right I call sunday then.

yes cass salad IS my favourite food, especially avocado, tomato and mozzerella salad. which contains lots of fat and cheese if that helps.

ooh mas i am VERY close the iron men. Lots of liverpudlians scoff and say thats not really liverpool, but what do I care. It aint the Midlands thats for sure. How about you?

rocketleaf · 15/10/2010 11:37

Oh also i told my mother, she seemed very pleased and thankful for something cheerful as my dad and my nana are both not very good. We have decided not to tell dad until the scan tho in case he just worries which is very likely.

Although after 10 mins she did rather predictably say she hoped it was a girl :( Only because she wouldn't know what to do with a boy cleaningwise (i have one sister and 2 nieces), silly mare. I KNEW she would say that and she didn't really mean it in a girls are best way, its just what she's used to.

Casserole · 15/10/2010 11:42

OH, well, if we're counting avocados and mozarella then that's ok Grin

PerfectDromedary · 15/10/2010 11:52

How has no-one commented on Casp's shocking confession. She hasn't been drunk in a YEAR, people!

Aargh, and that will be me next June, fondly looking back at that one night with Headbanger when I was still allowed boozes.

Muser · 15/10/2010 12:03

I want to get Casp drunk now. Also in De Nile.

I have a hippobirth question. Been looking at courses and they are hugely expensive. Did people do courses or just study from a book/CD? I really don't want to fork out megabucks if it turns out I find the whole thing a bit too woo.

PerfectDromedary · 15/10/2010 12:06

My yoga teacher rolled her eyes when I mentioned hippobirthing as apparently we are learning it through the power of yoga. Lovely CUNTy has a CD which she used and says is all she needed. Courses look sickeningly expensive...

Scorpette · 15/10/2010 12:07

I haven't been drunk since January 2007, so NAH!

Cass, I did say at the end of the last fred that the boys joke was a direct pisstake of twunts who think boys are inferior. People used to commiserate with my Mum for not having 2 girls and it made me so upset and protective of my little brother Angry

I have been hoisted by my own pet toad* by claiming I was much better, for it's been a veritable pukerama chez moi since last night Sad

*One for the League of Gentleman fans out there Wink

Courses look sickeningly expensive and a bit sickening. I worry it will all get a bit too "you must do it this way" and I get the rage in those situations. Plus MrM is a science geek and will sit there muttering if they talk woo. I should rename him. TBG. The Big Geek.

StiffyByng · 15/10/2010 12:17

I'm interested in hippo birthing too, so interested to see how you get on. My sister-in-law is a hypnotherapist but won't do people she knows, and doesn't seem particularly sold on hippo birthing, so I'm looking to others for guidance.

Even with avocado and mozzerella, I am humbled by anyone who has salad up there as a favourite, unless you're secretly deep-frying some lettuce leaves? (I've always longed to be one of those people who just doesn't really like unhealthy food).

And can I bag Sunday for Honeymoo? It seems to be available.

rocketleaf · 15/10/2010 12:30

Don't get me wrong, I also love cheesecake, chocolate brownies, doughnuts, lasagna, currys the creamier the better, preferable containing paneer. But yeah salad is my weapon of choice when it comes to lunch because carbs give me this horrendous afternoon slump. And I also like it at dinner time (next to lasgana and quiche etc)

I already called sunday stiffy but happy to share any (imaginary) winnings with you or split it am and pm?

milanomum · 15/10/2010 12:30

Hullo. I've just graduated from the BESH fred

Scorpette · 15/10/2010 12:32

(To clarify: Mum also hated people thinking girls were better than boys)

rocketleaf · 15/10/2010 12:35

milano i believe you are very well placed to offer all sorts of bribery in the form of salami, palma ham and dolcelatta. That should do it. (benvenuto)

PerfectDromedary · 15/10/2010 12:37

Welcome, MM and congratumalations.

