat cruise for a while longer if you don't mind, and not add my name to the diffed list until the fred after.

Muser · 03/11/2010 14:43

Good stuff laurie. You have aaaages to go still, don't worry. Does anyone want to add girl/boy flavour details? Or do we just need to update Silver? And is there any news on Switty?

Yes ginlove if you are lurking, hope all is good.

rocketleaf · 03/11/2010 14:51

Not sure it does feel real lozzer :o

scorps re the scan, we both sort of agree the triple is a waste of time and more likely to cause stress and anguish tbh as its only a percentage. Juries still out of the Nuchal. I guess the point is, what are you going to do with the information if its bad news? Is very tricky. We've agreed to think about it over the weekend. The good thing is that you guys already agree on it which is a massive bonus. :)

Just changing this to todays dating scans date. lozzer we are so close!

Back from MW. All is normale and she was very nice and not pressuring me for a rummage (which I found mildly disappointing actually - wtf is it with me wanting people to look up me foofy?) and is offering either a VE (gentle) and a sweep on Sunday morning, but only if I want one. She was quite accepting of me saying I wasn't keen. But to be honest, I might be by then.

So plan for the next few days is bouncy bouncy on ball and bed, few sessions of reflexology and super vigorous dog walking. Did that earlier and nearly wet myself on the way back... niiiice.

Turns out MW is mates with the wife who used to own our house. she has 5 children. They had to move cos no room!!!
