mid nov? lordy!!!! we shall be HUGE and quite scary at that stage! can see cafe owner flinching incase our waters break fabulous.
who else is coming?

sweetheart · 02/09/2005 14:38

Is there a Mothercare world in So'ton with a cafe???? Perhaps we should hang around in there - they give you free stuff if you go into labour in their stores don't they????

ninah · 02/09/2005 14:45

I'm in but not til post baby so meet up 2 for me - unless you all LOATHE each other

dramaqueen72 · 02/09/2005 14:49

not tempt you without tiny baby ninah? I could make you tea here if the idea of busy town centre depresses you. (here being my house!) and you could see your other southampton friend? purleeeeease?

s/h mothercare in southampton is awful, badly stocked, badly staffed (well okay some staff are okay, most are however 17 and couldnt give a s**t ) and certainly no cafe.....how about john lewis? big comfy chairs in restaurant area and 'probably' one heck of a gift basket if we go into labour!

ninah · 02/09/2005 14:55

'tis tempting ...
I could take a day off I guess
Let me see how much leave I have left, and give Zara a ring, cos I'd prob do a long weekend with her and then pop over to you as convenient
Would be good to see you!

scully · 02/09/2005 15:08

Love the idea, but the reality makes me nervous, if that makes sense.
But I'm sure by Nov I'll be too pregnant to worry too much about anything other than giving birth
Books Etc sometimes have nice coffee shops, well the one in Wimbledon does anyway!

dramaqueen72 · 02/09/2005 15:11

scully, am slightly nervous too, but love the idea of meeting you guys. would love to meet you!

ninah · 02/09/2005 15:15

am not nervous at all, isn't that odd? and v nice

sweetheart · 02/09/2005 15:17

scully - I could give you a lift if you wanted. Your only just down the road from me.

scully · 02/09/2005 15:37

Can't you see it Sweetheart, stopping every 15min for us both to find a loo

bonkerz · 02/09/2005 17:44

sounds good, need to visit family before christmas anyway and also before i get too fat! Will finish work 11th November so anytime after that and although i know Basingstoke really well i dont know southampton too well so maybe we should think somewhere like winchester or newbury as will be travelling from leicester????

Nemo1977 · 02/09/2005 18:11

how long does it take by train from liverpool to southampton???????? Any idea of costs either? Unfortunately would have DS in tow if I came.

Nemo1977 · 02/09/2005 18:18

aww just got all excited as you can get flights from liverpool to southampton but they finish at end of oct according to the website

sweetheart · 02/09/2005 18:21

bonkerz if you could get to B'stoke I wouldn't mind taking you to So'ton.

I don't mind Winchester either - presumably we just need somewhere with a large train station that is accessible to everyone and a decent cafe, restaurant type thing not too far away.

OP posts:
Nemo1977 · 02/09/2005 18:26

does anyone know what southampton train station is called?

Nemo1977 · 02/09/2005 18:28

mmm looks like a 5hr train trip...that cant be right..surely would only take that long to drive it

sweetheart · 02/09/2005 19:30

Nemo - depending on when you travel it's about 4 hrs to Winchester and 4 Hrs 20 mins to So'ton

OP posts:
bonkerz · 02/09/2005 20:39

Nemo , you could get a train to leicester and come with me! would be stopping in basingstoke to drop off pressies before coming home and you could stop at mine with ds the night and go back next day! much nicer than train for 5 hours!

ebbie22 · 02/09/2005 20:49

Dont think you can count me in,but i will be thinking of you all xxx

Nemo1977 · 03/09/2005 09:40

ooo bonkerz that would be lovely..have actually just checked on AA how long it would take me to drive to yours and it would take 2-2 1/2hrs which isnt too bad. Would be easier to drive anyway with having adam and if we were staying over so I will say a temporary yes to coming...obviously depends closer to time as obviously in nov will be around 36wks pg when we met.

bonkerz · 03/09/2005 12:39

Hi all.

Lets get this sorted.
Obviously i dont know where everyone will is etc but think it might be better to meet inland a bit more. Have looked at Newbury and found a nice pub which looks like it may suit us all. I can pick up anyone from train station as have an 8 seater car and will only have 4 in if Nemo, her DS and my DS are with me.

look at xmas menu, maybe we could do lunch!

Nemo1977 · 03/09/2005 12:42

I agree with bonkerz..would be a pity for people to travel an hour or two [or 4 in my case...lol} to meet up for a coffee...maybe we should do lunch as a pre xmas and baby treat to ourselves.

sweetheart · 03/09/2005 15:59

Could I suggest Basingstoke or Reading as an alternative to Newbury if we're not doing So'ton. Both have very big main line stations from London for anyone catching the train and in both these places the train centre is right in the middle of a very big town centre so there is plenty to choose from restaurant wise. Probably even one thats got a jungle gym type thing to keep any kiddies entertained. Also Reading is just of the M4 for anyone travelling by car and Basingstoke is off the M3.

I live not far from Newbury and it's not the best place to get to - it's a bit off the beaten track.

Should point out that Basingstoke and Reading are both neighbouring towns of Newbury - just much bigger and easier to access.