Merlot is definitely still on offer, even if only in virtual and the occasional glass for the sake of my sanity form

CluckyKate · 15/10/2010 12:44

Baby will be born when Moo's parents leave.....no idea when that is so stick me down for next Saturday Smile

We're doing a Hippo course - is being mostly funded by my HIP grant when I finally get it. So far the classes have been excellent & have left me feeling sooo relaxed I'm almost asleep. The book's OK but doesn't beat practical exercises and there is more coping stuff they give you the class which isn't written in the book. Plus for £250 quid the support doesn't finish when the class ends - our lady has offered to do more one-on-one sessions closer to the big day fer free.

You pays yer money, you takes per choice - all i know is that without Hippo-birthing course I would not be contemplating a home-birth after my last birthing experience [nods]

Pear, blue cheese & pomegranate makes a good salad too (with a few salad leaves of course), followed by rare fillet steak [licks lips]

CluckyKate · 15/10/2010 12:44

per yer - doh!

rollerbaby · 15/10/2010 13:06

Welcome MM!

I did the hippo course and I have to say found it really useful not just learning about the techniques but also really getting mr m on board and giving him the tools to help throughout. Whether of course this all proves a success remains to be seen but I definitely liked doing the course in person. I also read the Mongan book but it means more doing it in person. My course does coffee mornings every month and you get to meet the diffed and the new mums and hear about theri experiences. Everyone there absolutely raved about how much it had helped even if they ended up with C sections. The teacher is also a very kind, wise, reassuring and experienced older woman - exactly the kind of person you'd want to tell you about this stuff.

Doula no show unfortunately - someone else went into labour at 3am!

rollerbaby · 15/10/2010 13:10

My salad heaven: mango and big tiger prawns with baby tomatoes and red onion and balsamic vinegar.

Cluckys right - its the support and practical application that is great. We felt much more mentally prepared after having done this and way closer. The NCT was then the icing on the cake and we were much more relaxed by this point. Sorry I don't mean to sound all know it all - I'm fully aware that the rug is about to be pulled out from under me!!

milanomum · 15/10/2010 13:10

According to mostpregnancybooks you can't have salami or parma ham akshully. Well, not if you haven't had that cat disease thingy.

I didn't do an actual hippo birthing course with dd but the local hospital did a great ante-natal course which used a lot of the same theory. We were all sleeping blissed out at the end of each session. I think it was truely fantastic when it came to labour and I had a really amazing experience as a whole. No drugs (but probably only cos they don't do them over here so I had no choice Hmm).

milanomum · 15/10/2010 13:11

My salad: cannellini beans, tuna, oregano, olive oil, cherry tomatoes

OkieCokie · 15/10/2010 13:18

At least she had a pretty valid reason for the no show moo and sorry but I am waging my money on a November mini moo! I will go for Wednesday 3rd November which seems like ages away but it isn't really but just becasue we still have plenty of childless mat leave lunches to do and havne't managed 1 yet! Silver will be next. In fact my money is on next Thurs for Silver. So there.

Welcome MM and you are not even allowed in unless you bring that btl of Merlot. If we share it round we only get a sip each anyway.

I have been listening to hippo cd when I go to bed and I only ever get about 10 minutes in before I am fast asleep. Great for putting me to sleep, not sure what result it will have on me in labour. I am still debating whether to keep Foo Fighters and Kings of Leon on my i pod birth play list or whether it should all be "spa music" and hippo stuff?

rocketleaf · 15/10/2010 13:19

thats the point milano here in the Deli we can indulge virtually and virtuously in all those things we are not 'supposed' to eat while pregnant. Hence the name (well thats what I always assumed anyway) :o

So please hand over that salami sandwich to wash down with my latte.

Oh that subject I have been googling peanut butter like a loon, was told not to eat it, sis reckons that might be guff, I can find one study that says there is no evidence but lots of anecdotal to support not eating it. tricky really.

rocketleaf · 15/10/2010 13:21

btw yum to both those salads, I DID mention I am not supposed to eat them didn't I? Wink

OkieCokie · 15/10/2010 13:21

Chicken Caesar or one of those chilli tiger prawn noodle ones form M&S. Nice.

OkieCokie · 15/10/2010 13:25

Rocket t'Government recently (maybe a year ago?) retracted all advice about whether diffed wimmin should eat peanuts or not during pregnancy as they really have no clue whether it does harm or not - so there is currently no advice on this one. FWIW I have been eating peanut butter on my bagels in the morning.
